Chapter 15: Enjoying California
The next day came, and the devils went out to go do stuff. They got breakfast from a nearby diner which was really good. They then went for a walk along a harbor to see the pretty sight of the ocean, sky, and boats. Molly took a bucket and filled it with the salt water and threw it at Taz. Molly laughed as she found it funny to do but Taz didn't find it funny. He then picked up Molly and threw her in the water as he laughed. Jake kinda laughed but found the situation more awkward than funny. Afterwards, they got a lot of stuff from stores that really caught their attention. They didn't know though just how much money was being spent. Nevertheless, they had a good time doing whatever they could.
Then night came, and it got a lot better. Taz, Molly, and Jake showed up to a party going on in an area of the city. It was a festival that was celebrated yearly within the city. Music was coming from the DJ and the speakers within the center of the party. The dance floor had many lights and a disco ball in the middle. Jake and Molly were dancing in their own ways, while Taz spun around like a tornado. Because of this, he ended up bumping into someone. "Hey!" said that person. "Whoops! Taz sorry!" Taz replied. Perhaps doing a tornado within the dance floor wasn't the greatest idea? It was probably best to dance in a way that wasn't going to cause much disturbance. "This is so much fun!" said Jake. "Yeah, it sure is," Molly responded. For the first time in several days she felt pretty happy. Maybe she and her brothers could get used to life out here.
Taz was easily the most excited about the experience while he danced. Despite some rough patches getting to California, Taz was able to make it work. They went out to do many things that made the day so memorable and it was just those little things that made Taz feel like it was worth it to come out here. He was then interrupted by Molly who tapped him on the shoulder. "I don't mean to interrupt but how's job searching?" she asked. Taz rolled his eyes in his mind, but didn't want to admit he wasn't interested in a job. "Eh, Taz still looking," he replied. "Well Taz, you should probably get on that soon if you want us to still have a roof over our heads," Molly said. Taz didn't think too much of it, he believed he could worry about it later on. The 3 of them continued to have the good time they were having.
When they got back to their hotel room later that night, they were tired. It was an eventful day, but not like yesterday. This time it was tiring for the right reasons. "What a day," said Jake, "Maybe we can do this again tomorrow?" "Maybe, but I think that's enough for us today," said Molly. Taz immediately went onto the bed but was smiling. "Taz like new life," he murmured, "Taz stay here." While it didn't sound like much, this was unfortunately one of the many signs of Taz being too optimistic for his own good. In general, being far too attached to wanting to stay in California. It certainly wouldn't get better the next day.
Unknown to Taz or his siblings, they had spent a huge amount of money. An amount that wouldn't be able to cover the next night. Needless to say, with Taz being overly confident and not enough money to spend another night, the next day was going to be a shitshow. Ultimately, the turning point.
