A/N: I hope you guys enjoy this and let me know what you think of the names. Both names were suggested by readers (Sorry, I tried looking up who suggested them, but it was a very long time ago when I wrote them down and could only scroll through so many review replies before I had to give up lol.) Now, let us see the family of Nazarick get a little bigger in this chapter!
P.S. This is for Guest Reviewers! If you leave a review that asks me to reply to your review when a new chapter posts, please, for the love of God, STOP DOING THAT! You cannot reply to guest accounts. Even if you make an account, you have to enable private messages to receive review replies. So please, please, stop leaving reviews like that!
P.P.S. There will be two small character sheets at the end of this chapter so remember the chapter will end before it looks like it is going to on your scrollbar!
Next Chapter Time!
Ainz Ooal Gown had spent months on end doing preparation after preparation since coming to this New World. He had read books on ruling, studied magic like never before, learned every military tactic available to him, and even practice his speech pattern and delivery of words.
However, the one thing he'd tried to prepare for more than anything was being a father. He had it quite easy with Aureole and Pandora's Actor since both were 'grown' already, but those experiences couldn't prepare him for having newborn children.
So more than any book on ruling, magic, or infrastructure, Ainz read every scrap of material available in this New World and Nazarick on children. Even after all that preparation, he knew one thing to be true. He was absolutely NOT ready for Albedo to give birth yet.
He wanted her to more than anything, but he was also terrified he'd somehow screw them up. It was a strange sensation to be giddy with excitement while also being scared to death. However, he'd need to get over that fear quickly because his children were coming whether he was ready or not.
All of these emotions swirled through him in the short amount of time it took him to stand up from his chair at the feast with the Dwarves until he stepped through the Gate and was opening the door to where Albedo was getting ready to give birth.
Ainz was a little surprised when he opened the door that there were only two other people in the room who weren't Albedo. He half expected all of Nazarick to either be in the hall or in the room for this occasion. However, it was only Albedo, Yuri, and Pestonya in the room besides now himself and Taylar.
What he also wasn't ready for was Albedo's state. Ainz would never know the pain of childbirth being a man, but the one thing he'd read in every book and heard from every woman was the pain of childbirth.
However, Albedo was propped up in bed by a lot of pillows looking completely content. Her legs were up, and Yuri was taking a look down there, but Albedo was handing Pestonya back a glass of juice with a smile on her face. Until Ainz saw what looked like a wince and sped over to her side immediately.
"Are you alright?!"
The slight discomfort left Albedo's face in a second when Ainz appeared. She was back to beaming at him before he'd even taken her hand and asked his question.
"Of course, my love. Our children are just getting into position."
"You aren't in any pain, love?"
Albedo couldn't help but stroke Ainz's cheek out of love. His concern for her always made her swoon, and this was no exception. There was no need for his concern, but it was welcome anyway.
Albedo might have been slightly jealous of human women for being able to carry their babies for nine months instead of the five and a half Albedo had gotten to. However, she'd bet every human to ever give birth would be jealous of the fact that Albedo had been experiencing absolutely none of the normal birthing pains human women did.
"There's no pain, my love. It is just a slightly uncomfortable pressure I can feel building inside of me. It is nothing to concern yourself with, my King."
"You're kidding?!"
It wasn't Ainz who said that, it was Taylar. While she'd never given birth herself as a human, Taylar knew even the best medicines for birthing only lessened the pain of childbirth. They couldn't erase them completely. It was Yuri though, and not Albedo, who answered Taylar.
"I believe it shall be the same for you as well, my Queen. A regular human woman has a much lower pain tolerance threshold than even a slightly trained human. I will not insult your majesties by comparing them to untrained humans, but the magnitude of pain needed to cause either of your majesties pain would be thousands, if not millions, of times greater than that of an average human. I believe this is why Queen Albedo only feels the pressure of childbirth, but none of the pain normally associated with it."
To say Taylar was relieved would be a vast understatement. She'd still have to see how the rest of this went, but if she didn't have to deal with that pain, she'd be hoping for babies from now until Ainz got sick of children running around.
Yuri informed them it wouldn't be long now as Albedo was nearly dilated enough and the twins were moving into position. It was then the door opened and Aureole, Rubedo, and Pandora walked in. Each checked on Albedo but then Aureole and Pandora went to wait in the hall while Rubedo stayed to see what she was in store for in a few months' time.
Yuri certainly wasn't exaggerating when she said it was almost time. It was only, maybe, ten minutes later when the pressure inside Albedo built to completely uncomfortable levels and she needed to push.
Now, Ainz would never call himself an expert at childbirth. He'd certainly give that title to Yuri whether from Nazarick or this New World. However, he knew what he was seeing couldn't be normal, and he let his thoughts be known without even thinking about it.
"That doesn't look like a head. It looks like a... bubble..."
Ainz trailed off because that was exactly what he was seeing. He didn't see a little head trying to push its way into this world. No, it looked like Albedo was blowing a bubble, but Yuri didn't let him ponder too much on why that was as she explained.
"Yes, I expected this, your majesty. Humans consider this a blessing when one of their children is born this way, but I assumed it would be necessary for our Queens to give birth this way."
Ainz was impressed she was calmly explaining this to him without ever looking away from what she was doing. He'd love to thank Yamaiko if he could for programming her with all these skills and tools.
"This is what is known as an En Caul birth. Queen Albedo's water never broke so I assumed it was for this reason. I believe even with all our Queen's strength and pain tolerance. It would be painful and, most likely, dangerous for her to give birth to children with wings and/or horns. It also leads me to believe your children will have one or both of these traits, your majesty."
That had calmed Ainz down considerably and allowed him to concentrate on helping Albedo focus. It seemed pushing out a child still required all a woman's strength as Albedo was bearing down on his hand and pushing with all she had. Ainz was a top-tier level 100 and even he was grimacing at how tightly Albedo was squeezing his hand as she pushed.
Albedo had gone limp for a moment and relaxed back in the bed, and Ainz looked down toward Yuri. He watched as she now held what looked like a small clear egg in her hands and pulled out a dagger to cut it open.
She gently pulled it away from the small little body in her hand, and it let out a soft cry the moment it was free. Yuri wrapped him in a small blanket after cleaning him off. And yes, it was a he.
"Here, dad. Meet your son while I make sure the other is moving into position, your majesty."
Ainz gently took the small bundle from Yuri and couldn't take his eyes off of his son's face. He'd seen the black wings coming from his back that looked just like Ainz's, but that wasn't all that his son inherited from him.
His forehead, brow, cheekbones, and jawline were all identical to Ainz's. Ainz could also tell he'd be tanner like Ainz was whereas Albedo's skin was porcelain white. He even had one more feature like Ainz, but the rest of him was all Albedo.
He had two horns, identical to Albedo's but black, coming from his temples. His little tuffs of hair were black, but unlike Ainz's which was unnaturally black, it had a shine to it as Albedo's did. His eyes were dark blue, but he blinked a few times, and each time his eyes changed color until they stayed what Ainz believed they would be. One eye was ruby-red just like Ainz's while the other was Yellow just like Albedo's.
"He's so perfect!"
Those were the first words out of Albedo's mouth as Ainz handed her their little bundle of joy, and he couldn't agree more. His son hadn't made a sound other than that soft cry when he was released from the sac.
Albedo had barely had him in her arms for a minute though before she felt that very uncomfortable pressure build and knew it was time for the next baby. She handed the baby to Taylar and got ready to push again while Taylar and Rubedo awed and ohh'd over the newest member of their family.
Ainz persevered another near-hand crushing and watched Yuri deliver his next child with just as much skill as the first. She gently cut the sac away, allowed Ainz to cut the cord, washed the newest bundle of joy off, and bundled her into another blanket before handing Ainz his daughter.
This time, Ainz got in the bed and laid next to Albedo as he set their daughter gently in her arms. Seeing his Demon Queen start to tear up at the sight in front of her nearly had Ainz doing the same thing. Neither he, Albedo, Taylar, or Rubedo could help the couple tears that did fall when Albedo had both her babies in her arms.
Ainz's daughter immediately reminded him of Albedo without the horns. He could tell she'd have the same perfect porcelain skin Albedo possessed. Even though her wings came off her hip like Albedo's, his daughter's were a dark grey color.
All of her facial features were a complete match to Albedo's with the exception of the horns. When she blinked her dark blue eyes a few times, Ainz immediately fell under the spell of his daughter's eyes.
A lot of people said Albedo had gold eyes, and that was partially true. Albedo's eyes, however, were such a shining gold, they looked yellow. His daughter though, her eyes were a much darker color and looked exactly as most people would think gold would. What made her different other than color were her vertical slits.
Unlike Albedo's black ones, his daughter had ruby-red vertical slits that matched his eye color exactly. You throw in the fact she had little wisps of silver hair coming from her cute little head, Ainz knew he'd be killing men in the thousands, if not millions, in the future to keep them away from his daughter.
"Did you pick out names yet?"
Taylar was dying to know that. Albedo and Ainz had been tight-lipped about names for their children. Neither knew that they ended up deciding Ainz would pick two names in case they were both boys and Albedo picked two names in case they were both girls.
They had both given a number one and number two so Albedo knew what her firstborn's name was. She believed it fit her son perfectly simply on his resemblance to his father and what Ainz told her the name meant. While she also knew what her daughter was going to be named, she needed approval from someone first before it was official.
Albedo decided to present her firstborn first. Even if his name had needed approval like his sister's, he was the first, so he'd get his name first. She smiled down at her son and beamed, even more, when his chubby little hand grasped onto her finger with a surprisingly strong grip.
"Yes, I'd like you to meet, Daemon Gown."
Taylar smiled down at the little guy who was now smiling at everyone. She didn't need to ask who picked out that name. It had Ainz written all over it. It wasn't until Albedo presented her daughter to Taylar with a smile on her face that Taylar realized their daughter's name was going to be something she wasn't expecting.
"And this beautiful little angel's name is... Mieko Gown. If you approve of the name, Taylar."
Taylar wasn't a little surprised, she was floored. No matter how close she and Albedo had gotten in their time here. She never, in a million years, thought the woman would name her firstborn daughter after her, and it wasn't her name from Yggdrasil that she choose. It was her name from Earth that Albedo wanted to name their daughter.
"I couldn't be happier or more honored, Albedo."
