"HENRY!" screamed Narcissa and Carina at the same time.
"He's gone," whispered Narcissa. "Oh god what will they do to him." Guilt filled her. She was supposed to protect him and instead she'd let him get captured. Her father took her arm and said firmly.
"Firstly, it wasn't yer fault. Secondly, we don't have time fer wallowing. The trident be all that can save him now." Narcissa nodded knowing he was right she couldn't let herself fall to pieces.
"Then let's find it." Said Carina striding to the side of the boat. Narcissa and the rest of the crew all followed suit looking out over the barren island.
"Where is it? It has to be here," she heard Carina mutter flipping through her book. Suddenly the sun came up over the crest of the island lighting it up with thousands of tiny multi-colored pricks of light.
"Look at it, it's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen," said the dark-haired girl. Despite her distress regarding Henry Narcissa smiled.
"That it is."
"This is what my father wanted me to find."
"Rocks?" asked Jack. Narcissa held back a groan. Maybe Jack hit his head when he was battling Salazar.
"No, not rocks..."
"Stars," finished Narcissa. For indeed the island looked like a map of the nights sky in the distance she could spot four pricks of red light that looked a bit like the very star her sister was named for.
"This is what my father wanted me to find, this is the map no man can read."
Narcissa knew that first part wasn't strickly true though she supposed her father had provided Carina with the means to an adventure worthy of their family.
"This island is a perfect reflection of the heavens, but one star is missing," said Carina and indeed one red light was not glowing.
"Hurry we have to find the trident to help Henry!"
"No arguments there," answered Narcissa following Carina and Jack down from the helm. Her father grabbed her arm.
"Narcissa, if yer right about the trident, know I love ye," he told her softly. She smiled at him slightly.
"That was never in doubt daddy." she sighed. "Look after Carina for me." Her father simply nodded in reply.
As Narcissa, Carina, their father, and Jack picked their way through the sparkling rocks Narcissa couldn't help but grin slightly both at her sister's eagerness and the true beauty of the island. After a good deal of walking, they reached a small mound with a ruby center that seemed to be missing a part.
"Why is it not glowing?" asked Jack.
"It's missing a part," answered Narcissa and the reason for the ruby in Carina's journal became clear.
"Finish it Carina," said Narcissa's father holding out the gem. At the dark haired girl's curious expression he added. "It fell out during the battle." Carina took it and nodded.
"For my father."
"Aye, for him," answered Captain Barbossa and Narcissa felt her heart break slightly at the sadness in his voice. Regardless of what was to come he'd better well get a chance to tell her the truth. She added that to the list of things to make sure of as this all came to a head, along with saving Carina, Henry, and defeating Salazar. You know nothing terribly difficult.
Carina placed the ruby in the missing center and the top of the mound lit up red. Beams of red light connected the four ruby beacons forming the constellation, Carina. The ground began to shake and turning they saw that sea itself was beginning to split in two. As the split drew nearer the land of the island also parted. Jack and Carina who were closest to where it opened fell between the crack.
"Carina!" yelled, Narcissa and Hector as the pair disappeared out of sight.
"One of us needs to go after her," said Narcissa as they stumbled to their feet. Her father opened his mouth but she put her hands on her hips.
"Be practical father. I know you'd give your life to protect Carina down there but we both know in this case I'm stronger fighter. Not to mention those two will have been lucky if they got to the bottom without breaking a limb. Not only can I get down there with no risk of that but you don't exactly have any to spare."
Narcissa knew it must be torture for her father to be semi sidelined from the actual action but it was the harsh reality.
"So I'm supposed te stand up here doing nothing while one daughter goes down to face god knows what after the other is already in danger?"
"First of all, to be fair we do have Jack," her father snorted and Narcissa's face softened, "Second of all I'm going to need you back on the Pearl. We'll need a way out and someone's got to command it. Who better than you?"
Her father paused looking conflicted but at last nodded.
"Very well," he answered slightly grudgingly before adding more softly. "Good luck." Narcissa nodded suddenly very aware that this might be the final time she looked upon her father. Sadly there was little time for such contemplations. Her father turned away and Narcissa glanced back down at chasm.
She closed her eyes and imagined herself at the bottom of it. There was a rushing sound as of wind in her ears and all around her. Seconds later her nose was filled with the strong salty smell of the sea surrounding them. She opened her eyes to see two great wall of water creating a long corridor on the sea's sandy bottom.
"Narcissa!" exclaimed a voice behind her and she turned to see Carina and Jack looking slightly incredulous.
