chapter 6 Tourist Trap

the screen zooms into the Rust Bucket and shows Ben
"Come on Grandpa can't you just tell us where were going?" Ben asked
"Hey doofus you've been asking for like a half hour I doubt Grandpas going to tell us if you keep asking." Gwen said annoyed
"Ben I've been planning this stop all summer just wait a couple more hours." Max said with a sigh as Bens shoulders slump as he goes to the table where Gwen is and sat down
26 minutes later
Ben was fiddling with the Omnitrix. he turns the dial a couple times to the left and right until the Rust Bucket suddenly came to a stop making Ben fall out of his seat and slide down to the front and accidently transform into
Ghostfreak
"Oh, good. You're all ready to go. We got trouble ahead." Max said pointing towards a propane truck that has overturned and the truck driver is stuck inside. there is also a fire spreading just outside the truck
"HELP!" the driver screamed in fear as he banged on the door
"The door's stuck! He can't get out!" a bystander screamed
"If that propane he's hauling catches fire, that truck will become a rocket to the moon." Max said as Ghostfreak went intangibly and through the Rust Bucket to the truck. he went through the fire and in the truck grabbing the driver and going back out with the driver to the crowd dropping him off as a kid screamed
"Aaahhh its a ghost!" a kid screamed
"I'm not a ghost." Ghostfreak hissed out annoyed
"Now what to do about the fire." Ghostfreak thought as he moves his purple eye to look behind himself. he quickly goes to the Rust Bucket where Max and Gwen where still waiting and flew past them to where he knew the fire extinguisher was and quickly took it and flew back surprising Max and Gwen
Ghostfreak sprays the fire extinguisher as the fire was put out. Ghostfreak turned intangibly and invisibly with the fire extinguisher he quickly flew towards the Rust Bucket and flew in turning visibly and tangibly. he sighed as he pressed the symbol on his chest making him detransform in a green flash he was back to normal
"That felt even weirder than usual when I go Ghostfreak." Ben said as he sat down in the seat next to him as he placed the fire extinguisher below the table
1 hour and 37 minutes later
the Tennysons continue along the road and approach a specific location Gwen reads out the signs on the roadside
"You'll have a ball with it! ... Next exit?" Gwen said confused
"Come on, Grandpa. At least give us a hint of what 'it' is." Ben said
"Uh-uh. No hints. Were almost there." Max said
18 minutes later they reach their destination. Max walks out of the Rust Bucket. he takes care of some things and then opens the door of the RV
"Now, both of you, close your eyes." Max said as Ben and Gwen looked at each other for a second before closing their eyes and walking out of the Rust Bucket
"Okay, open 'em up! Ta-da!" Max said as Ben and Gwen opened their eyes "Welcome to Sparksville!" Max said as they looked around
"Hah, is this place great or what?" Max asked
"Uh... I'll go with or what." Ben said
"Come on! What's more exciting than the world's biggest fishbowl?" Max said as they looked at the fishbowl
"Um, everything." Ben said
"As the mayor of Sparksville, I welcome you, as seekers of wonder." Said the mayor in a monotone voice making the three Tennyson's look at him strangely for a couple seconds
"I know you guys are probably excited to see 'it'. So, I'll go check us in." Max said to Ben and Gwen as he gives them a ticket each and walks away. Ben and Gwen look at each other and shrug. Ben and Gwen go to an exhibit named "The Jack-A-Lope". Ben rings the bell. Ben and Gwen are surprised to see the mayor walk out as the ticket collector
"Tickets, please." the mayor said in his monotone voice
"I thought you were the mayor." Ben said while he and Gwen handed him their tickets
"He who wears the crown is burdened by many hats, son." the mayor said as Ben and Gwen walks in "Mind the signs." he said as they went in fully
