Chapter 31

"It's quiet on the Western Front," Agent Smith announced to the group over speaker phone. After everyone had been updated on the information that had been discovered at the Fortress and from Lyla, they had finished working on the Phantom Zone Projector. Brainy refused to admit that he was glad for the update that Kelex had given them. Now they all worked toward getting the Tower back up and running.

"That's disconcerting," Kara admitted.

"I don't disagree. We'll keep you posted. Let us know how your work is going," the former DEO agent told her.

"Will do. Thank you," with that the phone called ended.

"I'm hungry. Anyone else need something to eat?" Nia asked. Alex had gone and picked up the human-Naltorian hybrid from the hospital. The EMT's who had arrived on scene at CatCo. did not want her to go home after her little accident, citing that she needed a CAT scan, she had hit her head after all. Despite not wanting to go, Nia did not object. It would let her get out of work and help the team. So, when the doctors were convinced that she wasn't in danger, she'd called Brainy. Alex had answered his phone because he was up to his eyeballs in code to reprogram the enlarged Projector. While the original application wasn't going to work, it would allow them to cover a larger area to zap back to the inter-dimensional archipelago. The Coulan and Lena were still trying to figure out how to make it more portable but that could come later, since they still had the regular sized model at the Tower.

"That sounds like a good idea. We all need something to eat," Kate spoke up.

"I'll take care of that. You guys keep working," J'onn smiled. M'gann went with him and the group returned to their cleaning and setting up. Kate and Lena were helping Brainy getting the computers set back up. Some parts had been able to be salvaged but there were other parts that were totally garbage. Kate had called Luke, who was able to locate the parts at the local Wayne Enterprises warehouse. It wasn't a short trip, but when Luke called up the warehouse and told them that Kate Kane needed those parts delivered to her hotel. Since the Wayne Enterprises office was still occupied by the FBI and only the scientists were allowed to be in secure areas noted by the federal agency, it didn't raise much attention by the warehouse workers. Still the parts would not be delivered to the hotel for another hour.

"I am so very sorry that I did this," Alura repeated her apologies from earlier as she and Alex were checking over the science equipment off to the side.

"You didn't have any control over yourself. This whole thing could have been much worse," Alex said.

"When was the last time anyone here got any decent sleep?" Nia interrupted the group again. She had been sweeping and picking up anything heading for the dumpster. Kara was helping her.

"Define decent," Kate chuckled.

"That's what I figured," her friend said.

"Well after we eat, people will be ready for a nap but I'm not sure that everyone should go home. We don't know how Nyxlygsptlnz was able to control my mother or J'onn. We don't know where she is, which makes me nervous," Kara admitted.

"I think I might have a way to locate her, but we need everyone at one hundred percent. It won't do us any good if half of you are asleep on your feet," Mxy said.

"Ok after our meal, we'll start napping in shifts," the blonde agreed. That's when they heard the elevator. The doors opened to reveal the Martians.

"Hope you're hungry," J'onn smiled. They had brought two pizzas, pot stickers, fries, and drinks. It didn't take much encouragement as the team jumped on the meal. Kate finished eating and said she had to run to the hotel to get the parts that were being dropped off. Kara offered to go with and the brunette accepted. They were about to go down to the former DEO van parked at the curb when Alex's phone rang. Everyone froze.

"Danvers," she hadn't even checked to see who it was.

"Whoa, slow down babe," that immediately told them it was Kelly. The former Obsidian North employee apparently found something of note in the servers they'd tapped into.

"I'll tell everyone. Come to the Tower. We have some food and you can get some sleep," Alex told her before ending the call with an "I love you".

"What is it?" Kate asked.

"Kelly says she found what she thinks Andrea was trying to keep hidden. There are documents with Lex's signature on them and plans of some sort. The DEO is giving her a copy of the files for us to take a look at. They're continuing to dig to see if this thing was actually created," Alex started.

"What did she think it was?" Kara knew that while Kelly was a gifted psychologist, she did not necessarily know weapons or sophisticated tech.

"Kelly said the word that really caught her attention was Kryptonite followed by a formula. It seems that Andrea had helped Lex find a way of making it and they intended to use it," Alex swallowed.

"No wonder they didn't want that falling into the FBI's hands or mine," Kate frowned.

"It isn't the formula that I used. I never shared it and I destroyed it after…" Lena started.

"I know. Let's be glad that this has come to us now. With the DEO continuing to dig, we can focus on our Fifth Dimensional Imp problem and hopefully get Tatiana," Kara hugged Lena, hoping that it reassured her friend.

"We better get a move on. There's more work to be done," Kate's mood had soured some. Kara intended to ask her about it on the car ride.
