"The Alphas killed someone.", Scott rushed up to me with Isaac and Stiles by his side.
"It's not the Alphas!", Stiles denied.
"I'm confused, are there more alphas?", I asked.
"The twins.", Isaac answered. I raised my eyebrows. "The new twins?" They nodded. "Tall and blond? Those twins?", they nodded again.
"What the hell…", I muttered. "Who'd they kill and why am I just being told this?"
"I-I just know. It was them. They also attacked me during cross country this morning and—and we fought them. They killed some kid.", Isaac rushed.
"What Isaac means is we found him like the others. He was tied to a tree, throat slashed, blood everywhere, the whole nine yards.", Scott explained.
"That doesn't exactly sound like werewolf behavior, though….", I mumbled.
"Thank you!", Stiles exclaimed.
"That's not the point, the point is that they killed someone.", Isaac said. We all stopped in the hallway as Scott rummaged through his locker.
A sudden wave of nausea washed over me but I shook my head, fighting it. Maybe I ate something bad.
"Okay so maybe they did or maybe they didn't kill the kid. This is, like, the fourth body. What if he was a virgin?", I asked.
"The kid had to be a virgin. The last three were, so it's a link.", Stiles said.
"So it's some sex crazed killer...", I say, disturbed.
"Anybody could be next.", Scott said. I sighed, scratching the back of my head. "Welp, I guess we're next, huh?"
"Uh, no! Stiles needs sex! Right now!", my best friend whined. I shook my head. "Stiles."
I sighed, pointing at Scott and Isaac. "Try not to kill any of the twins or at least don't get on their bad side!"
"No promises.", Isaac grumbled, walking away. I looked at Scott. "Keep an eye on him please."
Later on, Scott informed me about a plan him, Allison, and Isaac had created to get the Alphas in trouble.
I was told to go sneak a few tools from the woodshop class that could be used to take apart and put back together a bike.
I easily snuck out with the tools but before I could even move throughout the hallway, my body felt like it was on fire. Right in the middle of my core, in fact.
I started sweating from the blistering pain and rushed into a bathroom. Throwing my bag off of my shoulders, I ran to a sink feeling hot all over. I looked at my face and saw my eyes rimmed with red.
What the hell was happening…? I turned on the water, splashing my face with the cold liquid before sinking to my knees. It felt like someone was jabbing at my back. All the way to my chest. It was overwhelming.
I felt hard pricks at different places of my body and it was killing me. I heard someone's voice and looked up to see Scott rushing over to me. "What's going on?", he urged. I shook my head, unable to get a word out as I trembled in pain.
Scott brought me into his arms, taking my hand and I watched as his veins turned black. My body immediately relaxed from the pain and I panted softly.
"Wh-What was that?", I asked. "Are you okay? Should I call Derek?", he asked. I looked at him in confusion. "For what? Let him be. Cora's with him. They need some time together."
Scott sighed and helped me up. "The twins didn't touch you, huh?", he asked, looking me over. I shook my head in confusion. "No, why?"
"You sure you're okay?"
I nodded. He looked me over once more and sighed, leading me out so we could get to work.
Scott and I sat down beside the twins as Ms. Blake wasn't even paying attention. I turned around in my seat to see Scott smirking at the twins, who fumed in their seats.
I held back a laugh. Scott reached into his backpack and took out a couple metal pieces of Aiden's bike and placed it on his desk.
"That looks kind of important.", Scott said, reaching in his bag for another piece.
"I have no idea what this thing does, do you Sam?", Scott wondered.
"Nope, but whatever it does could probably be fixed with these.", I muttered, taking out a wrench, screwdriver, and hammer, passing them on Scott's desk.
In the hall, the engine of Aiden's bike could be heard. Aiden jumped out of his seat and sprinted out of the class.
"Wait, Aiden, don't!", Ethan called after his brother. Ms. Blake looked around beyond confused.
We could hear the bike engine running and Aiden finally screaming at Isaac to get off his bike. The whole class got up out of their seats and rushed outside into the hallway, Ms. Blake trailing behind. Scott and I were one of the firsts out of the room to see Isaac quickly jogging towards us. I gave him a grin as he stood beside me, innocently.
