Team Miraculous was on a nearby rooftop, watching the police put Ferris Boyle in a police car along with Penguin, but Victor was put in an armored van due to the size of his suit. Ladybug had requested that Victor had to be kept at subzero temperatures or else he would die.
"I'm sure all of them will face consequences for their actions." Rena Rouge said.
"I just hope Victor doesn't get one that harsh." Ladybug said. "He might've hurt people, but it wasn't because he enjoyed it. He wanted to save his wife."
"I'm sure he'll be fine." Cat Noir said.
"So, what now?" Carapace asked.
"Well, we've got half an hour til midnight." Ladybug said. "So I guess we spend with the people we care about." She finished, holding Stinger's hand.
"Ok, then." Bunnyx said. Everyone exchanged their Happy New Years before leaving. Ladybug and Stinger were the only ones left on the rooftop.
"Do you want to stay the night at my house?" Stinger asked.
"Yeah, I'd love that." Ladybug said. Stinger wrapped her arms around Ladybug and activated her jet pack and flew to the hotel.
Marinette and Chloé were lying on the couch, still in their clothes that they had on earlier in the night as the were watching the news. Chloé was leaning her back on Marinette's front as Marinette had her arms wrapped around her lover. Tikki and Pollen were sitting on the coffee table, enjoyed their treats as tonight's events left them exhausted.
"Breaking news out of North Paris." Clara Contard said. "Current Mayor of Paris, Andre Bourgeois, has announced that after his term expires in a few years, he will be retiring. While this announcement has not ruled out a possible re-election once his term is expired, his retirement means that Peter Grogan will likely not be the next Police Commissioner. As of right now, we cannot speculate on who the next mayor will appoint the next commissioner, but the police force has already been naming Lieutenant Roger Raincomprix as the front runner. And now to South Paris where Nadja Chamack brings us this live report."
"Thanks, Clara." Nadja said. "I'm standing outside the corporate headquarters of Gothcorp, where Lieutenant Raincomprix has confirmed that CEO of Gothcorp, Ferris Boyle has been taken into police custody. Police report that Mr. Boyle, stands accused of manslaughter, extortion, and attempted murder. Shocking accusations given that just earlier tonight, he received an award for humanitarian of the year. Also in custody is a notoriously elusive underworld crime boss, Oswald Cobblepot, better known as the Penguin. As well as a Gothcorp cryogenicist, Victor Fries. Mr. Fries is being held under heavy guard at the hospital receiving treatment for an undisclosed medical condition. Quincy Sharp has suggested that Mr. Fries is yet another example of the type of criminal that needs the specialized care that only the Arkham Asylum facility can provide. Police credit these arrests to solid police work, but this reporter suspects that the heroes of Paris, Team Miraculous, had more than a small role to play. On a personal note, I owe Team Miraculous a debt of gratitude for rescuing me and others from almost certain death earlier this evening. In addition to also risking their lives to make sure Paris is safe. So, thank you, Team Miraculous. For all of us. Back to you, Clara."
"Thank you, Nadja." Clara said. "Team Miraculous continues to be the talk of Paris this holiday season. So, as we here at TVi news wish you all a happy and safe New Year's Eve, we'll leave you with just a few of the comments you've made about the protectors of Paris."
"I was surrounded." A Gothcorp security guard said. "Next thing I knew, BAM, BOOM, KA-POW! The bastards are all on the ground, KO'd. I didn't see them coming."
"It was all a blur." A civilian said. "They just whooshed in out of nowhere."
"Listen, I'm a cop." A cop said. "It's been a few years since they appeared in Paris. While there are those of us on the force that can't condone what they do, we can be grateful that they're the ones doing it."
"Oh they're the real deal, alright." A criminal said. "I've got the bruises to prove it. They're real, they're ruthless, and as long as they're still kickin, there ain't nothing in the world that's gonna stop them." Chloé turned off the TV and turned to face Marinette.
"Your dad is retiring soon?" Marinette asked.
