chapter eighteen insight

Caroline glances at her three daughters sleeping peacefully in their cribs as she stares at them. They're so tiny and fragile and it makes her want to squeal everytime she sees them. She lightly touches Emilia's cheek, as the warmth and light the three radiated was so comforting to her. They were all so tiny.

They were so tiny as the light pink color on their ivory skin as they slept peacefully so clueless to the things around them. They were so small, like a butterfly so fragile yet so beautiful as they grew to become strong, loving individuals.

She would ensure that they get everything in life and much more.

She sighs as her hand gently touches the cold wood of their crib as she moves downstairs where Enzo, Liv, Finn, and Sage had come to join them. How they came so fast, is something she won't understand. Bonnie and Kai were explaining mostly everything to them as she needed a moment of quiet with her girls.

She entered the living room giving them a gentle wave which they returned. Caroline sits down next to Bonnie, "So what have I missed?"

Kai leans back in his seat, "That my crazy psychotic family is trying to kill my apparently little sister, and teamed up with New Orleans witches to end you two which means all of us."

They all glanced at Kai as Bonnie muttered, "Dude, what the hell?"

Kai looked at them in confusion, "What? That is literally what we discussed."

They all rolled their eyes. Caroline had a small smile on her, as she shook her head. Her eyes fell on Liv, "What exactly does your coven want?"

Liv shrugs, "I'm not sure. My father does not say anything, just that the New Orleans witches are very persistent with this."

Caroline nodded as she faced Bonnie, "Okay. But we can not move further until Esther is handled."

Bonnie nodded in agreement as she eyed the eldest mikaelson, "Heard anything from your mother?"

Finn shook his head as she grabbed Sage's hand, "I have not. Though I don't think she has anything to do with this as her sole purpose is to get rid of us."

They all nodded their heads at that. Enzo shook his head, "There is not a single normal family, is there?"

They all snorted at that but it was true. Kai was about to speak when the doorbell rang. Kai winced, "Oh, great is probably the four pissed originals," Kai pointed to Finn, "you're our body guard."

Caroline and Bonnie rolled their eyes at Kai's childish antics. Enzo, Liv, and Sage had an amused look while Finn was confused. Caroline sighs, getting up as the doorbell rang again. Why couldn't she have a normal and peaceful day?

Caroline let out a shaky breath as she opened the door to reveal three pissed originals, as Elijah had an almost proud look on his face. Caroline rolls her eyes as she took a step to the side, "You can all come in."

They enter as Caroline shuts the door, she turns to see the four originals glaring at Finn and Sage. Caroline sighs as she moves to Enzo and Liv, "We can discuss more tomorrow morning."

The two nodded as they mutter a small thank you as Enzo grabbed Liv who let out a squeal flashing her out. Kai glances at Bonnie and Caroline, "You know I ship those two."

Caroline moves around the mikaelsons as she sat next to Bonnie and eyed Kai, "They have alot sexual tenstion."

Bonnie rolled her eyes at them but they would be a cute couple. She faced Kai, "What no protective brother mode?"

Kai snickers at that. Maybe in another life that could have happened but him having any bond with his family was very small. They were the cause of the pain that he had built in him, "Well to be fair she just found her brother alive and not much to work from that."

The three were obvious as the mikaelson eyed them, well more glare at them and Sage had a slight smirk on her face. Sage took out three notebooks handed to the girls as she sat next to Kai, "Here, it was from the witches we told you about."

The two girls nodded as they grabbed the notebook and set it aside. Bonnie sighs doing her best to not glance at the wildest original, "So, what do you four want?"

Kol kept a tight expression on his face. He sighs as he knows a part of him messed up, which is something he hates to admit but this girl really will be the death of him. She is all he can think about and he is not sure if that is a good thing. He narrowed his eyes, "Not funny, Bonnie-lass."

