thunderofdeath97: Why GigaDatamon? To be unique and to give the personal touch to Sora. Plus, makes sense to turn the dead dino into a mech suit. Why not Chaosmon? Because the design doesn't feel that special. Why not Milleniamon? Because that guy is so boeing and generic in Fanfiction, everyone uses him as some big threat. Also, a final reason, is for the personal connection with Sora.
Neo Infinity: That is because Mimi was not a "princess" trope in Japan. She was just the regular kid (her parents having a lot of money, which they didn't even have THAT much if I remember right) was never really brought up, she just wasn't one for exercise and was use to the world being 'normal'.

Survival In The Broken Digital World
The DigiDestined were expecting the end, they thought they were going to be killed.
But no.
They felt lifted, being carried. And rushing with great speed in the arms and fur of some Digimon. They all closed their eyes, gripping whatever they could tightly as they rushed through the air. In some of their hands, some felt fur. The others felt hard steel and bone.
'Oh god. We're going to die!' They thought in worry, with all of them gripping their partners in fear. But they stayed close, they would be together.
Angewomon, MagnaAngemon and MetalGarurumon where hunched over the group, ready to protect them from anything...
"We are here, children." A gruff but almost fatherly voice spoke as the sprinting came to a stop
The DigiDestined soon stopped and collapsed down onto the floor... which felt... plush?
Huh?
A plush floor?
They opened their eyes as she looked around and felt an overwhelming sense of nostalgia. TK most especially. "This is... Primary Village..." He whispered weakly in awe
"'Primary Village'?" Meiko asked in confusion.
"It's still standing." Tai agreed.
"Yeah, and the last bit of colour in the Digital World." A deep growling voice responded.
The DigiDestined looked up at the two Digimon in awe as they saw their saviours. "It's been a while, DigeDestined. Miss us?" The tall one spoke.
The tall one was a green-skinned muscular Digimon, wearing bronzed skull armour on his boots, shins and over his arms like gauntlets and bracers. Green metal shin guards with rib cage metal clasped them together on his legs; red lines marked dark green armour on his thighs. Horned green skulls with red markings and bronze rings. The left arm's bracer was black with a rib cage for a motif, while the right arm's bracer had thick fur. The head of the Digimon had a bent bronze horned helm that covered his face, and grey wires coming from the back of his head.
Next to him was a large yellow furred with red striped sabretooth tiger, large black claws with three black elbow claws, two long digi-code inscribed sabretooth tiger canines, piercing blue eyes and a large yellow mane with red tips. "It has been a long time."
Mimi, Joe, Tanemon and Bukamon looked up at the large Sabretooth Tiger and began to whimper. "L-Leomon?" Mimi whispered
"You're back." Joe followed up.
"Hello children. It took some time to be reborn, to find myself again, but yes. I am back." The mighty lion bowed
"And he was a real tough bastard to keep a leash on during his Rookie stage, I'll tell you that." The large green Digimon said with a powerful chortal, it's voice dark and grumpy
"Wait... Is-? No way. Ogremon?" Matt asked as they looked at him.
"It's 'Titamon' now." The green Digimon responded, correcting them kindly
"H-Hello." Meiko looked on at the two Mega Level Digimon. "I'm Meiko Mochizuki."
"A pleasure Ms Meiko." SaberLeomon responded.
"Ah, you've got ANOTHER new one!" Titanmon asked
"You both Digivolved..." Tai commented with a smile
"Yes. A necessity to battle this darkness. A darkness that has taken even Gennai." SaberLeomon frowned "But enough of that. Follow me, there are others waiting."
"'Others'?" Joe asked as they followed SaberLeomon.
"You didn't think we were the only ones to survive; right?" Titamon commented.
"From what the Digital World looks like, we weren't sure." Sora answered.
"Princess Mimi? Are you okay?" Otamamon and Gekomon asked.
"It's just... seeing old friends again." She reassured them. The three 'wild' Digimon smiled gently as they were in a safe location, protected by various Mega levels and the DigiDestined.