"Yeah." Chloé said. "It was something that he had been thinking about for a while. He and mom talked to me about."
"What did they say." Marinette asked. "Will you still be living at the hotel."
"Yeah, we will." Chloé said. "He took payment in advance, and he has a lot of money in his savings account. This is practically our house at this point."
The two just sat on the couch, wondering what to do next. It was 11:55 pm when Marinette got an idea.
"You know," Marinette began, "we never did get to finish our slow dance from earlier."
"Oh yeah." Chloé remembered. "Would you like to?"
They both stood up, and Marinette pulled out her phone, looking through her playlist until she stopped at one particular song she had been saving. She selected the song and placed her hands on Chloé's hips while Chloé wrapped her hands around Marinette's neck. The song began and they started to move slowly.
For the way you changed my plans
For being the perfect distraction
Chloé smile at the lyrics, thinking that Marinette had chosen this song because it was a bit similar in their situation.
For the way you took the idea that I have
Of everything that I wanted to have
And made me see there was something missing, oh yeah
Chloé thought about the lyrics, thinking that something connected her with them. She loved Marinette, no matter what. And she was never going to lose her.
For the ending of my first begin
(Ooh, yeah yeah, ooh, yeah yeah)
And for the rare and unexpected friend
(Ooh, yeah yeah, ooh, yeah yeah)
For the way you're something that I'd never choose
But at the same time, something I don't wanna lose
And never wanna be without ever again
Marinette and Chloé got closer, practically hugging each other, but they didn't slow their dance.
You're the best thing I never knew I needed
So when you were here I had no idea
You the best thing I never knew I needed
So now it's so clear, I need you here always
They both made a silent promise to each other, that no matter what happens, they would be there for each other.
My accidental happily
(Ever after)
The way you smile and how you comfort me
(With your laughter)
I must admit you were not a part of my book
But now if you open it up and take a look
You're the beginning and the end of every chapter
Chloé agreed with the lyrics. There are times when she believed that she was in a fairytale, that she was felt like a princess and Marinette was her prince.
You're the best thing I never knew I needed, oh
So when you were here I had no idea
You're the best thing I never knew I needed
(That I needed) oh
So now it's so clear, I need you here always
They were dancing as if they were the only ones in the world.
Who knew that I could be
(Who knew that I could be)
So unexpectedly
(So unexpectedly)
Undeniably happier
Marinette twirled Chloé outwards before pulling her back in.
Sitting with you right here, right here next to me
Girl, you're the best
You're the best thing I never knew I needed
(Said I needed)
So when you were here I had no idea
You're the best thing I never knew I needed
So now it's so clear I need you here always
As the song began to finish, they slowed and stopped, staring lovingly in each other's eyes.
Now it's so clear, I need you here always
As the song was done, they never removed their hands from each other as their foreheads were touching. At the same, there was a countdown to midnight.

"I love you, Marinette." Chloé said.
9
"I love you, too, Chloé." Marinette said.
8
Marinette placed her hands on Chloé's face.
7
Chloé put her hands around Marinette's back.
6
They were drawing closer to each other.
5
Despite the nervousness, they felt content with each other.
4
This was a moment they would treasure forever.
3
They were inches from kissing.
2
They were centimeters from kissing until...
1
Their lips met in a deep kiss.
Happy New Year!!
After a few seconds, they separated but still kept close. They met again in another kiss as this time, it became more heated and passionate. Marinette lifted Chloé and carried her to the bed and laid her down, not once separating. And it wasn't long until the clothes came off and they spent the rest of the night showing each other love.
Next morning, Chloé's eyes fluttered as she was starting to wake up. Once she became aware of her surroundings, she noticed three things.
1. She wasn't wearing a speck of clothing, which wasn't new since there were times she would sleep with nothing on.
2. She felt a weight on her shift slightly, looking down and she saw Marinette, using her like a body pillow.
3. She could see(as well as feel)that Marinette was in the same state of dress(or lack thereof).
Memories of last night came back to her. The dancing, the passion, and everything else. She looked down at her girlfriend. While they have been dating for nine months by now, she still couldn't believe that someone as beautiful as her could love her. She was told multiple times that she wasn't the same person she was a long time ago. Eventually she believed it and still continued to be happy with her new friends and girlfriend. She stroked Marinette'a hair softly.
