"Pathetic, they couldn't even defend themselves and they thought they would conquer the Stolen Lands?" Tartuccio muttered, another three rooms and four more dead adventurers.

Their hope of finding more people is growing dim.

"Is everyone dead? Oh no…" Linzi muttered as we opened a door to what appeared to be a kitchen with no one inside, quickly exiting the door she heard the sounds of battle just down the hall.

"IT'S THE END FOR YOU RATS!" A loud voice echoed as we entered the hall. The tall woman wearing her fur armor wielding a giant sword was holding off three assassins, her sword crushing into them.

"Archer left, skill! Linzi right!" She could feel her energy decrease as Archer shot out a thin purple arrow that exploded in poison on one of the assassins, as Linzi's bolts shot into the one on the right, his face contorting in pain as he fell to the ground.

"Hack" her magic circuits flared as she raised her hand towards the third assassin, he fell to the ground and their head was cleaved from their body by the Giant Sword user.

"Oh… It's you. Stay out of my way or I'll strike you down!" Amiri spit on the floor as she glared at the purple gnome who gave her a sneer. She impaled the one on the floor with her oversized sword that Linzi was unable to finish off.

"We are allies, we should work together Amiri." Linzi said, waving her down as she looked up at the towering woman.

Amiri looked like she thought about it for a moment before shaking her head, "Not with that pipsqueak." She grunted as she lifted her sword giving another sneer at the gnome.

"Blood for Gorum!" Amiri screams out as she charges towards what sounds like more fighting.

"Stupid barbarians."

"I think that's what heroes should be! Charging head first into battle with no regard for their own safety but to protect everyone else!"

"To throw around that size of a sword, I wouldn't want to be hit by it, Master."

Hakuno nodded, as she felt a wave of cold erupt from the next room alongside a loud crash. They entered the next room which from what she could recall was one of the entryways to the mansion.

Hakuno, Linzi and Tartuccio ran through seeing a blue giant crush through going deeper into the keep but also blocking the way he was going.

"I think there is a way around, come on!" Linzi said as she darted to an empty door.

Hakuno paused, she was fairly certain that if she goes through the hole left from the giant she should be able to leave. She could go and find a new place to settle, not that she has any real marketable skills other than her knowledge of being a student in the year 2030s, and perhaps even less so now that she is in a land of magic.

"Your orders Master?"

Hakuno felt her heart clench as she bolted after Linzi deeper into the mansion, she hated fighting, she wasn't a hero, but.

What else could she do? She valued her own life, killed many to keep it, but could she walk away without seeing it through to the end? Perhaps… Perhaps she did wish to go on an adventure? A land full of magic and wonder would she actually want to stay cooped up in a house somewhere and live her whole life without experiencing the world?

That along with somewhat enjoying the company of the little Halfling meant she should at least ensure that she survives the night.

"And she doesn't want to be a hero…" Robin muttered without his Master hearing "There goes my easy way out."

Hakuno had Robin help her over some more broken boards, "An Armory! I'm sure that Jamandi wouldn't mind if we borrowed some of their weapons!"

Tartuccio ran inside, ignoring as Robin had already peeked in to ensure no one was inside.

"What have we here!?" The gnome said as he opened a small chest. "This chest is full of gold! I'm guessing it's the guards' salaries, well those freeloaders don't seem to be working hard for it, perhaps we should pocket it instead?" On the wall next to the table stood several key hooks and, with Hakuno's rough estimation of where they were, took the keys to the next few hallways just in case.

Hakuno hesitated for a moment before shaking her head, the look of annoyance across his face. "What no! We're heroes not thieves!"

"I am kind of a thief… I'll take from her personal funds, but I don't want to steal from those trying to make a normal living."

"Who said we were stealing it? We are just going to hold it for safety! Just so the assassins don't get it! And then we can hand it over to Lady Jamandi when this is all over!"

Hakuno thought about it from that angle, keeping it away from the assassins would be smart, but the look that Tartuccio gave reminded her of the look that Francis Drake had before they did their 'race'.

"We should hurry."

She said as she turned around and opened the next door using the newly acquired key, thankful that they didn't have to rely on Robin's lockpicking.