"You've got to be kidding me!", Ms. Blake shrieked, pushing her way out of the surprised yet amused students. "You realize this is going to result in suspension.", she scolded the twin. Aiden stood there bewildered at her accusation while Isaac and I gave each other fist bumps.
Ms. Blake let class out early after the whole motorcycle incident and because of that, I felt no need to go home early so I went to Derek's to see how the sibling bonding was going.
After arriving, I took an elevator up to Derek's loft. I walked in, smiling. "You should've been there, Der—" I stopped as I saw Derek lying in a pool of blood with a metal pipe covered in blood near him.
I rushed over to him. "What the hell happened?", I asked, crouching near him, not sure where he's hurt at.
"Get out.", he groaned.
"What? No! What the hell happened?", I pressed.
"Now.", he growled. My eyes widened in realization. "They were here, weren't they? Deucalion? Are you even healing?", I rushed.
"Slowly.", he rasped. I helped him sit up. "I got you.", I say. "I got him.", I hear, looking up as a girl with light brown hair was pulled up in a messy ponytail, and her brown eyes were fierce. She was dressed in a pair of sneakers, black sweatpants, and a black Nike sports bra.
She stormed over to us with a bottle of water in her hand. "Cora?", I asked, in realization. She rolled her eyes. "Yeah. Who the hell are you?"
"A friend of your brother's. You probably don't remember chasing us down the other night.", I say before turning to Derek. "Why aren't you healing any faster?", I asked.
"I don't know.", he panted. He shook his head. "You need to get out."
"You haven't given up trying to push me away, yet? It doesn't get old?", I scoffed dismissively, helping him to his bed.
I sat him down and stood by him as his eyes fluttered.
"Please just leave.", he weakly begged.
"Derek, what happened?", I pressed. His eyes looked into mine, conflicted and frustrated.
Derek explained everything Deucalion said and did. Deucalion was going to force Derek to kill one of his own, which also included me.
He needed to get rid of everyone close to him as soon as possible and it upset me. It was like Peter all over again. It started storming as he finished healing, and looked outside his window.
Before I could say my piece, the front door opened and Isaac walked through.
"Hey Derek.", he greeted. Derek didn't face Isaac. In fact, he stayed in that same area since he explained what happened, and ended up drowning himself in whatever he could drink.
"You need to leave.", Derek said. Isaac blinked a few times before letting out a chuckle.
"What?", his beta asked.
"You heard me, you need to leave. Get out.", Derek ordered. "Is this about the tw—"
"No.", Derek cut him off.
"Okay, I—I don't get it.", Isaac leaned against a column, "Well did something happen?"
"It's just not going to work with both of you here. I've got Cora now. It's too much. I need you out tonight.", Derek pressed.
Isaac laughed incredulously and looked around. "Where am I supposed to go?"
"Somewhere else.", Derek harshly said.
Isaac's smile fell. "Did I do something wrong, Derek?"
"You're doing something wrong right now by not leaving.", Derek turned around and pointed to the door in anger.
"Oh come on.", Isaac rolled his head and walked forward.
"Just get out.", Derek demanded. "Get out."
"Come—"
"Go!" Derek screamed, throwing the glass in his hand at Isaac. Isaac ducked, shielding his face, so the glass hit the column behind him.
I flinched, freezing as I looked at Isaac's flinching form. Isaac stood there for a second, taking in what just happened. Conflicted, he turned around, grabbing whatever he could and left.
Derek was leaning against the table in the main room. He looked angry, and he wasn't even looking at me. His eyes were closed. I glanced at him, pissed now. "The fuck is your problem? Seriously, does not explaining shit take too much of your time?"
"You wanted hardass Derek, you got it.", he glared at me. "You didn't have to do him like that!", I combatted, storming up to him. "Hell, yell at me, fuss at me, throw bottles at me, but you had no reason to do that to him. The whole point of you biting him in the first place was because of the shit his dad was doing and you just reminded him of that!"
"How do you know that?", Derek asked.
