Chapter 20: Battle At The Bottom Of Seafoam Islands! Vs. Articuno!
As Michael gave a pair of berry pouches to Fauna for Gogoat and Vikavolt, as well as a third one for Vulpix, Applejack walked over to the male trio.
Applejack - "There you guys are. What happened to y'all down in the caves?"
Mikey - "Apologies Applejack. Jack here decided to be an idiot and go further DOWN into the cave, which in turn cause me and John to follow and set him back on the right path. Sadly, that in turn caused us to get separated from you, Kiara, Mumei, and Fauna. But I see that you four have reunited with your friends at least."
Kiara - "Hey don't worry about. Besides Michael just battled Mumei and Fauna and won while we waited for you three."
John - "Aww. We missed out on the fun. Thanks a lot Jack."
Jack - "Sorry..."
Michael - "Don't worry about it guys. And since you three are all taking part on the Pokémon League and are considered our new friends and rivals, how about a triple battle between the four of us?"
Mikey, John, and Jack shared a glance with each other. Then they widely grinned.
Mikey/John/Jack - "Sure!"
Soon the four trainers were in their repsective places.
Clair - "This will be a triple battle between the trio of Mikey, John, and Jack Vs. Michael. The battle will end when all three Pokémon on one side are unable to battle. Are both sides ready?"
Mikey/John/Jack - "Go Sceptile/Falinks/Lopunny!"
Michael - "Swapert, Delphox, Incineroar I choose you!"

Mikey (1), John (1), and Jack (1) Vs. Michael (3)
Swampert (Splash Plate), Delphox (Flame Plate), and Incineroar (Flame Plate) Vs. Sceptile (Miracle Seed), Falinks (Black Belt), and Lopunny (Silk Scarf)
Clair - "Begin!"
Turn #1
Mikey - "Sceptile use Leaf Storm on Swampert!"
John - "Falinks Close Combat on Incineroar!"
Jack - "Lopunny Headbutt on Delphox!"
Leaf Storm's Current Power: 130 + 65 = 195 + 39 = 234 x 4 = 936
Close Combat's Current Power: 120 + 60 = 180 + 36 = 216 x 2 = 432
Headbutt's Current Power: 70 + 35 = 105 + 21 = 126
Michael then smirked as his opponents got in close.
Michael - "Dodge it you three!"
Swampert/Delphox/Incineroar - "Right!"
All three starters dodged the attacks easily.
Michael - "Now it's time to strike back! Delphox use Dazzling Psyflame on all three of them!"
Mikey/John/Jack - "Say what?!"
Flamethrower's Current Power: 90 + 45 = 135 + 27 = 162
Psychic's Current Power: 90 + 45 = 135 + 27 = 162
Dazzling Psyflame's Current Power: 162 + 162 = 324 + 80 = 404 (Vs. Lopunny) x 2 = 808 (Vs. Sceptile) x 2 = 1,616 (Vs. Falinks)
Delphox's combo hit all three opponents, knocking out Falinks right away and doing massive damage to Sceptile and Lopunny.
John - "No Falinks!"
Jack - "Don't worry John! Mikey and I will get revenge for you!"
Michael - "Sorry guys. But this battle's already over."
Mikey - "What do you mean by that?"
Michael - "Incineroar! Dark Flame Break on Sceptile! Swampert! Ice Break on Lopunny!"
Darkest Lariat's Current Power: 85 + 42.5 = 127.5 + 25.5 = 153
Dark Flame Break's Current Power: 153 + 162 = 315 + 75 = 390 x 2 = 780
Ice Break's Current Power: 90 + 75 = 165 x 2 = 330
Swampert and Incineroar then quickly struck, knocking out their remaining two opponents.
(Music Ends)
Clair - "Sceptile, Falinks, and Lopunny are unable to battle! Swampert, Delphox, and Incineroar win! Due to all three of his opponents Pokémon being knocked out, Michael wins the battle!"
Michael - "Sweet!"
Michael did a fist bump with his three Pokemon to celebrate their victory.
John - "Well that just happened..."
Jack - "But at least we now have an idea of Michael's battle strategy."
Mikey - "True. But there's also the chance he could turn it around on us."
John - "True..."
