Chapter 5: Superhuman Warfare Part 1
Class 1A awaits Task Force J at the entrance to the winding and twisting training area, known as Ground Gamma. It was like a maze of industrial buildings and metallic tubes. Last time they were here, they were doing combat training with their rivals, Class 1B. Now the training grounds would be host to combat once more between themselves and their American compatriots.
Momo: All-Might, what is the goal of this combat exercise?
Yagi: Um… well… the thing is-
Waller steps in front of the ex-number 1 hero, looking the class's smartest student in the eye.
Amanda: That information will be given to you all once my students are present. I do NOT like to repeat myself, Ms. Yaoyorozu, so fall in line with the rest of your classmates.
Momo: Y-yes, ma'am!
She nervously joins the rest of her classmates.
Denki: That was a little harsh…
Ejiro: No kidding… that wasn't manly at all…
Not a minute later and their opponents march out, lined up in a V formation, with the now uniformed Kent leading them. From left to right, it was Jones, Curry, Wayne, Kent, Prince, Allen, and Jordan. Jones wore a long, blue cape with a popped collar, similar to Yaoyarozu's in appearance. Blue boots matched the cape and a sleeveless, short-legged, black unitard covered his green body. Across his waist was a red belt with a red buckle with what resembled a sun on it, with a circle and several lines pointing outward from it. Across his upper body was a large red X that connected at the clasps of his cloak and met at his hips. Curry's gills were now visible to the others, thanks to the necklace, scaled, orange long sleeve shirt he wore, which almost resembled a second skin made of fish scales. A similar design adorned him from the waist down, but in green, connecting as semi-flippered feet instead of boots. Around his waist was a gold belt with a buckle that looked like something between the letter A and an arrowhead. He wore green, scaled gloves and in one of them, he held a magnificent, golden, 5 pronged trident. Wayne was the least colorful of the group, wearing a cowl with 2 pointed ears on his head, connected to a long cape that formed points along the bottom. He wore a black and gray bodysuit with a stylized bat insignia on his chest. His black boots matched his black gloves, which had 3 spikes pointing outward on each. The only other color on his suit was a yellow utility belt which had numerous compartments with who knows what inside. His eyes were covered by white lenses, giving him the appearance of pure, white eyes. He was even more shilling than he was before, with a permanent scowl on his features. On the other side of the group, Jordan wore a green, shining body suit, with white gloves and boots, but his ring was outside the gloves. He wore a green domino mask and on his chest was a white circle surrounding an odd, green emblem that resembled 2 horizontal rectangles around a green circle. Allen's body suit covered him from head to toe in red. Yellow gloves matched his yellow boots and a lightning bolt surrounded his waist. Another pair of lightning bolts jutted out from his ears like a small pair of antennae, pointing backwards. On his chest, similar to Jordan's, was a white circle with a yellow lightning bolt. Prince was wearing what some would call something between a swimsuit and greek armor. It resembled a one piece with a pair of golden W's that formed an eagle at the top, near her impressive bust. Under which, the armor was red with lines an inch apart leading down her stomach and torso, meeting at another pair of stacked golden W's around her waist, which acted as a belt. Under that, was a blue, sectioned skirt that went halfway down her calves, dotted with white stars. She wears a golden circlet around her forehead, which could be mistaken for a princess tiara, which has a star engraved on it. She wore metallic silver bracelets that reached from her wrists to just under her elbows and her golden boots reached up to her knees. Finally, a brown strap went from her front to her back, which acted as a holder for a sword and shield which were present. The shield looked like a mix between bronze and gold, with an engraved, sun-like marking on it, with triangles around the circumference of it pointing inward. The handle on the sword's handle looked like a pair of draconic beasts circling each other before their snouts met together as the crossbar. Finally, Kent stood front and center wearing a red cape, and a blue, skin tight bodysuit, with red boots. Around his waist is a yellow belt and buckle, and under it was something that almost made him look like he was wearing red underwear outside his suit. The cape connected on his shoulders and on his chest, bright and shining, was a yellow rhombus, with the point going downward, filled in by an almost, brick-styled S in red.
Izuku: Whoa! Their hero costumes look so amazing!