Everyone had been so focused on the names of the newborns; they didn't notice Yuri had left until the door opened once more and Aureole and Pandora were entering the room along with Narberal and Lupus Regina. It was only a few moments after meeting their brother and sister that the newborns were crying to be fed.
Albedo grabbed them both and gleefully watched as they latched onto her and began to feed. They were both very hungry but fell asleep the moment they both finished. Neither could help but fall asleep in their mama's arms with a full belly, feeling safe and comfortable right where they were.
While the new parents and the rest of their family celebrated in the room, Yuri Alpha continued her walk to her destination after informing Aureole and Pandora that it was alright for them to enter. She was not surprised in the slightest when she entered the Canteena and saw it completely full of those from Nazarick.
It didn't even surprise her that Demiurge had come back from his mission and had windows open for those who could not fit in the Canteena to hear what she was about to announce. It was truly a glorious day for Nazarick!
"Well?"
That impatient question, asked in the same tone, came from Demiurge. He wasn't in a hurry to leave again yet. He simply wanted to know how the birth went, the names of his newest masters, and use any time he could spare to get proper gifts for the newest royals of Nazarick.
"Nazarick has a new Prince and Princess!"
The roar of the denizens of Nazarick was so deafening, Ainz and company heard them while they were trapped in their own little world of bliss. Yuri expected nothing less and had to wait nearly five minutes for everyone to quiet down enough for her to continue.
"Prince Daemon Gown looks just like our Exalted King. He has the same face, wings, and skin color. However, he inherited his mother's horns, but in black, and he has one yellow eye like Queen Albedo and one Ruby-Red eye like King Ainz."
Yuri didn't have to look around, although she did, to know every woman in the Great Tomb of Nazarick now had hearts in their eyes. She'd fallen in love with him before she'd even cleaned him off. She knew it'd be no different for anyone else in Nazarick.
"Princess Mieko Gown is a beautiful, near copy, of our Demon Queen. She has no horns, but the rest of her face couldn't be mistaken for anyone but Queen Albedo, and her skin will surely be as pristine as our Queen's. She has wings coming from her hip, but they are a dark grey, almost black. She has Gold eyes, but they are darker than the Queen's and she has Ruby-Red vertical slits, unlike the Queen's black ones."
Yuri once again looked around just to be sure none would ever be a threat to her Prince and Princess. Normally, she wouldn't have to worry about that, but those that came from Yggdrasil with them were not the only ones to call Nazarick home anymore.
Most of them were not here regularly anymore, except for Zesshi Zetsumei, but all were present for this occasion. She didn't see anything but happiness coming from the Swords of Darkness, High Priestess of Life and Death, nor the two elves who'd been set free with her.
Although, Yuri noticed that Zesshi, Ashryn, Ninya, and a few others had another emotion mixed in with the happiness. She also knew that another emotion was not a danger to her Prince and Princess, but simply a longing to also bear their great King's children. Many, if not all, present in this room had that same feeling, but they were much better at hiding it.
Cocytus was an exception to this amongst those from Nazarick. He was weeping about being an uncle two more times over, but most were used to this behavior when it came to the royals of Nazarick. Yuri also narrowed her eyes at Eclair, as everyone else from Nazarick did, when he cried about there being two more in line for the throne he needed to overcome.
"Now, I understand this is a joyous occasion for Nazarick. However, we still have a job to do." Yuri immediately raised her hand for silence when every hand shot up and volunteered for whatever was going to be asked. "There is no quick way to do this fairly so I will stick to protocol. Cixous, Fiore, and Increment, step forward."
All three maids did as commanded in perfect sync and were quickly standing before Yuri Alpha.
"You three are scheduled to attend their majesties today so you will follow me. We must make sure the room is spotless. New sheets are to be quickly put down for Queen Albedo, and-"
"That won't be necessary, Yuri."
Yuri didn't need to turn to know her king was the one to interrupt her, but she did anyway. She immediately took a knee. She would have anyway even if she hadn't noticed Pandora or the new Prince and Princess in Ainz's arms.
"We shall endeavor to make the interruption as short as possible, your majesty. We will not be a bother for lon-"
"None of you are ever a bother, Yuri Alpha." Ainz didn't continue until she looked him in the eye and understood his words in her soul. "It is unnecessary because Lupus Regina Beta and Naberal Gamma have already taken care of the room and Albedo. I came for two reasons..."
Ainz stepped forward a bit more and focused on those from Nazarick. Hearing their joy at his newborns had further strengthened his already steel resolve to protect each and every one of them.
"First, I wanted to let everyone know we are having a feast in a few hours. Head Chef!" The only Homunculi male in all of Nazarick steps forward. "You have leave to use anyone you require to cook a feast for all of Nazarick. It does not matter if it is a skeleton from outside you need or myself. I need a feast made so that, when the feast starts, no one is working, and everyone is enjoying themselves. Can you handle that?"
"As you command, your majesty!"
"Now, the other, much more important, reason for my visit. I have a new prince and princess with me that I would very much like all of you to meet. Head chef, pick your team and they shall meet the prince and princess first before heading to work. The rest who wish to greet the new prince and princess may stick around and meet them when it is your turn."
It went without saying that his son and daughter both loved their mother, but Ainz could tell they already had some favorites between the servants of Nazarick. It wasn't hard to notice when there was little to focus on for a few hours as everyone in Nazarick took turns holding the new prince and princess.
Those Ainz noticed his son react a bit differently to were the undead, none more so than Yuri Alpha and Shalltear Bloodfallen. It was noticeable when any undead held him, but those two he never stopped babbling or reaching for.
As for his daughter, she hadn't wanted to leave Rubedo's arms to come out here with him, and he had nearly the same difficulty getting her to leave Demiurge and Mare's arms. Unlike his son, it appeared his daughter didn't have a type she gravitated toward.
Ainz would have never had the time normally to keep them away for so long just after their birth, knowing Albedo would want them with her and they were normally observed for a bit before others could meet them.
Albedo, however, fell asleep not long after feeding them, and Taylar would message him if she awoke. Also, his children looked healthy as could be already. It was as if they were a few weeks old instead of a few hours.
Ainz made his way back to the room after everyone had greeted his children and smiled at seeing Albedo still lying in bed. He was a bit puzzled as to why no one else was here but didn't think much of it as he made his way to the large crib in the room.
Daemon and Mieko had shut their eyes right as he appeared outside the door, and Ainz figured the excitement from meeting so many new faces had finally gotten to them. He hummed a bit on the way to the crib and told them how much he loved them before setting them down gently to nap.
When he turned toward the bed, Albedo was up. She was leaning on her left elbow while her right hand held the sheet that covered her. It was truly irrational how beautiful she looked after giving birth a few hours ago.
Ainz couldn't help but smile at her as he made his way to the bed. He'd barely gotten on the bed fully before Albedo leaped at him and crashed their lips together. Ainz didn't need her to break the kiss and lean back from her position on top of him to know she was naked, his hands found that out as they kissed.
"I want more children, now!"
Ainz probably would have chuckled, but Albedo didn't give him time. It took considerable effort on Ainz's part to get her to stop kissing him and trying to undo his pants.
"Albedo, you just gave birth, don't you need some time to-"
"I'm not some frail doll Ainz. Take me, NOW!~"
Ainz did plan on answering, but Albedo didn't truly give him the time to. Ainz wasn't one to deny her, and he also finally understood why she'd been alone in the room. She even promised to be quiet (by her standards), and they weren't interrupted until the feast started hours later.
Time seemed to fly by for Ainz after that. He'd say he's ashamed of how much he ignored being a king, but he wasn't. Week after week went by and Ainz spent the majority of his time with Daemon and Mieko.
Of course, he didn't neglect Taylar, Albedo, Rubedo, etc. However, he was very lacks in attending audiences, talking with liaisons, and anything else that had to do with their kingdom. It helped immensely that he trusted all those in leadership positions, minus one, and they had him constantly watched.
Before Ainz knew it, two months had gone by. Today was going to be the day Daemon and Mieko left Nazarick and were presented to the rest of the kingdom, no matter how much Ainz tried to go against such an idea. The conversation he'd had with Taylar only a few days prior was the only reason he'd finally relented.
Yuri had just finished checking Mieko and Daemon over for their two-month exam. A now visibly pregnant Taylar made her way toward Ainz with her hand on her belly. She kept it there more than anywhere, just as Rubedo did.
It was yet another safety concern Ainz had brought to their attention. He allowed Albedo to bend his will and allow herself to display her belly, and Taylar and Rubedo wished for the same. He was only alright with it for Albedo because she spent the majority of her time in Nazarick, but it wasn't like that now.
All of them spent a great deal of time in Carne, Feo Jera, E-Rantel, the capitals of the Re-Estize and the Draconic Kingdom, and even Arwinter, though to a much lesser extent. They easily had the means through spells and magic items to conceal their pregnancy but refused. That was just part of why he believed Taylar finally lost her composure with him at simply revealing Yuri's results to him.
"Yuri says both look more than healthy. Although, they are a bit... bigger than normal."
"It isn't something we have to worry about, is it?!"
Ainz had always been worried about everyone's safety. Even he isn't so blind as to not admit it became a little unbearable after Mieko and Daemon were born.
"There's no need to worry. Yuri is going off of her knowledge of humans, Ainz. At two months, a normal human child would be about 23 inches long and weigh about 12 pounds. Daemon is a bit larger than Mieko, but it isn't much. He's 27 inches long and weighs... 56 pounds. Mieko is 25.5 inches and weighs 44 pounds."
Ainz hadn't even thought of how much they weighed. To him, they were tiny, fragile babies. It never occurred to him that fifty pounds to him were like a human picking up a feather. It was just another lightweight for him to lift. Her next comment is what started their, kind of, argument.
"Yuri believes it is because their bones are denser and their skin tougher than normal. So, you see, there is no need to worry about them attending the wedding. Even if something happens, it won't be so easy to-"
"Don't say it!" Taylar did stop talking, she'd never heard Ainz speak to her like that. "I'm not going to change my mind! They are too young and cannot defend themselves! If something were to happen to-"
"Ainz!"
He had no idea when Taylar had gotten so close, but she grabbed his face with her hands and made him look at her. Her brief anger was forgotten, and a much softer look was now adorning her face when she continued speaking.
"We love you for how much you care for our safety, but it is starting to consume you, Ainz."
