A/N: It's not my playground just my slide.

I had a blast hanging out with the Cullens last night. I was still amazed at how comfortable I felt around them. It felt like I have known them my entire life.

I'm not sure when I fell asleep. The last thing I remember was Emmett and Jasper arguing again over a stupid video game. Both of them cheated but were mad that the other cheated. Go figure that one out.

I fell asleep on the couch with my head on Edward's shoulder, but I woke up in an incredibly comfortable bed. If I could have fantasies about a bed it would be about that one. It was like sleeping on a cloud.

The room I was in was beautiful. It even had its own bathroom which was great. I noticed my overnight bag had been placed on the armchair across from the bed. Now I was wondering who carried me upstairs.

There was a quiet knock on the door, and Alice came barging in before I could reply. "Morning, Bella," she said as she sat down at the end of the bed.

"Morning, Alice," I said with a smile. "You have more energy than what should be legal at this time in the morning?"

"I get that a lot," she laughed like it wasn't that big a deal. "We are leaving for school in a few minutes, and I just wanted to pop in and check to see how you are feeling."

"I'm feeling alright. Both my head and neck are still a little sore, and I am feeling tired," I said.

"Carlisle said to take some pain medicine after you have a bite to eat. His orders are for you to rest and not worry about anything," she said with a bright smile. "Also, do you need me to bring home your books for you?"

"That would be a huge help, Alice. Since I am going to be studying to take my exams so I can graduate, could you bring me all my books? I want to take that test by next Friday at the latest."

"You go it. Esme is bringing you up something for breakfast. Then you need to rest. We'll be home before you know it," Alice said and she wrapped her arms around my shoulders and gave me a brief hug.

"Have a good day," I called out to her as she walked out.

I climbed out of bed and padded over to my duffle bag to get a change of clothing and my toiletry bag. I wanted to take a quick bath since I was feeling gross. Unfortunately, due to my stitches, I am unable to take a shower for a week. Carlisle told me that I could not get my stitches wet. I was a little bummed about it.

The bathroom was huge and there was a gorgeous whirlpool tub that could fit a party of six. Suddenly, I wasn't missing the shower anymore. I filled the tub with hot water and turned the jets on. I undressed and stepped inside.

I took some time in the tub. Between the hot water and the jets, my aching muscles were finally getting some relief. I hadn't realized how much my entire body was hurting me until now.

I eventually finished my bath and dried off. I chose some lightweight sweatpants and a tank top to wear. The doctor ordered me to rest, and that is exactly what I was going to do.

I cleaned up after myself and went back to the bedroom and crawled back into bed. I grabbed my laptop out of my duffle bag and booted it up. I know for a fact that my dad had told Renee what had happened and I was anticipating one of her infamous freak-out emails.

There was another knock at the door. I called out for whoever it was to enter, and in came Esme carrying a tray heavily laden down with food. By the looks of it, she had made all of my favorites.

"I made you some breakfast, Bella dear. I wasn't sure what you would like, so I made a little of everything," Esme smiled as she placed the tray on the bed.

"Oh, Esme, you didn't have to go out of your way for me. I would have been happy with a bowl of cereal," I said smiling at her. "This all looks so good. I'm going to try a little of everything. It would be a real sin not to."

"I'm just happy to be able to help take care of you. I hope you know, Bella, that we all care very much for you," she said as she brushed a strand of hair away from my eyes. It was such a motherly thing to do, something my own mother never did for me.

"I know, and I care about all of you as well," I replied eyeing the tray and trying to figure out what I should sample first. I decided on a pancake. I slathered that beauty with butter and then poured the maple syrup on it. I took a bite and moaned at its fluffy goodness. "This is so good, Esme."

"I'm glad you like it. Carlisle reminded me that you are to eat and then take a pain pill. He wants you resting, so no fighting sleep," she admonished me.

"Yes, ma'am," I said as I saluted her.

Esme left me in peace so that I could eat. Everything she made was fantastic. The Denver omelet was to die for. The sausage gravy and biscuits were perfect. The bacon was perfectly crispy and was the only thing on the tray that I ate all of. A good person never wastes bacon.

Once I finished with my delicious breakfast, I took my pain killer. I really detest taking any sort of pills, but even I will admit that I am in pain. Even I have a breaking point.

It wasn't that long after I took my meds when I started to feel really tired. Since I was under direct orders to rest, I was going to do just that. So I ended up doing something I haven't done in years. I willingly took a nap.

