(AN) Author's Notes: Hey there everyone how's it going? I decided once again to do another sweet juicy update because my birthday is close to approaching once again and when it does come around on Tuesday ^^. I will hopefully have an extra update for all of you to enjoy as in celebration virtually of my birthday getting a year older. You'll just have to wait and see. Just keep your eyes out and you'll know soon enough when I actively update a new story. And while I'm on the subject there's something I would like to point out to everyone so far watching my story. My and my co-partner really want to hear your output on the story so far we're not seeing many reviews and although reviews aren't everything in fanfiction it is quite encouraging to see any type of comment or criticism welcome here the only kind of criticism that neither I or my co-partner will not allow are flames or complaints. As I've mentioned many times before if this story is not to your liking and if you do not like the way the story is going in the direction it is then you are free to not continue reading the story anymore.
Moving on I would like to reply to the last comment/question made by an anonymous reviewer named Guest 2022: Do not worry about Sarah Williams getting out of the underground you'll find out when the story progresses if she gets to return to her own Earth anytime soon ^^ If I say anymore it would just spoil what future plot that is laying ahead for this story it's still in its infancy.
And to the rest of my reviewers and readers, I and my co-partner are going to say thank you for the reads and reviews. There will be ups and downs of comedy, dark moments, fantasy, and world-building. Enjoy!

Chapter 4: Back in the castle beyond the goblin city.
Sarah opened her eyes to find a ceiling that wasn't hers overhead. Had she been sleeping? She gave a little groan and groggily sat up.
She found herself in an unfamiliar bedroom with austere stone walls. The four-poster bed in which she lay was huge. It was at least a king-sized, and the bedposts were of a bright chestnut wood from which red, velvet curtains hung. Sarah ran the cream-coloured, silken sheets under which she was tucked into through her fingers. It was all slowly coming back to her now.
She had stepped through the mirror, but what happened after that? Her head was foggy like she had just woken up from a long sleep…
Sarah gasped. When she looked down at herself, she was clothed in a light pink, satin gown. The pale skin round her collarbones was exposed as the décolletage hung elegantly off her shoulders. The long sleeves were bustled at the wrists and ended in frills. A hot flush crept up Sarah's neck as she realized someone had to change her clothes for her.
"That brute better have had magicked this onto me. He better not have…" she couldn't finish the thought.
She noticed a window to her right and swung her legs out of bed. A few wobbly steps revealed that the window was really a glass door that opened to a stone balcony. She wandered out onto it, tentative of her surroundings. Her jaw dropped as she beheld the spectacular view before her; she had made it to the Labyrinth. She must be in the castle, but she didn't remember coming here; she didn't remember coming back to the Labyrinth or the Castle Beyond the Goblin City at all. She tried to orient herself. Below her lay a familiar sight of stone spikes, walls, and bridges. Directly below was the Goblin City, and she could see (though not smell, thankfully) the junkyard and bog of eternal stench in the distance. Goblins pattered about below in the city like tiny ants, and on the upper levels, she could see armoured goblins walking about the parapets and courtyards of the castle. For a moment, wonder and nostalgia interrupted her confusion; the Labyrinth was just as beautiful as it had been the first time she saw it.
She snapped out of her reverie to return to the task at hand.
"Ok, I know my whereabouts, now I just gotta get out of here," she said out loud. She was sure the bedroom door was locked, but she checked it anyway. "Damn," she swore; it was indeed locked. Alright, where was her backpack? Sarah looked around for her book bag and for anything else that might help her escape. She turned over all the pillows and sheets, she checked under the bed and again out on the balcony. There weren't many places to search.
The only furniture besides the bed was a thirteen-hour clock that hung on the wall. She sneered at the thing; it was exactly like the one that had appeared when she began her journey through the Labyrinth, like the very clock Jareth had fast-forwarded and deducted time from. She turned from it to search through what appeared to be a closet. She didn't know if the space was intended to be a closet, as it was empty of clothes or coats, but she found her backpack shoved to the back of the space. There was no sign on her clothes she had been wearing when she went through the mirror. Sarah sighed and placed her hands on her hips, slowly walking back out into the room. She was upset that her clothing had been changed without her consent, and now she was upset she didn't have a way out. Why was a change of clothes necessary anyhow? And why was she here in the first place?
A dizzy spell overcame her. She leaned against the nearest bedpost and sat down on the end of the bed. She felt faint and rested her head in her hands, taking a few deep breaths; this was no time to be feeling weak.
"Are we not feeling well, Sarah dear?" echoed a baritone voice throughout the chambers, causing her to sit up straight. Sarah knew that voice. It was a voice that caused her hair to stand on end, a voice that caused her to grit her teeth in anger. The voice of the goblin king. Sarah stood, but held onto the bed post for support. Her eyes scanned the room, looking for the source of that fiendish voice. He was nowhere to be seen, but the voice continued on. "Despite using that spell I gave you, you are still mortal. That little trip through the mirror has taken its toll on both your mind and your body. You must rest."