Marinette's eyes were fluttering as she was starting to wake up as well. She looked up and saw Chloé down at her with a loving smile.
"Good morning, Sleeping Beauty." Chloé joked slightly. Marinette hummed and buried her face in Chloé's neck.
"You've been picking up on Adrien's puns, haven't you?" Marinette asked, mumbled.
"Maybe." Chloé responded. "But I am right that you are a beauty."
"Yeah, I am." Marinette said, teasingly. "But you are just as beautiful."
"I know." Chloé said. Marinette had let out a small sigh.
"Can we stay like this for a while longer?" Marinette asked.
"Sure." Chloé said.
One hour later, and they barely move. Chloé turned on her side to better embrace Marinette as she snuggled more into Chloé's chest. Then Chloé noticed a dark spot on Marinette's neck.
"Sorry about this." Chloé said. "I didn't know what I was thinking." Marinette rubbed the spot before looking at Chloé.
"It's ok." Marinette said. "I'll wear it proudly." She then noticed something. "Besides, you're not the only one who wasn't thinking." She said with a smirk. Chloé felt the spot as well.
"I guess so." Chloé said, before stroking Marinette's hair again.
Eventually, Chloé's hand went from Marinette's hair to stroking her arm. As she did, she unintentionally rubbed close to the gunshot wound near her shoulder and she felt Marinette tense up. Despite it being healed for a year now, Marinette still tensed up since her scars were a reminder of how much she had changed.
"It's ugly, isn't it?" Marinette asked, sadly.
"Marinette..." Chloé began.
"Just say it. I can handle it." Marinette said. She sat upright on the bed, her arms wrapping around herself. Chloé follow her as she sat upright as well.
"Marinette, listen to me." Chloé said, putting her hands on Marinette's face. "You are not ugly. I will never think of you as ugly. We've been over this before, you are beautiful, even with all the scars you've had and if you get anymore, I'll still love you."
"Then why does it feel like this?" Marinette asked as she felt tears starting to burst from her eyes. "Like no matter what, I still can't get it out of my head."
"You know," Chloé began, "Kagami once told me that scars are a symbol of what you've been through. She said that the experience you go through when you get a scar, it's that scars make you strong." She lifted her chin and wiped away the tears that were starting to form on Marinette's cheeks with her thumb. "Wounds make you feel like you're bleeding out. Yes, the pain will break you down. But once you get through it?" Marinette glanced up at her girlfriend. "Then the scars form, and you become unbreakable."
Marinette was shocked that Chloé was telling her all this.
"Kagami said that?" Marinette asked.
"She's been through worse." Chloé stated. "Remember when she told us about her past. She must've picked it up somewhere."
"Thank you Chloé. For making me feel better." Marinette said.
"You're welcome, Marinette." Chloé said.
They wrapped each other in a hug, loved the feeling of being so close. As they were hugging, Marinette looked down and saw Chloé's back. There was a long scar on it, the same one she received last year in Gotham. She stroked the scar.
"I've always wondered if you ever thought about your own scars." Marinette said.
"Sometimes." Chloé admitted. "But I never let it get to me. Maybe you should do the same."
"Chloé's right, Marinette. You can't let it get to you." A voice said. They turned and saw their Kwami's floating there.
"Tikki, next time say something." Marinette said.
"We didn't want to bother you two." Tikki said. "Chloé is right though. I've seen how much it has affected you. It's ok to ask for help, even if you don't need it."
"I understand now, Tikki." Marinette said.
"That's good, but right now I think it's time we got back home." Tikki said. Marinette looked at the time and saw that it was close to 10 am.
After that, Marinette and Chloé got out of bed. Marinette put the clothes she wore last night back on. Chloé just put on underwear as she still had to shower but held it off to walk her girlfriend who turned into Ladybug.
