Summary/disclaimer: Time for another Chapter of Inky Duets. Enjoy the 3800-word chapter. I don't own Splatoon, Nintendo, and a few others do.
There was an unmistakable knock at the door before it was opened entirely. This was so much amusing to them. It'd be funny if not for the fact that they had something pressing on their minds.
He could only sigh as he slowly slid down the wall. He cracked his fingers while he leaned down on the wall.
"Guys?" He stated before he cracked a smile as said. "There's a lot more things I could be doing when it comes down to this." He said before he cracked his fingers before this was said and done.
He could only question what to say and do. This had been a lot more to do next. It'd be a lot more to say and do. He had a lot of missions he wanted to do before this was all said and done. Anything else would be fun as of the time being.
He knew blasted well just how insane this would all be. He also questioned what had happened to begin something like this or anything even similar.
Still? if they had called him on one of their private channels? Well, that meant it was serious at the end of the day and he knew better than to just deny it all and throw it all out the window. Anything else was just disrespectful for anything he wished to be.
"6, that you?" He heard as he rolled his eyes.
"No, it's the pizza guy!" He snarked before the door slid open. "At least she tells me if she's going to be late or something like that. Why do you always tell me you're open to talking then do NOTHING that helps either of us?" 6 questioned before he raised an eyebrow.
"Hey, would you have come if 2 asked?" He questioned before he pointed at a strand of hair.
The Inkling sighed as he realized that he was once again focusing on the one mark that had been placed on his person. Despite not being a field agent, he knew why he had been here and why all of this had been going on at the end of the day. The twinge of green amidst a sea of blue skin reminded him how ridiculous how the question had been before now. This had been something he almost wished had been forgotten by him.
"Yeah. I do believe if she called, I'd come. She gave me the mark, Bud… Sometimes I wonder if you keep forgetting that for any real reason other than it's easy to forget." 6 said before he dusted off his clothes and sighed.
There was a lot he didn't seem to know when it came down to it. He still didn't know why he had been called here and what the next real move to handle this would be. He didn't even know the nature of the mission in the question that they had been expected to do when all of this was said and done. Nothing could be expected to happen. If the mission was what he expected? They'd not have a lot more to say and do at the time being for now. He hadn't the faintest clue in what to say or do before the hammer fell.
Still? if there was even a little plan before all of this was done and dusted? Well? This would be a lot more to say and do next. The pain could be excused before this came down to what their battle plans were. It could be a lot more to question as of the second when this move was made.
Their plan was never really brought up when this came down to it. They had a lot more on their mind about what to say and do before she questioned what to say or do for the time being.
There was a lot more on the line before all was said and done before this was done.
"The Octolings have gone silent. We don't know if they're planning something… But they seem to have somebody new commanding them." He heard as an eyebrow was raised in interest at this. "All we know is that they've backed off… Which you should know is something they usually don't do." He stated before he tilted his head.
He questioned what to do next. He slowly walked towards the Inkling while tilting his head to the side. He knew before this came down to it that a lot had been left out. Their boss hadn't yet come here. It had been a lot more to swallow as they moved out.
Their move was a lot more conflicted before 6 was all said and done with it.
This had been a very cautious place for them to put in, a place none of them wanted to be and all of them knew it. The idea of another mission is both exciting as this meant more and more.
He had been a lot more focused on what came next. Their boss was no longer here and they still had a job to do for now. What mattered was getting their job done and dusted at the end of the day. It had been all going downhill before it came down to it.
He cleared his throat and started to walk forward before he seemed to grow bored as of now. It had been an odd little thing when all was done and dusted. It depended a lot on their tactics. Whatever came down to it.
Still? There was a lot more to come down to it. Whatever came next would make them laugh before now.
"Where is she anyway? She's the boss, yet she isn't here handling the mission briefing like she always does?" 6 asked as he slowly started to walk around the room, curious as to how this would be decided.
"Already on the mission, 6…." He heard as he frowned and turned and looked around the room. "Is she the only one you take orders from?" 6 heard as he seemed to question what to the moment to do.
There was strangle little thing, an odd little moment to say and do for now. It'd be an odd little moment when it came down to it. When this was all decided? They needed to be on their best behavior was a hard thing before it came down to it.
Marie and Callie were two former agents and all of their resistance cells considered them two of the best field agents had been around and this had been done before by them. The Squidbeak Splatoon was one of the few things that stopped the Octolings from ripping the city apart as it was all said and done.
What came next would be a hard move to do next. It'd be hard to question before all of this was over and done. It had been a lot more to question before it had been as of now. The game had changed, and they all seemed to know it.
"We need to get going. The general ain't gonna wait." 6 heard as he nodded.
"Then let's go. I'll head downtown, anyone else coming with me?" 6 questioned before he raised an eyebrow, looking around as he seemed to be bored as of now.
The others all seemed to raise their hands as he nodded and pulled up his hood. He heard at least one sigh which told him that of course there were a few sighs as of this plan for now.
It honestly seemed as if he had questioned this plan to end before now. Whatever as of now came next? They needed to be ready. 6 at least knew it.