Ben and Gwen take various pictures, including in front of the jackalope building, an American Gothic painting cutout, a planetarium in which an employee is replacing the sunlight bulb, a giant house of cards, a giant hot-dog, Ben getting sprayed with ketchup and mustard, Gwen getting a hot-dog tossed at her, Ben wearing jackalope horns and Gwen wearing googly-eye glasses, the world's largest fishbowl Ben and Gwen pretending to be fish, them sitting on a bench bored and an it is this way sign. They arrive at the barn with a sign 'IT's' Here
"Through these doors lies the weirdest, wildest thing ever to find it's way to Sparksville." the mayor said as the door opens, and they enter. there is ominous darkness and various signs light up. Ben and Gwen read them out
"Please tell me this is 'it' because I can't stand 'it' anymore." Ben said as he reads a sign "Do not touch it!" Ben read as Gens reads the next one
"Do not photograph it!" Gwen read
"Do not use batteries or electrical equipment anywhere near it!" Ben and Gwen read
the light returns as Ben and Gwen see a huge sign reading 'THIS IS IT'. Ben and Gwen look on. the sign moves away and reveals a giant rubber-band ball
"This is 'it'?" Ben asked
"It's a big ball of rubber bands." Gwen said
"And who knows what secrets lie within." the mayor said in a suspenseful tone
"Uhh, more rubber bands?" Ben said
"Stay as long as you like. Mind the signs." the mayor said as he walks away
"I think this guy is full of 'it'" Ben said
"It is pretty lame. I can't believe Grandpa was so excited about this place." Gwen said as she notices Ben has a smile
"I know that look, Ben. What're you thinking?" Gwen asked as Ben walks behind the rubber band ball and a green flash happens and Diamondhead lifted the rubber band ball by making a cone like shape with his hands that stretched and connected to each other
"One good prank deserves another." Diamondhead said as he made two spikes on each foot that dug into the ground making himself more stable
Gwen smiles "For once, I agree with you. Got something special in mind?" Gwen asked as Diamondhead smirked and started moving his hands up and down as the rubber band ball almost looking like it was being juggled
"I don't know. Maybe... the world's biggest chandelier" Diamondhead said making Gwen laugh. Diamondhead was getting a bit cocky
Gwen notice Diamondhead gaining a cocky smile
"Be careful, dweeb! you might drop it." Gwen said
"Oh come on I could life this thing with one hand tied behind my-" Diamondhead while he unmerged his hand from the cone like structure trying to prove his point, but instead lost his balance and started swaying a bit making the rubber band ball roll out of the cone like structure making Gwen dodge it as it bounces off of the floor and through the roof as Diamondhead gasp as he retracted the cone like structure back into his body as he and Gwen followed it. the ball continues to bounce after it left the barn. It knocks over several exhibits and crushes a food cart, and Diamondhead was barely able to stop the ball by creating a small wall of crystals by hitting the ground. the rubber band ball bounces off of the crystal wall back towards Diamondhead and Gwen. Diamondhead planted his feet into the ground and caught the ball while also being pushed back a little. Gwen sighs in relief as she looks at Diamondhead
"You doofus look what you did!" Gwen semi yelled
"Don't worry I can fix this." Diamondhead said as he was about to start pushing the rubber band ball when the symbol on his chest started beeping and flashing red. in a red flash Ben was now there
"Okay. Maybe a little problem." Ben said as he leans against the giant ball, causing a small charge from the Omnitrix to be drawn into the ball, unbeknownst to Ben and Gwen
"What are we going to tell Grandpa?" Gwen asked
"Nothing. We just play dumb." Ben said a bit uncertain about his decision
"Easy for 'you' to say. You're a lot better at it than I am." Gwen said
a bit later Gwen and Ben enter the motel through a door that appears to be a big mail slot. Inside, it appears that the entire room has been turned on its side, including the beds and the door
"Hey, there you are. Isn't this place a riot?" Max asked
"Why? What'd you see? We don't know anything about it." Gwen said tensely