"I just want to-"
"We know Ainz. We know." she dropped a gentle kiss on his lips. "We love you for it, but would you please enjoy this time as much as we are trying to? You have done nothing but worry for everyone else since we came here. You may worry, as we all do, but you need to enjoy it more."
Ainz knew she was right, but it wasn't that simple for him. HE wanted to make sure THEY were safe. He felt it was his responsibility to make sure there were no threats to those he loved. Taylar interrupted his next thought with what he was going to think but made it even clearer for him.
"Ainz, we have tens of thousands who would throw themselves in front of any danger to us, our children included. We also have Hanzos, Eight-Edge Assassins, Shadow Demons, Demons, Devils, Undead, and countless other spies and guards. You have to give them some of your burdens and enjoy this, my love."
Ainz hadn't even needed to think about what Taylar had said to him, he knew she was right before she even finished. To Ainz, it also made it seem as though he didn't trust those who served them. When, in truth, he trusted every being from Nazarick and few from the New World.
Ainz didn't want to say he gave in; he simply saw the error of his ways. He'd no doubt Taylar would not make it seem that way. He even went as far as to go to Aureole and Pandora to tell them they could have free reign to go wherever they wished, whether that was Nazarick or anywhere else in their kingdom.
Aureole had bolted, well, teleported, immediately to Re-Estize capital and spent time with Queen Renner. If there was ever a friend Aureole made that Ainz didn't see coming, it was Renner. She was still much closer to Enri, but she spent a great deal of time with the cunning Queen of Re-Estize.
That extra time Aureole had was nearly the same reason Mieko and Daemon were going to make their appearance today, Enri's wedding. Enri didn't have the same free time she had before. Aureole wasn't mad and still saw her regularly.
She simply spent a bit more time with others, namely Renner, but she spent it with others as well, such as her mothers, Leinas, Arche, Ninya, and a few others. Aureole had that kind of effect on people, they all loved spending time with her.
Enri tried to slide by with a small wedding, but that idea failed the moment the citizens of Carne found out she was getting married. From what Ainz witnessed at the ceremony and reception, he felt he had made the right decision in letting some of his worries disappear.
Ashryn had listened to Taylar speak on the different wedding ceremonies based on those she knew of and made one for their religion. It was very European/American to Ainz. Ainz's only contribution was actually to change part of what Ashryn came up with.
Call him petty, but he didn't want the exchange of rings to be for anyone but those he gave one to. He compromised by getting her to name an engagement ring a wedding band. Taylar, Albedo, and Rubedo were still the only ones with an engagement ring and wedding band separately.
The Best Man and Maid of Honor was something Ashryn also decided to keep along with Bridesmaids and Groomsmen. Ainz would learn later that families often negotiated to be in a wedding as part of a marriage agreement. Enri and Peter's wedding had its own little spin on these traditions. Enri's Maid of Honor was... Nfirea and Peter's Best Man was... Ninya.
There was no doubt to anyone that Nfirea was no maid when he came with two women on his arm, and not a soul thought of a man when Ninya appeared in the blood-red dress Peter had picked out and made her wear. It was something Ainz enjoyed and could chuckle at.
Enri looked stunning in her pure white mermaid-style dress. She had declined at first to have Albedo make it for her, but Albedo insisted, and Enri went along with it. Ainz could tell by the looks she was getting she chose correctly. It wasn't as if Albedo didn't have the time, she did nearly nothing but make clothes while she was pregnant in Nazarick.
Ainz sat through the ceremony and was a bit grateful Ashryn hadn't created a long elaborate ceremony. It hadn't taken more than fifteen minutes from the time Enri walked down the aisle until they were kissing and being announced as husband and wife.
Seeing everyone enjoy themselves while being so happy, had let Ainz worry slip a bit. What truly put it over the top was later in the night. Thousands were drunk, and if Ainz learned anything, it was that people that drunk were annoying but incredibly honest.
Their filter was completely gone so as each person, slightly annoyingly but completely honestly, kept telling him how beautiful his children were and lucky he was, pushed much more worry away. It was an added bonus most were too drunk to bother with calling him your majesty. He enjoyed that very much as well.
As Ainz and Albedo laid Daemon and Mieko in the crib that night, Ainz decided he'd lay off a bit... A BIT. They still weren't going anywhere outside of Nazarick that wasn't Carne, unless he was bringing an army.
Ainz knew they'd argue they already had the protection of an army, but Ainz was talking about a visible one. It isn't his fault those of this world were too weak to perceive the Hanzos, Shadow Demons, Eight-Edge Assassins, and Eternal Deaths that constantly protected those he cared for.
They should all be grateful he doesn't simply kill all those he believes might be the slightest hint of a threat to his family. Ainz's thoughts had been turning much darker because of this lately. Laying waste to this world seemed like a better idea every day that passed, but he kept shrugging it off to think of better thoughts and spend time with his family.
He spent an inordinate amount of time with Daemon and Mieko. Albedo had, more than once, joked to him that he'd magically grow breasts and start feeding them one day if he kept spending so much time with them.
Ainz kept at it though. He spent every waking moment he could around his children, and he didn't just mean Daemon and Mieko, Aureole and his two unborn children were included in that as well.
Rubedo and Taylar were growing bigger seemingly by the day, and Ainz found he somehow loved them more each day that passed. Not just Rubedo and Taylar either, but Aureole, Daemon, Mieko, Albedo, Lupus Regina, and Naberal. Ainz discovered he far more enjoyed being a husband, lover, and father than a king.
Every new thing he discovered about each of them had him feeling this more and more by the day. The way Taylar would sing to her belly or Rubedo would gently caress hers and softly speak to hers. How incredibly warm and loving a supposedly 'pure evil' Succubus like Albedo could be toward random human children when they visited Carne.
How Lupus Regina and Narberal Gamma doted on Daemon, Mieko, and Aureole to a lesser extent like they were their own children. It was a life Ainz never wanted to leave. He was perfectly content in his little bubble of bliss.
It only grew more when Taylar told Albedo and him that Albedo was pregnant again. Apparently, his insatiable Demon Queen got her wish the same night she gave birth to Daemon and Mieko. Ainz couldn't believe how happy this news made him because he didn't think he could get any happier.
He did have a brief moment of panic later that night when he had the thought perhaps Albedo just wanted to be pregnant every moment she could. The thought of how many children he could potentially have, since neither of them couldn't die naturally, made him shudder a bit, but in the end, it still left a smile on his face.
Ainz had lived in perfect happiness for two more months like this. He knew he was going overboard, but today was Mieko and Daemon's third month nameday! Yeah, he knows it's outrageous to celebrate their nameday every month, but he found he cared not if everyone thought he was crazy, especially with how incredibly special his morning had turned out to be as he rose from his bed that morning.
He had untangled himself from the mass of limbs he was surrounded by on a nightly basis and made his way over to the crib Daemon and Mieko slept in not far from his bed. He saw them both staring up at him, as they did every morning. He reached in to pick up a smiling Mieko before securing her in his arm and grabbing her brother.
Ainz knows he shouldn't have a favorite, but he'd be lying if he didn't admit that Mieko pulled at his heartstrings a bit more than Daemon or Aureole. He supposes it's probably because she looks more like her mother while Daemon and Aureole look more like he does, at least, that's the only reason he could come up with.
"Good morning, my loves. Did you sleep well?"
Ainz barely got to rock them after he spoke before he felt a pair of arms wrap around his middle from behind. He didn't need to turn around or see her beautiful hands to know it was Albedo. Yes, Ainz somehow found everything about his Demon Queen beautiful, even her hands.
"They always sleep so peacefully, my love. I can't imagine they ever have a bad night's sleep."
"That's because their daddy will kill anyone who tries to disrupt their sleep. Isn't that right my little loves?"
While he felt Albedo giggle into his back at his statement, his children had his jaw drop open as he stared down at them and their little mouths opened.
"Da... da..."
"Da... da..."
Ainz felt Albedo's arms completely leave him then she was standing next to him the next moment staring wide-eyed at their children wondering if she was going crazy like he was. Surely, they hadn't just spoken at only three months old?
"Ma... ma..."
"Ma... ma..."
Not only did Ainz get confirmation they were speaking at three months old, but he watched his Demon Queen, not tear up, completely start balling as she heard her name come from their children's lips. She leaned down and started peppering each of them with kisses all over, repeating the same thing.
"Yes! I'm your mama! I love you! I love you! I love you! I love you!"
Ainz wishes he could wrap his arm around Albedo at that moment, but he had his arms full holding his children at the moment and he couldn't. He was grateful the moment she stopped balling and took Daemon into her arms so he could.
"Yes... mama... love... you..."
"Love... you... dada..."
If he wasn't shocked when he heard Daemon speak nearly a full sentence to Albedo, he knows he couldn't hide it when Mieko did the same thing. He barely registered the gasp from behind him as she said it, but it did register, and he was glad it gave him confirmation others had heard it other than him and Albedo.
He truly thought he was going crazy!
"I... love you too... baby girl..."
Ainz was choking back his tears trying not to cry, but he was doing a horrible job. Everyone could hear it in his voice even if they couldn't see the tears. He has no idea how much more it made all of them love him, nor what kind of impact it had on those who called Nazarick home when they heard the tale later on.
After they, quite literally, told them they were hungry, Ainz gave them each to Albedo and sat on the bed in disbelief. It only grew as the day went on from there.
While he had already planned a small celebration for their three-month nameday, it turned into all of them not leaving their room for quite some time. All of them sat there on the bed with Daemon and Mieko to 'play' only to discover that the surprises were only starting for Ainz.
It was quickly apparent to each of them that Mieko and Daemon were learning at an incredibly fast pace. It only took them a few minutes staring at Ainz and the others speaking about what was going on for them to start learning new words and quickly putting together sentences, then asking them questions.
It got to the point, after only a couple of hours, that Mieko and Daemon were asking real questions about anything they could see that they didn't know about. By the time lunch had rolled around, Ainz was having a legitimate conversation with his three-month-old children.
To say it was surreal wouldn't begin to describe it, and then his bliss was rudely interrupted.
{Father, I'm sorry to disturb you, but we have a situation you need to hear about.}
{I'll be right there, Aureole.}
Ainz didn't want to go, he really didn't, but he knew Aureole wouldn't have sent him that message if it wasn't urgent or important. She'd been with her siblings today as well and knew he'd not want to do anything but spend time with them, so he teleported to the Cherry Blossom Sanctuary immediately after telling Albedo, Taylar, and the rest in the room where he was going.