The group where silent, looking at all of the different Mega Digimon around the area. There were humanoid Megas, Dinosaur and Dragonic, Cyborg and Plant-based Megas. This was The Resistance. These were the Digimon who were the last bastion of hope in the Digital World.
"Leomon... what happened?" Bukamon asked from Joe's arms
"UltimateChaosmon is a creature we do not fully understand." SaberLeomon frowned "He appeared one day, as far as we can tell. And his power lets him rewrite the very Digital World's data itself. Allowing him to manipulate Digimon, from their level to their personality."
"He got Gennai, was able to even manipulate and rewrite him." Titanmon commented as they approached a tent near the edge of the village where the eggs and baby Digimon where being kept. As they approached, they wanted to see a familiar face, Elecmon. A red-furred Digimon with purple-blue feather tail tips and ears, with markings over its body. He was the protector of Primary Village... if he was here at all.
It was a tall blue furred jackal humanoid Digimon. Golden sandals with white wings on the heels, baggy beige harem pants with black portions with Digi-Code along the side going up to his waist, where a long sash was tied around his waist like a belt. Dark blue markings on his stomach and long arms contrast the light blue fur; golden bracelets with red and gold triangles along the band; a gold and red necklace around his neck, golden bangles with blue gems inserted in the middle of his upper arms, long flowing black hair that went down his back and also bangs over his shoulders, a dark blue 'mask' on his face with red eye-markings and a pair of long golden-bronze fluffy wings.
"Children. It has been MUCH too long." the Digimon smiled as he knelt down before them "You may know me as Elecmon, or known me as. No. I am now Anubismon."
"Elecmon?" TK blinked "You... you're-"
"So fluffy!" Mimi responded seeing the soft fur on his body.
...
"Yes Mimi, I am." He sweat dropped and smiled "I did not wish to grow too strong, in fear of hurting the children. I have resisted Digivolving for so long. But unfortunately, the current situation has left me with no other options."
"At least you didn't get the 'Chrome Digizoid' treatment, that's a plus." Izzy commented.
"Yes, there is that." Anubismon answered.
"So... Are you the leader of the resistance?" Matt asked
"No, they are inside the tent." Anubismon nodded, pointing at the small tent. The almost Rookie sized tent.
"THEY? Should be interesting." Tai hummed
Angewomon glowed and shrunk down, reverting to the form of Gatomon "Let's go inside then."
"I'll stay out here." MagnaAngemon commented "I have something I need to do."
"Okay buddy." TK nodded, the group walking into the tent... Where they saw four Digimon sat around a fire, talking.
A Veemon, a Hawkmon, an Armadillomon and a Gatomon. Or, rather, variants of the species.
The Veemon did not have its white stomach or snout, nor did it have its yellow V symbol on its forehead. This Dragon's body was entirely dark blue, a deep navy, with yellow lightning bolt markings around its arms. It's hands where completely red, with three fingers per hand. Its tail ended with a lightning bolt. And out of the middle of its head was a lightning bolt shaped horn similar to Raidramon's
The Hawkmon subspecies had much brighter red feathers, where the Hawkmon they knew had almost maroon feathers this one had a deep cherry red. The white feathers on its head had changed into a bright yellow. The feather atop its head was gone. And some yellow was included with its arm-wing feathers, causing a fire like look.
The Gatomon like Digimon was covered in slightly shaggier fur, purple stripes along its arms and body. This Digimon did not wear gloves, not a holy ring. Instead it had metal bands around its four ankles and tail, each band having a few spikes. And finally it's eyes where bright red.
And finally, the Armadillomon subspecies was more reptilian. Looking like a turtle. It's body a deep green with some moss growing over its shell and a snake like tail flowing out of the back
"Ah, the chosen children. It is good to see you are safe." The blue dragon nodded
"Hi... nice to meet you?" Tai asked as he saw them. "I guess?"
"Please, take a seat." The Armadillomon asked. "We've got a lot to talk about."
"I... do we know you?" Sora asked as they all sat on their knees, looking at the group
"Technically only two of you have met us. And even then, only one of us." The Hawkmon said in annoyance "Although the old fool has helped all of you, and you should know OF him at least."