Michael took Vulpix back from Fauna and returned her to her Poké Ball. The party, now with Mikey, John, and Jack, entered Seafoam Islands. While traveling inside the cave, Michael caught a Seel and a pair of Slowpoke, sending them to Akira. Twilight and Sabrina also got a Slowpoke each. Sabrina trained her Slowpoke a bit and it to evolve into Slowbro, while Twilight used the King's Rock and Link Box to get a Slowking.
Rainbow - "Arceus this majorly sucks. We're a good distance into the cave here, and besides that one trainer with Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon, there's no one else here."
Michael - "Well if you think about it Rainbow, despite the location of the Seafoam Islands, because of the kind of Pokémon that live in these caves, a lot of water Pokémon that are also Ice-Types, you can pretty much see why it's cold across the entire cavern on the inside."
Rainbow went to retort, then quickly realized how sound Michael's logic was.
Rainbow - "Damn. That actually makes a lot of sense."
The rest of the party chuckled at Michael throwing some logic at Rainbow. Upon getting further into the cave, Michael and Pinkie both caught a Shellder. Michael then sent his Shellder to Akira while Pinkie used a Water Stone on her's evolving it into a Cloyster.
Pinkie - "Yay! I now have a Cloyster!"
Michael - "Congrats Pinkie."
Soon the party came to the bottom most floor of Seafoam Islands. Michael then sensed around the floor with his aura, picking up two unique energy signatures.
Michael - "They're here."
Mikey - "Who is?"
Twilight - "Michael must be referring to Lady Arceus and Lady Articuno."
Weiss - "I'm guessing Lady Articuno most likely lives down here since she is an Ice-Type. As for Lady Arceus, she pretty much has another test for Michael."
Ruby - "Yeah pretty much. I have a feeling this test is gonna be very different though."
Yang - "What makes you say that, Rubes?"
Ruby - "Just a hunch."
Blake - "Sounds like Michael's rubbing off on you a bit."
Ruby chuckled a bit at hearing that.
? - "Ah there you all are."
Lady Arceus walked towards the party.
Michael - "Hello Lady Arceus. I'm guessing you're gonna test me again with Lady Articuno?"
Arceus - "That's correct."
Mikey/John/Jack/Hololive EN - "That's Lady Arceus?!"
Michael - "Alright then. I'm ready to start when you are lady Articuno."
Articuno - "Then let's get this battle started already!"

Legendary Battle: Michael (6) Vs. Bird of Ice Articuno
Michael took off his cap and tossed it behind him, where Weiss caught it. He also quickly changed into the gi he wore when he battled Zapdos back then.
Michael - "Let's go Vulpix!"
Vulpix - "Right!"
Michael - "Battle disk activate!"
A bright aura surrounded Articuno as Michael's battle dick activated.
Articuno: Attack +1, Defense +1, Special Attack +1, Special Defense +1, Speed +1
Turn #1
Michael - "I activate Defense Cutter! Use Energy Ball Vulpix!"
Vulpix - "On it!"
Articuno - "Taste my Mirror Coat!"
Defense Cutter: Turn 1/3
Articuno: Attack +1, Defense -1, Special Attack +1, Special Defense -1, Speed +1
Energy Ball's Current Power: 90/2 = 45 x 2 = 90
Vulpix fired her Energy Ball at Articuno, who stopped it with Mirror Coat and sent it back at Vulpix. Thankfully Vulpix dodged the returned attack with ease.
Turn #2
Defense Cutter: Turn 2/3
Articuno - "Ice Beam!"
Michael - "Dark Sensory!"
Ice Beam's Current Power: 90 + 45 = 135/2 = 67.5
Dark Sensory's Current Power: 80 + 80 = 160
Vulpix fired off her combo attack, which Articuno took full force. She then fired back at Vulpix with a barrage of Ice Beams. While running around dodging the Ice Beams, Vulpix suddenly stopped in place, which caused her to take the Ice Beam full blast and crash into the wall.
Michael - "You ok there Vulpix?"
Vulpix broke out of the ice and shook herself off.
Vulpix - "I'm good!"
Michael silently watched as Vulpix readied herself to get back into the battle.
Michael - "That was strange. Vulpix was dodging Lady Articuno's Ice Beam just fine. Then all of a sudden, she just freezes in place and gets hit point blank. Wait..."