"I'll see you later." Ladybug said. "I have to get back home."
"I understand." Chloé said. "See you later."
They both shared another kiss then Ladybug swung away. Chloé went back inside and showered. Once she was done, she exited her bathroom with a towel wrapped around her. Then she noticed a small dagger embedded on her desk with a note going through it. She pulled the note out and read it.
"Come to the Eiffel Tower." Chloé said, reading the note. "Pollen, did you see who did this?"
"No, my queen." Pollen said. "I was in the bathroom with you."
Chloé wondered who sent her this. She didn't hear anyone break in. She didn't see anything broken. As she looked around, a question popped in her mind.
Who the hell was in my room?
Stinger was on top the Eiffel Tower at night, twirling the dagger in her hand. She heard a noise, so she quickly turned around and saw her friends in their costumes. She also saw they had notes and daggers like the one she had.
"You guys too, huh?" Stinger said, holding her items.
"Yeah." The team said.
"There's something familiar about this dagger though." Ryuko said. She stared at the blade a bit longer.
"What do you think it's trying to say." Cat Noir asked.
"I don't know." Ladybug said. "Ryuko, what do you think?" Ryuko looked at the blade until it clicked in her mind.
"Do you think it's a trap?" King Monkey asked.
"No." Ryuko said." Because the real trap," she turned a pulled out her sword just in time to deflect three kunai that were heading towards her, "was behind us."
Suddenly, a group of people wearing white ninja clothes with red streaks dropped down, swords drawn, and eyes focused on the heroes. Getting in fighting stances, they readied themselves. Soon, the ninjas were defeated except for one they interrogated.
"Who sent you?" Ryuko asked, holding her sword to the ninja's neck.
Suddenly, more ninjas appeared, placing their swords on Team Miraculous' necks to keep them from moving. Ryuko felt a sword on the back of her neck.
"Enough." A strong feminine voice said. "Let her go, turn around, and hand me your weapon."
Ryuko released the ninja from her grasp. She turned to face the woman who wore a mask. But she removed her mask to show her face. She had short brown hair, fair colored skin, green eyes. She wore a black jacket, white pants, gauntlets with kunai around her arm, and multiple straps. Ryuko knew this woman.
"Nyssa." Ryuko said.
Nyssa lowered her sword and held her hand out. Ryuko put the handle of her sword in Nyssa's hand. Nyssa ordered her troops to lower their weapons as well. Team Miraculous, though still cautious, was wondering what the hell just happened.
"Thank you, Kagami." Nyssa said, causing Team Miraculous to go wide eyed.
"Did Shiva tell you about my identity?" Ryuko asked.
"No, not really." Nyssa said. "But you don't need to be a ninja to tell something was bothering her." Ryuko looked at the ninjas and noticed something.
"Something tells me you left the League, didn't you." Ryuko said.
"Around the same time you did." Nyssa said. Suddenly, Nyssa pulled Ryuko in for a hug. "It's been a long time."
"Almost eight years." Ryuko said, hugging Nyssa back.
"Hey, for those of us who aren't ninjas, can you tell us what the hell is going on?" Rena asked.
"Guys, this is Nyssa al Ghul." Ryuko said. "She was my closest friend growing up."
"How did you know Ryuko's identity?" Ladybug asked.
"We've been keeping an eye on all of you." Nyssa said.
"We?" Bunnyx asked.
Suddenly, a noise startled them. They looked up and saw a customized jet. While it was unfamiliar to some of the heroes, the other half immediately recognized the jet. It's occupant jumped out and dived before opening his cape and landing on the tower as well.
"Batman?" Half of Team Miraculous exclaimed.
"It's been a while." Batman said.
"What are you doing here?" Ladybug asked.
"I've been looking at your news stations and saw the report of what happened last night." Batman said.
"Thanks for your concern, but we handled it." Cat Noir said.
"So I saw." Batman said. "Paris really looks up to all of you." He noticed the other heroes. "It seems you've gained more allies, Ladybug."
