Chapter 7. Home Again?
Assi woke up the next morning in her own bedroom. She sat up quickly and looked around the room, after a bit she concluded that it really was her bedroom. Could everything about Asgard and Loki have been a dream? But it seemed so real. She rubbed her eyes and got out of bed, noticing that she was wearing her pajamas, she reached for the necklace Loki gave her, but it wasn't where she left it, although she remembered putting it next to her bed when she went to sleep that night. She looked around for it but couldn't find it, that worried her because she would hate to have lost it, because she really loved it. so, if she couldn't find it then that meant that the whole Asgard experience really was a dream? She would have to ask Scarlett because she was there too.
She went to the dining room where Scarlett and Austin were sitting at the table, eating breakfast. "Good morning Assi." Austin greeted her. "Hi . . . uh Scarlett I have a question." Assi sat down at the table. "What is it?" "Were we in Asgard or was that a dream?" she asked. Scarlett thought for a bit. "If it was a dream, then we had the same one. Let's ask Snaedĩs if she remembers. . ." Scarlett paused as she turned to Austin. "Is something wrong?" Assi asked. Scarlett looked at her, "We haven't seen Snaedĩs this morning." The two girls got up and looked around for Snaedĩs but couldn't find her. "We lost Snaedĩs!" Scarlett and Assi said together. "Did you try calling her phone?" Assi asked trying not to freak out more. "No." Scarlett picked up her phone and called Snaedĩs, but it just went to voicemail, Scarlett gave Assi and Austin a worried look. "I'll go look for her." Assi said, her friends nodded and then the three of them, went out to find Snaedĩs.
Loki went to the dining room, where his family was eating. "Good morning, dear." Frigg greeted with a smile. He smiled back and took his seat between Fandral and Vāli who were laughing. Loki then noticed that everyone was laughing. "I wish that I could have seen that." Balder said. Loki looked at him "Seen what?" "What you did with the goat." Balder laughed more. Loki turned beat red. He noticed Snaedĩs sitting next to Höd. Loki knew that he was forgetting something, when he brought Scarlett and Assi back to Midgard, which was odd for him. because he has always been good at remembering things, but it seemed like as soon as he met Assi, he's been distracted lately. "I have more questions." Snaedĩs looked at the raven-haired prince. Loki ignored her and just ate his breakfast quietly. He had a feeling that she would ask him anyway. He would let her ask him as many questions as she wanted on the Bifröst, Loki glared at Höd and Balder because they were still laughing along with the other gods. Fandral just patted his friend on the back. The God of Mischief sighed, he hated this. He just hoped that Snaedĩs wouldn't bring up the story about Sleipnir, even though everyone at the table knew the story, but he still didn't want them to tease him about it.
Loki, Fandral and Snaedĩs rode on horseback down the Bifröst. "What is the Bifröst made of? And does it burn your feet when you walk on it?" Snaedĩs asked. The two Asgardians looked at each other. "Not sure. Maybe magic." Fandral replied. "And I'm wearing boots, so it can't burn my feet." Loki added. He wondered if the mortals wrote that he was a frost giant, they probably did if Snaedĩs knew that the Bifröst would burn his feet. Snaedĩs asked question after question. Loki was getting tired of being asked so many things. "Could you loosen your grip?" Loki asked. Snaedĩs's arms were wrapped around his waist tightly, "Oh, sorry." She said loosening her grip. When the three reached the end of the Bifröst, they got off of the horses, Fandral helped Snaedĩs off, Loki would have done it but had a feeling that it would be better if the blond warrior helped Snaedĩs. "Heimdall opened the Gate." Loki ordered.
Heimdall opened it for the mortal woman to go back home. Fandral and Snaedĩs went through it. "Do you think sending Fandral to Midgard was a good idea?" Heimdall asked closing the Bifröst and turned back to Loki. "No, probably not." He shook his head. "But I haven't seen Fandral so happy . . . since Marian." Loki got back onto his horse. "Aye." Heimdall agreed. "Do you care to tell me why, you sent Lady Assi and her friend home?" normally he wouldn't question orders, but it just seemed a bit odd, because it was easy to see how much Loki and Assi cared about each other, so for the Prince to send her away was strange. But Loki ignored his brother and rode back to the city quietly.
Thor, Sif and Ullr greeted Loki when he returned to the city. "Brother, why did you send Assi back to Midgard?" Thor asked. Loki got off his horse and went quiet for a bit. "I . . . I love her . . . but we can't be together." Loki said looking down. Thor pulled him into a tight hug. "It's alright, you can always visit her brother." Thor said trying to cheer him up. "No... It's better for her if we never see each other again." Loki said freeing himself from his brother's hug. Then he led his horse back to the stable. "He misses her." Sif said. "Yes, he does. I don't think he'll be able to stay away from her forever." Thor said, Sif agreed, they both were wondering if Odin knew that Loki was in love with a Mortal, because if so then Loki and Assi would be in big trouble, and Sif was worried about the God of Mischief although the two were not close. but that still didn't mean she couldn't worry about her husband's brother, because who knew what the All-Father would do if he found out about his youngest son. Thor went after his brother because he knew that Loki would want someone to talk to, even if he didn't want to admit it, and with Fandral on Midgard. Thor would be the only one who Loki would talk to and tell him what was bugging him.
