Surprise! Not only updated Inherited but due to ongoing demand decided to circle back to this.

Also, instead of a two-shot this will now be a three-shot because I lack self-control and got carried away with some creative writing. Hope this satiates ya'll for now.

Enjoy!

Breathe.

One, two, three.

Out.

One, two, three.

She had kept repeating the mantra to herself as she burrowed into his muscular chest, Elliot holding her tightly in his arms in the backseat of his Chevy Suburban. In the driver's seat, Fin was repeatedly checking the rearview mirror to make sure everything was kosher as the three made their way to the hospital. They were a few minutes out, but as they found out, time meant nothing to Olivia as she continued to ride the wave of the unknown toxin. While the frequency of her visual hallucinations seemed to be fading, her auditory ones had ramped up, causing concern amongst the other two detectives. Olivia was back to grabbing at her head, her ears, screaming for everything to stop.

For Elliot to make it stop.

Swallowing the lump in his throat, Elliot would reassure her each time that they were getting help and that she would be better soon, repeating his own mantra out loud to his terrified former partner as he did his best to keep her grounded in the present.

Stay with me, Liv.

Just stay with me.

Getting her into the emergency room had been a disaster. Evidently Rollins had called ahead to let them know the Captain of Manhattan's 16th Precinct was both wounded and unwillingly under the influence of an unidentified drug; therefore the cavalry was sent out. As they entered the ER a swarm of nurses approached, causing Olivia to back herself up into the two men, cowering.

Before Fin or Elliot could say anything, a doctor approached and took charge and ushered all three of them into a more private curtained off area. Elliot assisted Olivia onto a gurney and remained by her side while Fin guarded, watching each and every person who was coming in and out of their space.

"All right, Captain. Can you tell me where you are?" The doctor asked as he pulled on his gloves.

Elliot watched as she flinched when the latex snapped back against the clinician's hand, raising an eyebrow at Fin who was skillfully avoiding his stare.

"I'm at Mercy Hospital." She whispered.

"Great. What day is it?"

"June 20th, 2021."

"And who's here with you?"

"My sergeant Fin Tutuola and my former partner Elliot Stabler."

"Is there anyone else here?"

Silence.

"…Captain?" The doctor prompted as he checked her pupil dilation.

"Olivia. My name is Olivia. Olivia." She murmured repeatedly, as if she were convincing herself instead of correcting the doctor.

Fin, his concern peaking, started to move towards the gurney and stopped a few paces besides Elliot.

"Ok…Olivia is anyone else here?"

More silence…and then.

"Yes." She rushed out as she grabbed Elliot's hand, suddenly feeling unsteady.

"Who is it?"

"…him."

"What's his name?"

"If I say his name, he'll appear. I can't. I can't say it." She said breathlessly as the hysterics started once more. She began panting, rubbing her free hand across the rough denim of her pants, grounding herself.

"Liv? Hey, it's all right. You're all right." Elliot soothed as he pulled her hand to his chest and squeezed it, eyeing her cautiously.

The overwhelming feeling of dread worsened as a voice in her head came forward. Before she could stop herself from manifesting it, a shadowy figure started to appear in the most recessed corner of her mind, an eerie scarred smile growing unnaturally on its face.

Every morning, every eveningain't we got fun?
Not much money, oh, but honey; ain't we got fun?

Him.

"El." She whimpered as she shut her eyes, doing her best to keep her anxiety from growing.

"I'm right here. Talk to us, Liv. What's going on?"

"I can't…I can't…breathe. I…ahhh!" She shrieked as ripped her hand from Elliot's and struggled to inhale. Her face had paled significantly and her body began to tremble. The fear was settling in despite her best efforts, creeping its way up her body and sitting on her chest.

"If she does not calm down, I'm going to have to interfere." The doctor warned the two men as he held a stethoscope to her back, hearing her hyperventilate.

Elliot turned back to look at Fin who was standing there shaking his head, seemingly at a loss for knowing what to do. All they knew was that if they didn't placate her, didn't stop whatever was coming, that it was not going to be good.

"Liv, look at me. Focus on me."

She opened her eyes and kept them trained on Elliot's as the voice inside her head grew louder.

"This the partner? Who'd break my arms? Legs?" Lewis's disembodied voice taunted.

"Stop. Stop it." She griped.

"Will he kick my teeth in?" He roared, sending her brain and remaining senses into overdrive.

Screaming, Olivia launched herself off of the gurney and into Elliot, burrowing herself into his chest.

"We need to go, he wants to hurt you too!"

"No one can't hurt you and no one can hurt me. There's no one else here. I swear to god, Liv."

"Yes he is! He's fucking everywhere, he's in my head! I want him out of my head!" She screeched in anguish as she pulled at her hair; Elliot immediately responded, trying to pry open her fists before she hurt herself.

"That's it, I've seen enough. Nurse! I need a syringe and lorazepam!"

"No! No, don't sedate me. Don't sedate me, please. Please!" Olivia begged as tears started streaming down her face.

As she spotted the nurse coming forward, she quickly pushed Elliot into her and ran out of the cornered off area. Fin tripped over the nurse who had fallen to the floor in the scuffle as he tried to head Olivia off, tumbling himself and falling out into the hallway. Luckily, Elliot had quickly recovered and was already chasing after her, determined to catch up to her before she escaped from their care and injured herself further.

He caught her by the waist at the end of the hallway, just before she reached the staircase door. She threw her head back, expertly colliding with Elliot's nose causing him to grunt in pain. He felt the blood start to run down his chin and drip onto Olivia's shoulder. All of these erratic movements had also agitated her neck wound, she too bleeding and soaking through her shirt.

"I don't want to go under, I don't want to feel like that again!" She cried out as her and Elliot continued to struggle in each other's grasp, slipping as crimson liquid continued to dribble forth from the both of them.

Blindsided by this unseen side of her, he was left speechless as they slowly sunk down to the floor together. Over the course of their partnership, Elliot had seen nearly every side of Olivia. As she once said, he knew every part of her even the ones she wanted to forget, but this? This was a totally different beast. Something he wasn't prepared for, couldn't be prepared for. It simply did not match up with the Olivia he knew.

Behind him he could hear Fin yelling at the doctor, accusing him of not paying attention to her file and traumatizing her further.

She has a file here?

"It says no needles, man! No fucking needles, no sedatives, no opiates! Get me someone else who can read!" Fin raged.

Elliot turned his attention back to Olivia who had since stilled in his arms. Her eyes were glazed over and she looked as if she simply wasn't here with him. He's seen this before. Countless times over the years he had seen victims disassociate, their minds shutting down and protecting themselves from emotion overload.

Oh god. Victim. Olivia was a victim.

He had indeed heard her in her office when she incoherently spoke about being handcuffed to a bed and beating this Lewis guy senseless but he was so hell bent on getting her help, he didn't really reconcile the thought.

"El…" She whispered faintly, capturing his attention. "I think…I think he's gone."
