Harry lay on his bed, thinking about his parents. They were amazing. His mum fussed continuously over many times he told her he was fine. His dad cracked him up with jokes and stories of his days at Hogwarts, including the Marauders pranking. He heard the door open and shook out of his daze.
A familier man with curly, shaggy hair and stormy grey eyes entered the room with a wide grin. Harry's eyes widened.
"Hey kiddo!" Said Sirius, taking a seat next to Harry's bed.
"Padfoot!" Harry threw his arms around his godfather and hugged him tight.
Emotions swirled among them and Harry choked back a sob.
Sirius pulled back and smiled brightly. "God, I missed you."
Harry gave a watery chuckle. "I missed you too."
"You're 17!" Said Sirius in disbelief. "Has it really been that long?"
"I guess…" said Harry. They both fell into tense silence.
"Ja-your dad was practically jumping when he told me the news." Said Sirius, breaking the silence. "You mum wouldn't stop smiling."
Harry smiled at the image.
"It's weird, right?" said Sirius. "When the people you accepted were gone and suddenly they come back?"
Harry looked at him curiously. "Yeah…how do you know?"
Sirius grinned. "You're not the only dimensional traveler who came here."
Harry glanced up sharply. "What?"
Sirius nodded, rubbing Harry's hand. "There was an attack at the department of mysteries in the ministry. My alternate godson and his friends were there, and I went to help them."
Harry's heart caught in his throat. 'No, it can't be…it's not possible…'
"And I-"
"Fell through the veil."
Sirius glanced up sharply, just like Harry did. "Yes, I fell through the veil."
The tense silence resumed. Godfather and godson stared at each other in suspicion.
Harry finally got the strength to break the silence. "In my world, I was an orphan. My parents died at-"
"Halloween, 1981." Sirius said without hesitation. "Lily sacrificed her life to save yo- the other Harry's and Voldemort couldn't kill him."
Harry lifted his bangs, revealing the lightning bolt scar.
Sirius's eyes widened as he muttered. "The killing curse didn't work and rebounded on Voldemort."
After a moment of silence, Sirius asked. "Harry was having visions of Voldemort, and Dumbledore-"
"Instructed Snape to teach me occumilacy, which I couldn't make heads or tails of." Harry said, looking down.
He swallowed the lump in his throat. "In my third year, Sirius escaped azkaban because he-"
"Saw the photo of Wormtail on the daily prophet and realised he was at hogwarts. He turned into a dog and slipped through the cell bars and swam to the mainland." Sirius repeated the story of nearly the happiest day of his life.
Harry stared at the grey eyes, tears forming in it. Could it be? How many nights he spent having nightmares of Sirius's death? How many times did he wish that he would appear and say that it was all a prank? How many times did he blamed himself for his godfather's death? How many times he wished to melt in his arms once more? Was his wish finally coming true?
Sirius was scared. This was him, his Harry. His godson. From his world. How many days did he spend wishing to see him again? How many times he was dragged back by James and Remus for trying to jump into the viel again, just to see Harry? How many times did he wish he was there to guide Harry through his life? How many times did he wish to hear his godson's laugh one last time? Sirius was scared that it couldn't be true. That it wasn't him.
He forced himself to ask one last question. "In my world, I gave Harry a small present before he started his fifth year."
Harry smiled. "My dad's mirror. You wanted me to have it so that you could keep in touch with me at Hogwarts."
At that last answer, they both knew. Sirius gave a strangled sob and pulled Harry in for a fierce embrace. Harry found himself sobbing onto his shoulder. It was him. He was back.
"You're-you're really-"
"I ca-can't be-believe it."
Sirius pulled away, staring into the green eyes filled with joy. He felt like Lily, as he couldn't stop smiling now.
"I'm so sorry," Harry choked out the words he wanted to say forever. "I'm so sorry I got you killed. It's all my fault, I-"
Sirius shook his head, horrified. "Harry James Potter, look at me." Harry glanced up into the stormy grey eyes. "I never did or will blame you. In fact, I am proud of you. You see someone in danger, and you have the guts to do whatever you can to save them. You can't have possibly predicted what was going to happen."
"But-"
"I love you so much, Harry."
Harry's heart skipped a beat. Did he just say-
Sirius saw the shock flash across Harry's face and repeated. "Yes, I love you. I didn't mean what I said at Grimmauld place, I am so sorry about that and I regret it more than you think. I should have never said something like that, you were frustrated and you-you have the entire weight of the world on your shoulders and-"
Harry didn't let Sirius finish before he hugged him more fiercely than before. They stayed like that for a few minutes. Sirius muttered comforting words while rubbing his back as they both let the silent emotions take over.