"I am sorry, but in our normal forms then UltimateChaosmon would find us easily because of our raw power." The Veemon spoke again "You knew me as Azulongmon."
"Azulongmon?!" Matt and Tai gasped.
"Then that must mean you three are-?" Izzy asked.
"Correct, the other three Digimon Soveriegn." The Gatomon answered. "I was Baihumon."
"Zhuqiaomon." The Hawkmon nodded
"And I'm Ebowumon. Though, because of our forms, we've had to go back to our Rookie states. But our time as Sovereigns have transferred over to these states." The Armadillomon responded.
"It obviously shows." Kari responded.
"So, why do you guys look like the new Digimon? Veemon, Armadillomon and Hawkmon, I mean." Joe asked.
"It's the only way our bodies can handle the power condensed down." 'Azulongmon' responded.
"Do you have any 'new names'? Or should we call you by your sovereign names?" Sora asked.
"Azuredramon." The Digimon formally known as Azulongmon said
"Vermilamon." The red bird of the south commented
"Midoramon." The black turtle of the north added.
"Shironyamon." The white tiger of the west finished.
"Quick question, please don't take this as rude... but are you in a Champion state or Rookie?" Kari asked politely.
"Rookie. This form just looks like a Gatomon." Shironyamon responded.
"We are the ancestors of most types of Digimon. Some of the first, Digivolution influenced not just through liniage but environment. Nature and nurture all at once." Midoramon explained wisely "So even though every dragon, bird, beastial and reptilian is not our direct descendant, through Digivolution and our very nature as Digimon means our DNA exist in a Digimon of those type. And our forms are similar to other thanks to that, and situations requiring similar forms."
"Wait wait wait! Slow down! ... DNA?" TK called out in confusion "But... You're all Data...?"
"Exactly." Azuredramon nodded "We are made up of Data. And like how your human cells have structure and genetics that descide how you look and develop, to an extent, the same for us Digimon. Our Data, to, contains our own DNA."
"I... Guess that makes sense." Izzy responded.
"How do you guys know so many people?" Meiko asked Tai.
"We've been at this for a long time." Matt responded.
"And this young lady is a new DigiDestined?" Midoramon asked.
"Yes, this is Meiko." Sora nodded. "And her partner Meicoomon."
"Hmm." Vermilamon frowned, his eyes narrowing as he looked at her
Meicoomon glared at Vermilamon who was checking her out. "What? I'm not into Rookies."
"No, you look...familiar." Vermilamon glared back.
"Um, a quick question, Azuredramon." Agumon asked.
"What is it?" Azuredramon responded.
"If you're the ancestors to all Digimon, does that mean all Digimon have the potential to go Mega or something?" Agumon asked.
"Of course. Technically." Azuredramon nodded "However Ultimate and Mega are not levels meant to be achieved. It is almost unnatural."
"Yeah, it took us to use the Crests and being shot by two angel Digimon to turn into Ultimates and Megas." Gabumon responded.
"Yeah. I still feel an itch between my shoulder blades when I think of it." Tai joked
"You should've said." Kari commented as she still felt guilty about that.
"So... We got any sort of plan going on or..." TK asked
"Unfortunately, no." Shironyamon frowned
"That's sad to hear." Mimi frowned.
"Yeah, it's been a straight-up battle for all of us." Midoramon agreed. "Just to stay alive."
"We've got supplies if-"
"Stop. Don't mention food. If you do, it'll be a feeding frenzy." Azuredramon commented. "There are a lot of Digimon here that will take the chance."
"What the hell..." the group blinked in shock
"Big bodies need a lot of energy." Shironyamon commented. "And the children get priority."
"And young Digimon are like black holes..." the group blinked in remembrance
"Exactly." The four Sovereigns responded in unison.
"We will see what we can do." Tai commented
"Thank you, that's all we ask of you." Vermilamon responded.
The DigiDestined sighed in relief and soon left the tent, seeing the Digimon around. Despite the number of Megas in the area, there was quite a few Ultimate Digimon. And even more Rookies who had to lower their levels to protect themselves.