"Mr. Lahey wasn't as subtle about his abuse as he thought he was. I know abuse when I see it and it is not something you play with.", I glared.
"Leave, Sam.", Derek pushed.
"No. I'm not leaving. You can do this brooding shit all you want, but it's not gonna get me to leave you."
"You all are going to end up dead if you stay."
"We won't. Stop pushing us away.", I argued.
"You don't get it, Sam! You don't get it!", Derek roared, storming up to me. "This isn't shit like Peter or Kate, Gerard, or Matt, or even the Kanima! This is worse than what we've been through and you're not even considering it! We'll be lucky if one of us make it out of this alive! We won't if you stay. Not Scott. Not Isaac. Not me. Not you."
"So you're just giving up? That's not something an alpha does.", I say, not letting him have another word before I gave him space to calm down.
I walked over to my car, closing the door from the pelting rain as I got a call from Stiles. I answered. "What happened?", I asked.
"The music teacher and Harris are missing.", he informed. I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose.
"Missing or dead?", I asked.
"Dead. Presumably."
"Then this isn't a virgin sacrifice.", I say. These were adults. Now there isn't a link.
"It's not. They were all involved with the military. Harris, Kyle, even the music teacher all had service connections.", Stiles said.
My eyebrows furrowed, "And that means what?"
"They were military sacrifices. Warriors. Three of them."
"It's not a link at all then. It's a pattern." I glanced at the loft building before me. I had to tell him.
"I know where they are!", Scott announced as he slid the front door to Derek's loft open. Derek, Peter, Cora, Boyd, and I circled around the loft table looking at a map.
"Same building as the Argents. We know.", Derek said. "Cora and I followed the twins."
"Then they want you to know.", Scott realized.
"Yup.", I said.
"What is this?" Scott walked up to the table, trying to figure out what we were doing.
"Or more likely they don't care.", Peter suggested.
"Isn't it obvious? The schemers are scheming. Coming up with a coup de main, better known as a pre-emptive strike."
"You're going after them?", Scott asked, surprised.
"Tomorrow. And you're going to help us.", Derek crossed his arms over his chest. "They're one floor above in the penthouse. Right above Allison.", Derek informed.
"So kill them first? That's the plan?", Scott asked.
"They won't even see it coming."
"Yeah, like they won't be able to see him coming a mile away.", I rolled my eyes.
"Why is the default plan always murder? Just once can someone try to come up with something that doesn't involve killing everyone?", Scott asked, exasperated.
"Don't you ever get tired of being so blandly moral?", Peter asked.
"Not everyone likes to be a murderer, Peter.", I say.
"Not that I don't disagree with you, Scott.", Peter turned towards Derek with a smile.
"Well I do.", Cora said. "Why do we need this kid? In fact, why do we need both these kids?"
I looked at her with an offended look. "I'm sorry, are we not the same age?"
"These kids helped save your life.", Derek reminded with raised eyebrows.
"I see the thank you is still pending.", I crossed my arms, leaning against the table.
"And you," Derek glared at Scott, "know we can't just sit back and wait for them to make the first move."
"We can't beat a pack of Alphas." Scott agreed.
"That's why we're going after Deucalion. Just him." Cora smiled.
"Cut off the head of the snake and the body dies.", Boyd nodded.
"The snake isn't not gonna fight back, though.", I say. "Which is why we need a better plan than just rushing in and killing."
"No one asked you.", Cora argued.
"Wasn't talking to you. Pipe down.", I countered.
The boys stayed quiet as they watched us argue.
"Leave, no one wants you here.", Cora growled, her eyes quickly glowing gold.
I uncrossed my arms, standing straight. "You might wanna watch yourself.", I challenged. "We still saved your fucking life. That Deucalion shithead could've made you his next thing to kill just because, if it wasn't for us. And by the way, you're welcome."
She growled at me and I glared back at her.
"Alright. You can have your little cat fight later.", Peter sighed. "The thing is, this isn't a snake. This is a hydra. And like Scott and Sam said, they're all Alphas."
"Deucalion's still the leader.", Derek says.
