Kitty's POV-

I dash at Maximus and snap. "Stay away!"

"Never!"

"You know you only want me!" I couldn't stop it, it came out of my mouth faster than Rubble eating a pup treat.

"Kitty? What-" I interrupted Ryder as Maximus froze.

"Run, Ryder, run!" I leaped and knocked Max over snarling in her face while Ryder took off in the direction of the Lookout, straight into Marshall.

"Yes! No! Come back!" Marshall yells, obviously still trying to get bloodwork done.

"No way!"

"COME HERE! I NEED IT!"

Suddenly, I was pushed off of Maximus, who also started chasing Ryder.

"EVERYBODY FREEZE" Chase shouted, thorns in his tennis ball launcher. Everyone froze.

"WHAT is going on in here?!" Chase snarls.

"Ryder won't let me get his blood drawn!" Marshall complained.

"I don't need blood drawn twice!" Ryder starts to back away.

"I SAID FREEZE!" Chase shot the cannon and everyone watched in shock as a ball of thorns flew past Ryder, two inches from his face.

That shut everyone up.

"I won't be nice if you move again!"

Maximus tries sneaking away, only to get shot in the face. "OWW! YOU IDIOT!

"You deserved it!" Chase growls.

I whimper. "Can I move? I can't sit still!"

"Kitty, you may move. Go to Ryder."

I trotted over to Ryder, who looks horrified.

"May I be excused?" Marshall said.

"Once you explain why you're chasing Ryder with a big ass needle," Chase replies.

"I need bloodwork."

"You may be excused."

"Thank you."

"Pause on the bloodwork though."

"Kay."

"Ryder and Kitty, you may exit the scene."

Ryder took off running into the Lookout. "Hey, wait for me!"

Soon after Marshall comes in. "Is he going to cause more trouble?"

"I don't think he can." Ryder was sitting on the couch, wide-eyed, staring at nothing in particular. "Probably the perfect time for bloodwork.."

"Let's get this over with, maybe I won't get kicked." Marshall slowly goes closer to him.

"He wouldn't kick you, he'd probably just throw up on you. Blood makes him queasy." I say, snickering.

Marshall quickly takes the blood sample and ran off. Ryder however, is sitting very still.

"Ryder?" I leap up beside hide him and gently nudge him. "I think you've spaced out..." I trailed off. Why won't his eyes come into focus?

"Ryder?"

He shook his head, finally looking at me. "What happened?"

"Um, I think the situation was a little too much for your concussion..." I say.

"Huh?"

"It's better if I don't tell you what happened if you truly don't remember," I said, concerned.

"I remember running." He said, uncertainly.

"That's not enough. Why don't we get you to bed? You might remember when you wake up." I suggested.

"Okay. I guess I could use a nap." He sighed deeply.

"What did I tell you the other day about sighing?" I asked, flicking my tail in agitation.

"Not to do it." He got up and went to bed.

I started to follow close behind when I heard Chase snarling. "You need to turn around and never come back!"

"You can't make me!"

"Ruff, launch!" I heard the sound of a ball of thorns hitting Maximus in the face again.

"This isn't over, dirty pup!" Then, he padded up to me.

"Lucky you got there in time," I said.

"What did you mean when you told her it was you she wants, and not Ryder?" He questioned, looking genuinely confused.

"We used to be friends. But I can assure you, we're not anymore."

"But that doesn't explain things. If she's really mad at you, why is she trying to kill Ryder?" He asked.

"I don't know." I lied.

The truth is, I've always liked Ryder, even before I moved to Adventure Bay. She's really mad at me, and she knows the only thing that hurts me badly the way she wants, is to see Ryder get hurt. She wants me to suffer, and the only way to make me suffer is to make him suffer. It's screwed logic, but that's how it is. It makes me feel really bad about things, which is why I lied to Chase.

"Oh." He said, not looking convinced.

I began to say something else, but Vivian trots up to me. "Ryder wants to talk to you."

I scampered off to Ryder's room, knowing why he wants to talk, and not wanting to answer his questions. "Yes, Ryder?"

"What did you mean by 'you want me, not Ryder'?" He said, sadness in his eyes.

"We, uh, used to be, um... friends." I stammered. "Before I moved here."

"But what does that have to do with anything?"

"I liked you before I came here," I confessed. "She knows that *gulp* hurting you hurts me."

"But, then why-?" He looks even more confused.

"She's mad at me," I said quietly. "She knows watching you suffer makes me suffer."

I paused.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know it would escalate like this! I wish my love for you didn't put you in so much danger!" I blurted.

"Now you know how I've been feeling, that's the reason I ran away." He pulled me closer.

"So baby pull me closer in the backseat of your rover." I started.

"That I know you can't afford,"

"Like that tattoo on your shoulder."

"Pull the sheets right off the corner"

"Of the mattress that you stole,"

"From your roommate back in Bolar,"

"We ain't ever gettin' older!"
