After she set the ball rolling with her post, Elysia began gathering supplies. Some stuff she took from her Grams. Small things she wouldn't notice, like some of the many crystals she had, or herbs from her small garden. Candles, too.
Her dad was rarely home anymore. He came by maybe once a month, if even that. Still, he made sure to give the girls money each time he would visit. He was generous, giving them each one hundred to three hundred dollars. It varied, but was still a pretty high amount for a child.
Bonnie didn't really use hers much. When she did, it was on snacks or cute things like stuffed animals. Elysia didn't know if show Bonnie was similar when she was younger, but her Bonnie had quite the weakness for cute things. If Elysia ever upset her, all she had to do was apologize, give her a hug, and then something cute, like a bear keychain for example.
Worked every time.
Elysia obviously took a different approach with her money. She used it to buy more witchy supplies. Usually things she couldn't sneak from her Grams. She went to this occult shop a town over, usually. Though for the things that would raise a few eyebrows if anyone saw her buying them, she ordered online. The rarer stuff, too. Her Grams wasn't as watchful as the one from the show. At least not yet, anyways.
Elysia figured there must be something in the water supply for there to be so many lax and crappy guardians in Mystic Falls. It was the only sensible reason she could think of.
Elysia had once been out all day, having taken the bus over to that town to go to the occult shop. She didn't come home till around eight or nine, and when she finally did, she'd found Grams passed out on the sofa.
The point is, Elysia was able to gather everything she needed for the daylight ring spell, not that it actually required much other than a ring with a lapis lazuli stone and her magic.
Not wanting to be basic, she expanded her collection to include other types of jewelry, including bracelets, necklaces, anklets, and earrings. She figured a ring was usually the most common, which made it an easy target for hunters or other supernatural beings to discover and destroy.
The last thing she did was set up a bank account for her future assets. It wasn't as hard as one would think. All she had to do was tell her father she wanted somewhere to keep the money he'd given her, and he helped her out with it. With a bit of subtle magic mind manipulation, he also made it where only she controlled the account. He could deposit her money there, but wasn't able to see how much she had or withdrawal any himself.
The point being, she was ready when she finally got a response from Slater. He was really excited about the whole thing, seemingly willing to give her anything she wanted for the chance to walk in the sun.
He bought the classic ring for a whopping two million dollars. She was pretty happy about it herself, and threw in an extra necklace for only two hundred thousand. What can she say? She wanted the money.
Before doing so, however, she gave him a few conditions, which he'd obviously agreed to. One: he would direct other vampires in need her way. Two: he would ween out the truly evil ones first. Three: vampires were only allowed to use what they'd bought for themselves. No passing it along to others or reselling. She was running a business, not a charity.
Then, she kindly reminded him that the person who spelled the jewelry was also the only person able to remove it. Which she would do if her rules weren't followed.
Kinda cutthroat, but she didn't want the vampires getting any funny ideas. Such as capturing her to get her to make them for free. It would not end well.
For the vampire.
While Elysia had that business going on in the background, she also took the time to just be a kid and spend time with her sisters; one by blood, another by bond.
The three girls were closer than ever. There wasn't a day that passed where they weren't together. Taking advantage of this, Eysia gained permission from their respective guardians and got them all enrolled in self defense classes. The parents were all very quick to agree.
She guessed they weren't entirely hopeless.
Caroline took to it very quickly, as she did all things. Bonnie was a bit slower, but also got a hang of it easily. Elysia. Well... she wasn't quite so graceful. She was a naturally clumsy person, sadly, so she had to put in the practice to get as good. It helped that she was starting young, though, because her body was much more flexible than it would have been if she'd started learning as an adult.
Either way, it was something that brought the girls closer together.
Elena had tried to follow suit and join them. She'd overheard them talking, and being the person she was, even as a child, she'd wanted in. Unfortunately for her, she also wasn't the type to put in much work. She'd called it quits after only two sessions.
Which, really, Elysia figured she'd probably end up regretting in the future with the appearance of the supernatural, but that wasn't her business.
And that was how the days passed. Hanging out with Care and Bon, self defense lessons, and magic; whether that be practicing or selling her services.
For a couple years, that was how things went. Elysia learning more and more, her Grimoire growing ever larger.
Until finally, after she and Bonnie had already turned ten, she decided to tell her sister the truth. About absolutely everything. Caroline, too.
She prayed for luck, cause she knew she would need it with the two of them.
So, it's been a while since my last update. Sorry for the wait! Life got a bit busier lately, so I didn't have much time to write. But, here you go! Another chapter! For the wait, I'll try to update again within the week. Next chapter you'll see more dialogue rather than me just telling. Anyways, hope you enjoyed the chapter!