"Jeez, I don't recognize a lot of Mons here." Gomamon commented as they looked around.
"Hey, that's rude." Titamon frowned.
"No, not you, Ogremon." Palmon responded, trying to be respectful.
"They're a lot of Digimon who were displaced and had to seek refuge here." SaberLeomon added. "They might be more familiar with the younger DigiDestined who came here."
"How'd you know about Davis and the others?" Kari asked.
"Word of mouth. And the Sovereigns told us." He responded.
"Oh, okay. That makes sense." Izzy responded.
"Patamon? Patamon, where are you?" TK called out.
"He is helping some old friends." Titanmon chuckled
TK blinked in confusion before looking over and sighed in relief and smiled.
Patamon, who was still MagnaAngemon, but he had changed. Instead of looking like a warrior, he looked more like a healer. His wings tucked themselves into a white cloak, white boots, black bands around his left arm, a black belt around his waist with a golden symbol of peace, his golden band that held his sword now had a blue gem, his dark purple helmet was now light lilac and his hands were glowing with a warm light as he was gently touching the Digimon around him. "There we go, you should be alright now."
"Thank you, MagnaAngemon." Several Biyomon responded gratefully as they were healed.
"Of course, anything to help." MagnaAngemon responded as he saw them healed. "Next please."
"MagnaAngemon?" TK asked as he approached the Ultimate "I've never seen this form before."
"Neither have I. But... I felt I needed to do this." MagnaAngemon answered as he helped heal the weaker Digimon. "This is a less battle focused form. Holy Mode."
"Wow, that's incredible." TK responded. "Joe might have some help in this."
"It only works with Digimon." He laughed
"Kinda what I meant, but I get it." TK chuckled lightly before frowning and sighed.
"What's wrong, TK?" MagnaAngemon asked
TK wanted to say, but not in front of the other Digimon. "Can we... talk over there? Just for a minute or two?" He pointed away from the hurt Digimon.
"Of course." His partner nodded. The two walked to the side, TK feeling a weight in his heart as he didn't want to drain morale for the Digimon there. When they were away to talk, TK sighed heavily and ran his hand through his hair. "I don't know what I'm doing, MagnaAngemon."
"What do you mean?"
TK rubbed his face nervously. "Myotis... Pied... Boltboutamon, he just shrugged off everything we threw at him."
"The others where all tired." MagnaAngemon commented
"Yeah but... Lots of kids at school and online and everything... They... They say WE are the strongest." TK argued weakly
MangaAngemon seemed to blink at that response. Though it wasn't considered 'wrong'... it was more about Type Matchups than anything. 'Virus Type' and 'Dark Attribute', it was their natural advantage.
"TK." MagnaAngemon said, kneeling in front of his partner "It is not that simple, I am afraid. Against Devimon. He was a Virus attributed demonic Digimon, and I was boosted by the Digivices. Pushed past my normal limits. Against Myotisemon, I was not as strong as the other Ultimates. I was only able to hurt him thanks to those same advantages, only I was still a moth to him. Piedmon, I had those same advantages after he had been chasing and fighting all of us. I was no more help than anyone else against Apocolymon. And against BlackWarGreymon? While he was a Virus, he was also a fire powered Digimon and I was boosted by a Destiny Stone. But I could barley hold him in stalemate."
"I... I don't know where we stack up to it all. Our wins have been Deus Ex Machinas at the best of times." TK admitted.
...
Suddenly the Ultimate began to laugh
"W-what's so funny? Why're you laughing?" He asked
"TK. I am an angel." MagnaAngemon smiled "A Digital Angel. And you are saying out victories are as if 'God is in the machine'?"
"I... Okay, you make a good point." He sighed and leaned on a tree.
"But it's more than that." MagnaAngemon responded.
"How do you mean? How can we inspire hope with someone like me here?" TK asked.
"Someone like you?" MagnaAngemon smiled softly "What do you mean?"
"Let's be fair...What do I bring? What did I bring to the group? I was a kid at the start of this." TK sighed and berated himself.