"I'm sorry for-"
"Don't apologize, daughter. I know you wouldn't have asked me to come if you thought it could wait."
Ainz had to stop her apology right away. He didn't think she needed to anyway, but that was just the type of person Aureole was. She didn't like to take people away from anything they loved, whether that was doing something they loved or being with someone they loved.
"It could not father, I'm sorry. First, I would like to state that the only reason I was able to learn any of this is because of Solution, father. It was she who noticed and took action to investigate before I was ever made aware of the situation, and I have no doubt I would have missed it if she hadn't made me aware of it."
"Very well, I shall remember to reward her properly based on what you have discovered, Aureole. Now, what emergency pulled me away from watching my children grow up?"
Aureole started speaking, and Ainz got angrier and angrier the longer she went on. He got so angry in fact, it cost him five thousand gold. He'd slammed his hands on Aureole's table two times a bit too hard and turned it to dust.
It wasn't exactly cheap to replace things in the Cherry Blossom Sanctuary, as made obvious by the twenty-five hundred gold each table he destroyed cost him. Ainz knew this was partially due to his vacation being interrupted.
He had worked his ass off for months on end so he could spend time with his family and be there for his children to grow. Now, some ambitious asshole was interrupting his family time, and it pissed off Ainz Ooal Gown to no end.
Taylar had taught him patience in this world, but Ainz had none for this fool. He was done playing games, and soon, everyone would know that. Well, if...
"Are you sure you are able to sustain it for that long and over such a large area, Aureole?"
"I know I can, father. The only question is how long it will last. I've never tried to maintain it for long, so I can't be positive exactly how long it will last. I'm guessing four or five minutes maximum if I am to cover as large an area as you want me to before my magic is depleted."
"Very well, that should be long enough. However, just in case, I'm going to have Mare here with you. He is able to transfer his magic from one to another, so he can act as a reserve if you are getting low on magic. Plus, he is one of the few who can rival you in Magic Power."
"Thank you, father. That would be very helpful."
"No, thank you, Aureole. I can never express how wonderful and vital everything you do for Nazarick is."
Ainz tried to pretend she didn't shed a tear when he wrapped her up in a hug, but he couldn't help but wipe it away. He dropped a kiss on her forehead and teleported back to his room to share what he'd learned with everyone else.
Ainz knew he need to leave right then if their plan was going to work, so he didn't even have time to answer questions, just fill them in and tell them to speak with Aureole or Solution if they had any more questions.
Ainz completely bypassed the pomp and circumstance of visiting E-Rantel and appeared on the front steps of the Adventurer's Guild. The place was completely packed, but it had been like that since they'd opened the training dungeon in E-Rantel and Carne.
"Y-Your majesty!"
The suddenly terrified receptionist was the first to greet him as he opened the door. The entire place went silent as Ainz strode into the building.
"Good afternoon, Ms. Wina. Is Ainzach in?"
"Y-You know my... umm, yes, yes, your majesty! I'll g-go inform him y-you have arrived, your majesty!"
"Thank you, Ms. Wina."
Her eyes widened again when she realized he really did know her name before she scampered off to speak to Ainzach. Ainz walked up to the new 'leaderboard' and checked out how everyone was fairing. He has to say, those of this world continued to disappoint him.
Other than Blue Rose and Swords of Darkness, not a single Adventurer Team in any of the kingdoms they ruled over had been able to pass Level Seven. Ainz thought he may have had Mare go overboard when adding twenty-five floors, but Blue Rose had made it to Level Eleven and Swords of Darkness to Level Fourteen, so not all hope was lost.
He did 'unofficially' go through as Momon, just to test it out, and obviously passed through it all. He thought it would be a good starting point for Adventurer Teams to learn strategy, formations, and overall, just working together before starting out, but it turned out to be training none of them, save for two teams, could even pass.
It was a bit frustrating, but it had brought the Adventurer Team's out of the woodwork, so there was a pool plenty big to choose from of those with special talents, and if they, or their party, weren't going to cut it, they could find uses for them.
"The GuildMaster is ready to receive you, your majesty."
Ainz watched as Wina bowed and informed him that Ainzach was ready. He thanked the woman and headed up to Ainzach's office. When he opened it, it was only Ainzach in the room, even if Theo was hiding behind the other door for some reason.
"Greetings, your majesty. What brings you to my humble abode, your majesty?"
Ainz took the offered seat, but didn't have time to play any games today, he got straight to business.
"I meant to come by eventually and check on the progress of the dungeon diving, but I just did that. What I-"
"What did you think, your majesty?"
Ainz tried not to lash out at being interrupted, and he did a good job considering Ainzach was still alive and not trembling in terror.
"I'm disappointed, Ainzach, but that is a conversation for another time. I have more pressing matters and I require your connections."
"What connections, your majesty?"
"You know Osk, correct? The head promoter for the Colosseum in Arwintar?"
"I do, your majesty."
"Good, I need you to come with me, now. I need to meet with him and discuss some things."
"Your majesty, I can't just up and leave what if-"
"Have Theo look after the place. You're alright with that, right Theo?"
Ainzach's eyes widened when Ainz addressed the closed door. If Ainz wasn't in such a foul mood, he may have chuckled when Theo answered but still didn't open the door.
"Of course, your majesty."
"Good, that's covered, you're coming with me."
Ainz didn't let the man accept or deny his request, he touched his arm, and they were both in a carriage already in Arwintar headed toward Osk's Manse. Ainz only focused ahead while he continuously clenched his fists to stave off his anger.
Ainz hoped his talk after this would go smoothly as well, but there was one thing he knew for certain. He was done dealing with this world the nice way, and they were all soon going to find that out.
Regent Jircniv fought hard not to scowl or cringe every time he heard his name or thought of how far he'd fallen so fast. In the blink of an eye, one wrong move had taken him from Emperor of the greatest empire this world had ever seen to a mere regent looking after someone else's empire.
All that meant was he had the same responsibilities, but he could answer any complaints with "Take it up with His Exalted Majesty." So in a way, he actually had it pretty good, not that he could live with that until he died though.
He'd been played and humiliated, and there was no way Jircniv could let that slide. It had taken months upon months to finally get the meeting he was headed toward, and he hoped it laid the groundwork for him to rule as Emperor again in the future.
After all, who better to rule, not only Baharuth but the entirety of the newly created empire that spanned all of Ainz Ooal Gown's lands than the man responsible for the plan that would bring about his downfall?
Jircniv was confident he could convince the Slane Theocracy of his plan. They'd been stupid enough to send mediocre assassins and terrible poisoners to try and take out this monster, but Jircniv had been around Ainz Ooal Gown enough to notice even this, seemingly invincible, God had weaknesses.
Jircniv had used a level of caution to arrange this meeting even he believed was a few too many steps overboard. Even he had trouble keeping up with the logic of how letters and notes were exchanged, and he'd been the one to set it up.
He knew it would take an intellect even more genius than Ainz Ooal Gown's sinister one to figure out he was planning his demise right under his own nose. To make it extra safe, Jircniv hadn't told the Slane Theocracy representatives where the meeting was until an hour ago. That was there was no way they could be discovered.
He had the perfect place that was both public as could be and private as could be, the Grand Arena. Jircniv still had his personal box, and unless you could fly, you couldn't even see him in it unless he stood at the rail.
No one would be any the wiser that he was having a secret meeting in that box, and he would have plenty of witnesses that he couldn't have been plotting Ainz Ooal Gown's demise with the Grand Champion fighting a new challenger today as well. Everything truly looked to be going just as Jircniv had planned it.
He pulled up to the Grand Arena in his carriage to meet his guards for the meeting. Since he was down to two Imperial Knights, losing Leinas and Nazami to Queen Taylar, albeit for much different reasons. The extra security would be needed for this occasion.
"It is an honor to meet you, Regent Jircniv. I am the leader of the Adamantite Adventurer Team Silver Thread Bird, Freivalds. We are at your disposal."
Upon leaving his carriage, Jircniv was greeted by a reddish-brown-haired man with brown eyes. He'd already known who the man was, but he was happy with the greeting. It seemed this team took their job seriously.
"Well met, Silver Thread Bird, I feel much better having the strongest Adventurer Team in the Empire handling the extra security."
"We shall endeavor to live up to our reputation, Regent Jircniv."
Jircniv then was introduced to the rest of the team, and they made their way into the Grand Arena. He was annoyed they wanted to take the door off when they reached his box but compromised by allowing them to break the lock.
Jircniv took his seat, and he hadn't felt this nervous in ages. He kept running different scenarios through his mind and coming up with answers the Slane Theocracy might ask. He couldn't afford to screw this up. They had to have answers he didn't yet since they'd been around for much longer than any other human nation.
Jircniv only hoped they realized he was genuine about wanting to rid this world of Ainz Ooal Gown and his Queens. He realized how they probably saw him when he offered no resistance after being soundly defeated, but he could play that to his advantage with the priests as well.
He had been staring off into space going through another scenario in his mind when the door to his box opened. He was more than grateful to see all he'd asked to come had. It wasn't just the priests of the Baharuth Empire, but also priests from the Slane Theocracy.
There were also two other people much more important than any priest could ever hope to be, whether they were from the Slane Theocracy or Baharuth Empire. The Cardinal of Fire, Berenice Santini, and the Cardinal of Light, Yvon Delacroix. Jircniv smiled as they walked toward him, and it was the first time in a long time, he didn't need to fake a smile.
"Welcome, my friends. Please, have a seat. Would you like some refreshments or food before we begin?"
He kept the smile plastered on his face, even as the priests and cardinals scowled at him.
"No, thank you, regent. The Six only know what might become of us if we were to accept."
He didn't really want to put up the contempt coming from Cardinal Yvon, but he didn't let his smile falter. He'd have to let them go through their moods if he was going to pull this off successfully.
"Very well, your holiness, perhaps you'd like to take your seats instead so we may begin?"
They still looked displeased, but they all nodded and took their seats. That was all Jircniv could hope for right now. Right as he went to sit down, he had to make an appearance for the crowd and wave to the sheep. It was annoying, and he disliked how low his applause was, but that would change once he rid the Baharuth Empire, and this world, of Ainz Ooal Gown.
Jircniv took his seat as the cardinals took the chairs on either side of him. His two remaining Imperial Knights took the two seats directly behind him, and the other priests filled in the empty seats.