"Not that I was the best at it, but with the knowledge of traps it also gave me new ideas on how to unlock locks. And I keep finding lockpicks in my pocket…"

"It was just a suggestion!" He yelled after her.

In the next hall stood a pale looking elf? Hakuno was pretty sure that she was an elf. "Oh familiar faces… Grateful that you aren't swinging at every shadow. It is me Jaethal, I was at the banquet. I don't recommend you going down this hallway, it seems to have been heavily trapped."

"On it Master."

"How did they," Tartuccio pointed at the multiple dead bodies around her, "End up dead while you don't seem to have a scratch?" Hakuno could feel his magic flicker for a moment as she saw sparks light up around his fingers.

"I'll answer briefly, I am an undead and the traps are against the living, you can be scared and get further explanations when we are not being hunted down by assassins."

"Done."

Hakuno nodded, "Traps disabled lets keep going."

"And why should we trust you? You have yet to attack or cast a spell this entire time, should we not let this… undead thing go ahead and trigger them all?" Tartuccio said, his eyes glaring at her.

Hakuno glanced downward to him as she began walking through where the traps were not a single one activating. From her quick glance she couldn't see anyone inside any of the side rooms.

"Heh." She could hear Linzi laugh at the gnome as she ran up and caught up with her.

"I did find some potions master, from my quick check they seemed to be healing potions they should come in handy." She could feel Robin hand her a few glass potion bottles.

She looked and saw that the small glass bottles held a reddish liquid in them as she stored a few away into one of her pockets.

A wave of heat came from the next door as she saw a bolt of fire slam into the nearby wall "Ha! It's going to take more than that to kill me!"

Hakuno, Robin, Jaethal, Linzi and Tartuccio ran outside to see the dwarf and tiefling girl from before fighting off against several assassins, Hakuno saw Linzi pull out a lyre and play some music, waves of sound filled magic infused them letting Hakuno's already insane focus be enhanced.

The tiefling flung another ball of flame at an assassin and it struck true as the rest of their entourage got together to fight the assassins.

Hakuno could feel the heat in the area begin to rise with one lobbing balls of fire and another throwing waves of fire. Several bolts fired from the Archer with the sounds of a lyre encouraging everyone.

"Everything is so much more fun with a little fire!" The tiefling said, throwing the last ball of flame at the assassin.

"This is it. My time has come… Take my soul oh Groetus." The dwarf fell to the ground as Hakuno ran up to him, channeling some of her magic circuits to perform her healing spell.

"Minor Heal." Hakuno muttered as she could feel the very minor wounds stitch as the dwarf shivered. Tartuccio scoffed at Hakuno and the dwarf as he and the Tiefling ran towards the other side of the plaza.

'This mansion is way too big!'

"I can sense your silhouette hovering over me… Soon, we shall meet, oh lord of oblivion."

"What are you saying you barely got a scratch!" Linzi said as she bound over.

"That's impossible!" The dwarf exclaimed as Hakuno sighed as he inspected his body and she stood up, "Oh it seems you might be right… it seems I will live I suppose, not for long, I am sure. But while we remain in this world I, Harrim, thank you for your service."

"Groetus is a god of doom and the absolute end. Why would anyone willingly follow him?"

"People who are inclined to see the end of the world? Or perhaps someone without hope? I knew of several in life that would willingly follow a god such as him. Maybe we should've left when we had the chance."

Hakuno heard someone yelling as she saw a man in full plate ordering some of the few remaining soldiers. "Some of our guests survived… Good, you need to get to the banquet hall and help our Lady Jamandi! Head through the fire and you will end up at the entrance, the fire is mostly gone, just a lot of smoke left."

Hakuno looked inside, seeing the smoldering fire inside and eyed the fountain in the center of the area. "My cloak should protect you somewhat from the flames as they don't seem to be magical, oh and you're already dousing yourself in water."

"Who are you? Do you need any help?" Linzi asked while dunking herself in the water as well.

The man waved his gauntleted hand as his helmed gaze looked down on the now four individuals as Robin took off his cloak and wrapped it around Hakuno, "No we will manage, and I am Kesten Garess, Leader of the mansion guards just head to the first door on the right and meet up with Lady Jamandi Aldori! We will be right behind you once we extinguish the flames!."

