It was a beautiful day outside. Birds were singing. Flowers were blooming. On this special day, which was a non-school day, her heart was overflowing with happiness.

Today was her sixteenth birthday, an important milestone for young maidens. She was no longer a little girl.

Yaoyorozu Momo was a woman, an adult, and a more respectable member of society. Her euphoric meter was overloading, but she didn't care. She was excited to begin her new burgeoning adulthood.

The day started out with a nice long chat with her parents, whom wished her a happy birthday and made plans to take her out for dinner.

Breakfast was prepared by Sato, and her classmates surprised her with an energetic "Happy Birthday!"

Afterwards, she had opened presents while trying her hardest not to cry by the love and laughter she shared with her friends. How could she not shine her absolute brightest?

"So, whatcha got planned, Yaomomo?" Mina inquired. "You going out with Shu-kun?"

"My parents wanted me to have dinner with them tonight," she replied. "I haven't heard from Teddy yet though. He normally texts me around this time."

"Hmm, suspicious," Hagakure commented. "He's definitely planning something. He has a knack for surprising you."

Momo giggled. Her taciturn boyfriend had a gift for making Momo feel like the happiest girl in the world. She became apparent of that when their love affair started with the love letters he left for her.

"That he does," she replied. "I should be used to it, but he always manages to impress."

"He's a guy in love," Mina said. "It's their job to make sure their girl is always happy."

"I'm sure he'll do something special for you," Hagakure said. "Just you wait and see."

And she was right. The dorm's doorbell rang almost immediately.

"Called it," the invisible girl stated.

"Hold on, that could be anyone," the birthday girl replied. She went to answer, picturing what mystical event was waiting for her on the other side. Her heart was pounding.

"Happy birthday, Momo-chan."

It wasn't Kyoya at the door but Momo's senpai, Tachibana Tsubaki. The bespectacled beauty of year two greeted the birthday girl with a warm smile.

"Tachibana-san, hello. Thank you so much. How are you doing?"

Momo joined Tsubaki outside, where the gentle wind ran through their hair.

"I'm doing great. I'm here with a birthday message from Kyo-kun."

Momo's ears perked up.

"He wanted me to give you this," Tsubaki presented her with a brown bag.

Momo accepted and dug through its contents. First, she found a square black and gold envelope that sealed one of Kyoya's heartwarming letters. She hastily began reading, eager to feel her boyfriend's soul.

My dearest Momo,

Hey there, beautiful. Happy birthday. I have so much I want to regale you with, so many things I wish to tell you, but there are no words that can accurately portray how much I love you. I love you so much. I love you more than any bad day that lie ahead of us. You are the sun that brightens my every day. The very thought of you fills me with warmth and happiness. I want nothing more than to hold you in my arms and float under the moon as we get lost in each other's eyes. You have given me so much, and I am so grateful. I promise to make every day of your life as special as possible. I will always be there for you, no matter what. You are my world, my everything. I love you to the moon and back, a million times over.

Please enjoy your birthday. You deserve all the happiness in the world. I'm sorry I can't be there with you now to sweep you off your feet and make you feel like the only girl in the world, but I promise to make it up to you.

Love always,

Shuzenji "Teddy" Kyoya.

Momo had to take a moment to compose herself. The words he wrote filled her with so much love and happiness.

Tsubaki laughed.

"The love between you two is sweet."

"He gets me every time. I have a binder with all the letters he sent me."

Momo wiped her face and returned the letter to its envelope.

"Okay, what else we got?"

She wasn't ready. Her heart was about to explode from euphoria that she hesitated for a moment.

The last item was rectangular black box with a silver sash tied diagonally around the lid. It was a little weighty.

"Another necklace?"

"Not this time," Tsubaki said.

Momo opened it and tilted her head to the side.

"Hmm? Is this a weapon of some kind?"

Momo studied it, twirling the wooden object. It was light but sturdy.

"Oak wood, but I don't see any engravings on it."

The stick suddenly elongated, extending to a full six feet long. Now, Momo understood.

"Ooh, it's a bo staff!" Her eyes sparkled with glee. She began practicing with it, showing Tsubaki her masterful skill. After testing it, she shrunk it down to size.

"Portable and lightweight, I love it. How did he get one that shortens?"

"A friend of his brother made it," Tsubaki answered. "She made all of our support gear, my tessen included. That half a heart necklace was made by her too."

"Amazing. I can't wait to use it."

"I didn't know you were a bojutsu specialist," Tsubaki commented. "That's interesting. You rarely see people practice traditional Japanese martial arts anymore."