It didn't escape him that the 'in descript' members of the Slane Theocracy party took up positions in the corners of the room. Right as he turned to start a conversation with Cardinal Yvon, she handed him a folded piece of paper.
Jircniv grinned internally as he took it from the woman. If she was handing him notes instead of speaking, that meant they were taking this meeting as seriously as he was. He wasn't surprised by any of the questions written down on the parchment.
Why should we trust someone who sold out so easily?
Why show interest in rebelling now when you could have sooner?
Do you have any supporters with you already?
Do you have a plan, or do you expect us to do everything?
Jircniv didn't mind any of these questions. He would have asked the same and much more if the circumstances were reversed. As soon as he went to put ink to parchment though...
"Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the main event of our evening! First, let me introduce our Warrior King! You all know him well, the undefeated champion of the Colosseum, the Martial Lord, Go-Gin!"
It may have been some time since Jircniv had seen the War Troll, but he ignored the plate-covered troll and instead started answering some of the questions. That was until he finally got to hear who the challenger to face the Martial Lord was.
"Next, our challenger! You all know him well but have never seen him as you will tonight! Please give a warm Baharuth Empire welcome to the Breaker of Chains, Overlord of Death, and Exalted King of our Empire, Ainz Ooal Gown!"
Jircniv froze in disbelief and dropped his quill as his eyes went wide. He couldn't have heard that right and stood from his chair to walk toward the railing. A pit formed in his stomach as he watched Ainz Ooal Gown walk out onto the Colosseum floor with one of his maids.
"You set us up!"
"We should have known not to trust you!"
"You're a traitor to the human-"
"Regent Jircniv, fancy meeting you here. It has been quite some time. Who are your friends?"
While it was hard to tell which priest was yelling at him, they all stopped talking the moment Ainz Ooal Gown appeared in front of them, floating just outside the balcony. The aura they felt this close to him made goosebumps rise all over their bodies, no matter who they were.
"I'm sorry. We cannot offer you a proper greeting, but an emergency has come up we must attend to."
It wasn't Jircniv who answered, but Cardinal Berenice. Honestly, Jircniv had no idea what to say, so he was grateful the woman answered.
"It must be urgent to forgo introducing yourselves to the king of the country you are in."
Ainz said that to twist the knife into Jircniv a bit more. His fate had already been sealed, but he'd torture him as much as he could, in any way that he could, until this was over and done with.
"Good day."
The priests turned to leave, but they didn't even get to turn more than a couple of inches before...
*MASS HOLD SPECIES*
"There was really no need for the introductions. I already know who all of you are, but perhaps we should introduce you to everyone else, hmm?"
Ainz had the Hanzos turn the ones who couldn't quite see and chuckled as their eyes widened seeing what was behind him. Those of the Slane Theocracy could only liken it to the Thousand Mile Astrologer's scrying pool, but much larger and floating in the middle of the Colosseum.
Little did they know, it wasn't only the people in the Colosseum who were witnessing what was going on. This is why Ainz had to make sure Aureole could pull this off. There were large scrying windows like this floating over every city and village she could make one in.
There were multiple ones over Arwintar alone, but they didn't stop there. Aureole's windows stretched from the Argland Council in the northwest to the Roble Holy Kingdom in the southwest, to the Beastman Kingdom in the southeast to the City-State Alliance in the northeast, and everywhere in between. Ainz is fairly certain most of the known world was watching these events unfold in real-time.
"For those that don't know me, I am the Exalted King of the Saiko Kingdom Ainz Ooal Gown, and I am interrupting your day today to deliver a message to the world. One I hope leaves a lasting impression on each and every one of you who witness these events."
Ainz wanted to keep it short to help Aureole, but he needed to make a point, and that did take a bit of time.
"While you all know Regent Jircniv here, let me introduce you to his guests from the Slane Theocracy, the Cardinal of Light, Yvon Delacroix, the Cardinal of Fire, Berenice Santini, High Priest of water, Benera, Captain Saemus of the Clearwater Scripture, and the most ironic and hypocritical one of them all, High Priestess of Darkness, Calya."
Ainz knew he should move on, but he'd wanted to know this answer since he'd found out about the Six Great Gods, so he couldn't keep his mouth shut.
"I would love to know, Priestess Calya, how a nation that puts humans above all others and has tried to murder me on many occasions simply because I'm a heteromorphic race, can say and believe everything you do while worshipping an undead?"
Ainz could tell some of them realized what was going on. He couldn't wait to see when they realized they really didn't know where this was going.
"I suppose that doesn't truly matter though." Ainz chuckled. "I'm sure many of you are wondering how I know those from the Slane Theocracy so well. Well, you see, the Slane Theocracy has sent mediocre assassins and horrible poisoners to try and kill me since the moment I made myself known to the world. While I was more than happy to brush aside their pathetic attempts at taking my life, I cannot overlook what was transpiring here today."
Ainz wonders if the city of Arwintar has ever been this quiet.
"I did not mind it when they were coming after me, as they failed miserably every time, but I will not have these fools disrupt the peace I have brought any longer. I have shown nothing but mercy and patience for the fools of this world, but that stops here and now."
Ainz made sure he sounded a bit more menacing, and it wasn't hard. Just looking at Jircniv's face was nearly sending him into a rage.
"I have given Jircniv more chances than any ruler should have, and many more than I know he would afford me if our positions were reversed, and how does he repay my kindness? He plots with the Slane Theocracy behind my back to kill me and those I love, and now... I have run out of mercy."
Even Ainz nearly shivered when he said that last sentence, he spoke it with such fury.
"I have shown mercy, and now you believe it is a weakness of mine, but you will find I have none left for anyone. Today is a lesson for every one of you watching this. I will give you a preview of the destruction I shall bring down upon you if you try to disrupt my peace. Yuri Alpha!"
"How may I serve you, my king?"
Yuri bowed in the middle of the Colosseum toward her king, even if he was well above her.
"This is Yuri Alpha, vice-captain of the Pleiades Combat Maids and Royal Mid-Wife of Nazarick." Ainz made sure they all heard the words maid and mid-wife so they would realize what was happening. "Yuri, play with the Martial Lord for me."
"As you command, your majesty."
Everyone watched in disbelief as the maid started strolling toward the Warrior King with her hands folded in front of her like she was taking a walk in the park. When she got within range, the Warrior King raised his spiked club and brought it down with all his might on top of the maid who was foolish enough to try and stand against him.
He struck her with such force, a small crater formed in the ground and a dust cloud kicked up. When the dust cleared, everyone gasped in surprise, even the Martial Lord. Why? Well, Yuri Alpha was standing in the crater, holding back the Warrior King's weapon with a single finger.
Not that he would have been able to avoid it if he was paying attention, but the shock at seeing such a thing froze the Martial Lord. Yuri took one step toward him and struck his chest plate with her open palm.
The blow was so powerful, it dented the Martial Lord's armor in the shape of a handprint and sent the War Troll flying across the Colosseum before he slammed into the wall. It took him a lot of wiggling to free himself, and he gulped in fear as he looked up to see Yuri Alpha calmly walking toward him once more.
*FLOW ACCELERATION*
He activated one of his Martial Arts to catch Yuri off guard, but she ducked right underneath it. He couldn't stop the momentum of the swing and he felt pain shoot through his shoulder as Yuri's fist connected with his shoulder blade.
He felt the bones crack, but his regeneration had already started healing them. He just kept the momentum from the swing and punch going to spin around and attack her once more. This time she jumped over his swing and kicked his other shoulder.
Go-Gin felt those bones break as well, but nothing made him writhe in pain more than when she landed, sidestepped, and her fist connected with the knee on the same side as the shoulder she just attacked.
Go-Gin had no choice but to go to one knee, so he didn't completely fall over. He did the only thing he could and brought the club down to try and smash her into the ground once more. Yuri just stepped toward him, so she was too close for him to hit with his reach and the bottom of her foot connected with his chest.
It left an imprint just below her hand imprint and sent him flying back into the wall of the Colosseum once more. This time though, he didn't manage to wiggle himself out.
Yuri Alpha was on him the moment he went into the wall. He felt a blow to his chest again then each thigh followed by one to each side of his jaw. He could feel his bones breaking and healing over and over again as she worked her fists and feet all over his body.
Go-Gin tried to fight back with his club and then his fists, but she dodged, parried, or straight-up caught every attack he threw at her. When she started rapidly punching his face and chest, he knew he was about to die. He put everything he had into one last strike with his club, but it only served to show the world just how strong a maid of Ainz Ooal Gown's was.
*IMPROVED SUNDER*
Yuri didn't block, catch, dodge, or parry his great club. She met his swing with her fist and his, very expensive, supposedly impossible to destroy, great club was shattered into a million pieces with her martial art.
Go-Gin had long accepted his defeat, but as Yuri pummeled him to death, he went out with a smile on his face knowing he'd finally faced someone who was strong. After all, it wasn't easy to kill a troll with your bare fists and no magic or fire. When Yuri saw him go completely limp and not regenerate, she turned and bowed to Ainz.
"It is done, your majesty. I am sorry it took so long, but I wished to display some power as you requested."
"Think nothing of it, Yuri. You have done well." Ainz then had the attention of the crowd and window back on him. "That is the power of one of my Pleiades, and only a fraction of what I have at my disposal. Now, you will witness the consequences of betraying me."
Ainz just floated over a bit and grabbed Jircniv by the throat. He floated to the middle of the Grand Arena nearly to the roof. He did learn that you could still piss your pants while paralyzed when Jircniv did so.
"Jircniv, you have sealed your own fate as a traitor. The penalty for treason is eternal death."
Ainz let him slip from his grasp, but not before making sure he started to rotate slowly, very slowly. Ainz ended up setting his spin perfectly as his head was the first thing to hit the Colosseum floor.
The sickening crunch it made was very satisfying to Ainz, just as satisfying as watching his brains go everywhere. He took himself to the ground of the Colosseum between the two bodies, and it was time for the final show.
"If you think death is the end for traitors, you are all sadly mistaken."
*CREATE ELDER LICH*
Everyone watched wide-eyed as the flesh rotted off Jircniv's bones and the former emperor stood with tattered robes wrapped in arcane runes. You could see his skull was in a thousand pieces and barely held together from the fall when he then took a knee in front of Ainz.
"How may I serve you, master?"
