As Ezra was watching Jacen struggle to connect with other living beings, he remembered what it was like when he himself started out the same way.
"Stretch out with the force. Feel it guide you.", Ezra chimed in.
"Ugh... I'm trying! It's not working!", Jacen replied in frustration.
"First lesson. There's no try. You either do it or you don't.", said Ezra.
"How can you do something without trying?", asked Jacen.
"Believe you can and you will.", replied Ezra.
"My mom said we'll be leaving to pick up a couple of friends in a little while. How am I supposed to do this?", asked Jacen.
"We'll worry about that when the same comes. Just focus on the here and now. Center yourself.", replied Ezra.
As Jacen centered himself in a meditative state, he managed to connect with the white Lothcat that Ezra brought on board the Ghost.
"I did it!", exclaimed Jacen.
"See, I told you you could do it, buddy! I'm proud of you. You're learning much faster than I did, but just have patience with yourself because nobody can learn everything overnight. We'll start again later. Now let's go see what Hera wants.", replied Ezra.
As Hera explained who they were picking up, Jacen wondered who they were. She set course for Lira San and jumped the Ghost to hyperspace until they were near the planet. As the crew got out and met up with Garazeb Orrellios and Alexandre Kallus, Ezra's eyes lit up.
"Zeb! How've you been?!", exclaimed Ezra.
"Ezra? Whoa, you've gotten older, haven't you. Not a kid anymore I reckon. Well, you're still our kid. Miss arguing with ya.", replied Zeb.
"It's good to see you too, big guy.", said Ezra.
"Ezra Bridger! I've wondered when the day would come where we'd see you again. It's been ages!", said Kallus walking up to him smiling.
"Kallus? Long time no see! What have you been up to all these years?", asked Ezra.
"This planet is so majestic! The Lasats on this planet have all of this archaic philosophy they've shared with me and have given me the honor of inducting me into their tribe. They're like a family to me now.", explained Kallus.
"Well, we've run into a new problem. Small remnants of the Empire are trying to rise up against the New Republic and we're wondering if you'll help us to keep our freedom alive by helping us fight them.", explained Hera.
Zeb and Kallus were both surprised and concerned about the potential threat the remnants of the shattered Empire could pose. As Hera explained the situation to them, they agreed to fight alongside Ezra, Jacen, and the rest of Phoenix Squadron once more for the sake of the galaxy in the midst of Jacen's Jedi training.