"She means it's... great, Grandpa. Can't wait check out the bathroom." Ben said as his left eye seemed to twitch a bit, but no one seemed to notice it
Back at the rubber-band ball, the charge has spread all over the surface. two small electric bolts escape from it one starts to circle the power lines and exhibits. It then puts a hole through the welcome sign for the town. The bolts then reveal themselves. one appears to look like a yellow battery looking creature that laughs maniacally and zips away. the other one seemed to be a tint of green on yellow and was a bit smaller and seemed to be less energetic than the other one. it seemed to use its greenish yellow electricity to find something before turning into the same type of electricity and disappeared
the next day Ben and Gwen where sleeping in their respective beds
"What the heck happened here?" Max somewhat yelled making Ben and Gwen fall off of their wall beds
"Ah. He knows everything. We are so busted. We have to come clean and tell Grandpa everything." Gwen said worriedly. Ben who was a bit calmer stopped Gwen from panicking
"Listen it might not be related to what happened." Ben said making Gwen calm down a bit until
"Benjamin. Gwendolyn. Get out here." Max yelled as Ben and Gwen grew terrified expressions
"Gwendolyn? We're doomed!" Gwen said as she and Ben went outside and see that the entire place has been trashed, far more than what Diamondhead had caused
"Whhoooaa! What happened?" Ben asked
"I don't know. Looks like a tornado tore through here overnight." Max said the people of Sparksville look on at the destruction
"Not even I could do all this damage." Ben said. to Gwen he was being obvious, but Max just ignored Ben's comment. the mayor then walks over to them
"I think it's pretty clear who's responsible for these juvenile acts." he said to the three Tennyson's
"Juvenile acts?" Max said as he looked at his grandchildren "Huh, if I didn't know better, that sounds like-" Max was about to say as the mayor cut him off
"Oh, I'm not talking about these youngsters." the mayor said making Max raise his eyebrow
"Then who are you talking about?" Max asked
suddenly the one yellow battery creature that broke the welcome sign of Sparksville arrives and zips around Ben and Gwen, making silly poses and faces, and pulls Gwen's shirt over her head. It taps on Ben's shoulder to get his attention. when Ben turned to it. it notices the Omnitrix and try's to grab it before Ben jerked his arm away from it as it zips away
"What was that thing?" Ben asked while covering the Omnitrix
"Megawatt." the mayor said making the three Tennysons confused
"Mega - what?" Ben asked
"Exactly. Normally wrapped up tight inside of it... That is, until last night." the mayor said as Ben and Gwen glanced at each other "Some say might be a ball of lightning come alive. Others think it's static cling run amok. Tough to say." the mayor said
"Maybe it's an alien?" Gwen said
"Alien? That's just plan kooky talk." the mayor said
meanwhile Near a soda machine, the Megawatt sees the chance to cause even more trouble. It enters the machine and causes it to tremble
"Uh what's it doing?" Ben who was watching the Megawatt asked
"It eats electricity. The more it gobbles, the more powerful it gets." the mayor said as the Megawatt causes the machine to fire canned drinks. Ben Gwen and Max quickly dodged the cans. Ben dodged a can going at his face and one that was going for his upper right knee. Gwen ducked down to the ground avoiding all the cans. Max also ducked down to the ground avoiding the cans. the mayor just stands there somehow not getting hit
"It's also got a dangerous sense of humor." the mayor said as the barrage continues as Ben Gwen and Max hide behind an overturned car
"Looks like its hero time." Ben said as he activated the Omnitrix and turned the dial a couple times before slamming his hand down on it transforming into
Upgrade
"Huh Upgrade? Come on stupid watch I wanted Feedback." Upgrade said as he left his hiding spot and saw the Megawatt has left the vending machine and was causing havoc on the other exhibits. it makes the world's largest ketchup bottle overflow. the top of the bottle then cuts the head off a giant chicken. the Megawhatt laughs.