"Go keep your friends from the Slane Theocracy company, Jircniv."
"As you command, master."
Ainz grinned and followed Jircniv back up to the box. He intentionally made Jircniv a useless undead, but to these pathetic 'priests' an Elder Lich was a problem. He had no intention of torturing these priests though, not physically at least.
"I will no longer look the other way, and I will no longer tolerate anyone trying to disrupt my peace. My mercy has run out as well as my patience. If you test me, I will destroy you and everything you hold dear. Do not think there isn't a length I will not go to protect what I love. I will see this entire world burn if need be, so those I love are safe."
He was happy to see everyone from the Slane Theocracy piss their pants.
"This is your only and final warning, Slane Theocracy and all those watching. Test me at your own peril. And for those of you in the Baharuth Empire, you will come to the Imperial Palace entrance and pledge yourselves to your new ruler tomorrow at noon. Do enjoy the rest of your day..."
Not only did the scrying windows disappear all over the world, but so did Ainz and Yuri from the Colosseum along with Go-Gin's body and the new Elder Lich Jircniv. There were more than a few men and women who had to throw away the outfit they wore that day.
When Ainz appeared back in Nazarick, it wasn't hard to see everyone was giving him a wide berth as he walked down the hall toward his room. He knew they could tell he was still pissed, but that didn't mean he missed the look of awe and reverence on all their faces as he walked past them.
He ignored them all though because his day wasn't done yet. He was tempted to skip his room because he knew his lovers and children would make him smile, but he couldn't fight off the need to see them before leaving again.
Just as he predicted, the sight his eyes beheld stepping into the room of all his lovers playing with Daemon and Mieko brought a smile to his face. However, no matter how good they made him feel, he was scowling again the moment he closed the door to leave.
The moment the door clicked shut, Ainz disappeared. He reappeared and saw quite the sight. Shalltear, Sebas, and Cocytus are all in the middle of the Grand Arena, lightly sparring. He knew they'd be going much harder at each other if he hadn't given them orders to only warm up and not use much, if any, of their true power.
"My king!"
They all stopped, turned, and took a knee when Shalltear noticed him.
"Rise, I hope you have all sufficiently warmed up?"
"We have, your majesty. May I ask why you wished us to do so, your majesty?"
Ainz could always count on Sebas to ask questions he knew others in Nazarick didn't believe was their place to ask, like why he wanted them to do something.
"Of course, Sebas. I told you that you and Cocytus would be joining me for a visit. Well, that moment is upon us."
"Truly?"
"It is."
"Not that I mind the extra strength Lord Ainz, but why bring Shalltear as well now?"
Cocytus looked like he was going to strike Sebas for questioning Ainz so much, but Ainz was grateful, so he spoke before Cocytus could even say anything.
"Shalltear shall not be joining us, Sebas."
"But... But your majesty! I want to-"
"You have a much more important job, Shalltear." That shut her up and got her to listen. "You are to guard Nazarick, in case everything goes bad for us." Ainz held up his hand to stop all their protests. "If the worst comes to pass, and somehow an army of dragons descends upon Nazarick, you will slaughter them all Shalltear!"
Shalltear was smiling at that proclamation.
"I shall try my hardest not to let you down, my king!"
Shalltear tried to show her resolve to Ainz, but she flinched at his response.
"You shall not try, Shalltear! You WILL NOT let me down! I am entrusting everything I hold dear to your might. You will do EVERYTHING in your power to destroy anyone who attempts to invade Nazarick! Do you understand me?!"
Shalltear can't remember a time she'd heard her king so intense about anything.
"I promise, my king. No one will even get close enough to try to enter!"
Ainz believed her and thanked her before dropping a kiss on her forehead and disappearing with Sebas and Cocytus. There was one more he needed to get, and it was meant as a message to those he was about to meet.
However, Ainz had no idea the determination that simple act gave Shalltear.
Suveria Myronsilk, the Blue Sky Dragon Lord, sat around the councilors' table looking at the other Dragon Lords of the Argland Council, minus one, trying to process what they just witnessed. No matter what was running through any of their minds right now, he knew they all confirmed one thing if nothing else.
Players had returned to the New World.
The only time any of them had witnessed a power of that magnitude was when the Player race from Yggdrasil had come to the New World. What made them all speechless, and shudder was the fact that this Player was obviously much stronger than the ones who'd come before him.
While it had been two centuries ago and the Dragon Lords had gotten stronger since then, it took ten of them to destroy one of the Evil Deities, and two Dragon Lords had lost their lives in that fight. Suveria isn't sure ten would be enough to defeat Ainz Ooal Gown if they needed to destroy him.
The even bigger problem was that this Player had come with, not only NPCs but, other Players as well. The confirmation of Ainz Ooal Gown being a Player only cemented in their minds that the ones known as Taylar, Albedo, and Rubedo must also be Players as well.
The Evil Deities and Greed Kings had NPCs as well, but it was made evident to them that those three had to be Players because of how Ainz Ooal Gown deferred to them at times. The Evil Deities and Greed Kings had only ordered their NPCs around, not asked for input or let them decide anything.
All this confirmation did though was terrify all in attendance. If it had taken ten Dragon Lords to defeat one Evil Deity, what would it take to defeat four Players and their NPCs? It was a question Suveria wasn't sure there was an answer to, or it was a question he was afraid of the answer to. Either way, it was not good for the New World no matter how you thought about it.
"We must do something! We cannot let this Player do with this world as he likes!"
That was Omnaadsence sounding off like he could do something about it himself. Suveria hated when he did this. He wasn't even stronger than Suveria was, and he ran his mouth about his strength much too often for Suveria's liking. He went to open his mouth to tell him to shut up and think, but Gessenvult beat him to it.
"Be quiet you fool! You know damn well we can do nothing about this! Keep your stupid thoughts to yourself!"
"You dare speak to me like that, weakling?! You may not be able to-"
"Oh, do shut up Omnaa." Zalaziklia cuts in. "You know full well you'd be killed in an instant if you were to fight Ainz Ooal Gown."
"Just because you are afraid to face him doesn't mean-"
"Ha hahaha." Zalaziklia interrupts him again. "I'm not afraid you fool. I know it is a fool's endeavor to try and match the might of a Player solo. Instead of spouting off at the mouth, we should send for Tsaindorcus to join us to give us his input before we decide anything. I believe this is a decision he would like to have a say on."
Suveria finally watched them all nod in agreement at something and went quiet after the suggestion. He was about to agree to send someone to summon the Platinum Dragon Lord when...
ROARRRRRRR!
A roar from a Dragon that definitely rivaled the Platinum Dragon Lord resounded from the opening in the council chambers. None of them missed the fact this roar certainly wasn't the Platinum Dragon Lords as it contained far too much malevolence and death to be said Dragon Lord.
What came into view only moments later from the open in the chambers made all their skin crawl in dread. A dragon, darker than a moonless night, descended into the chambers and nearly made all of them jump out of their scales.
It landed surprisingly gracefully, but the force it landed with still shook the chambers. When it eyed each of them with its black eyes and crimson vertical slits, that horrible feeling washed over them again. It didn't get any better when they noticed Ainz Ooal Gown float down from the Dragon's neck and land next to its face.
"Thank you, Aurgloroasa. Go and protect the skies for me."
"Yes, master."
They all watched the ancient dragon take off back through the opening in the chambers, and when they looked back at Ainz Ooal Gown, he was not alone. There was no one on the dragon's back other than him, but on either side of him was a human dressed as a butler and a blue insectoid.
"Four of the Five Dragon Councilors, I am Ainz Ooal Gown, and I apologize for the rude interruption. However, we have some business that cannot be put off any longer."
It took everything all four of them had no to shiver at what that might mean for them. None of them, even Omnaa, were stupid enough to think all of them could defeat one of those who now stood before them, let alone all three of them.
"What business do you have with the Argland Council State, your majesty?"
Suveria wanted to pat himself on the back for keeping his voice even and steady.
"I know you are aware of my warning to this world earlier, Suveria. While I had no issue airing my grievances against the Slane Theocracy for the public, it would serve no purpose to air my grievances with your council for the world to hear. More specifically, your missing member and one of your unofficial, official, members."
"I'm sorry, your majesty, but other than the Platinum Dragon Lord, this council is not missing any members."
When Ainz chuckled at Suveria, he could see the Dragon Lord shudder in fright.
"As I said, unofficial, official member, I'm speaking of the Dragon Lord Alliance you formed against Players from Yggdrasil, of course, not this five-member council, and the Dragon Lord in question is the Brightness Dragon Lord."
Suveria wanted to pat himself on the back again when he didn't react to Ainz Ooal Gown knowing of the Dragon Lord Alliance Against Yggdrasil, but the other three gave away their surprise rather easily, so he felt it moot.
"While we may call on the Brightness Dragon Lord in times of peril, your majesty, he does not report to this council, nor inform us of his activities. I'm not sure how-"
Suveria was interrupted by a bone-chilling chuckle from Ainz Ooal Gown.
"I am not here to play the game of politics with you, Suveria. I understand you and those you discuss matters with are used to talking around points without making any, but I am tired of such games and have no interest in playing them with you. I am here to deliver a warning, nay, a promise, and that is all, Blue Sky Dragon Lord."
Before any of them could even open their mouths, Ainz continued.
"I have put up with your Platinum Dragon Lord spying on me since I revealed myself to the world, and my patience has run thin dealing with it, just as it has with the Slane Theocracy. While he has not tried to take my life, so his crimes are not as egregious, his attempts have grown annoying and tiresome on my daughter."
If nothing else, Suveria was going to file that new information away for later.
"We allowed him to witness our battle at the Katze Plains to show him that he should stop, but he has only grown bolder. And now, we have the Brightness Dragon Lord poking his nose in our business as much as your Platinum Dragon Lord, and just like my mercy, I have run out of patience, Dragon Lord Council."
Suveria couldn't hold back the shiver when Ainz's eyes flashed red as he said that.
"You will deliver the message to the Platinum Dragon Lord, Tsaindorcus Vaision, and the Brightness Dragon Lord that the Saiko Kingdom will no longer accept this attempted espionage. If either one of them attempts to spy on my kingdom one more time, we will hold the entire Argland Council State responsible for their actions... and respond accordingly."
