That it doesn't matter.

There were too many people around. Had she not run off and told him, he would have delayed all this to give her time. He knew she was somewhat hurt. Was that the right word? He knew humans were sensitive and Kagome more so. He actually wasn't even sure how she really felt about their own pregnancy. The way his mother put it, she was happy and could not wait to tell him but talking to her, it was like she was just, ok. Unsure.

Now there were too many people.

The mark wasn't working as it should, but perhaps it was because he had neglected it because they had both been dancing around it. There wasn't a way to take it back, and he had been content with it. But he knew one day this day would come; he just thought it would be a long freaking time from now. He knew there would have been a chance for her to become pregnant; hell, the more they touched, the higher those chances, but he still did not think it would have been this soon. But damn, he could not deny the need to fill her tiny space up. He had never been a man to break control, but she made it damn hard; plus, he was a male, her alpha.

They needed a moment more together, alone. He wanted to get more of a feel of what she was thinking, what she was feeling. But they didnt have that, and so all he had was now.

He sat at the head, the crowd below talking, drinking, waiting. The bitch to his left was just as happy as could be, of course, what female wouldn't be. The door came open, and in came his mother with Kagome on her arm.

She looked, pretty. Her hair was down and long, and she had a glow about her. She seemed just content, smaller, almost helpless in the sea of demons, and something protective rose up in him. He was pleased when his mother drew her close and sat her next to him. He leaned slightly to her and inhaled her scent.

"Daughter, what is this?"

The pregnant demoness waved her hand. "This is our Lordship's, human mate,"

The room got quiet.

"I had no idea you had taken to your father's ways!" The man was shocked.

Kagome looked away, and Sesshomaru found he wanted to growl. "An in convince," Her small voice spoke, making everyone look at her. She looked at the crowd. "Call it a price for Naraku."

Gasp and whisps were heard.

"You are the Skicon Miko?" The demoness's father asks,

"I am,"

His counsel spoke to him, and he looked at Sesshomaru and then his daughter. "Then I understand, this matter does not matter then, and we shall continue with our talks,"

Sesshomaru only nodded, and everyone went back to the way it was.

The demoness known only as Rashell leaned over. "We will soon travel back to my lands to show the West what else we have to offer,"

Kagome looked at her. "Oh,"

"I am told you like to travel,"

So he had not told her yet that she, too, was pregnant. Kagome felt a little down knowing that he had not announced it. Kagome cleared her throat. "Sometimes yes,"

The demoness's father came up. "Will you announce her pregnancy soon?"

"Hn,"

Her father looked at her. "And you are ok with this?"

The demoness looked at Kagome. "What do you think, Lady Miko, mate of my Lord?"

"Think?"

"Surely, I am having his baby. Am I to assume you have already accepted the terms,"

"Terms?" Did this woman ever complete her sentences?

"She speaks of a double mating as my father before me had done," Sesshomaru decided to end the nonsense because it was only making it worse.

Kagome looked up at him. Hell, her own father said it didn't matter, so she didn't understand why anyone was asking her. Then it dawned on her because she was his mate first. This was the diplomatic stuff Miroku was talking about. But that part of all this didn't matter to her. She wasn't one of them; if this was what he wanted, how could she deny him?

"If that is what you want,"

She said it so calmly, so smoothly. Yet her face seemed so young, so lost. He really needed more time with her, to explain to talk. But here she was, just going along with it all. Was she doing it for him, or did she understand? He hated that the mark wasn't reacting. It had to do with her being human or Miko, he was sure.

"My Lord," The demoness touched his arm,

He didn't know what he wanted, so he did what he thought was right for the time. He stood, "The West will visit the lands of your daughter for she carries the Son of the moon in her womb,"

Cheers erupted, and he watched them parade around. He then looked down at Kagome. It felt wrong, these words about another. It felt like he should have been announcing her, their baby. She didnt look at him, but her hand was on her belly as if she were sick. He leaned down. "Are you ill?"

"Hia," She whispered, and he looked at his mother. She quickly helped Kagome up, and Sesshomaru watched as they hurried out. It was at the moment that he first caught a glimpse of feeling. He smelt her tears, but he had a gut feeling it was for the baby, not for him or her.

"My Lord," The demoness had been calling his name.

"Hn?"

"They wish to know what you think, boy or girl?"

He didn't look at her, just kept his gaze on the path Kagome had taken.

"It doesn't matter,"