I was startled awake when my cell phone went off. It was my dad's ringtone which was the theme song to COPS. "Hey, dad," I greeted him.

"Hey, Bells, how are you doing?"

"I'm feeling much better. Carlisle ordered me to take a pain pill and rest, so I took a nap," I told him.

"That must be some pain pill. You haven't willingly taken a nap since you were a toddler."

"I know but I was told not to fight it, so I figured why not," I explained.

"I'm glad you are getting your rest. I called to let you know that I'm going to be late getting home tonight. We got a report this morning of a missing female. So, I have my hands full. I just spoke to Esme and asked her if she would mind if you stayed over again. She was fine with it. She doesn't want you to be alone, especially with a head injury. I've got to say it, Bells. The Cullens seem to be very protective of you. I'm glad you made friends with them."

"I'm happy about that too," I said to him.

"Okay, kid, I have to go. I will call you later this afternoon."

"Alright, dad, be safe."

"Always am, Bells."

After hanging up with my dad, I grabbed my laptop. In all the excitement of the breakfast Esme made for me, I forgot to check my emails. I just knew for a fact that there was one from Renee waiting for me.

Once I pulled up my email account, I noticed that there were several emails from Renee waiting for me. I just shook my head in exasperation. Everything with her is dramatized.

I clicked on the oldest one which was yesterday afternoon. I was right. This email was sent almost immediately after my dad called her. I don't know what she was thinking. I was in the emergency room getting stitches, and she somehow thinks I was avoiding calling her.

I read the other eight emails she sent and they all said relatively the same thing. She wanted to know why I was avoiding her. Why was I ignoring her emails, yada yada.

This was a prime example of why I chose to move to forks. Renee has no common sense and panics over everything. It was exhausting taking care of her all the time. I needed a break from her.

I decided that my best bet was to be as diplomatic as possible while telling her to cut the crap. I was annoyed that it never dawned on her that I was attacked and injured. For God's sake. Charlie told her I was in the emergency room. What did she think I was doing there?

Mom,

Take a deep breath, please. I was in the emergency room getting stitches put in my head when you sent the first email. There was no way I could reply to your email.

I had a concussion due to that head injury. The doctor admitted me so they could keep an eye on me. That's what they do when you have a very bad concussion.

Besides, I was unable to email you from my hospital bed. Also, once I got home yesterday, I took a long nap. This afternoon was the first time where I felt I could handle my emails. So here's the email you wanted.

I'm feeling much better. The pain in my head and neck is nowhere near as bad as they were. Don't freak out if I don't respond to your emails right away. I am under a doctor's orders to rest, and that is exactly what I'm doing.

Deep breaths!

I quickly sent the email off hoping that it would pacify Renee for a while. No matter how much better I am feeling, I don't think I will ever feel good enough to deal with my mother's drama. I hate drama.

I went through the rest of my emails just happy that there wasn't anything major I needed to address. I shut my laptop down and put it back in my duffle bag. I wasn't really feeling up to doing anything else just yet so I laid back down.

I must have fallen asleep pretty quickly earlier but was startled awake yet again when I heard Emmett's loud mouth. I swear to God he needs a volume control button. If he had one, I would turn him all the way down.

I opened my eyes and was relieved to discover that his ugly mug wasn't in my face again. There was a knock at my door, and Alice barged right in again before I could answer. I'm going to have to have a chat with her about that.

"You know, Alice, I could have been naked," I pointed out.

"Pft," was her reply as she swung the book bag she was carrying up on the bed. "I knew you were in bed. Besides, you don't have anything I haven't seen before."

"Maybe not but that doesn't mean I need you to be looking at my kibbles and bits," I retorted.

"Kibbles and bits, that's funny," Emmett laughed loudly. I turned and gave Alice the stink eye. It's her fault he heard that.

"Anyway, I emptied your locker. All of your books are here as well as a note from each teacher telling you what you need to study in each subject for the exam. None of them gave you homework since you are not only dealing with an injury but will probably be graduating next week," Alice explained.

"Great, so there were no problems?" I asked.

She just shook her head no. "The only problems that popped up today had nothing to do with getting your work," she hinted.

"Alright, I'll bite. What happened?" I asked.

"More of the same, actually. The cops were there trying to see if they could get some fingerprints from the gym door and behind the school. They even tried to see if there were tire tracks," Alice explained.

"My dad said he had a lead, and earlier he said that he got a report on a missing female this morning. Is it normally this crazy in Forks?" I asked her while rummaging in the backpack to find all the teachers' notes.