"I'm fine," she declared defiantly. "I'm just tired from worrying about my friends."
It was all coming back to her now. She remembered the spell and walking through the mirror, but after that blinding light, she couldn't remember anything…wait, she had fallen. It had felt like falling forward, like racing through a tunnel of light, but a strong pair of arms had intercepted her and pulled her out…
Sarah started to panic. She could not be trapped by him. She could not be locked away like some pet. Why did she feel so tired after simply walking through a mirror?
She felt herself faint and her hand slipped from the bedpost. As she lost consciousness, a familiar pair of strong arms embraced her.
Sarah opened her eyes to the same, unfamiliar ceiling. She still lay at the end of the luxurious bed in which she found herself before. Again, she sat up and scanned the room. There was still no sign of the goblin king, but she knew he was there, watching and listening. "Why have you brought me here?" she called out, her voice sturdy and brave despite the dizziness. "And what are your intentions?"
The air in front of her started to shimmer, and the goblin king appeared inches from her. Sarah had seen him like this before in the Escher room, when she had to face her fears and rescue Toby. He wore a wine-red, velvet shirt, and over it was a black, leather vest on which hung that crescent-shaped medallion he always wore. His black, leather leggings left nothing to the imagination, and he was as imposing as ever in his black boots and black gloves.
Sarah scrambled away from his as fast as she could, putting as much distance between them as possible.
"Saraaah," he cooed. "I mean you no harm. Welcome back. The Labyrinth is glad to have you here again." He was grinning, but it wasn't kind; Sarah was not impressed. "I've seen that you've been doing well in your world," he continued, as if this was a conversation between old friends. "Very good. You should be proud of your accomplishments."
"Where are my friends?" she persisted, ignoring his flattery.
"Friends?" he asked in obviously feigned innocence. "I couldn't possibly have a clue as to who you're talking about," he said gesturing towards himself dramatically.
"My friends. Hoggle, and Sir Didymus, his dog Ambrosius, and Ludo."
"Oooooh, that riffraff." He didn't speak further and instead fiddled with his medallion.
"They're not riff-raff," insisted Sarah, "they're my friends. I demand to know what's going on. What could you possibly want this time? I didn't wish anyone away, including myself. I know your tricks and have learned my lesson." Still, he said nothing. "I defeated you and your Labyrinth, and I got my baby brother back in under thirteen hours. I asked you already and I'm not going to ask you again: what are your intentions? Are you going to hurt my friends? Is Hoggle—"
"Sarah."
The king had said her voice quietly and coolly, but command of his tone silenced Sarah. In the blink of an eye, he was standing directly in front of her, teleporting without warning. Sarah stumbled back a few paces, and Jareth countered by stepping forward. She backed up again—hitting the cold, stone wall; there was nowhere else to go. He strode forward and leaned over her, placing one arm above her head. His swagger was more threatening than enticing.
"Sarah, you may have come willingly, and you were 'cordially' invited, as I believe I put it, but let me make one thing crystal clear, pun intended: this is my kingdom. This is my kingdom and you will obey my rules. I have no obligation to explain myself, or my intentions, or any actions during your stay here. However, for the sake of being generous, I will indulge you. In the meantime, let me ask you one thing:
How are you enjoying my Labyrinth?"
A shiver ran up Sarah's spine. She remembered how he had asked her that in the tunnels under the Labyrinth just one year ago. It's a piece of cake, she had said. She would not play his games this time. She kept her mouth defiantly shut and turned her chin up at him. "Hm, fine, as you wish. They are unharmed." He grinned devilishly and added, "At least for now." The threat was not missed by Sarah. He was still leaning over her, getting even closer now. She could practically feel his breath on her face.
"For now, you are my guest and you'll be staying for a while. That's all you need to know at the moment. You can ask me more questions tonight when you join me for dinner." He smirked; he was toying with her. He knew that she would have no choice but to join him if she wanted her questions answered.
"I suggest you rest." His eyes were perusing her body, travelling up and down her now. Sarah tried not to show any fear, but she did nothing to hide her disgust. "You look tired. You should be refreshed for later when we…talk."
When Sarah blinked, he had disappeared; not even a speck of glitter was left behind. Sarah stomped her foot and mumbled, "It's not fair." She peeled herself away from the wall and kicked at the air. "Oh, what choice do I have? I might follow his lead for now, but he's in for a surprise." She stood up straight.
"He has no power over me."