"Hey sparky!" upgrade shouted to get the Megawatts attention. the Megawatt looked at Upgrade confused before going in front of Upgrades one eye and poked him in the eye. Upgrade grabs the Megawatt but when he grabs it, he gets shocked from the excess electricity from the Megawatt and thrown back
"Ugh! Man, that hurt got to remember. Do not touch the electrical guy when you're made of living metal." Upgrade said annoyed as he glared at the Megawatt before accidentally firing a green laser at the Megawatt who manages to dodge it at the last moment
"Whoa! That's new." Upgrade said in a bit of shock and amazement at the ability he found out he has. the Megawatt laughs at Upgrades 'attack' missing and takes off
"Ok so how am I supposed to stop this thing?" Upgrade muttered to himself as he looks to see where the Megawatt went
"Ben are you alright?" Max asked as he and Gwen walked up to Upgrade
"Yea I'm fine Grandpa." Upgrade said
"So, what's your plan to stop the Megawatt?" Gwen asked
"I think I have an idea." Upgrade said with what seems to be a smirk
a minute later
Upgrade rolls up on the rubber band ball towards the Megawatt
"Okay, sparky. Time to go home!" Upgrade yells as he sends pieces of rubber band flying in every direction, which causes even more damage. people run away, frightened
"Hey doofus! Whose side are you on?!" Gwen asked/shouted
"Is it just me, or is there a lot of excitement today?" the mayor asked calmly from his seat on a bench while eating popcorn
the Megawatt laughs at the damage Upgrade has done and mocks him. Upgrade who fell off of the rubber band ball glares at the Megawatt and accidently fires another laser blast at the Megawatt actually hitting it this time sending it back a couple feet
"Wow. That is going to take some time to get used to." Upgrade said to himself
suddenly the Megawatt zipped away making Upgrade quickly look around to see where the Megawatt went but couldn't find it
"Where did it go." Upgrade asked as he continued to look around
"AAAAGH! That's not funny! Oh, it's just painful." Max said as the Megawatt was giving him a wedgie, literally lifting him off the ground, struggling with his weight after a couple seconds it dropped him and went over to another vending machine
"Wow that was close." Upgrade said as he moved his torso out of the way of a couple cans flying at him. Upgrade fires a laser blast at the vending machine breaking the glass and bursting all the remaining cans inside it blowing it up the Megawatt managed to get out of it before it fully exploded. after a couple seconds it exploded into a large fire
"Opps." Upgrade said as the Megawatt laughs
"Thats, it no more play time!" Upgrade said as he picked up a sewer lid and threw it like a frisbee cutting the Megawatt in half but instead of falling to the ground both halves turned into two Megawatts
"Thats not supposed to happen." Upgrade said as the two Megawatts laughs at each other before they went to whatever technology or machinery that was still being powered and started absorbing the electricity
"There's no way Upgrade can beat these Mega dweebs. ok watch give me someone I can use to stop these guys." Upgrade muttered to himself as he pressed the symbol on his chest and in a green flash he was
Xlr8
"I guess Xlr8 can deal with these guys." Xlr8 said as he decided to make sure no one in the area was hurt so he quickly looked around but basically everyone ran away. he stopped next to Gwen and Max
"You guys got any ideas on how to stop these guys?" Xlr8 asks
"Sorry kiddo if there is a way to ground these electric devils it's going to take some time to figure out." Max said as Gwen's eyes widen in realization
"Grandpa your geniuses!" Gwen says as she runs off confusing Max and Xlr8
"Um well thank you Gwen but why?" Max said as he chased after her. Xlr8 just looked confused for a second before his mind quickly got over the shock by realizing that Gwen has a plan. he ran over to the Megawatts
"Hey, sparkles one and two it's not nice to steal and destroy." Xlr8 said with a hiss. the Megawatts who were just about to look for more electricity looked at Xlr8 confused. one of the Megawatt went to Xlr8 and noticed the symbol on his chest and tried poking it. Xlr8 quickly moved away from the Megawatt and held a claw up and shook it side to side
