Day 7: Jealousy

Jealous

Just like every month, Sara visits the Grand Narukami Shrine, going upstairs to then head towards the Sacred Sakura. And just like every month, Yae sits on the bench near the tree to watch her girlfriend kneel and pay her respects to the centenarian tree.

It's certainly not the most enjoyable thing to do, especially with all the responsibilities Yae has both at the shrine and at the Yae Publishing House, but there's something oddly comforting about watching her girlfriend praying.

Maybe it's the relaxed posture Sara takes as if all the tension of hours of training and filling out reports suddenly leaves her body, or perhaps it's the way her strong back muscles tighten, making the sight in front of her more delicious than the strips of fried tofu she's eating, before she watches Sara bow in respect and rise to turn around and give a soft smile that she quickly reciprocates. Either way, she loves it.

Sara can only smile wider at her as she walks closer and steals a strip of fried tofu from her.

- Hey! That's mine – Yae protests, before Sara leans in to leave a kiss on her cheek as a way to apologize.

- Sorry.

The general says with a soft smile on her face, making Yae roll her eyes at her playfully.

- You aren't sorry in the slightest – Yae teases her, hearing her quiet yet lovely giggling, before one of her fingers travels along her girlfriend's jaw down to her chest – But I guess I could forgive you if you spend some of your free time tomorrow night with me, my little tengu.

Yae purrs seductively, noticing how her charms work perfectly on Sara who blushes, before she awkwardly clears her throat.

- I-I'm afraid I can't. I have some… issues to take care of.

Sara says apologetically, looking away unable to meet Yae's surprised gaze, before a frown appears on the pink haired woman's face.

- Issues, you said? – Sara can only nod absentmindedly at Yae's question – So what kind of issues you have to take care of? Can I, perhaps, be of any help, my little tengu?

Yae purrs seductively once again, leaning closer into Sara noticing her squirming under her touch, before she quickly stands up from the place next to her on the bench to put some distance between them.

- Ah no! No! It's nothing like that! I-it's just a work thing! Patrol, yes, I have to go on patrol!

Sara stammers nervously, wiggling around, and Yae can only squint at her suspicious behavior, opening her mouth to say something about it, before Sara presses her lips against hers in a soft but short kiss.

- But after tomorrow, I promise I'm all yours.

Sara promises her with a light blush tinting her cheeks and what pretends to be a reassuring smile on her face, but her odd behavior has seemed to sow the doubt in the other woman.

- Well, you promised me to be all mine after tomorrow, so you better keep your word, general.

Yae says teasingly, yet a light hint of seriousness can be heard laced in her voice, seeing Sara sighing in relief before she pecks her lips again.

- You know I always keep my word.

Sara ends up saying, before they kiss once again and she leaves the shrine grounds to walk towards the Tenryou Commission Headquarters. The pink haired woman can only watch her leaving with suspicious eyes, sighing heavily before she finishes eating her fried tofu to go to her chambers.

The following evening, Yae leaves her obligations at the Yae Publishing House unfinished to go to the Tenryou Commission Headquarters.

- Ah, Lady Yae, we still have to-

- Not today, Kuroda, I have something more important to take care of.

Yae tells Kuroda as she walks into Inazuma's streets heading towards the Tenryou Commission Headquarters to try and figure out what is the issue and suspicious patrol her girlfriend was talking about the previous day.

As soon as she's far enough and after making sure nobody is watching her, Yae goes into an alley to shift into her fox form to try to go unseen on her run towards the headquarters, hiding then behind a tree to wait for her girlfriend to leave her office.

She's about to go back home tired of waiting for hours for her girlfriend to get out of the headquarters, when well into the night, she sees her finally walking out of the main doors, waving goodbye to some of the soldiers guarding the entrance, before she notices the wary expression on Sara's face as she begins to walk away in the direction to the forest.

Yae furrows her brow and decides to follow her, going into the forest too as stealthily as her tiny paws allow her so Sara doesn't hear her.

She observes Sara going deeper into the forest, before she stops and crouches, taking something out of her clothes that Yae can't quite discern to leave it on the grass.

Soon enough, a brown furry creature gets out from behind a tree to take tentative steps towards Sara, eyeing her carefully, before quickly taking what lies on the grass with its paws to take it to its mouth and eat it.

Yae opens her tiny eyes widely, observing the soft smile adorning her girlfriend's lips as her hand comes to rest on top of the tanuki's head to pat it.

- Good boy, now remember our deal. I'll bring you food every week if you don't come close to the city and stop stealing to the civillians.

She says seriously yet with a hint of softness in her voice that makes Yae's chest tighten.

First, she has to endure the fact that her girlfriend owns a shrine full of statues of Ei and none of her no matter how hard she pesters her about it to try and have one at least. And now, she has to endure being ditched apparently once per week for her own girlfriend to come here instead to feed the tanukis, and not only that, but also pet them!

Yae can already feel the jealousy bubbling inside her tiny self, burning holes on the back of her unobvious girlfriend ready to go back to her chambers and not talk to her girlfriend in a while in revenge, when the sound of a branch creaking under her weight gives her away.

Crap.

It's all she can think, before she feels sharp golden eyes staring at her, raising her fur at how menacing yet hot Sara looks.

- Yae? – Sara asks aloud as a confusing look takes now over her features, and Yae can only sigh dejected, before she comes completely out of the shadows to approach her girlfriend.

She notices the tanuki behind Sara following her moves attentively, tilting its head with curiously, before she glares at it and hisses, shooing it away as well as eliciting a giggle from Sara.

- So menacing there Yae.

Sara teases her, earning herself a glare in return, before she opens her arms to her, and Yae can only turn her face, stopping to sit on the grass with her forelegs crossed across her chest, far away from her girlfriend who can only click her tongue before she approaches her to take her in her arms and kiss her nose.

- You're really cute, you know?

She says with a tender smile playing on her lips, and Yae can only snort and poke her cheek with her paw, eliciting a giggle from her.

- I'm sorry, okay? I'm just trying to stop the tanukis from going to the city to steal to the civilians.

- You could have told me though – Yae murmurs as she lets Sara hug her tightly while giving her an apologetic smile.

- I could, but we both know how jealous you get when another animal comes closer to me in search for pats – Sara recalls amusedly as Yae puffs out her cheeks – Although I have to admit you're certainly adorable being jealous.

Sara teases her and Yae can only hit her cheeks weakly with her paws.

- I'm not jealous!

Sara can only giggle, before she nuzzles Yae's cute nose and leaves another kiss on it.

- Let's go back home. Like I promised you, I'm all yours after today.

Sara says with a light blush tinting her cheeks as she hears Yae purring in delight and feels her curling up in her arms.

- Fine, but you're carrying me.

Yae whines, pouting, while seeing Sara rolls her eyes before they begin to walk back home, Yae snuggling more into Sara as she pets her, making her jealousy slowly go away.