"Guess 3 is going uptown to help 1… Anyone heard from 5?" 6 heard as looked up and into the ceiling.
It was odd for now. so very blasted odd when it was all said and done. Such problems only served to have gotten somewhere they should have… Yes. It was so more to have done; a lot more than it should have been. All of them had simply thrown him downwards.
6 only paused to let it all sink in for now. He knew more than anything that their enemies weren't going to just wait and he found it to be finding funny when it was all over for now. Well, if they wanted to go run off and do something? sure, they could go right ahead. He was going to find his boss and ask why she wasn't here handling it all. This had to be properly ended before something destroyed the rest of the city.
This was so over. 6 knew she was probably messing with them to find some sort of humor in this. It was all Marie was like at least a little for now, there was a cycle to the way she did these sorts of things to them as of now.
Yes. He believed he considered it well enough. Marie was always the woman with the angle. She was always playing an angel before it was all over for now.
He rubbed his temples and slowly proceeded outside towards where he could have done for now. She was an odd woman when it came down to it. There was so much more on his mind anyway than the woman who confounded him. She was always playing games with
He walked around and then outside the city. It was a few seconds of silence before he heard a familiar tongue clicking which made him turn to the side and sigh before he rubbed at his eyes and questioned what she had wanted. She was never at all straightforward when it came to their leadership, this would all end either way.
Well, that? Or they'd all be dead; it couldn't have been relayed more properly for now. It couldn't have been completed for now on schedule anyway. Today promised to be weird like that
She clicked her tongue as she questioned what to have done before now. Before this was all done? It'd have become something she had to do, something she had wanted to do for such a time that it boggled him. She'd have boggled it to such a degree for now.
Marie was always like that, though. She'd have always been like that when all of this was said and done. She hadn't even told them what she had wanted.
"Are you usually like this?" 6 questioned before she tilted her head and she clicked her tongue.
"Maybe, depends on what's going on," Marie said while she tilted her head to the side.
"Which is life, Marie… Killjoy." Marie heard as she raised an eyebrow.
Marie smirked which only made him laugh as he realized the agent was as good as she was before. 6 crossed his arms and looked around the room which made him realize they were all involved in this more and more and more until it came crashing down to the ground.
6 crossed his arms as the Inkling knew more than anything their problems didn't just end because someone said so. It was entirely clear more and more. It was clear more and more that their morals were pushed entirely into what needed to have been done next.
6 looked at Marie and spoke first, too unsure of what has been said or done for now. It was entirely clear he needed to have been prepared for a while.
"Well, if agent 2 is here, things are important." 6 joked to which the sniper popstar looked at him. "It's funny you retired from field work…. Even if your still so good." 6 said as he crossed his arms across his chest.
He wanted to rile her up. It had been a while since the last splat fest and the ONE thing 6 desired more than anything was a rematch. Even if he lost? Oh, he'd only care if he managed to get another fight with her and settle things.
It was also clear in his eyes that he SO desired another fight. Marie knew 6 was someone who could be laser-focused and serious in a mission and it was clear his stone cold will be still alive, but it was clear he desired nothing more than to even the score and make sure both of them had another fight.
"Can you stop thinking about the Splat fest Jamboree? That happened a year ago." 6 heard as he rolled his eyes and looked around.
"You're the one who brought it up." 6 said before turning his attention back to Marie. "How bad are things if you're here then? You are always here when things are BAD." 6 said which she knew wasn't a lie either.
Marie looked at the others, Octolings and Inklings whom 6 all waited for her next word. It was clear despite the fact Marie and Callie rarely handled missions the rest of the group still respected them. She knew despite his snark 6 did which was why the mark of green paint still resided at the tip of his hair. Marie had asked about that once and she knew it was clear he considered her shot to be worth it. She decided to address 6 first as it was clear he wanted to go on the mission just as much as he wanted a rematch.
"We can finish that after we deal with the general and his boss," Marie said to which 6 blinked.
"General? So, it's not Octavio?" 6 asked to which Marie shook her head. "I thought you said someone dangerous. Who else but the DJ?" 6 asked as he frowned, tilting his head to the side.
It was clear more than anything something else had happened if this had gotten off the lock. He looked at Marie who was not at all lying, 6 had at all seemed to be bored while he tapped his hands on his hips before he questioned what to do next.
6 ran his hands down his hair as he flicked the locks of tendrils across his head before he looked around the room and pondered what to do next.
"DUH… The general…. 7 didn't explain it, did he?" Marie asked to which the two Inklings looked at the Octoling who was frowning.
"I DID!" 7 tried to say before 6 rolled his eyes.
"NO… You said 'come here…' Not 'OMG, 6 CAN YOU COME HERE!? THERE'S A GENERAL AND HIS ARMY PLANNING SOMETHING!'" 6 said before he turned back. "So… Who's this general guy? Sounds like a big deal for someone who didn't cause trouble when Octavio and his buddies stole the zap fish." 6 said to which the Squid Sister nodded.