Hakuno now dripping wet alongside Linzi and Jaethal ran into the door, holding her sleeve in front of her face to block out the smoke. Hakuno ignored the looks that the others gave Robin as to them, he appeared out of nowhere even if Linzi knew she was a 'summoner' Robin has stayed hidden for the entire time.

'This is so stupid!' Hakuno thought to herself as she ran into the still somewhat burning building.

Hakuno heard multiple voices as she ran into the door following his directions. Making it to the hall before the banquet hall Hakuno took a breath of relatively fresh air.

"There are two more wounded. Help me pull them out!" A woman wearing full plate yelled, a giant shield on her back as she held a soldier in her arms.

Hakuno looked at where Robin was and could feel his annoyance as he dashed back into the fire, his mobility letting him get the two guards in and out quickly, his green armor shielding him from the flames slightly as he worked quickly.

"Thank you, my name is Valerie. That was truly noble of you. Let us Rush to Lady Aldori's aid!" Hakuno handed Robin and the other guards a potion as Tartuccio eyed him suspiciously.

"My, as you call them eidolon?" Hakuno paused to ensure that was the right word, "Takes the form of a human, he is an ally."

"Yo." Robin said, doing a wave towards the group.

"You have to tell me more about that later!" Linzi said, her eyes shining.

"Agreed." Valerie said as the party opened the door leading to the banquet hall.

The banquet hall was, for the most part still together, broken tables here and there, rubble from the giant smashing his way into the door and a dozen odd bandits watching the Giant and Aldori fight one on one inside a giant barrier.

"Master, I should be able to take out the ones in the corner without them noticing." Hakuno handed back his cloak as he became invisible once more to get into position.

Hakuno could feel her magic circuits spring back to life, a spell she knew but didn't know filled her mind as Jaethal grew in size, almost the height of the Frozen Giant in the barrier after Robin managed to pick off one in the corner.

"Jaethal the one in the center seems to be the leader!"

Jaethal with a gleam in her eyes brought down her scythe on the unexpecting assassins, their bodies not able to stop the giant scythe. Several of them being cut down while a few dodged around her being shot at by Robin and the Tiefling girl now throwing bolts of water?

"Tartuccio, focus down the mages! They seem to be keeping the barrier up. Harim protect him! Linzi bring back your song!" The dwarf nodded as he sluggishly made his way over to the purple gnome, his mace smashing into the assassins trying to hit them.

Flashes of flame and ice erupted from Tartuccio as he combated one of their mages as Linzi began playing her song, its music inspiring their attacks to aim true.

Hakuno sent out more of her only daming spell, Hack, distracting the other mages as Valerie stood beside her, blocking the few arrows and knives that got near her. Amiri coming out from the other side also helped, the barbarian cleaving through multiple of the assassins with one sweep of her oversized sword.

Hakuno felt her magic circuits begin to tire, but she kept an eye on the battlefield and saw one of the mages hiding, keeping up the barrier. A quick heads up to Robin and the mage had a bolt in his head.

Hakuno noticed, once the barrier came down, that Jamandi Aldori had managed to cut off both the legs of the giant before decapitating it along with what appeared to be a giant lion with draconic wings slowly dissolving.

Hakuno felt a hand on her back as Robin stood behind her, "This is a real mess you got us in Master."

Author's Note: Well ain't this a pickle for our lovely Master? Multiple dead bodies, a sort of impressed Swordlord and multiple possible companions for her journey to make her own slice of life! Would Hakuno like to be queen? Probably not, most certainly she becomes one in Extella, but she doesn't really rule and seems to leave it to her Servants. But, at the same time she was the Sovereign of the Moon Cell and has amazing Charisma, at least in my opinion, able to get all sorts of evil and good Servants to work together against a common foe.

Hakuno's Hack works similar to the Daze spell from my understanding, just instead of just humanoids its any creature, still has a chance of failing and more so against beings with magic resistance or just in general stronger monsters or those able to avoid it via speed... as we ain't in the Moon Cell anymore! I do have plans for events to change later down the line, kind of feel like the first half of act 1 and prologue are a bit too important to the actual story of Kingmaker.