"Yep." Ladybug said. "These are the new additions to the team."
"So, how have you been doing, Batman." Viperion asked.
"Good." Batman said. "Same old, same old. But as I was flying over here, I noticed the Arkham Asylum facility is close to completion."
"By the end of the year, they will be transferring the criminals of Blackgate Prison here." Stinger said.
"Which is another reason why me and Bruce are here." Nyssa said.
"You know who he is?" Pigella asked.
"Of course." Nyssa said. "While he can't stay in Paris for long, we agreed to help train you all stand a better chance against criminals."
"In addition, I think it's time to upgrade your gear." Batman said, pushing some buttons on his gauntlet.
The Batwing hatch opened and set down three containers. The team stepped forward as the containers opened and revealed new utility belts, gadgets, gauntlets, and one even had blueprints for new projectiles.
"This is for us?" Carapace asked, to which Batman nodded.
"Oh can we get more?" King Monkey asked. "Like maybe a jet like yours? Oh, how about a car?"
"Get your license first, King Monkey." Batman said. "And then we'll talk."
For the next couple of hours, they've been going back and forth, Nyssa sharing some stories from her days in the League, to the adventures she's been on. Batman pulled Ladybug away from the group to talk to her privately.
"Why did you really come here, Bruce?" Ladybug asked.
"Apart from giving you new gear, I assumed that you would've had some questions?" Batman said.
"Still seeing through me?" Ladybug asked, jokingly.
"I'm not called the World's Greatest Detective for nothing." Batman said.
"But seriously, I did have a few questions." Ladybug admitted.
"Like what?" Batman asked.
"What is the history of Arkham Asylum." Ladybug asked.
Giving Ladybug the information she wanted along with giving Team Miraculous new and improved gear, Batman set the Batwing down on the landing pad far from a local Parisian airport. There was a large transport that was capable of carrying the Batwing. Once it was loaded, Batman entered the hanger of the transport. He took off his mask just as two people entered.
One was a man who was just as buff as Batman. He wore a blue suit that had an alien appearance to it. He had red boots and a red cape. But most appearing was on his chest was a stylized S that was red with yellow to fill the gaps.
The other was a woman who was muscular in her own right. She had red armored boots and a red torso that had gold highlights. A blue battle skirt that allowed freedom of movement. She wore a gold crown on her forehead. But she wielded a sword and shield as her weapons.
"Clark, Diana." Bruce greeted.
"Do you really think it's a good idea to give those kids some of your gear?" Clark asked.
"They're not kids anymore." Bruce said. "They'll be graduating this year."
"That's not what he meant." Diana said.
"I know." Bruce said. "But they need as much help as they can get."
"And you think it's a better idea to see what they can do." Clark said.
"They still have much to learn." Bruce said. "If they can learn to fight other superpowered beings that are more than what they're used to, they will protect Paris with all they have."
Clark and Diana looked at each other. They had to admit, Bruce had high hopes for these kids. Maybe they could become valuable members of their own team, once they get enough to form one.
"I just hope you know what you're doing." Diana said.
"I always do." Bruce said.
"So why did you want for us to meet!" Adrien asked.
The next morning, Marinette called for a team meeting in Chloé's room. Much like they're previous meetings, Team Miraculous met in Chloé's room. With some heroes sitting or standing, while the Kwami's are on the coffee table.
"Last night, Bruce and I were talking and he told me things that he recently discovered." Marinette said.
"Like what?" Juleka asked.
Marinette pulled out a hard drive and plugged it into the TV. The screen showed a man who appeared to be in his early 40s. He wore a suit and glasses.
"This is Cyrus Pinkney, the original architect for Gotham City." Marinette said.
"I once read about him. Max said. "Designed a lot of the buildings in Gotham that still stand today.
"Yes well, he was until his presumed death on the Eve of his 40th birthday." Marinette said. "In addition, he had close relations to three people but only one of them had hated him."
"Who were they?" Alya asked.