"Your majesty, surely you cannot hold all our people accountable for their actions? Neither one of them answers to this council and-"
"The Platinum Dragon Lord is the head of this council and founder of this nation. His actions are all of your actions, and regardless of how much you try to deny it, we both know the Brightness Dragon Lord is a close ally of yours."
Suveria couldn't hide the gulp. Even he was having trouble fathoming how Ainz Ooal Gown knew all of this about the Argland Council when he'd only been here a short time.
"I'm done playing the games you like to play here, and I'll do anything to keep all I hold dear safe. Tell them of my promise and stop deflecting as if you cannot get a message to them. This is a one-time warning, if your attempted espionage happens once more, you shall receive no more warnings, only despair..."
ROARRRRRRRRR!
They all went to shiver at his last words anyway, but the vile and unnatural roar of the large undead dragon they'd heard earlier rang through the air and made it even worse. They all took a small step back when he landed in the middle of the room and Ainz Ooal Gown spread his wings to land on the dragon's neck.
"I only wish for peace, Dragon Lords. Do not make me return to show you the lengths I am willing to go to obtain it..."
With that, Aurgloroasa leapt into the air and Ainz Ooal Gown flew away from the Argland Council. He headed back to where he wanted to be, at home with his family. The Dragon Lords didn't even notice Cocytus and Sebas had disappeared without them even knowing.
When Ainz had made his point and flew far enough away from the Dragon Lords, he teleported off the dragon's back and into his office. He had plenty of work to do, and most of it needed to be done before going to the Baharuth Empire tomorrow morning.
He wanted nothing more than to return to his children, but he'd have to put that off for a little while. He actually hadn't been in this room in a while. He'd completely put ruling on the back burner to spend time with his family, so he was a little puzzled when he opened his top right drawer to begin writing and saw an unfamiliar book sitting there.
Ainz picked it up and examined it, and it only took a moment to realize what it was. The moment it clicked, Demiurge's message all those months ago repeated in his head.
{We found the journal of Surshana you were searching for; it is in your top right desk drawer}
Ainz opened the book and started flipping through it. He saw it was the one he was searching for, as it was page after page of the same experiment Surshana had been conducting in the other journals to defeat the Greed Kings if he could break the level cap.
Ainz flipped through page after page until he finally got near the end. The title alone made him stop flipping quickly and start reading every word. My Last Attempt...
If anything would catch his eye, it would be this title for this experiment. Ainz saw the book was almost over, and he didn't see any room for more experiments. Of course, there could always be another book, but he doubts that after Ainz started reading. It got him very excited the more he read.
We have arrived at my last resort, and I can only pray to whatever deity out there this will work. To be honest, I always believed this would be my best shot at achieving my goal, but I knew I'd only get one shot with this, and it is so powerful, it could be used for so much more than just me gaining more power.
The reason I hesitate to use this is that I only get one shot with this item, and if I fail, there is no redo. I only have one of these items, and I was beyond lucky to obtain the one I do have.
I won this item in the Gatcha Machine the day I was sent to this New World. I stayed on until the forced logout for the update, but I was sent here instead of waking up in my room.
While I spent way too much money on that damn game, I felt it was worth it when I won this item after all of those attempts. It was supposed to come out the update after the one that sent us here, but I knew being one of the few to gain this rare prize beforehand would come in handy one day.
I know if I had not been sent here until after that update, I would not have the worry's I do now. However, I was sent here beforehand, and now have this as my last resort to defeat these evil NPCs, for I know that is what they are now.
I was never able to obtain the magic required to pass Tier 7, as I was sent before the update for it, but I did win the rare Gatcha prize of the Ring of Wish.
While it had been teased that there would be one with three wishes in it, I know it was to come up after Players already had access to Super-Tier spells, something I desperately wished I had been around for as I don't know if I will be able to stop them if this does not work.
It was said you could wish for nearly anything with this ring in Yggdrasil if you worded it correctly, but now, I am just praying it will function in this world and give me access to the strength I need to save this world from those looking to destroy it.
Wish me luck...
Ainz couldn't flip to the next page fast enough. His eyes widened at the first two words on the next page.
It worked!
By the Gods, it truly worked! I can't believe a phrase as simple as "I wish for power beyond this world." coupled with using the Ring of Wish would truly work, but it did!
I can only hope this is enough power to finally vanquish my foes. While all the experience I thought I didn't gain in my time here did add to my total when I used the ring, it still wasn't enough to gain access to Super-Tier Spells.
I can only hope Tier 10 Spells will be sufficient to save this world from the evil that attempts to destroy it. I will do everything in my power to prevent the end from coming, I only hope I may tell the story of how it happened afterward...
Ainz flipped to the next page only to see it blank, and he expected that. He knew Surshana died fighting them off. He did manage to kill all of them, but he had to sacrifice himself in the process. Ainz had a feeling if the man had learned Super-Tier Spells, he'd still be around to this day, and there would be many more journals such as this one around the world.
However, no matter how grateful Ainz was Surshana was now gone, and he didn't think he had any Players to deal with, what he just read in that journal made goosebumps rise on his flesh in anticipation.
{Join me in the Grand Arena as soon as possible!}
Ainz sent that message to Taylar, Albedo, Rubedo, and Aureole. All four of them answered back immediately, and they appeared only seconds after he did in the middle of the Grand Arena.
"What's the emergency, my love?"
Taylar could see the excitement dancing in Ainz's eyes, and she knew it was nothing bad. She still wasn't prepared for what came out of Ainz's mouth.
"I'm ninety-nine percent certain I know how to break the level cap of this world."
"WHAT?!"
Taylar couldn't hold back her surprise it was so great.
"Demiurge found Surshana's journal I'd been looking for, and his final experiment was a success. According to Surshana, he was able to learn up to Tier 10 Spells once he figured it out, and it is impossible to deny those facts. Even we know the stories of Surshana wielding powerful magic no one had ever seen before against his foes before he died."
"How did he do it?"
It was Albedo who asked the obvious question. She didn't care why Ainz was smiling at her question. She only cared he looked incredibly handsome smiling at her like that.
"It is so simple, I'm a bit upset I hadn't thought of it." Ainz chuckled realizing how true that was now that he thought about it. "For him, it was a last resort, but for us, it is a simple matter of a Super-Tier Spell... he wished for it."
"You're kidding? That simple?"
Taylar was in just as much disbelief as Ainz was when he'd read it.
"That simple. I wanted you three to witness it. I'm going to try it on myself first."
"Wait Ainz, are you sure it's safe?"
He was touched all three of them said the same thing. He smiled at them to calm them.
"There was no mention of any pain or anything. His next words after trying were ones of joy, so even if it is a bit painful, it will be worth it if it works. Let me borrow Avarice and Generosity."
"Please be careful, my love."
Taylar was the first one to step up and wish him luck as she handed him the World Item he asked for and kissed his lips. Albedo then Rubedo were right behind her, minus handing over a World Item. Ainz slipped them on his hands, and the magic runes for Super-Tier Magic were soon circling around him.
Ainz waited the entire minute the Super-Tier Spell took before casting it. He was nearly shaking with anticipation when the runes shattered.
*WISH UPON A STAR*
"I wish for power beyond this world!"
Ainz didn't need to look at his Master Source to confirm it worked, he felt it immediately. Now, it wasn't as if he learned new spells, as he could already cast many Super Tier Spells. However, he felt every single one of his stats increase so much that it was noticeable to him.
Not only that, but he also felt... unrestrained. It was like he had been being held underwater before, but now he could breathe fresh air. He could feel everything around him from the air to the magic to the layers of space between each plane.
It was one of the most incredible feelings he'd ever experienced. When he finally looked down at his information on the Master Source, he only found two words that could express what he was feeling and seeing.
"Holy shit..."
It was staring him right in the face. The confirmation he'd read from Surshana that even if it hadn't looked like any of them were gaining experience, they most certainly were. Ainz had been 1 experience point from Level 116 in Yggdrasil, as high as you could be, but when he looked down at his information, it read he was Level 121, almost 122.
He'd gained over six levels in this world already, and Ainz was astonished he'd gotten that far. It was an insane amount of experience when you were that high level, and he hadn't fought anything strong at all since coming here.
However, no matter how excited and astonished he was that he now had twenty-one levels to spend how he liked, it was the classes he saw he could choose from that truly had him stunned. It was nothing like he expected.
In truth, Ainz expected to simply find classes similar to what he already was and boost his fighting skills. He didn't see the point in raising his caster level when he already knew Super-Tier Magic, but he hadn't anticipated the new 'classes' he could see on his information.
Ainz was still blinking in surprise thinking he was hallucinating when he told Taylar and Albedo to check when they questioned why he was speechless. They gasped and he knew it was true. The list of new 'classes' in front of him wasn't just him hallucinating.
God of Death
God of Magic
God of Souls
God of Freedom
God of War
God of Destruction
The list kept going to. Ainz realized it wasn't every single Godly title or domain, but every single one he was worshipped as in the New World. Ainz felt there was only one choice for the first one he would choose and dropped the first of the twenty-one levels to spend into God of Death.
He didn't regret it, at all.
His first level raised all his Death Magic Spells to a higher caster level and double the number of undead he could create per day, and it only got more ridiculous from there. Ainz discovered there were only five levels to God of Death after he spent the fifth one into it.
He couldn't believe the power it granted him over Death. He snapped his fingers after obtaining level five, and the entire Grand Arena and the surrounding forest were instantly filled with a Legendary Undead Army consisting of a million soldiers.
They ranged from Elder Liches to Eternal Deaths, and everything in between, and Ainz knew this one army alone could lay waste to the entire New World if he so desired. He did the only logical thing to test next, he tried it again.
Another army rose up as he snapped his fingers, and the first army stayed put as well. Ainz grinned, and so did Taylar, Albedo, and Rubedo when Ainz realized he just created two million undead by snapping his fingers twice. It hadn't even used up his daily Create Undead Ability, which he could now do unlimited for any Tier.
What ability he didn't test out from reaching Level 5 God of Death, but he simply told Taylar, Albedo, and Rubedo about was being able to use Raise Dead, Resurrection, and True Resurrection once a day for nothing now. He felt the second class he chose was also a no-brainer, God of Magic.
His first level doubled his Magic Power, and it had already been absurd, surpassing the maximum thought to be allowed in Yggdrasil already. If Fluder Paradyne were to look at his Magic Power now without a warning of what he would see, he would probably drop over dead from his brain overloading.