MagnaAngemon frowned as he looked at TK, the feeling of dread seeping from his partner.
"TK. What is hope?" MagnaAngemon asked gently
"What?" He asked.
"What is hope?" MagnaAngemon repeated.
"It's... when things get so bad... you keep going forwards." TK answered. TK looked down at his D3, tightening his grip around it "It is about... it is about trusting others and yourself. About knowing your limits but believing that there is a way out of any situation. That there is always SOME bright side or silver lining. Maybe not a victory... but a chance. Even if the chance is just to be happy for a while longer. About knowing that everything WON'T be all right all the time, but desiring the best outcome you can."
"And that is what you are." MagnaAngemon nodded
TK looked back at his friend and hugged him gently. "Thanks, buddy."
"Of course." he nodded
*elsewhere*
"There are so many Digimon here..." Matt frowned as he, Mimi and their partners walked through the village
"Yeah." Mimi agreed, flinching as she saw all the pain and sadness around her
"I guess... it's all the more reason to help out." Sora added. "This is our partner's home."
"Children, it has been MUCH too long!" a familiar voice suddenly said cheerfully from behind
"W-Wait. No way." The DigiDestined asked.
"Andromon?!" Izzy asked.
Walking up to them with a spring in their step was a humanoid, cyborg Digimon; their right leg was flesh but with wires and metal bones, its left leg was fully mechanical, metallic hips with a bone-thin waist made of flexible metal, pectoral shields, metal arms with exposed wires and circuitry, some flesh exposed, metal skulls on his shoulders and face as a mask, a discoloured human mouth and brown eyes.
"It has been too long!" Joe added as several of the group rushed up, the Ultimate giving them all a large hug
"Oh, how I have missed you." He commented
"You're still here!" Tai added.
"Of course, it takes more than this to take us down." Andromon answered with a smile. "I must say. I am glad you are safe. We all saw the warp as you entered the world again. Especially with the battle that raged. We could only help someone managed to find you."
"It was a close call. We had some tough battles all fairly close together." Agumon admitted, mumbling "Maybe I SHOULD have used WarGreymon against MechaGreymon. Save more energy."
"It was impressive seeing you all as Mega. But we need to work on Stamina, defiantly." Sora commented, brushing Yokomon's flower
"Is it more like 'remain in this form for longer to get used to it' kinda thing? Like in that shonen manga?" Bukamon asked.
"Yeah, just like that." Agumon nodded, still tired from his battles
"Might take a few days." Sora frowned in worry
"We might not have a few days." Joe whispered, thinking about the area right around them.
"Well, we don't know where UltimateChaosmon is. And without all of us at our full power, we are done for." Matt frowned
"I agree." Tai nodded "We have no other choice."
"What did I teach you kids? That's not the sound of heroes." A different voice spoke.
The DigiDestined turned to the side and saw a floating pink furred tiny Digimon with pixie wings, round black eyes, small arms and legs and carried a saw-toothed spear with a blue shaft.
"Pixiemon? You're here too?" Izzy asked.
"Piximon, you're okay." Mimi mumbled, holding back tears. The last they remembered seeing the Ultimate, Piximon had been sacrificing himself so they could escape the Dark master's when they first met them
"It's been a while, hasn't it?" Piximon smiled as he saw them. "I see that this is a new face."
"H-H-Hello." Meiko bowed nervously "M-My n-name is Meiko."
"Nice to meet you, Meiko. Glad to have another Digidestined on the team." Piximon responded. "I have to admit, you children have grown spectacularly since last we met."
"Thanks, it has been a long while." Tai answered.
"Is there anyone else we need to know who came back? Like Whamon?" Matt asked.
"Whamon is busy, leading out aquatic forces around the island." Piximon explained "They are focusing on File Island, however. Because of its close connection to the Human World, because of your past passages."
"Yeah, that makes sense... and having a beached Whamon isn't a good thing." Tai agreed.
"We're sorry about that." Mimi apologised.
"You couldn't have known, you're not at fault." Andromon reassured.