Fandral and Snaedĩs walked through the town. People stared at Fandral, but he just greeted them with kind smiles. He winked at a few women who didn't seem interested in him. Soon Fandral and Snaedĩs reached Scarlett and Assi's apartment. "Is this your palace?" he asked following Snaedĩs up to the door, "It's not a palace, and no it's not mine." Snaedĩs said. They walked inside and went to Scarlett and Assi's apartment. Snaedĩs took out the key, Scarlett gave her and unlocked the door. Fandral followed her inside, they saw Austin, Scarlett and Assi sitting at the table with some Police officers. "Snaedĩs. Where were you?" Assi asked jumping to her feet and walked over to her sister. "Asgard." Snaedĩs replied entering the room with Fandral close behind. Scarlett and Assi looked at each other because now it seemed more likely that it wasn't a dream, because if Snaedĩs was still in Asgard it couldn't have been a dream. They were still unsure how they got back to Norway, but who or whatever brought them forgot that Snaedĩs was also there. Maybe it's because Snaedĩs was very quiet. Austin thanked the officers for their help, then they left.
Fandral took Snaedĩs's hand and kissed it. "Now that you are safe my snow goddess, I'll take my leave." "That's what my name means." Snaedĩs said. He smiled let go of her hand and turned to leave. "Don't flirt with my sister, French Man." Assi said putting her hands on her hips. Fandral chuckled a bit. "He really does look French." Scarlett agreed. "Well, like I told you three the other day my mother is French." Fandral reminded as he left the apartment, after giving Snaedĩs another smile, she rolled her eyes, Scarlett and Assi giggled a bit. Because Snaedĩs seemed to like Fandral even though she didn't want to admit it. "So now that Snaedĩs is here safe and sound, you guys want to grab something to eat?" Austin asked the three girls.
Scarlett, Assi, Austin and Snaedĩs went to a restaurant to eat. Assi stayed quiet. She missed time with Loki and wondered if she was in love with him. "No, I couldn't be? Could I? Maybe…he was very kind to me, He is cute though." She thought to herself. "Are you alright?" Scarlett asked, making Assi jump a bit. "Y-yes, I'm fine." She replied, just then, she got a text from Jim. She was still mad at him for not trusting her. She knew that she couldn't ignore him forever. "Are you thinking about Loki?" Scarlett asked. "Maybe. . ." Assi murmured looking at her food. She couldn't get her mind off of Loki. She had to be in love with him. She wanted to be with him. Thinking of that made her happy and brought a smile to her face, but was she really in love with Loki or not? Her feelings seemed real. "No, they're not . . . but they feel real." She said to herself, soon the waiter came over to the table and looked at Assi, "Would you like another soda?" he asked, she nodded and picked her cup up but instead of just handing it to him, she threw it onto the floor, "ANOTHER!" she shouted as the cup hit the floor and shattered, the waiter and her friends stared at her, Assi gasped and turned red. "Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry, I don't know what came over me." She lied because she did know what came over her. but she had a feeling that telling a waiter, that you spend a few days in the Land of the Gods wasn't a good idea, "Oh no, it's alright." He smiled; he was confused because he has never seen anyone throw their cup onto the floor. "I'm so sorry…really, I didn't mean to do that." "Miss. It's alright, really don't worry about it." He said starting to clean the broken glass up. The brunette was embarrassed. He walked away. "What was that about?" Austin asked. "I was in Asgard for a few days…I guess their habits rubbed off on me." Assi answered still embarrassed by it.
The waiter returned with another soda and set it down on the table. "Here you go." "Thank you…and sorry again." "It's quite alright." He promised smiling, she returned the smile, "Let me know if you need anything else." He walked away. Scarlett looked at Assi and smiled as well. "I think he likes you." "You think so?" she asked. "Yep." She nodded, Assi thought about it. The waiter was cute, but she liked Loki, even though there was no chance that she would see him again. "Yeah, but I still like Loki." "Do you think that you'll see him again?" Scarlett asked, Assi shrugged her shoulders because she really didn't know if they would see each other again, she hoped they would, "Loki, that guy who used to come to our Apartment? He's from this Ass-Gard?" Austin asked. "It's Asgard." Snaedĩs corrected. "And yes, he's The God of Mischief, or Fire." She added. Assi looked down at her food but just poked it. she pushed the plate away. "I'm not hungry anymore, I guess I'll just take the rest home." She said then called the waiter over and asked for a to-go box, she knew that it wasn't a lot of food, but she didn't want to waste it.
When they returned home, Assi laid on the bed in her room, still trying to figure out if she truly loved Loki. The more she thought about it, the more it seemed likely that her feelings were real. She fell over backwards onto the bed, closed her eyes, and started dozing off, wondering if she would ever see Loki again. Hoping that she would. and if so, when?
Loki was in his room, reading a book trying to get his mind off of Assi, but it was harder than he thought. That's when he had an idea, that he could see Assi without actually seeing her, or without leaving Asgard. But it's been a while since he's used this spell, he set the book down on the table, then laid down on the bed and closed his eyes, he tuned out all the sounds in Asgard and outside of the palace, he was trying to remember the spell, he was about to cast. He hoped that he would cast it right, because this spell was hard, and one mistake could mess everything up. And that was the last thing he wanted, he also had to make sure that Odin didn't find out that he was casting a dream walking spell, because those type of spells were forbidden, and Loki knew this and knew how much trouble he would get into. But Assi was worth it, he remembered everything, he needed to cast the spell. He pictured Assi in his mind, just hoping that she was asleep because if he didn't then the spell wouldn't work. And he needed it to, but there was one last thing he needed to make sure of, was that he found the right Assi.