Mina: Why is Clark wearing his underwear on the outside?
Kirishima: Is that an ACTUAL trident!? That's SO manly!
Ochako: Look at Diana, she looks SO amazing!
Denki and Minoru: I'll say~.
Fumikage: I'm happy to see I'm not the only creature of darkness here.
Amanda: SILENCE.
Everyone goes quiet and turns to her.
Amanda: Allow me to introduce the future heroes of America.
She starts on Jones' side.
Amanda: Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, and Green Lantern.
Class 1A: What kind of names are those!?
Amanda: With that out of the way, allow me to inform you about the exercise and the primary objective. Task Force J will be playing the part of a group of villains holding an important person hostage. For the heroes to win, you must either retrieve the hostage and bring them back here, or take out all of the villains. For the villains to win, they must keep the hostage in their hold before time runs out, eliminate all the heroes by whatever means necessary, or if they see fit to, eliminate the hostage. You will all be supplied with capture tape, the villains will be given a 5 minute head start, and the exercise will last 30 minutes.
Katsuki: Piece of cake.
He has a sadistic smile as robots pass out the capture tape.
Amanda: And to make things more interesting, the hostage will be your teacher.
1A: WHAT!?
Yagi: What!? We never talked about-
Amanda: Villains, your prep time begins-
Yagi: Wait! You can't just-
Amanda: Now.
In a blur of red and yellow, All-Might is gone from the spot. The rest of task force J rushes into the complex of industrial buildings and piping.
Kyoka: Is she insane!?
Hanta: I can't believe they just took him!
Amanda: I hope you're taking this time to plan, Heroes. You have less than 5 minutes before you're allowed into the complex.
For a moment, the students just stare at Waller in shock.
Tenya: She's right. We need a plan if we're going to get All-Might back from the students!
Most of Class A: Right!
Katsuki: That plan BETTER include taking out those foreign bastards!
They gather around Iida and Yaoyorozu to plan, officially going into their heroic mind sets. As soon as the 5 minutes pass, they put their plan into motion. Anima, Earphone Jack, and Tentacole split up to get a better lay of the land, acting as the eyes and ears of their class, and report on the class' radio frequency, via earpiece. From there, the class divides into 4 groups. Ingenium leads Can't Stop Twinkling, Chargebolt, and Froppy, Creati leads Shoto, Sugarman, and Cellophane, Deku leads Uravity, Pinky, Tailman, and Grape Juice, and finally, Bakugo leads Red Riot, Tsukuyomi, and Invisible Girl.
Creati: Ok, everyone! All-Might can be held hostage anywhere here thanks to The Flash's speed! We'll have to rely on our spotting team so we can narrow down the places he can be!
Ingenium: We have no clue what their entire group is capable of, so stay together, watch each other's backs, and don't rush in without thinking!
1A: Right!
Deku: Spotting Team, do you have anything?
Earphone Jack: Nothing yet. It doesn't sound like they're moving at all.
Tentacole: I don't have a visual. The twisted landscape makes it easy for our quarry to hide.
Anima: The birds aren't picking up anything, but I'll keep you-
He's suddenly cut off.
Ingenium: Anima? … Anima, are you there? Please respond!
Creati: Earphone Jack, what happened?!
Earphone Jack: I just heard a fast series of steps coming from Anima's location!
Tentacole: He's not there anymore! I can't see him, he's-
Once again, the feed cuts out.
Deku: They're taking out our spotting team! Earphone Jack, get out of there!
Earphone Jack: I'll try to catch up to Bakugo-
Another signal is cut.
Chargebolt: Earphone Jack? … Jiro! Jiro, can you hear me!?
Bakugo: Damn it! Now we're flying blind!
There's a crackling over their headsets.
Chargebolt: Jiro!?
Batman: No.
Everyone goes silent.
Batman: They were the first to fall… Let's see how the rest of you stack up…
All they heard next was static.
Red Riot: Ok… is anyone else getting a bit freaked out?
Ingenium: Stay together everyone! We can no longer rely on our comms! Go radio silent and try to meet up with another team!
Bakugo: Don't tell me what to do, 4-eyes!
Everyone turns off their headsets as they start to rush through the industrial landscape.