"Before you ask. Perks of the Dutchman captaincy. No idea how it works. Glad to see you two in one piece though."
"Why did you come down after us?" asked Carina looking surprised. Narcissa bit her lip tempted to reveal the true reason but also knowing this wasn't the time.
"I couldn't leave you to do this alone. Salazar is coming and there's safety in numbers." She glanced around. "So, this is Poseidon's Tomb." They picked their way through the coral covered floor finally seeing in front of them on a raised mound her bane and her salvation.
"Look its the trident!" said Carina pointing to the glowing green object. The three began to move towards it when suddenly out of nowhere sprang Henry a sword hand. He attacked Jack.
"Henry! What the...!" cried Carina in confusion. Jack now recovered from his surprise was parrying Henry's blows though not attempting to kill him. Suspicion came into Narcissa's mind.
"He's possessed." She said to Carina. Before gesturing to the girl to keep moving towards the trident.
Seconds later Narcissa's guess was confirmed.
"You cut me you cut the boy." Jeered Salazar's voice from Henry's body. Jack went tumbling over a rock as he dodged Salazar's next blow. Salazar turned to move towards Carina and Narcissa jumped in his way.
"Hola Captain," she sneered as they crossed blades.
"You should be dead," he said with a glare that did not suit Henry's gentle face.
"Funny thing about that. You really should make sure that the person you order killed can actually die."
Narcissa dodged and ducked, their swords clashing. Salazar really was good. Yet she was faced with the same problem as Jack. She couldn't actually harm her opponent. She was just trying to figure out some way of knocking Salazar out when a huge burst of see water sent her flying she saw the trident spin away from where it had been standing and become lodged in the sand.
Salazar abandoned their fight to move towards it. Desperately she tried to go after him but had been thrown too far back to be of much use. She was half way after him with Jack in her wake when Salazar reached the trident. She saw him tussel with Carina over it before throwing her back and taking it for himself. As he did so Salazar separated from Henry and she saw her nephew fall to the ground.
"I'll figure out Salazar," said Jack giving her a look of understanding and Narcissa ran to where Carina knelt by Henry's side desperately trying to get him to wake up. From within the watery walls Salazar's crew were making threatening motions.
"Oh piss off," snapped Carina and Narcissa let out a slightly hysterical laugh.
"He's not dead," said Carina As she desperately shook him. Suddenly Henry's eyes flew open and he coughed.
"The power of the sea," he gasped.
"What?" said Narcissa and Carina together.
"The power of the sea, to release the power of the sea..." repeated Henry. Carina and Narcissa glanced at each other as simultaneous understanding blossomed between them.
"All must divide." Narcissa completed.
"If the trident holds all the power of the sea..." added Carina
"Then every curse is held inside," explained Henry.
"Divide," said Narcissa before her eyes widened. "Break the trident and you break every curse."
"Including Salazar's," said Carina and the trio shared a grin. They glanced over and saw that Jack wasn't doing very well. Salazar still had the trident and was using it to throw Jack around in balls of water. Narcissa handed her sword to Henry Salazar having taken the boy's.
"I'll distract him, you come from the other side and break the trident."
"What do I do?" asked Carina.
"Stay back we don't know how the trident will react to being broken." Suddenly not caring if it seemed strange, she hugged Carina.
"Take care of yourself," she whispered in the girl's ear before turning to Henry and grasping his hand.
"Let's finish this." Henry went to the right while Narcissa circled to the left. To his immense credit Jack was still taunting Salazar even as the man moved to impale him. However, this didn't work as by some stroke of luck the point of the trident hit something in Jack's jacket.
Salazar appeared confused knowing he could look to the right at any moment Narcissa called.
"Hey ghostie!" Not her best insult but it worked. Salazar's head snapped to face her just as Henry lunged forward and brought Narcissa's sword down on the head of the trident a great blast threw every one back.
Suddenly within her chest Narcissa felt a strange thumping she had missed for 20 years followed by searing pain she looked down and saw blood coating her shirt where a wound had opened directly on the spot next to her heart where Davy Jones had once stabbed her all those years ago.
Author's Note: Hello all! Sorry this is a week late at the time of posting yours truly caught a cold followed by my laptop needing to be serviced. As there seems to be a bit of confusion Narcissa was concerned about dying because taking on the curse of the Dutchman was what healed her from her fatal wound sustained in the battle of AWE. Take that curse away and it could actually reverse the healing leaving her once again on the brink of death. So basically this whole thing was a potential suicide mission to save her family.