"General Scorpion is pretty much a notorious crime boss who's managed to make an army of Octarians who weren't satisfied with Octavio's business, some of the Inklings who don't like the war, and some other people." 7 said to which 6 snorted to himself.
"Gee… General, didn't think we started calling people fancy titles anymore. What's next? I'm going to have to call 2 Lieutenant super general Marie?" 6 asked as he raised an eyebrow.
"Maybe, I should write that down," Marie responded to which 6 threw up his hands, all too eager to get this over with. "Thankfully he's not anywhere in town or we might have a problem," Marie said to which 6 looked at her.
"More of a problem than getting you to sign our paychecks?" 6 snarked to which Marie raised an eyebrow.
"Can you two go snark each other up a wall when we ARENT going to be at war with a crazed warlord turned criminal and his private army who want to steal several powerful weapons around the world?" 6 heard to which he raised an eyebrow.
"What do you mean around the world? What's around the world? The guy who's going to be going to war when it comes down to it?" 6 said before he snorted. "Ok. I'm going to go do my job while 2 here is busy talking about how others are lazy, we're meeting for lunch later, K?" 6 joked before he started to walk out the door.
"I need your help, 6," Marie said as 6 turned, the Inkling's eyes wide as he slowly walked back up to them.
"MY help? You mean you need me to do something like I'm going to be doing? Or you mean MY help as in 'I…'" 6 started to question before 7 spoke up.
"What she means is you're going to have to help her since the others are busy with their missions and we don't have enough people to handle something like hunting Scorpion… Meaning in the meantime? We need to go track down leads to go find them…. And 1 and 2 don't BLEND when it comes down to it." 7 said as 6 rolled his eyes at the Inkling.
"She blended fine… You know that." 6 said as he tilted his head to the side. "We all blend. We're heroes who don't get the credit… This is why I'm starting to want to get paid for this job…. None of us get paid." 6 added to which he risked a glance at Marie.
Marie looked at the others in the group. It was something that should have been funny… It was still funny and it'd probably have been for a much longer time than normal. It was clear, very clear as to how this was going to have been for now.
6 simply sighed and decided to roll with it. He'd not be allowed to have relaxed the same way for the time being when it came down to it. They had plenty of time to have adapted to this properly.
He'd all be too much for now. It was all he had acted like this and it was all too much for now when it came down to it. They had more and more problems to have focused upon anyway. This had to have been ended properly.
Perhaps to Marie, it seemed like the group had been slacking. he doubted the idea a lot more traction within her mind, but inside of theirs? None of them were slackers. The squadron might not have had the best army compared to their enemy, but they were NOT people who slacked in the war when it came to fighting back, they were not cowards nor did they flee.
Six raised an eyebrow, perhaps curious what Marie would have done. She was no leader, no she, and lacked the patience to have been one when it came to it. The drive to have commanded. She was a decent soldier, but a leader? Nope, not even if the rest of the group was torn down. Six had known this more than she and it was clear that she knew it as well.
Marie leaned on the wall as the rest of the squadron crowed around the woman who had fallen silent, too amused or such. It wasn't going to have been fun but it slowly started to have spiraled out of control. It wasn't going to have prepared to have to question.
She had a lot more to focus on what to handle before it came down to it. Perhaps it was something that it should have been likely when it came down to it.
She didn't know what to handle before now which happened while she managed to have gotten it around before now. Marie was constantly pushing others more and more into a corner and it seemed as if she wanted to do that here more and more over and over again. They had been down this road before and it was clear to him that as a person? Marie was still like this… And yet?
Well, Six enjoyed a life that way. Marie was going to keep pushing their buttons and it was clear more and more that he'd find it funny either way.
Six wasn't going to let that keep him down either sooner or later. It'd not matter much to him if this continued, only that he'd be able to enjoy the chaos that came with it for now. He'd only manage such a thing that had been possible because of her when it came down to it. They had a lot more on the line than what the last war had brought them.
It was clear to the squadron that if there was another war? It would be serious… Well, as serious as a war upon Inklings as they could manage. It wasn't something they took AS seriously as their species could have, not compared to the Octolings.
It wasn't something they normally wished to handle for now. it was clear beyond a shadow of a doubt that if they hadn't yet managed it as purely as it could have been? It was something else, for now, something that should have been when it came down to it.
They had a lot more to see and do and a lot more to ponder in that short while. Six glanced at Marie before tossing one of the mines which exploded, painting the ground in ink and allowing him to slide through it in his squid form.
It was all too clear what Six was going to do at the moment while they slid through the ink. Yes, it seems she had to keep an eye on them when it came down to it. Still? She and Callie had their plans which needed to have come down to it.
Still? Such things were not so easily remised and it was clear more had been a lot more to question before it was all over while he questioned what to do next. It wasn't going to be something he'd manage to have done for now. it wasn't going to have to end like this before he shook his head, they had to end this and had to end it even if it wasn't going to have been questioned before now.
Perhaps it wasn't going to have been a lot more of a problem, it wasn't going to have been a problem for now. They had a lot more to handle