"Besides, we can't be at each other's throats like this. UltimateChaosmon is the bigger problem here." Pixiemon answered.
"UltimateChaosmon." Izzy frowned "He confuses me. His origin, his powers. It is so strange."
"Yeah. He almost seems like a force of nature." Motimon agreed
"And that's what we think he is as well." A different voice approached.
It was a humanoid Digimon, blue flames coming off their body, wearing black leather trousers and booths, with steel ring shinguards and skull-shaped winged steel-capped shoes, iron chains wrapped around his body; dark blue and purple flame-like hair on his metal mask covered face with piercing red eyes.
"SkullMeramon?" Sora asked as they knew the type of Digimon this was. "Wait... you're. Were you-?"
"Yeah, Meramon. I got tougher." He chuckled.
"Are most of our old friends stronger now?" Kari asked.
"We've had to." SkullMeramon admitted "Otherwise we'd die. The Calamity is almost forcing a Survival of the Fittest situation."
"I'm so sorry." Izzy frowned, knowing that this wasn't what any Digimon wanted.
"It's not any of your faults." SkullMeramon answered.
Meiko looked around and felt a little out of place. All of these Digimon here she didn't know, having a history with the others and she was the odd one out.

Why did she come here again?
Why?
Because of a crush on a guy?
It felt heavy on her heart. Did she want to help? Bring supplies with them?
Something was... Something was wrong. Strange. Coming here... Was it EVER her idea?
It had to be... Right?!
"Are you okay, Meiko?" Sora asked as she saw her struggling.
"Um, Y-Yeah. No. I'm overwhelmed." Meiko frowned, walking a few steps away. "I'm fine, I'm fine." She laughed
"Oh, okay." Sora blinked gently as she heard her, before giving her a hug.
"S-S-Sora?!" Meiko stuttered
"Sorry. You just looked like you needed a hug." Sora smiled, ever the team mum
Over with the others, they were trying to make a plan to fight Ultimate Chaosmon. Which, first step wa s obvious. Not the best, but they didn't have much choice. They needed to recover and get stronger. They needed to maintain Mega longer. So...
"We are staying for a few days. With you guys practicing Mega." Tai ordered
"Wait, are you serious?" SkullMeramon asked.
"Yeah, we're serious. We need the practice and the means to combat BoltBoutamon." Matt nodded.
"Oh, that guy." Titamon grumbled. "That nimble bastard's been giving us grief since before those Hydramon swarmed in."
"How is he even a thing?" Kari asked "Piedmon was dead for years. And we finally reduced Myotisemon to a point he wouldn't be brought back as a DigiEgg. How?"
"From what we think? It has to be Ultimate Chaosmon. It's literally beyond the most scope of what we can do." SaberLeomon answered.
"Doesn't mean we can't plan to fight them." Tai answered.
"Meiko, can we have snacks please?" Bukamon asked kindly.
"Huh? Oh, yeah, sure. No problem." She answered, unhooking the large backpack and opened it.
*time skip*
It was a few days later, Kari was sat near the edge of the village. She was thinking about what had happened... and how she felt like she was lagging behind. She and TK where not Mega yet, of course. And she had been thinking, about the others with Digivolving.

"What IS my Crest?" She whispered
"Huh? What do you mean? It's the Crest of-"
"'Light'. I know. It's my name. 'Courage', 'Friendship', 'Love'. Those are traits. Those are things to earn and grow with. But 'Light'? It's an object. An RPG game element at best. It's not something to strive for." Kari frowned.
Gatomon frowned at Kari, sitting next to her partner
"What am I gonna do, Gatomon? If I can't... If I can't help you get stronger-" Kari continued to speak sadly.
"Kari." Gatomon frowned
"Sorry. I'm just spiralling down." She apologised as she placed a hand against her chest "I have to admit. Almost feels like the Dark Ocean tries to pull me down in moments like this." she commented with a nervous smile
"Kari! Don't joke about that!" Gatomon snapped
"Sorry, sorry." Kari giggled, flinching before letting out a small sigh "It's just... when I activated my Crest. It was when Wizardmon died.