Bonnie glared at him but she stayed quiet regardless of it. She wished they all could start over but a part of her knows there will always be that difference between them. But that does not mean they can not work it out. She glanced at Caroline as she was avoiding Klaus' gaze. Elijah eyed his oldest brother, "What are you doing here, brother?"

Finn shook his head refusing to answer. He stood in front of the others, "Better question is what are you all doing here?"

Klaus and Kol glared at him, not likely one bit that Finn was being overprotective of their girls. Elijah stayed in back observing him as Rebekah brought down her gaze, "We asked first."

Finn did not bring his gaze down. Klaus clench and unclench his fist trying to keep his anger in check. His gaze softened a bit as he faced his blonde girl, who looked so tired. Klaus kept his eyes on her, the little witch, and Kai, "What were you three thinking?"

Caroline leaned back on her seat, not wanting to discuss as all she wanted was to sleep. She shook her head, "Better question is why do you want us in your home, when your mother can enter at any moment?"

Klaus kept his eyes on her, she just did not give up. The fire in her is so captivating. She really tests him at any given chance. He does not know whether to be annoyed or proud. Definitely there is a hint of pride in him, for her not giving up. But he just wants her to trust him, because he will protect her no matter what.

Rebekah narrowed her eyes at the blonde, as she stared at her and Bonnie. A part of her envies them for the bond they have but who knows maybe one day she could be part of that bond as well. She sighs as she does her best to soften her tone, "We promise you all protection."

Bonnie nodded, in understanding as it was the same thing they told them before. Bonnie glanced at Caroline who looked so exhausted and to be fair the girl needed to be on bed rest, not dealing with any of this. Bonnie faced the blonde original, "But why?"

The mikaelsons all glanced at each other, refusing to answer the Bennett witch question. Caroline sat up as the rush of rage went to her body, "What is it?"

Caroline could see the worry and anger in Klaus and Kol's eyes. Rebeakh had this concerned look on her as did Elijah. Caroline kept her eyes straight as they did not react poorly to her making them sleep signaling they really wanted them in their home.

Elijah took a step forward as he faced them all, "We believe our mother is planning something with your children."

Kai sighs as he faces Caroline and Bonnie, "He might be right. The moment those three were born, magic has shifted significantly."

Bonnie let out a shaky breath. She knows, he is right as she felt it when they were born but decides not to think much about it. She shifted her gaze as she repeated a question that she did to Finn beforehand, "Where is your mother?"

Rebekah let out a shaky breath as she gently whispered, "We don't know."

Caroline rubbed her temples in frustration. She does not have time to deal with this. Caroline stood up as she went to the kitchen, grabbed a blood bag and sat down on the stool, drank it peacefully. As thoughts consumed her.

In her defense she was tired, she gave birth just hours ago. Her body was completely exhausted. She folded her arms on the table as she set her head down, with her eyes shut. The question of doubt lingers in her mind.

She prevented the big events that she knew were coming but now she does not know what she is doing and all she can hope is that she guarantees everyone makes it out alive. But all she knew for a fact, is that her daughters come first, regardless of everything.

She lets out a groan remembering her past conversation with Stefan. She has to deal with her friends, Esther who is missing but she has a feeling she is with Elena and the others. Then there is gemini coven and the New Orleans witches that she does not know anything about.

And the icy on the cake someone traveled back in time with her to end her, her daughters, and Bonnie.

Why couldn't things be simple?

She felt someone sit next down to her, she shifted her gaze to see Klaus looking at her. She stood and grabbed another blood bag and handed it to him which he accepted. They sat quietly until Caroline tilted her head, "You still pissed off?"

Klaus bit his tongue, he narrowed his eyes at her. Never did anyone dare talk to him like that but he found himself shaking his head to her regardless. He doesn't think he could ever truly be angry with her. No matter how hard he tries not to act out irrationality, which he usually does but he did not want to scare her away.

Caroline studied him as he was doing his best to calm himself down. She knows he probably is angry at her but she did what she had to do. No one will understand the actions she and Bonnie have to take but in the long shot from now, it will all make sense.