"Solomon Wayne." Marinette said. "Bruce's ancestor who was a judge. He and Cyrus were close friends. So mush so, that he and Solomon worked for a better future."
"The others?" Luka asked.
"The other was named Henry Cobblepot." Marinette said. This shocked the others.
"Cobblepot?" Chloé asked.
"Yes." Marinette confirmed. "The same as Oswald's ancestor. He was a sneaky little bastard, just like Penguin. Apparently, there's been a rivalry of sorts between the Cobblepot's and the Wayne's. Bruce's family basically put Oswald's out of business. Ever since then, they've been at odds with each other."
"So, how did Cyrus know him?" Roaar asked.
"There was a point in which Cyrus went behind Solomon's back." Marinette said. "It wasn't intentional as far as I know, but he was desperate. When Cyrus realized that Henry was doing things that he worked so hard against, he went to Gotham's mayor at the time to establish a bill to ban the endeavor. It worked, but Henry didn't like that and planned to kill Cyrus for his betrayal."
"And the last one?" Sabrina asked. When they saw Marinette tense, she asked, "What is it?"
"The final person was named Amadeus Arkham." Marinette said. The team and their Kwami's let out a huge gasp.
"Amadeus Arkham?" Trixx asked. "As in Arkham Asylum?"
"Yes." Marinette said. "Cyrus met him when he was still a student, and he exhibited intelligence unmatched by even Gotham's smartest. Apparently, Cyrus was the one who had the idea to create the asylum for Amadeus. Amadeus himself had a kind heart, one that seeked to help those who all others have turned away from. Rehabilitation instead of incarceration, he stated."
"So, they had the idea of the asylum to begin with." Plagg assumed.
"The original plan was to make one for Gotham." Marinette said. "But there was also more to this." She pulled up ideas for the asylum. "If the asylum in Gotham was successful, they would build more in some of the biggest cities in the world. And Paris was the next target."
"Well, if Amadeus had a kind heart, what made the original Arkham Asylum fail?" Nino asked.
"I don't know." Marinette said. "Even Bruce still doesn't know yet. Guess Cyrus was just as mysterious as anyone."
"So what now?" Kagami asked. "I know Nyssa said she'll help us train, but will it be enough to go against the criminals?"
"We've handled them before, we can do it again." Kim said.
"That was a year ago." Max said. "Who knows how much has changed."
"Which is why we'll be even more prepared." Marinette said. "Because like it or not, Paris will change forever. And we are the only ones that can do anything about it."
One year later
"As so, it is my pleasure to open our new mental institution, Arkham Asylum." The mayor said.
Reporters were taking footage and photographers were taking pictures. For the past year, Team Miraculous had trained so hard to prepare them. In addition, their new gear had served them well and will continue to help them out.
Suddenly, an aircraft landed on the rooftop of the asylum. The hanger door and the inmates were handcuffed as they were escorted inside. The higher criminals were not only handcuffed, but what appeared to be restrained as much as possible. This included the villains from last year along with some new additions. This included what appeared to be a female version of Joker, a green skinned woman wearing nothing but a red button up, a man with green clothes that had question marks on it, someone with scars all over his body, and many more.
As Ladybug looked at the criminals, only one thought came to mind: war was about to begin.
And that concludes the Arkham Origins DLC: Cold Cold Heart story. This actually didn't take as long as I thought it would. I tried to keep it close to the original while also adding in some of my own ideas.
For those who don't know, the Cyrus Pinkney side mission is in Arkham Origins. I tried to be as accurate as I could. If I missed anything, let me know and I'll correct it.
The part where Marinette and Chloé were together: that the closest I could make a sex scene without being too descriptive, mainly because this is a T rated story. Maybe one day, I'll make a M rated scene, but for now you'll have to make do with this.
The song used when Marinette and Chloé were dancing: Never Knew I Needed by Ne-Yo. I do not own this song.
But other than that, here's the final chapter. Next time, we'll be doing the Arkham Asylum story.
Until next time, let me know your thoughts.