"Well, I had a choice between a katana and the bo staff. The latter seemed more fitting. I should say the same about you, Tachibana-san. Tessen users are a rare breed as well."

Tsubaki's fan was a midnight blue with a white dragon pattern on both sides and the Yin-Yang motif in the center with the kanji for her name underneath.

"Shinji designed this one for me. I always keep it on me, but don't get me started on good times with Shinji. What are you doing today?"

"My friends just threw a little morning party for me. Tonight, I'm going out with my parents. In the meantime, I have a little staff to get accustomed to," Momo elongated the bo staff again and studied its features. "The craftsmanship is perfect. If you meet the engineer, please give them my thanks."

"I will. I'll let Kyo-kun know too if I catch him."

"Thank you, Tachibana-san. I really appreciate it."

Momo's smile was blinding, but deep down, she longed for her boyfriend's attention.

Later that day, after the celebrations and training with her friends, Momo rode in the limo with her family to the restaurant they would dine in. The birthday girl modeled a sleeveless green ball gown and black high heels. It was scary how much timed passed. Momo couldn't remember a day she was so over the moon, but today was definitely a contender.

However, there was still no word from Kyoya. Her boyfriend never even sent her a message. Part of her was worried. It wasn't like Kyoya to ignore her. He always got more attentive on important days, and the day celebrating Momo's sixteenth birthday should've been crucial. She could accept hero work getting in the way, but that didn't stop the worrying.

When they arrived, Momo was shocked to see the patrons in full masquerade masks. It was a grandiose and elegant setting, worthy of a birthday dinner for a young lady.

"Honey," Momo's father spoke up, "Please enjoy what we have in store."

"What do you mean?" Momo inquired, raising a brow.

"Let's head inside first," her mom responded with a smile.

Momo entered the establishment not knowing what to expect. After getting checked in, she was presented with a variety of masks. It was a difficult choice, but in the end, she did her nickname proud and selected the cat mask, eliciting a giggle from her parents, furthering her confusion.

"Okay, now I'm really curious."

It was a buffet style banquet. A wide array of delicious foods from all over the world adorned the tables. The servers were all masked as well, and the music was a mixture of classical and modern pop. Momo's confusion only mounted when she saw the band get up after finishing their song and leave the stage. Then, another quartet arrived to take their place, but every member wore the same silver fox mask.

The music resumed, and the first thing Momo noticed was the singer's voice. It was beautiful, angelic even, and it sounded oddly familiar.

"Wait a minute…"

The singer motioned for the spotlights to shift and focus on Momo, who was suddenly the only person on the dancefloor.

"Good evening, everyone," the singer announced. "I would like to start out and say happy birthday to the young lady under the spotlight. Her name is Yaoyorozu Momo, and I know it would make her night if everyone wished her a happy birthday."

The masses broke out in a rousing applause, congratulating Momo on her special day.

"Now, if the birthday girl would please come up on stage," the singer requested.

Momo was in shock. Her heart was pounding so hard she thought it might burst.

Her father escorted her on stage while her mother recorded the event with her phone.

The singer finally removed their mask, and Momo was met with the best emerald-green eyes she had ever seen.

"Happy birthday, Yaomomo-chan, from Kaoru Shinji."

"Shin."

"Shino."

"And Shinichi."

"You are live with Siren's Vanity," the quartet revealed their faces.

Momo whipped around and saw her parents waving at her, but when she turned back to the brothers, they were standing away from her, and in their place was a tall figure wearing a black tuxedo and a bear shaped mask over his face.

Momo was rendered speechless.

The figure removed the mask and flashed their iconic toothy grin. At the same time, Momo covered her mouth, unable to find her voice.

"Told you I'd make it up to you."

Kyoya pulled his girlfriend in for a hug.

Momo was in tears, but she didn't care.

"Are you serious?"

Kyoya's grin enlarged.

"When I go big, I go all out."

It was too much. A brand-new weapon and letter to add to her arsenal, dining at a fine restaurant, and then having one of Japan's best singers serenade her on their livestream for thousands of people to witness, it was just too much for Momo to handle.

She cried.

Momo cried and buried herself in Kyoya's embrace. She loved every second.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you," she repeated.

"Anything for you, Kitty."

They kissed, and it electric. She would easily consider it the greatest kiss they ever shared.

The crowd went wild, and Siren's Vanity played on.

Momo was the happiest girl in the world, and she would never forget this day for the rest of her life.

"I love you, Teddy."

"I love you too, Kitty. Happy birthday."