With Creati's group, they found themselves outside one of the large warehouses.
Shoto: How do we find All-Might, Creati?
Creati: I think I can make something to rewire one of our communication devices to listen in on the other team. With that, I can use context from any radio chatter to pinpoint where All-Might could potentially be held.
Inside the warehouse, through one of the windows, Sugarman sees a shadow pass by.
Sugarman: What was that?
Cellophane: What was what?
Sugarman: I think I saw something pass by the window…
He starts to approach the doors, getting a container of sugar ready.
Creati: It could be a trap. We shouldn't enter the building until we're certain of what's inside.
Sugarman: I know, I just wanna take a-
Shooting through the doors, a golden, glowing lasso whips out and nabs Sugarman before yanking him back in, forcing him to drop his container.
Sugarman: PEEEEEEEEEEeeeeek!
Cellophane: Sugarman!
Instinctually, the group rushes inside to get their comrade. Once inside, they see Sugarman being tied down by capture tape by Aquaman, and Wonder Woman holding the strange lasso.
Amanda Narrating: Diana Prince, AKA Wonder Woman. Her Quirk- Lasso of Truth. She can summon a golden lasso into existence that is not only indestructible, but can extend its length to whatever she wishes. When someone is bound in the lasso, she can make them tell the truth.
Creati: Villains! Release Sugarman at once and reveal the location of the hostage!
Aquaman: We will do neither. You on the other hand will surrender now or face the consequences.
Wonder Woman: We need not have conflict. Lay down your arms and surrender peacefully before anyone has to get hurt.
Shoto: We don't give up without a fight.
Wonder Woman: On that, our ideologies coincide.
Cellophane slowly lifts his arms and Shoto's right side starts to frost over. Creati created a metal bo-staff and a shield while Wonder Woman disperses her lasso, taking out her own weapons.
Wonder Woman: I shall allow you the first action in this conflict.
Shoto: With pleasure!
Shoto swings his right arm, making a glacier form towards Wonder Woman and Aquaman. Wonder Woman holds her ground while Aquaman tucks and rolls out of the way with Sugarman. Cellophane chases after Aquaman as Shoto and Creati advance on Wonder Woman, who used her shield to block the ice and had caused cracks in the floor, as well as a small trench as she was pushed back. With incredible strength, she breaks the ice apart with her sword, ready for whatever Shoto and Creati would throw at her next. Shoto split off from Creati as she kept moving forward, meeting Diana's sword with her staff. Shoto's left side starts to catch fire as he shoots off some flames at Wonder Woman's other side. The amazon duals with Creati and uses her shield to block the fire. While Creati was skilled with her staff, Wonder Woman had been training with melee weapons all her life and it showed as the class' officer was quickly getting overwhelmed. With a powerful kick, Creati was forced back and Wonder Woman's focus was put on Shoto.
Shoto: Tell us what we want to know! I don't want to burn you!
Diana: You won't.
She charges at Shoto at high speeds as he keeps trying to use his fire to hold her back.
Shoto: FLASHFIRE FIST!
The fire comes out more intensely, melting the ice he made previously. Wonder Woman was halted in her tracks, but kept her shield raised. Creati has to hold her shield up from the blaze as well. Slowly, but surely, Wonder Woman starts to march forward despite the blaze.
Shoto: She's still coming!? Damn it! If fire won't work on her, I should switch it up on her before she can reach me!
He stops using the fire, but as he prepares to freeze her to the floor, his left wrist is roped by her Lasso of Truth. She holds the lasso in her sword hand and spins, jerking Shoto into the air and towards her. She backflips, kicking the son of Endeavor straight up into the air.
Creati: Todoroki!
She quickly creates a flash bang to throw at Wonder Woman, but the warrior's reflexes were too quick. With her shield, she knocks the grenade back at Creati, who's ears start ringing as she is forced to cover her eyes. Shoto is blinded by the flash, but still retains his hearing while in the air, before feeling another jerking sensation on his arm. He can feel himself falling at a quick pace before crashing into something soft and warm. He heard a feminine grunt from the impact.
Creati: Are… you ok… Shoto?
