AN: Here I'm back! I've worked on a very long one shot, I hope you'd read it! I'm glad to be back here on Nova, I'm also working on my next fanfic if nothing wrong happen, I hope you'll also like it. Here is some brothers moments!

Netto was lying on a sofa in his father's office. After what happened in the basement of SciLabs, Rockman had taken him back to the scientist's office as that was the room they knew best. He removed his bandana and was holding an ice pack to his wounded head. As he removed his shoes, the blue Navi moved closer to his injured leg with packs of white bandages. Netto noticed as he came closer, but he winced.

"Rockman, first we need to clean the wound."

Raising his head, Rockman looked at him innocently.

"I... I know!"

He grimaced as he looked at the wound. The blue Navi picked up the bottle with which he had to clean the wound. He heard Netto grunt in pain as he poured it.

"Does it hurt?" Asked the Navi who was very worried about his reaction.

"It's fine..." The younger twin managed to reply past gritting teeth.

Rockman nodded slowly and took several cotton pads to wipe, then finally took the bandages and bound them to hide the wound. He noticed that it was wide open, how long would it take to close? Then he put a huge plaster over the wound on Netto's head, which could then be hidden by his bandana.

Netto stopped grunting and dropped his head onto the sofa cushion, keeping his eyes closed. Rockman looked at him, worried if his brother had fainted.

"Netto, are you sleeping?"

The other boy opened one eye to look at him, then put his arm down to hide his eyes.

"Let me rest, Rockman..."

"We need to get some information and get out of here." Rockman said as he crouched down next to him.

"Just a nap, please."

"No, we can't stay in one place, especially when we know that you are probably wanted."

The human boy finally sighed and sat up. Rockman helped him up and his eyes went to their father's desk. He let Netto settle into the rolling chair and leaned against the wall, crossing his arms.

"Do you want us to search Papa's archives?" Netto asked, pointing to the computer.

"Papa knows a lot more than you might think. If there's someone who could have information about this program, it's him."

Netto turned around and pressed the start button. However, after a few seconds, the boy almost wanted to scream inside. The screen too had the same text, the same red letters written continuously on the black screen. He sighed loudly.

"Damn, this thing again!" He turned back to his Navi who had been looking at the screen strangely. "See, this is the problem I've had since home!"

Rockman, on the other hand, seemed troubled. He approached slowly, leaning forward to place one hand on the desk and the second almost touching the screen. Netto's eyes darted back and forth from his head to his hand, deciphering his reaction.

"Uh Rockman, do you understand what that says?"

The Navi did not answer immediately, his eyes moving up and down as he read. Looking into his eyes as best he could, Netto could see a kind of binary language in the eyes of his twin brother. His mouth opened, and his voice was different from usual, it sounded deep, and it resonated.

"I AM ALIVE

HUMAN - FREE ME AND FEED ME

THOSE WHO DO NOT FEAR ME

I WILL NEVER LET YOU FORGET ABOUT ME."

Netto almost jumped, his brother was frightened too but hadn't moved at all.

"Rockman?"

The navi finally looked away from him, rather surprised at his operator's almost comical reaction.

"When did this message appear?"

The boy with the bandana straightened up and looked at him seriously.

"Today. I noticed it first at home... But..."

The boy in orange began to think, how could he know if this message had started today? As he had noticed earlier, no screens were on and no one else was using a computer. How could he know if it had started on this day or on any other before it? Rockman looked at the screen again warily.

"It's quite confusing, but I think this message could be directed at us..."

Netto smirked, while also looking at the message.

"I'm having trouble understanding the 'set me free' and 'feed me'. Is that why those Navi wanted to know if I was human?"

The blue Navi shook his head.

"I'm not sure I understand either."

The boy with the bandanna sighed heavily as he sank into his father's seat.

"Well, we can't do our research on a computer... What a nuisance..."

However, Rockman raised his head to look at various boxes. He picked one up at random and found some files, taking one in his hand.

"We still have written notes." He smiles. "We can always look over there."

He heard the other boy make a small laugh and looked at him with confusion.

"A NetNavi that does research like the old days, it's funny to see that!" Netto commented.

Rockman only shrugged. He continued to pull up each file, looking for something relevant while his best friend spun in his seat. His frown faded as he pulled out a file with the name 'NovaCorp.' He smiled.

"Bingo."

The boy with the bandana almost jumped out of his seat, he approached the blue Navi while still seated, accompanied by his wheelchair. Rockman looked at the folder in his hands before opening it and found various photos and texts. Among the photos was a man he could recognize even though he was quite young.

"Gramps?!" Netto reacted first, looking very shocked to see him there.

Rockman actually wasn't, he suspected that he must have done something to help. Tadashi Hikari was a man with the reputation of a great scientist. Over the years, he was involved in many technological advancements, so he must have been involved in various scientific projects. With all these vintage photos, he understood that it must have been during the late 60s, or maybe even early 70s.

"Gramps created the Nova program?!" Netto exclaimed even though he had only looked at one photo and not read any writing.

"Netto... Wait..." Rockman frowned at him.

The blue Navi's fingers touched the various handwritten sheets. He began to read them, imagining each scene by the details left by his grandfather. Netto looked at him with curious eyes.

"What does it say?"

Rockman looked up at him.