"Not today." Xlr8 said as he lowered his mask to cover his face and started running around the Megawatt starting to make a small tornado around the Megawatt. the Megawatt seemed to be laughing from inside the tornado. the other Megawatt tried to enter the tornado and when it tried it was sucked in once it got close. after about thirty Xlr8 stopped running and looked at the two Megawatt. both looked dizzy but looked perfectly fine
"Hmm. I was hoping for a knockout." Xlr8 said with one of his claws on his chin. Xlr8 heard a noise to his left and saw a truck with Max and Gwen in it carrying the world's largest thermometer. suddenly the symbol on his chest started beeping and flashing red
"Really now of all times?' Xlr8 asked rhetorically as he erupted in a red flash, and he was back to normal. one of the Megawatts noticed that Ben was there and attacks him but luckily Max grabs him when they pass by
"Grandpa, what're you doing?" Ben asked
"Giving these sparklers a science lesson, they won't forget." Max reply's as he drives and the Megawatts chase the truck
"Hey, mega-weirds! Come and get us!" Gwen yells out the window as she shifts a gear, releasing the large thermometer into the ground vertically. The Megawatts crash into the thermometer and get grounded
"What happened?" Ben asked confused
"We just used the biggest thermometer as a lightning rod. Who needs an alien superhero when you've got good old-fashioned brainpower?" Gwen said
"Ahem. I have brain power in both alien and non-alien you're just a living dictionary." Ben retorted
"Course, the ground is basically just one big conductor." the mayor said making both Ben and Gwen jump in surprise
"Wait what when- how did you get there?" Ben asked
"Oh, no. The Megawatts are zipping around underground until they find some way to get back to the surface." Gwen says realizing her mistake
"Ben maybe you should question that later once the problem is over." Max tells Ben
"Um ya okay." Ben said still thinking about how he appeared out of nowhere basically suddenly various telephones start to ring. the group minus the mayor looks on anxiously
"There in the underground phone lines." Max said as Ben looks at the Omnitrix which was red. the Megawatts emerge out of the telephones, multiplying greatly in number the Megawatts zip around all things containing electricity, including vehicles and power lines. A Megawatt manically laughs in front of some people that didn't run away from the Megawatts. the Megawatt zips away
"Ben please tell me that things charged." Gwen said
"Nope I'm still in the red." Ben said as he grabbed his gun (mini A/N considering calling the gun a blaster or something else) and hoverboard from his pockets. they hear some explosions. all of the Megawatts appear on the giant hot dog exhibit and laugh at once, producing a sonic scream. everybody except the mayor covers their ears. the sonic scream breaks the glass containing the world's largest toothpicks causing them to fall towards the crowd making everyone runs for cover except for the mayor. the toothpicks land all around him
"There goes the world's largest toothpicks. Oh, the humanity." the mayor says as he eats popcorn
the Megawatts laugh, then scatter
"Those creeps' idea of good, clean fun is gonna have us all pushn up daisies." Max said
"Hey doofus is that thing charged up yet?" Gwen asked Ben
"It's going to take a couple more minutes." Ben said as he looks around, he saw one of the Megawatts seems to be commanding the other Megawatts in their language. they collectively zip away
"That csnt be good." Ben said as suddenly an explosion occurs in one of the shops. the Megawatts appear to have taken over the planetarium exhibit. it has a humanoid shape, sparkling with electricity and walks away
"Grandpa-" gwen was about to say but Max finished it for her
"The Rust Bucket." Max said as the three Tennysons turned to the Rust Bucket they see that the Megawatts have removed the tires of the Rust Bucket and written "U AM LAME" on the side, as well as smiley faces drawn all over it
"Oh, my." Max said in shock
"U am lame? That's weak." Ben said
"And don't even get me started on the grammar and the spelling." Gwen said
"I reckon they'll head for the big hydroelectric dam to power up. After that, they'll just wipe out the next town and so on and son on. They think it's funny. Yup. Megawatts got a real twisted sense of humor." the mayor said making Ben and Gwen jump again