"Let's hope so. Because do you know what happened when Hercules cut off one of the heads of the hydra?", Peter asked Derek.
"Two more grew back in its place.", Scott remembered.
"Somebody's been doing their summer reading.", Peter smiled.
"Are we not concerned about being beaten in our own territory or what?", I asked, sitting back down on the table.
"And that's why we're doing something about it.", Derek sighed.
"You're just egging them on. If you all really want to get hurt, this is one way to do it. Just put it off for a few more days."
The next few hours and the three stooges went to deal with the Deucalion. Irresponsible on their part but they couldn't be alone.
I sighed, reluctantly arriving at the Argent residence and saw Allison, already ready to go.
She frowned once she saw me. "You came to tell me?"
"Seems you already knew.", I say and turned to get in my car.
"Sam?", Allison called and I turned to see her look down at her feet, and back at me. "Scott told me everything. I'm sorry."
I quirked my lips, unsure but for the sake of her boyfriend, I forgave her. For now. "Me too.", I say.
"What will it be Derek? Pack or family?", Kali taunted the older brother. Cora cried out in pain as Kali pressed down on her throat with her clawed feet.
She gave a small smile and we got ready to head for the boys.
Derek looked from Cora to Boyd and back again. I looked at Allison and motioned my head towards the twins.
Allison shot off the first arrow and it hit the twins, throwing them back, splitting them in two. I used their shadows to yank themselves from under their feet, knocking them down.
She hit another towards Kali that ended up flying a short sparkler on the ground mere feet from her.
"Your eyes! Cover your eyes!", Deucalion ordered. At first it looked like we were winning, but then I watched Ennis and Scott charge at each other. The Deucalion's attention focused on Scott, who slid away from Ennis.
Derek sent punches from Ennis, while Ennis took one shot and clawed Derek right through his stomach and chest.
Scott and Ennis began fighting again, Scott, broken and torn, managed to help Derek and run up behind Ennis and ended up slashing the back of his leg.
Ennis stumbled, not letting go of Derek. My eyes widened as I realized what was happening. Ennis was gonna take Derek down with him.
That he did, as they fell to their deaths.
"Derek!", I screamed, rushing to the edge of the platform. Allison grabbed me and pulling me back as I watched the smoke below swallow Derek. This wasn't supposed to happen.
Derek worried about us getting killed and he ended up being killed…
I couldn't sleep. I couldn't eat. I couldn't tell mom what happened. Just yeh thought of eating made me nauseous.
Afraid of closing my eyes for even a moment, I was scared to see Derek falling again and again. Unfortunately, Mom took note of my sudden drastic behavior in the house since she's been off of work recently.
She sat me down at the dining table. "What's been going on with you?", she asked me. I shrugged. I couldn't tell her that I watched someone I cared about die right in front of me. There was so much she didn't know.
The thought of telling her I had gotten bitten and suddenly got powers was crossed off the list. It wasn't happening. If anything, it made me more nauseated with fear to even utter the words.
"Sam.", she pressed and I glanced at her. She looked at me with a sad expression and it made me tear up instantly.
"What's wrong?", she cooed, concerned and I let out a sob. "It's my fault.", I cried as she took me in her arms. I couldn't explain. She wouldn't understand. No one would. They'd have to see it to believe it.
Our last conversation wasn't even a conversation... We argued. That was the last thing I wanted. I had to live with that.
I didn't even get to tell her what I tried to say. I cried myself to sleep before I could. I heard my phone ring and sigh as I picked it up.
I groaned as I looked at Peter's name pop up on my phone. I reluctantly answered it. "What, Peter."
"Well, hello to you too.", I hear. "Peter, I'm not in the mood.", I rubbed my face.
"Go get dressed and meet Cora and I.", he said.
"For?", I asked.
"To look for clues. Derek and Ennis' bodies aren't there.", he said. I wasn't gonna have my hopes up. Derek walked away one good time. I doubted he could do it again.
"Peter, I don't wanna play detective. Do that with Stiles."
"There's a possibility Derek's still alive.", he urged, quickly. I took a deep breath through my nose.
"If his body isn't here, it's a possibility he's still alive.", he says.