Caroline sighs as she puts her hand on his shoulder as he shifts his gaze at her. She offered him a small smile, "I know you're angry but I need you to be in my shoes. Trust is earned Klaus, not given. Plus I do trust you but this is different."

Klaus gazes into her ocean orbs, seeing her sincerity. He sighs nodding to her, "I know, love. I know."

Caroline smiled at him as she gave him gentle nudges as they all entered the living room. They made their way as they sat next to each other on the couch. Caroline noticed the tension of the room.

But thankfully Kai broke it as he leaned back to his seat as he glanced at the four newcomers, "Quick recap, a bunch of witches from New Orleans and Gemini are teaming up to end us."

"Oh my god," muttered Bonnie as Kai really had no chill. Caroline winced as she glanced at Bonnie who sighs, as she quickly mustered out, "Also someone is trying to kill us, which might not have to do with this at all. We are not sure."

All the mikaelsons including Finn and Sage glanced at them as this was new information they were processing. Kol narrows his eyes clenching his fist at nothing as he eyed his green eyed witch, "What?"

"Is actually a funny story," Bonnie let out a nervous chuckle as she avoided his gaze. Rebekah shook her head at the two carless girls, "Funny how?"

Caroline sighs as she avoids their eyes and quickly musters it out, "Well apparently someone else travels back in time, who we don't know. And they are making it their goal to kill us…"

Klaus felt anger rush in him, not for the girls hiding the information but for the fact their lives are at bigger risk than he originally thought. He sighs as he gently nudges his blonde girl, "You didn't tell us this, because?"

"Because we are not sure and to be fair we didn't find out until later on," she bit her lip ignoring the gaze on her and Bonnie.

Kai sighs as a random thought came to him, is it possible that it was more than one person? Kai eyes the room, "Hypothetically speaking is it possible that it could be more than one person who traveled back?"

A silence fell upon the room as a swirl of questions entered their mind. Bonnie brows furrowed, "No because we would have felt it but what if this really has nothing to do with the three girls but something else?"

Kol caught on quickly, "So, a form of mislead to throw us off."

Caroline stayed quiet as she closed her eyes, hating this. She felt her hand being squeezed, she knew it was Klaus. She gently squeezed back and needed a form of comfort. She opened her eyes staring at him with a smile as she leaned on to him which he gladly let her do so.

Rebekah shook her head in confusion, "Why would they do that?"

Finn eyed his redhead as she fiddled with her fingers, "Unless this has something to do from the past?"

Bonnie's phone buzzed. She took it out quickly and glanced up, "I got a message from Enzo he says that there is a possibility that the gemini coven might have been messed up with a certain spell."

Elijah shook his head as nothing made sense, he narrowed his eyes, "What spell?"

Caroline sighs as she glances at the ceiling, "We are not sure. Something that probably has to do with the prison world."

All the Mikaelson had an confused expression, "Prison worlds?"

Bonnie ignored them as she had her eyes on Caroline and gave a slight nod, "Maybe. But the prison worlds are only known by Bennett witches and the gemini coven."

Kai nodded his head to her in as he eyed them, "The Gemini Coven is the only family of witches that have a pair of twins born to the coven and must participate in the merge, so unless there is goal is to break that curse?"

Bonnie tilted her head, "I doubt that because what would that have to do with us to begin with?"

Caroline glanced at her, "I don't think is about the curse at all is about us, they're blaming us for something. They are not hiding that fact but unless whatever they have planned is something that we don't know."

Mikaelson and Sage shook their heads, not catching on. Klaus stared completely at her, "Want to explain a bit further to us, sweetheart?"

Caroline and Bonnie shared a worried glance because they didn't know anything about the coven. They just wanted to sleep. But thankfully Kai stood up as he looked at all of them.

"I just gave birth hours ago so I'm off to sleep while he explains everything."

"Oh, you don't even know all of it but it all started…"