He blinks several times as he tries to get up, finding that his face had just been in a very… compromising position. The duo blush, but before any apologies could be made, the Lasso of Truth surrounds them both.
Wonder Woman: You will tell me the quirks of all of your classmates and their weaknesses.
Shoto: No… I… can't…
The ensnared heroes in training felt a pulsing in their skulls as they slowly found it hard to resist speaking the truth. Meanwhile, Cellophane was having his own problems with Aquaman, who had discarded Sugarman to the side. Cellophane tries again and again to wrap Aquaman in his tape, but the trident wielder simply slashes through the sticky substance. Luckily, Cellophane had the maneuverability advantage, as he swung around from the rafters.
Cellophane: I may not be able to tape you down, but at least I can stay out of your reach!
Aquaman: Is that what you think?
He presses 2 fingers against his temple and focuses. The ground begins to shake.
Amanda Narrating: Arthur Curry, AKA Aquaman. His Quirk- Aqua Voice. He can communicate telepathically with aquatic beings from fish, to aquatic mammals, to even the millions of microscopic organisms found within water.
With this quirk, Aquaman commands the organisms in the pipes beneath the building to do his bidding, breaking through the floor and making a geyser underneath him. He's shot into the rafters, cutting off the tapeCellophane was swinging on, causing the boy to fall. He manages to make another tape line to keep him from crashing against the floor, but Aquaman is quickly upon him again, using his feet to force Cellophane to faceplant roughly.
Aquaman: A valiant effort, but ultimately pointless against a son of New Atlantis.
Creati's team was disappointedly wrapped in capture tape as Wonder Woman gives the information she received to the rest of her team.
Ingenium, Chargebolt, Can't Stop Twinkling, and Froppy were making their way through what was essentially the main street of the fake city.
Chargebolt: When I get my hands on that rich jerk, I'm gonna-
Ingenium: Calm yourself, Chargebolt! We can not let revenge fuel our minds! Not like last time…
Chargebolt: But who knows what he and his friends did to Jiro and the others!
Froppy: I don't think they would go as far as hurting them too badly. It is only an exercise, Kero.
CST: You are trey tense, mon amie. Such passionate outrage for our dear Earphone Jack~.
CHargebolt: W-well, yeah! She's our friend! Why shouldn't I be worried and angry?
?: Because then you lose focus on what's around you!
A glowing, transparent, green brick wall stops them in their tracks. On top of the wall was Green Lantern, with his ring glowing like the bricks.
Amanda Narrating: Hal Jordan, AKA Green Lantern. Quirk- Will Power. Using his own will power, focused through a specially made emerald ring, Green Lantern can create hard light constructs of anything he can imagine, as long as he knows how it works.
From behind them, they can hear the sound of something fast grinding to a halt on the asphalt. Looking behind them, they can see the Flash, with sparks of lightning coming off of him.
Amanda Narrating: Barry Allen, AKA The Flash. Quirk- Speed Force. He has a speed quirk that is electrically charged. The limits of his speed and what he can do with the power his Quirk gives off are yet to be determined.
Flash: If it helps, all we did to your guys was take their comms and tape them up.
Chargebolt: It makes me feel a little better, but I'm still pissed!
Ingenium: Chargebolt, you can help me take on Flash. Can't Stop Twinkling, you and Froppy take out Green Lantern!
CST: Oui!
Froppy: Ribbit!
They separate to take on the emerald knight and the scarlet speedster. Can't Stop Twinkling aims his naval laser at Green Lantern, who dissipates the wall and creates a bubble around himself. The laser harmlessly bounces off. Froppy uses her tongue to launch Can;t Stop Twinkling up at Green Lantern.
CST: NAVAL SABER!
Focusing his beam, it forms a saber of light from his belt as he creates a hole through Green Lantern's bubble. Thi gave Froppy an opening to quickly leap inside to tackle Lantern.
Green Lantern: Gotta admit, I wasn't expecting that!
Froppy takes out her capture tape, but Lantern makes a pair of scissors to cut it up before she can tape him. He throws her off, and she lands, sticking to the side of a building. Can't Stop Twinkling shoots round after round from his laser, only for Lantern to bob and weave in the air around the attacks.