"Where do you want me to meet you?", I rolled my eyes.
I sighed as I got out of my car to see Cora and Peter in the back parking lot of Deaton's hospital.
I may not have liked Cora at the moment, but how was she even feeling?
Peter noticed me, giving me a short smile. "You look a little worse for wear."
"Why are we here?", I asked, pocketing my fists.
"I'm asking the same thing. An animal clinic?", Cora asked, confused.
"It's not as ordinary as it looks.", Peter said.
"Deaton saved me after you bit me. Doesn't sound like an animal doctor now does it?", I ask, rolling my eyes.
"The building's half made out of mountain ash. I'm not actually sure how to get in.", he says.
"You don't. That's why you weren't able to before.", I reminded.
"Maybe we can do what normal people do and knock on the door.", Cora said. Peter stopped her from walking forward. He concentrated for a second.
"They're here.", Peter said.
"Who?", Cora and I asked simultaneously.
"All of them.", he grimly replied and my eyebrows furrowed.
"Ethan's on the cross country meet with Scott, Stiles, and Isaac. And as far as we know Ennis is "dead". So who's the rest?", I asked.
"There are five heartbeats.", he said.
"Okay, Deaton is one. Then who's the other 4?"
"It's slow, lethally slow."
"Ennis or Derek.", Cora realized.
"Which one?", I asked her uncle.
"H-how do we know if it's Derek or Ennis?", Cora pushed.
"Or both?", I asked. Suddenly, the door swung open and all three of us ducked behind the car. A frustrated Kali came storming out with Aiden on her tail. The she-wolf ran a frustrated hand through her dark hair and let out a roar while Aiden tried to control her. Car alarms began going off.
"I know one thing. That wasn't for Derek.", Peter grabbed both Cora and my wrist and led us out of Deaton's.
I felt the lump in my throat come back again. I tried taking deep breaths, but it was harder to do as we escaped.
"Hey," Peter tried to calm me, which in a weird way, did comfort me a little. "He kept telling me to go...", I whimpered. "Samantha.", Peter's eyebrows furrowed and he held my arms.
"Why are you so upset about this? It's not like he was your brother!", Cora growled. I looked at her, frustrated.
She didn't even reply. Even Peter looked a little ashamed.
"What–? Why shouldn't I be? This entire time— you—", I took a breath. "A lot of shit has happened while you were gone and this entire time you've been nothing but pissy every chance you can get. He's gone through so much while you were gone doing who knows what. I was the one who was with him while Kate Argent tortured us for two whole days. I helped keep him alive and floating while he was paralyzed in a pool. I was here while he," I pointed a finger over to Peter, "beat Derek until he was almost unconscious. Not once were you even concerned."
I stormed up to Cora, frustrated and furious at her behavior and insensitivity. "You attacked your brother and you chased after us and tried to finish the job and that's fine with you? Are you serious?"
I shook my head. "I-I don't know. I'm upset because he's my friend. He's someone I cared about and relied on and I probably shouldn't have, but— I don't know!", I exclaimed.
She shook her head, looking away from me while Peter looked at me with a slight sad expression. I didn't even know he could be sad.
"I'm too tired to argue. We came here for no reason. Derek's dead. I'm gonna move on…", I say, backing away and getting to my car, pulling out of the lot and straight home.
The moment I got into my room, my stomach turned. I rushed into my bathroom, instantly emptying my stomach into my toilet. Crap couldn't express how I feel.
I was vulnerable. I was alone.
That was a complete waste of time. I should've been on the bus with Stiles and Scott. Cross Country didn't sound so bad now. I was too tired to do any type of moving anymore.
I didn't have to be though. After cleaning myself up, I packed a bag, filling it with overnight clothes as I left the house once more and headed down to the motel Scott, Stiles and Isaac stayed for the night.
I looked at the motel in front of me. The Motel Glen Capri was lit up in bright neon's. This was where the cross-country team was staying.
It was in the middle of the desert and the place itself looked deserted. What was Coach thinking when he picked this place…
I found the door that had Stiles' voice erupting from the outside. He was so loud but it was welcoming.