(AN) Author's Notes: The outfit that the Goblin King in this chapter wears is the same one he wore in the musical number within you when Jareth was defying gravity and confusing Sarah when she was running around in the Escher Room. As you know and probably have seen the 1986 movie as many times as you can count the fingers on your hands the goblin king had a costume change at least eight times within the movie. There were eight different costumes that he wore each more spectacular than the last. In the 1986 movie, the late David Bowie played the main character the Goblin King wore at least eight distinctive outfits. It could not have gone unnoticed by Labyrinth fans no matter how many times the movie was watched. Since Jareth is supposed to be portrayed as some type of fae it makes sense that he can conjure almost any type of clothing he would like to wear. I find that all eight of the outfits that were worn in the movie should be re-worn and seen more often within this story. Now haven't been active on my deviantART account in a while I'm trying to work at adding some additional outfits that would hopefully become befitting to Jareth's created character.
Right now my co-partner is the only one that got a sneak peek at least at the attire or dress-up lineup for Sarah Williams trust me when I say this Sarah Williams doesn't have to worry about her clothing while she is staying in the underground. I have plans and intentions to have Sarah wear plenty and have an unlimited amount of clothing but sadly they're all going to be dresses, so no pants for Sarah. At least not while she was residing in the underground and beyond. I have my reasons for this it's so that she blends in well with the locals it doesn't stand out like a sore thumb. If you're not happy with the fact I'm not adding any pants for Sarah while she is not back on earth in this story then you're free to read a different story elsewhere. While Sarah Williams is residing within the underground and other realms that are located where she's currently located she's going to wear fairytale maiden-type dresses that are going to range from fancy, casual and moderate. I made this the most practical decision since Sarah is now in a fantasy-like world it only makes sense that she blends in according to the attire worn there. I'm not against women wearing pants in general or even shorts or leggings or even capris but there's a reason why I'm keeping Sarah and dresses for the most part of the story.
Another thing I want to make clear to readers if I haven't already is that the relationship between Sarah and the goblin King will not be a happy reunion. I want to keep their relationship practically the same as it was portrayed in the movie. Now it's quite obvious given my point of view and other Labyrinth fans that the King has hinted and shown to care for Sarah or even be in love with her but, of course, Sarah won't believe this and she hasn't exactly forgiven and forgotten all the obstacles and things the king did to prevent her from getting further into the Labyrinth into the centre of the castle of the city. There was never any indication in the movie that Sarah recuperated or appreciated anything the Goblin King did from the beginning of the movie to the end of it.
Sarah never even appreciated to anything to everything the goblin king said or claimed he did for her. As far as I know and was told from Sarah's perspective despite what the Goblin King thought he was doing being generous and benevolent to her. Sarah Williams saw nothing but a villain for everything he did. The way Jareth has put a lot of obstacles in Sarah's way to prevent her from getting to rescue her baby half-brother Toby in time before the clock struck thirteen. And of course some of those obstacles we're not exactly something you can forgive and forget. So don't expect Sarah to open up to Jareth and close the gap between them anytime soon. It's going to take a lot of time, hard work, and trust in Sarah to even see the king in any good light. Plus the relationship that was left in the movie was remained ambiguous with a lot of question marks a lot of fans speculated that the king only claim to be having feelings for Sarah as a last-ditch effort so that she wouldn't say the keywords before the clock struck thirteen but given at least two or three songs that were sung throughout the movie especially the last one titled within you it is hinted that the king did truly have feelings and affection for Sarah. He didn't retaliate or seek vengeance when Sarah defeated him and his Labyrinth.
I want to keep it that way for a while because if I didn't it just wouldn't be Sarah Williams or Jareth the Goblin King. I have seen way too many stories on this website where Sarah immediately admits very quickly that she has feelings for Jareth. Sometimes even the king's own feelings get misinterpreted for a darker interpretation of lust or just wanting to dominate. How he was shown in the manga adoption was more or less like a sore loser that needed to control Sarah he was in love with her but still his methods for wanting to claim Sarah was quite wrong and not exactly a human right point of view. In the manga, Jareth was also shown to be more selfish and didn't care that he had to use a teenage Toby to get what he wanted in to complete his goals he even used Toby as a means for a loophole to escape the bargain he once had with Mizumi the queen of cups so that she wouldn't have claim over him. He even had a backup plan despite his magic powers fading away keeping some of them stored in a crystal in the human world when he came back to get Sarah. Very ingenious if you ask me but at the same time very wicked and becoming of his selfish character even Moppet called them out on his selfishness in the last chapter in the volume of the manga when he could care less about the Goblin Kingdom and everyone within it crumbling or withering away into nothingness all he cared about was his new world he was creating with Sarah under his spell making her sort of forget all the dreams she wants to be had and everything else including her loved ones and family and friends.
You can be sure that it'll be some time in the story and a lot of work needs to be done before Sarah even admits that she might have feelings for the king I mean given the way his attitude was shown throughout the movie I don't think Sarah quite got the message that the king probably truly did fall in love with her. I like to expand on how that could have possibly been in the story to give more background to how the so-called Goblin King fell in love with him or he'll teenage girl. It's something to look at since the relationship in the movie was left quite ambiguous to at the beginning and end.
TTFN.