When he reached Level 5 in God of Magic, he grinned at Taylar and Albedo when he informed them, he now could cast any spell, arcane or divine, whenever he wished as the God of Magic. He also found he could use any metamagic feat from Yggdrasil, and a few he didn't know existed such as Reach Spell, Intensify Spell, Enhance Spell, Vile Spell, Sacred Spell, and a few others. He was as giddy as a child as he went through each of them.
Ainz ended up a Level 5 God of Death, Magic, Souls, and Freedom while putting his one last level into God of Destruction. They all thought him a fool for choosing Freedom until he put his fifth level into it. Ainz had been granted the ability of Ultimate Freedom. He could not be impeded or held in any way, shape, or form.
Meaning, no one could use a hold spell on him, he couldn't be mind controlled, and he could even walk underwater as though he was on dry land. It was truly an absurd ability that made the other levels more than worth it, even if he'd gotten some decent things from the first four levels.
From the levels he put into God of Souls, Ainz could basically manipulate anyone's soul at any time, for any purpose. Now, he kind of wished he'd waited to create Aurgloroasa until now, he would be ten times as powerful if he would have. However, he felt he could seriously buff his Deathwyrm with his new abilities permanently.
After Ainz spent all of his levels and was immensely happy he was almost at his next level, Ainz reluctantly used Avarice and Generosity on Taylar. He didn't want to, being as she was pregnant, but he hadn't felt the slightest difference in himself other than more powerful and she wasn't concerned it would harm their child, so he did it.
She had also been at 1 experience before Level 116, and after he'd used the spell on her, she was at Level 121 as he was. The difference was she wasn't close to the next level, just barely into Level 121.
Ainz knew this was because she'd worn Avarice and Generosity and killed tens of thousands with them on at the Katze's Plains before giving them to Rubedo to do the same, while he'd killed over a hundred thousand with no such item on.
Ainz rolled his eyes when she selected Goddess of Beauty first. He found it absurd she would need such a class, and his eyes nearly bulged out of his head when Taylar actually got more beautiful than she'd already been. He didn't think it was possible, but he watched her face get prettier and her body curvier in front of his very eyes.
Ainz is surprised he and Albedo didn't pounce on her right then and there.
He barely remembers Taylar telling him she was looking at the same thing. She could only take classes those of the New World worshipped her for. There was no Goddess of Death on her list, but it made sense, nothing about her said Death, no matter how much she claimed life and death were one and the same.
In the end, Ainz was glad she chose her last three classes to max out wisely. Taylar ended up with five levels in Goddess of Beauty, Goddess of Creation, Goddess of Magic, and Goddess of Life while using her one remaining level for Goddess of Love. Ainz thought it was a waste, but she could do what she wanted after he saw the abilities she was granted as Goddess of Creation and Goddess of Magic.
While Goddess of Magic worked just as his God of Magic did, her Goddess of Creation abilities were OP, and Ainz means that in comparison to his already extremely OP abilities he'd been granted from his classes.
Without getting into too much detail, just know she could now use the Super-Tier Spells Origin of Species and Immortality whenever she wished along with any structure she created, through any Tier of Magic, now permanent with auto-fill functions, if she so desired.
Once Taylar had finished, Ainz didn't hesitate to do the same with Albedo. She had also gained eight levels, which was surprising, but she wasn't maxed out as they were. Albedo was Level 108 now, and the only thing that explained it was she got much more XP for ruling than any of them believed they got.
Ainz couldn't think of any other way she could have gained eight levels. She hadn't taken part in the battle at the Katze Plains, just observed, but she'd gained more experience than Ainz and Taylar.
Unlike them though, Goddess classes were not available to her upon breaking the level cap. She could put them in normal Yggdrasil classes if she liked, but she opted for the new racial class that appeared for her, even if it wasn't a Goddess class.
Queen of the Abyss.
When she put her first level into it, Ainz was convinced it was, indeed, a Goddess class, just not named as one. Everything she described to them sounded like when they'd gained a level in a deific class. It seemed to Ainz as though Queen of the Abyss meant Goddess of the Abyss.
When she dropped her fifth level into it, he was convinced that was the case. She had complete and total control over abyssal fire and started spouting off what resided on what level of the Abyss. Ainz thought that the last one would be handy when they wanted to obtain more power than they already had.
What truly convinced him his theory was correct though was what happened after her fifth level of Queen of the Abyss. The class only had five levels, just like their deific ones, and when she maxed it out, all the Goddess classes she was worshipped for unlocked on her Master Source.
While Ainz felt it was a waste, he said nothing as she put all three levels into Goddess of Beauty. At this point, he had more than enough power, along with Taylar, that it didn't make any difference if they both took nothing but classes such as Goddess of Beauty, Love, Lust, Sex, etc.
Once Albedo was finished, he moved on to Rubedo. He was surprised by her five levels, as she hadn't done much of anything, at least, that he could remember, but he was at least grateful she didn't 'waste' her five levels. She put all of them into Goddess of Destruction.
Watching Rubedo snap her fingers and make a giant portion of the forest disappear after her fifth level was put into it resigned Ainz to the fact he'd be putting his next four levels into God of Destruction so he would gain such a ludacris ability.
They decided to spend the rest of the day and night with their children, and each other, before tomorrow morning, which came much too quickly for Ainz's liking. Even as he stood on the steps in front of the Imperial Palace in Arwintar with Taylar and Albedo on either side of him, he thought this morning came too quickly.
Not even the sight of the entire city kneeling before the three of them made Ainz want to be here. He'd rather be with his children, who were being looked after by very happy and excited citizens of Nazarick, a shit ton of them, like ten thousand. Ainz wasn't taking any chances. He told them to rise so he could get this over with.
"People of the Baharuth Empire, today is the day I rectify a mistake I made when I went lightly on the former emperor. I should have installed a ruler whom I knew would only have your and our best interest in mind when ruling over you. Instead of a man who only obsessed over getting his lost power back."
Ainz had already said more than he wanted, but even he had to do a little song and dance for this.
"From this day forward, you have my word your ruler will only care if you are safe, fed, housed, and happy with your lives. The power-grabbing of old is over with, and a new day has dawned for the Baharuth Empire. I give to you the new ruler of the Baharuth Empire, Empress Rubedo Gown."
Ainz was glad his speech was over because when he turned, he was left completely speechless. It all made sense now why they insisted Rubedo get ready and only join him when he was finished. He'd never seen her in those colors, and he is certain she only looks more beautiful in one moment, when she was wearing nothing.
He expected a gold or green dress of some sort, if not just her normal attire. It might be Divine Level armor, but it was also very fashionable. However, there wasn't a stitch of gold or green to be found on Rubedo save her hair and eyes.
Her dress was almost all black, which shocked him enough. Seeing that it was cut in an hourglass figure to fit her body perfectly only enhanced the beauty of her and the dress. However, the thousands of diamonds that lined the hourglass shape made her truly look like an Empress of Empresses.
The only thing above her bust was three platinum chains with diamonds on them that started over her right breast, connected to one chain and went over her shoulder to run down her spine. The chain connects at the small of her back to another set of diamonds lining the small of her back. Her shoulders, neck, and arms were all bare save for the ring on her left finger and two Celestial bracelets.
However, the dress wasn't all black and diamonds, and it got even sexier, if you can believe that with how much skin she was showing up top, the farther down you went. The hourglass opening on her side went down to her hips, and the dress hugged her body down to her thighs.
The black fabric didn't even reach mid-thigh yet in the middle when a large slit started, just barely off centered between her legs. The dress may go down to the floor, but when the wind slightly picked up, Ainz saw a color he wasn't expecting.
Underneath all that black, Ainz saw a brilliant, bright blue satin that made up the underside of her dress, and it made her stand out even more. He even barely noticed the black and white heels she wore to make her legs even more outrageous.
####### (INSERTIMAGERUBEDOEMPRESS) #######
"Kneel before you Empress and pledge your fealty."
Ainz has no idea how he managed to say any of that sentence, let alone loud enough for everyone to instantly follow his command. If he had to guess, he'd say they probably just did it because of the sight Rubedo made at that moment.
Ainz had to actively stop himself from kneeling to her himself. However, he just smirked it off by thinking about doing just that very thing, later, much later, eh, maybe not that late tonight. Although, he also thought he might have to hold off from using such a cheap trick on him, even if he was the one who asked them to do it in the first place.
That hourglass figure of hers was what she normally looked like, but Rubedo was the first one to take his suggestion about using magical clothing to hide their pregnancy. Ainz knew all too well how big with child she was under that dress, and it made him grateful she only said a few quick words after the murmurs and pledges died down.
"Thank you, for the warm welcome, people of Arwintar and the Baharuth Empire. As His Majesty has said, I hope to make sure you are all safe and happy while you are under my care. If you have any needs, please don't hesitate to let myself or anyone in a position to help you, help you. I look forward to seeing all of us prosper in the coming years."
Ainz didn't rightfully care that they cheered when he kissed her, and he didn't even hear Taylar and Albedo giggling when they got out of view of the people, and he opened a Gate. Nope, Ainz was only concentrated on one thing, and that focus would be solely on that one thing for the next few hours...
So, I finally finished Chapter 26 huh? Unfortunately, I have no idea when I'll write Chapter 27, but it will come eventually. I'll try not to have it be another year before the next update, but as I said, I can't promise that. I really don't have the desire to write at the moment, and I have no idea when that will wane. Kind of sad really because I always used to focus the most on this single story. I try to push through it because it surprised and motivated me that this fanfiction has gotten as popular as it has. After going back and reading some of my first chapters, I can't believe this story became this popular with my absolutely horrid writing lol. It hasn't gotten much better, but it has gotten better lol. I would have laughed in your face if you would have told me right before I posted the first chapter of this story it would be the 12 most favorited and followed Overlord fanfic on Fanfiction, but here we are. 3 years and 500k views later lol. I'll try to power through because it is a very, very small minority who always seems to have a problem with everything I write, and a much, much large group who enjoys my writing, whether it is rated Teen or it has Smut lol. The one thing that might motivate me to write is there are only two chapters left of this story. I did start writing two crossovers a while ago, but I'm not going to say I'll ever post them because I haven't written anything for them, or even opened their files, in almost two years. Perhaps after I finish this, I'll post what I have written and someone else can pick it up and finish it or something, who knows? Thanks for reading my long rant at the end and I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Until next time!