"Ack. Stop doing that." Ben said as Gwen observes the largest fishbowl and smile
"You thinking what I'm thinking?" Gwen asked Ben who was confused at first then noticed what Gwen was staring at and grinned
"Yeah. Beat those pranksters at their own game" Ben said as the Omnitrix suddenly turned green
a couple minutes later at the dam, the humanoid planetarium is busy trying to smash through the dam. a column of flame then engulfs it. the planetarium walks back and looks up to see Heatblast on top of the dam
"This is your only warning. Knock off the funny business or I'll fry your twinkling butts!" Heatblast said as the planetarium hits the dam hard, causing it to crack and leak water. the tremor shakes Heatblast. he hops and runs downwards. he seems to trip and inadvertently creates a flaming fireboard and rides on it. approaching the ground, he try's aiming the fireboard up and it seems to hover off the ground while still moving
"Wow." Heatblast said as he jumps off the fireboard which dissipated after a few seconds of him jumping off. he looks at the cracks in the dam
"Better seal that up, fast." Heatblast said as he runs towards the dam. some distance behind him, the planetarium gets up and moves to the turbines absorbing the energy. near the turbines, a large tarp covering a sphere-shaped object can be seen. as the giant planetarium approaches the turbines, Heatblast arrives, riding another fireboard. he seems confident and getting the hang of his ability as he approaches the planetarium. But Heatblast loses control of his fireboard and crashes into a nearby wall. he goes down on his knees, dazed. the planetarium walks closer and hits him away. Heatblast feels dizzy and falls down
"Uhhhh... Ungh! Man that hurt." Heatblast said
"Hey, mega-wimps! You wanna see something really funny? You guys are all wet!" Gwen yells as she sprays water at it with a hose to annoy it. Gwen runs away as the planetarium tries to punch her. Behind the planetarium, Heatblast recovers and makes a large fireball
"What's the matter? Can't take a joke?" Hetbast asked as throws the fireball at the planetarium, obliterating it. The Megawatts zip out of the structure
"You really got burned with that one. You guys should really quit while you're behind." Heatblast taunts the Megawatts who try to attack him, but he disappears in a cloud of smoke. he immediately reappears near the tarp
"Missed me, doofus!" Heatblast said as he waves and blows kisses at them. the Megawatts are annoyed and attack recklessly. Heatblast gets inside the tarp and the Megawatts follow him in. Max and Gwen appear from behind the tarp
"Ben did it! They took the bait!" Max said as he pulls the tarp off, revealing the largest fishbowl, filled with the Megawatts inside. Heatblast shows up and breathes fire like a dragon. he completely seals up the bowl by melting the top. the Megawatts are trapped inside. Heatblast presses the symbol on his chest and in a green flash was back to normal
"I kinda feel bad for the little guys." Ben said as he looks at the Megawatts
"Maybe one day and nice touch using that fishbowl. With non-conductive glass." Max said
"Once again, science saves the day." Gwen says with a smirk
30 minutes later back in Sparksville
"I hope this adventure wasn't a big setback for Sparksville. Max said
"More like giant step forward. What, with our new attraction, soon we'll be raking 'em in." the mayor said while removes the tarp off of an object to reveal a giant light bulb
"Biggest light bulb! It'll be a humdinger." the mayor said as it is revealed that the light bulb is powered by the Megawatts who are trapped inside
"So long as folks mind the signs." the mayor said looking at Ben and Gwen for a moment before walking away
"Um ok so... we might of accidently let the Megawatts out." Ben said with a nervous smile while rubbing the back of his head. Max sighs before smiling
"Well at least the problem is fixed now, and you've learned you lesson right?" Max asked his two grandchildren who both nodded
a couple minutes later the Tennysons where in the Rust Bucket and drove away none of them noticed a spark of green inside the Rust Bucket
and that's the end of this chapter I'm going to admit it was hard coming up with what to do but I think it's an ok chapter and heres the known aliens