"Honestly, it's always dull around here. Things didn't start getting crazy until you showed up. Thanks for that," she said with a smirk.

"That's me. I bring the entertainment," I told her proudly. "Seriously, I don't remember it ever being this insane around here. When I visited as a kid, I was always bored because there's nothing to do around here."

"Did you have lunch? Esme said you had been sleeping for quite a while," she asked changing the subject.

I grabbed my cell to check the time and noticed that I had one hell of a long nap, a six-hour long nap. "Damn! I have never napped for six hours before."

"Apparently, your body needed it. Your recovering from a head injury. Carlisle said it was normal to be tired. Let's not forget that you were forced to stay awake all night because of your concussion. So, are you hungry?"

"I'm starving, to be honest, but I don't want Esme to put herself out for me," I stated firmly.

"Silly Bella, when are you going to just accept it. Esme is doing what a mom does. She's taking care of her kid," Alice pointed out.

"Alice, I was my mother's mother growing up. I have no clue what a mother does," I informed her. While I did love my mom, I have never looked at her like she was a parental figure. If the majority of mom's are like Esme, then I missed out on a lot as a kid.

"Don't let Esme hear that. She will end up mothering the crap out of you," Alice warned me.

"I appreciate everything Esme does for me. I just feel bad that she's putting in so much effort and wasting time. I'm really a no-fuss type of person."

"Trust me, Bella. She loves taking care of people. If you want her to be happy then let her take care of you," Alice said in an obvious attempt at guilt tripping me.

"Alice, I should warn you that your attempt at guilt tripping me was sickeningly obvious as is you attempt at the puppy dog eyes," I told her.

"Damn, Bella, you're a tough crowd."

"I hate to break it to you, Alice, but you are so easy to read," I said.

Alice just rolled her eyes at me and waved off my comments. "Do you feel well enough to come downstairs? The guys bought a new movie to watch and wanted to know if you would care to join us. You can eat while we watch the movie."

"I would love to join you all. What movie did they get?"

"They got that new Jason Statham movie, Transporter II. The guys love him. Rose and I think he's pretty hot for a guy that lacks hair," she said with a wink.

"He's alright just not really my type. I do love his action sequences. He's pretty badass."

"It figures you would be a fan as well. Do you need help making it down the steps?" she asked helping me get up from the bed.

"Maybe, I'm not sure yet," I said as I tried to run my fingers through my hair. I groaned in frustration. My hair was a matted mess. "My hair needs to be brushed so badly."

"Let me try to tame it a bit for you. I can't do anything where your stitches are but the rest I should be able to untangle a little." She grabbed a hold of my hand and led me over to the armchair. I sat down as she retried my brush from my toiletry bag. "Let me know if I accidentally hurt you."

It didn't take long before Alice was able to fix my mop. "Thanks, Alice, the knots were driving me crazy."

"I did the best I could do under the circumstances. As soon as Carlisle gives you the go-ahead to brush your hair, I will help you tame the beast," she teased.

"Alright, let's get me downstairs," I said.

With Alice's help, I managed to make it down the steps and into their entertainment room. Emmett had the movie in the DVD player and was ready to go. "Hi, Bella," they cheerfully called out to me.

"Hi, Cullens," I said with a huge grin.

"You are looking more coherent today," Rosalie said as she stepped forward to give me a hug.

"I feel more coherent," I laughed.

"Enough with all the mushy crap. Bella, sit down next to my dufus brother, Edward. We've got a movie to watch," Emmett ordered. Edward grabbed a throw pillow and whipped it at the back of Emmett's head.

I did as Emmett said and made myself comfortable. Esme brought me an amazing dinner of seasoned and grilled chicken breast, roasted asparagus, and a baked potato. I thanked her and dug in. I was stuffing myself like a lady when I noticed all their eyes were on me.

"Can I help you?" I asked looking at each of them.

"That must taste good because all those sex noises you are making are ones I have never heard before," Emmett teased. I felt my cheeks flush with embarrassment.

"Emmett, just because you are incapable of sexually satisfying your woman so that she could make sex noises is not really a problem I wish to discuss with you," I clapped back at him. The others cracked up laughing and Jasper even gave me a high five.

I sat back to enjoy the movie while trying not to snuggle too closely to Edward. I was having such a good time with the Cullens regardless of the circumstances. I couldn't wait to see what would happen this weekend.
