Chapter 8

It was dawn of the second day of the siege when Aragorn left the keep to stand above the main gates…watching the sun rise.

The Orcs jeered and called for him to come down and bring Théoden with him, but all Aragorn had to say was: "None knows what a new day shall bring him. Get you gone before it turn to your evil."

In response the Orcs blew the gate into pieces. Aragorn just had time to jump off the wall. Running into the inner keep he mounted Brego — and just in time. For as he did Gimli blew the great horn.

He charged out the gate, cutting down orcs as he rode. But then he heard a neigh from a ridge close by. Looking up he saw Gandalf and a host of other men behind him.

The wizard, Éomer, and Éomer's company crashed through the orcs like waves on the beach. The Uruk-hai fled into a forest that had apparently sprung up overnight. Under its eaves they ran…and not a single one returned.