Michael thinks back to his battle with Fauna on the beach, when Vikavolt's Thunder hit Vulpix while her paw was in the water.
Michael - "Could that... Could that really be it?!"
Michael then saw a mark that started from Vulpix's right rear paw and traveled up her leg and along her belly. But then his blood went cold when he saw the mark ended over her heart.
Michael - "Vulpix..."
Michael then did something that he never wanted to do.
Michael - "Vulpix return."
Everything went silent. No one could believe what they were hearing, not even Michael's other Pokemon, as well as Arceus and Articuno. However, Vulpix shocked them all even more with her answer.
Vulpix - "No."
Michael - "But Vulpix...!"
Vulpix - "I said no Michael! You choose me for this battle. So then I'm gonna see it through to the end no matter what!"
Michael then sighed in defeat. He listened to Vulpix's haggard breathing, but knew she was gonna be downright stubborn to the bitter end.
Michael - "Fine. But don't come crying to me when Lady Articuno knocks you out."
Vulpix - "Right!"
Turn #3
Defense Cutter: Turn 3/3
Michael - "Fire Booster! Use Flamethrower!"
Articuno - "Agility!"
Fire Booster: Turn 1/3
Flamethrower's Current Power: 90 + 45 = 135 + 27 = 162 x 2 = 324
Articuno: Attack +1, Defense -1, Special Attack +1, Special Defense -1, Speed +3
Vulpix fired off her Flamethrower, but Articuno's increased speed let her easily dodge it.

Michael watched as Vulpix was breathing heavily, struggling to stay on her feet due to her heart condition. He knew this next attack would end it.
Articuno - "Take this! Full power Ice Beam!"
Michael - "Quickly Vulpix! Answer back with full power Dark Flame Sensory!"
Dark Flame Sensory's Current Power: 162 + 160 = 322 x 2 = 644
Michael - "Fire Sword!"
Fire Sword: Turn 1/3
Dark Flame Sensory's Current Power: 644 x 2 = 1,288
Michael/Vulpix - "GO!"
Everyone else watched as Pokemon and Trainer seemingly combined their souls together, putting everything they had behind Vulpix's combo attack. They were then amazed as the combo attack smashed right through Articuno's full strength Ice Beam, causing her to take the full force of the attack. The smoke cleared to show that Articuno was badly injured.
Vulpix - "Now Michael!"
Michael - "Go Ultra Ball!"
Michael pulled out the threw the Ultra Ball at Articuno, which hit her and sucked her into it before falling to the ground.
One shake.
Two shakes.
Three shakes.

Girls - "He did it!"
While the others were celebrating, Michael caught Vulpix falling to the ground out of the corner of his eye.
Michael - "Vulpix!"
Michael rushed over to his Fire-Type, catching her before she hit the ground. A few quick glances already told Michael what he had feared.
Michael - "Lady Arceus!"
Arceus rushed over to Michael. The two of them exchanged a few words, then Arceus got up and retrived the Ultra Ball Articuno was caught in while brought out Empoleon, Greninja, and Brionne. Michael gave what was seemingly a few orders to them while Arceus walked back over to him. Arceus then teleported herself, Michael, and Vulpix away as the water starter trio walked over to the rest of the party.
Ruby - "What's the matter Empoleon?"
Empoleon - "It's Vulpix Ruby. She's in very bad shape."
Weiss - "How bad is that?"
Greninja - "Try 'Constantly lowering body temperature and weak pulse' bad."
The entire party felt their blood run cold at that. Twilight then cleared her throat.
Twilight - "What orders did he give you three?"
Brionne - "For us, as well as Swampert, Delphox, and Incineroar, to help get you guys out of the Seafoam Islands. We can take care of ourselves. But if any of your guys give us a command, it has to be obeyed."
Applejack - "Very well then. Come on everyone. Let's get out of here and help support Michael and Vulpix!"
Party - "Right!"
-Meanwhile, at Cinnabar Island's Pokémon Center-
Michael sat outside the doors to the operation room, staring at the floor in despair as he prayed for Vulpix to survive.
Michael - "Please Lady Arceus. Please let Vulpix survive this..."