I knocked on the door. The door swung open seconds later, revealing Stiles. He looked surprised to see me, but the surprise washed over with a smile.
"Hey.", he said, giving me a tight hug and bringing me inside.
"Hey.", I greeted, hugging him back. Scott got up to hug me as well and he let me set my stuff down. "I'm gonna go shower and we'll talk, yeah?", I say and the boys nodded, giving me my space.
Stiles let me know where to find the towels for a bath and I went to the front desk. It was empty and it smelled of old cigarettes and dust.
I turned around and jumped at the sight of Coach Finstock. I was caught.
Shit.
He took his stupid whistle and blew it in my face. I flinched, ready to cover my ears. "Wilson! What are you doing here?", he yelled. I pulled at my earlobe, trying to get my hearing back. "I was trying to get towels…", I say.
"No! What are you doing here? Here in this hotel. Now.", he asked. Oh.
"Coach, I was literally on the bus. I sat right next to Scott and Stiles.", I lied. He seemed to take it.
"Next time, be more prepared!", he yelled, blowing his whistle again and I coughed at the feel of dust entering my lungs.
How dusty is this place…?
He walked out and I sighed as I turned to the front desk, frowning to see towels.
Did he leave them here…?
Welp. More for me. I snatched the towels and walked out of the room, back to the one Stiles and Scott were staying in.
When I got back, Scott and Stiles were gone. Where the hell could they have gone…? I remembered Isaac was here too. Makes sense if they went to go see him.
I walked to my bag, got fresh clothes and walked to the bathroom. Shutting the door behind me, I set my necessities down and sigh as I looked in the mirror.
I looked like shit. That was probably an understatement. There wasn't a thing anyone could do or tell me to relieve this pressure in my chest.
It felt like someone was stepping on me with a heavy boot.
I sighed as I turned on the water to wash my face. The cool water kinda felt good. I didn't know how hot my face had gotten. Was I running a fever again?
"You killed Derek.", I hear a voice whisper. It didn't sound like any of the voices I knew. I stopped splashing the water in my face and looked in the mirror to see a haunting expression of my reflection staring back at me.
Flinching, I fell backwards, backing up to the wall behind me. The reflection looked at me with a head tilt. Her eyes were black, her lips darkened in purple almost as if oxygen was completely taken out of her body.
"You killed Derek.", she croaked. This had to be a hallucination. Like that hallucination I saw when I visited Lydia. It had to be.
The reflection shrieked. "You killed Derek!"
I flinched at the shrill scream, covering my ears. "I did— I didn't…", I whimpered, tearing up.
Maybe I did. I should've stopped him and Scott from leaving. I should've known they were gonna go after the Deucalion. I should've known.
"But you didn't. You let him fall to his death. You could've saved him but you didn't. You watched him die. You killed him.", she croaked.
I lifted my head to hear water running in the tub next to me. The tub was filling. I didn't turn it on…
This isn't a hallucination.
"You killed him and there's only one way you can see him.", the reflection suddenly smiled. I looked up at the mirror. "I can? I can see him again?"
She nodded, looking over at the filling tub. Suddenly, I felt like accepting this. I felt numb again, like how I felt going to the woods that night.
He saved me then. He saved me. So many times. I owe him so much.
I walked over to the tub, looking at my rippling reflection. "You have to do it. Derek's waiting.", I hear.
I climbed into the tub, not caring about my soaking clothes as I let the water fill over my face. It felt peaceful. I don't know what I was talking about with Ms. Morrell. It's… okay.
I closed my eyes, feeling myself drift in the water.
Suddenly my chest felt like it was on fire. "Sam!", I heard Stiles' muffled voice cry. "Wake up, please!", he yelled.
I lurched awake, coughing up every speck of water from my body. I gripped onto an arm, gasping for air.
I turned to see Stiles' fear stricken face as well as Lydia and Allison's.
"What did you do…?", he asked, softly. I looked up at him, my eyes filling with tears again, realizing what was happening. His eyes were shiny with tears as he stared at me in disbelief. "I just… I couldn't—", I whimpered before crying in his shoulder.