CST: Let's see you dodge my NAVAL BUFFET LASER!
He gets closer to Lantern, leaping and spinning gracefully as lasers shoot out from all the ports on his suit.
Green Lantern: I don't NEED to dodge!
A sphere forms around Can't Stop Twinkling, turning his attack back onto him. He gasps and shouts as the blasts bounce around the sphere, causing him to jerk around erratically.
Froppy: Aoyama!
She attempts to snatch Lantern with her tongue, only for a medieval shield to form behind him.
Green Lantern: From what I heard, I'm doing his stomach a favor by taking him out of this fight sooner!
He sets the poor twinkling, now twitching, hero on the ground before his attention turns to the frog girl.
Green Lantern: Now it's green on green.
He smirks, popping his neck muscles as he flies towards Froppy. Ingenium and Chargebolt were being circled by the Flash.
Chargebolt: Any ideas, class rep!?
Ingenium: I'll chase him into a corner and you shock him!
Ingenium's mufflers fire up as he darts at the circling speedster, but it was plain to see who was faster.
Ingenium: His speed is incredible! I won't be able to catch up to him, even with Recipro Burst or Recipro Turbo. The best I can do is to hopefully guide him into a position to be hit by Chargebolt!
While the 2 speedsters run around, Chargebolt shoots off some of his Sharpshooter targets at different surfaces.
Chargebolt: There aren't too many spots for Iida to corner him, so I'll make the area around me one big trap for him!
He sticks the targets on the ground, at the various pipes, and at the walls.
Ingenium: Ready, Chargebolt!?
Chargebolt: Oh, I'm ready alright! Stand Clear!
Ingenium rushes out of the way as Chargebolt charges up.
Chargebolt: Target Electro! .3 Million Volts!
He blasts at one of his targets and it starts to bounce to another, followed by another, connecting like a spiderweb towards the Flash. The speedster starts running the opposite direction, only to be cut off by Ingenium. He darts right and the lightning keeps following him as he starts to race towards a wall.
Chargebolt: Gotcha!
Flash: That's what you think!
The 2 heroes stared in amazement as the Flash made it to the wall, speeding up, before actually running up it. He wasn't bouncing off of it to another wall and back like other heroes they've seen or have done themselves, but he was actually running straight up, before going across the various pipes, still being chased by the lightning.
Chargebolt: ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?
As he ran, the Flash started picking up the targets in his way, making it back to the ground and sticking them onto Iida, one by one. He resembled a fridge decorated with magnets as the red clad student finished.
Flash: You may find this next part shocking~.
He smirks, giving him a 2 fingered salute, before running out of the way. Ingenium looked ahead to the Chargebolt's electrification blast coming right at him.
Ingenium: KAMINARI! WAIT! STOP!
It was too late and Iida's metallic body only conducted the charge, shocking him to the point of his helmet popping off, showing his cooked face and smoking hair. He lets out a pitiful squeak before falling over.
Chargebolt: Ohhh… Sorry, Iida!
Flash: Tough break, man.
Chargebolt: Tell me about it… wait…
He slowly looks to his left to see Flash standing there, semi-smugly, holding the capture tape. The next thing he knew, he was mummified in the tape and a bow was tied on his head. Froppy was in a similarly humiliating position. While Ingenium and Chargebolt were given the run around by Flash, Green Lantern had made a construct of a terrarium, which would be used to hold pet frogs.
Green Lantern: Mind helping me with this, Flash?
Flash: Sure. It'll only take a second.
The construct fades, but Froppy's vision is soon filled with red and yellow blurs and lightning. The next thing she knew was that her hands and feet were tied in front of her, and her mouth was taped shut to keep her from using her tongue. Green Lantern presses on an earpiece.
Green Lantern: This is Lantern. Froppy, Can't Stop Twinkling, Ingenium, and Chargebolt are out of commission.
Batman: Good. Only 9 are left. 15 minutes are left on the clock and the hostage is still in our hands.
As he spoke, his gaze was upon Bakugo's team, while Superman watched Deku's from the sky, arms crossed over his chest. All-Might was seated in a chair in one of the silo-shaped buildings, being watched by Martian Manhunter from the shadows, with glowing red eyes.