He wrapped his arms around me tight, afraid of letting me go again. "I'm sorry.", I croaked.
We stayed like that for a while, not realizing Allison had left.
My eyes opened to Allison's voice.
"I can't find Scott anywhere.", Allison alerted. We automatically got up as we left the room, looking around for my friend.
Then I smelt it. The smell of gasoline. My eyes saw a shiny red light as I saw Scott's familiar silhouette. They all got quiet once they noticed what I was looking at.
Scott was standing near the bus, dripping in gasoline and holding a flare in his hands. His eyes were glued on the ground and an empty gasoline tank sat in a puddle of its own fluid beside his feet. His face streaked with tears and sorrow.
"Scott.", Allison said. We all walked towards him. He was going to kill himself too…
"There's no hope.", Scott muttered.
"What do you mean, Scott? There's always hope." Allison's voice cracked.
"Not for me. Not for Derek.", he said. My heart dropped.
"Derek wasn't your fault.", Allison shook her head.
"He was mine.", I say, placing a hand on my chest as we cautiously step towards him. "Okay? I should've stopped him. You didn't do anything to cause that."
"Every time I try to fight back it just keeps getting worse. People keep getting hurt. People keep getting killed.", he whimpered.
"Scott, listen to me, okay? This isn't you. Alright, this is someone inside your head telling you to do this. Okay? Now—", I start but he cuts me off.
"What if it is? What if it is just me? What if doing this is actually the best thing that I can do for everyone else?", he asked, his eyes shiny with tears.
My own filled with tears as I shook my head. "Scott. Please. Don't."
"You've lost everything because of me. It all started that night. The night I got bitten. Do you remember the way it was before that? You, me, and Stiles….we were nothing. We weren't popular, we weren't good at lacrosse, we weren't important. We were no one. Maybe I should just be no one again. No one at all.", Scott said and I glanced at Stiles. His own eyes were shiny as well.
"Scott, just listen to me, okay?" Stiles slowly started walking forward, "you're not no one. Okay? You're someone. Scott, you're my best friend. Kay? And I need you. Scott, you're my brother. Okay, so—" Stiles finally took a step into the pool of gasoline, "if we're going to do this, I think you're going to have to take me with you then." Stiles wrapped his hand around the flare.
"No matter what happened Scott, you're still my best friend…my brother. You're going to have to take me too." I stepped up to the two.
"I told you, you're gonna have to fight hard to get rid of us.", I say. "Long and hard, yeah? We're not leaving you."
I grabbed Scott's free hand, tightly gripping it in mine. Stiles looks at Scott, then to me, then to the flare.
Finally, Stiles chucked it behind him and away from Scott. Scott continued quietly crying, and I rubbed the back of his hand with my thumb. "It's okay.", I say.
The next thing I knew I could hear Lydia screaming 'no' at the top of her lungs as our bodies hit the ground.
Something had exploded. We didn't move until it died down. I panted softly as I saw the bus was maintained but the ground next to it had a scorch mark on the side.
"Is everyone okay?", Scott asked, the last of his tears falling down his face.
We all nodded our tear stained faces. Allison and I looked at each other and she engulfed me in a hug. We all got up, seeking refuge in the bus and slept there after getting changed into warmer clothes.
"He's alive, you know.", I hear. My eyes opened to see everyone else still asleep. I didn't wanna get my hopes up.
He fell two stories. No one's gonna survive that, werewolf or not.
"I didn't sense his death. He's alive.", the pale woman whispered to me. My eyes widened. Now that I think about it. I didn't either.
The next morning, I followed behind the bus that led back to Beacon Hills and I immediately took a different trail to Derek's loft.
I felt nervous as I walked up to the building. He had to be alive. He just had to.
As I went up to his door, I yanked it open to see him sitting on the edge of his bed. I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding. His eyes snapped up to mine and relaxed.
I placed my hands on my knees, letting out a sob as I instantly felt like tons of weight had lifted off of my body before I ran to him, tackling him in a hug. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry," I blubbered, as he held me in confusion.
"I'm okay.", I hear him say over my sobs in his shoulder.