"Grandfather had supported a man named Hoshinokawa Yusuke. He was the creator of NovaCorp." He showed a photo of a somewhat extroverted man. Netto wondered if he was a narcissist. "He wanted the company to remain private, that's why he was helped by Grandpa with his experiments."

Netto frowned.

"What kind of experience?"

"The robotic experiments and more importantly... The human brain?" Rockman had continued reading with a surprised look. "He wanted to understand how autonomous a robot could be, and how the human brain had limitations in doing what it needed to do."

Netto froze, waiting for what he was saying.

"He wanted to understand it, and see if it was possible to transfer the information from the brain to somewhere else, like into a robot or a computer."

It was then that the boy with the bandana pointed at him.

"Oh! A bit like you!"

Rockman froze as he looked at him. He didn't feel comfortable being associated with this, especially if it could have been the origin of an evil program that was destroying the consciousness of the Navi. He turned the page to see if he could find any more information. He widened his eyes when he found a picture of the two male scientists, surrounded by several men in military uniforms. They appeared to be in a snowy, almost frozen environment.

"Excursion to the North Pole," Rockman began to read again. "With the help funded by Z Nation, we were able to find the frozen body of an..." He stopped reading, not sure what it said.

"Of an?" Netto added, wanting to know the rest of the story.

"The frozen body of an alien locked in ice for hundreds of years. It was brought back to society for experimental purposes, without being revealed to the outside world."

"Eeeeeeeh?!" Netto squeaked as he gripped his chair with wide eyes. "An alien?! Are you serious?!"

Rockman nodded and closed his eyes.

"That might be surprising," Navi commented in a calm voice. "But I'm a soul transferred into a computer just like the experiments explained here, and then we also shouldn't forget about Duo's existence. So would finding a frozen alien really be that strange?"

"Yes! I mean no..." Netto tried to calm himself as Rockman seemed to judge him. "You are something related to this world, Duo was a program! Whereas this thing... this alien, it's not from this world, we don't even know where it came from!"

"That's why they experimented on it." Rockman continued reading but sighed, "Unfortunately, we don't know what kind of experimenting they did on it, and Grandpa would have left anyway because it wasn't really relevant to his work anymore. But no real information on this Nova program."

The boy looked at him with disappointment, took a deep breath and then sighed. He tried to get up from the seat despite his left leg still being in pain. He limped, refusing Navi's help, to the couch where he dropped onto it.

"What are you doing?" Rockman asked, not having moved.

"Bah... I'm getting ready to leave. You wanted us to leave, right?" He replied in a very laissez-faire voice while putting on his shoes and putting his bag on his lap.

Rockman only pouted as he looked at the files in the box. He wondered if he missed something, there had to be more information. His grandfather couldn't leave him in the dark. He looked through the other files, analyzing each name, but nothing seemed to relate to their problem, until he came across something. He found a folder with "Project X" written on it, but the X was scribbled out by red marker to be renamed "Gemini" instead. The Navi raised an eyebrow, looking first at the other boy who had put a biscuit in his mouth and then back at the folder. He took the file with both hands, looking at it almost like a sacred jewel, and opened it reading its contents without saying a word.

Netto chewed his biscuit slowly, and swallowed it in one gulp. He took another and put the box back in his bag.

"Nothing like eating something after a stressful day..." He looked ecstatic, but turned his head towards Navi with his mouth full. "What are you reading?"

Rockman looked up from his reading to look at him with a look like he had had an important thing. Just as he was about to open his mouth, an alarm sounded loudly throughout the building. First, Netto placed his hands over his ears while the Navi looked around with concern. Then both boys felt one tremor, then several more.

"What is it?" Netto shouted as he struggled to hear.

"Someone must have broken in!"

Rockman sprinted out of the room, running towards the stairs that led to the main hall. He noticed the front door completely ruined, but only one hole. Suddenly he saw a gigantic, well-muscled arm smash through the door, his gigantic figure that must have been three meters tall entering. A ridiculously imposing and muscular Navi walked slowly down the hall, he was dark purple from the suit to the head, and in many places he had spikes sticking out of his body. The blue Navi looked at him for a few seconds in terror as the other Navi looked around... Until he lifted his head and met his gaze, a mad grin on his face.

"Oh, you're here, and where is the other one?" He heard voice.

The boy-navi recoiled in horror and ran back to where his twin was. The latter had not moved, but looked at Rockman with wide eyes.

"What's… that?" He asked in a small voice.

The blue Navi swallowed his saliva, and looked at his brother with determination.

"We're leaving."

The boy with the bandana looked at him with shock as the other one approached with his back to him.

"But..."

"Come on!" Rockman replied in an authoritative voice. "We have to go! Get on my back, we'll be faster."

Netto nodded slowly, standing with difficulty and put his backpack on his shoulders. With the help of only one leg, he jumped up against his Navi's back as he helped him up. When Rockman asked him if everything was okay, the boy nodded.

The blue Navi sprinted out of the room and headed for the emergency stairs, but instead of going down, he climbed up to the roof. Netto looked around, especially at the gigantic dome of the Dimensional Area they were trapped in. He felt uneasy as he tightened his arms around his Navi. Rockman looked around, searching for a staircase that would make it easier to get down, while he could feel the tremors that indicated the enemy Navi was coming. But there were no stairs in sight.

The Navi boy looked at the building opposite and saw that it had stairs. At first he froze looking at the same point, in his head he was calculating. Netto, who did not understand why he had stopped, started to panic as he turned his head towards the door.

"R-rockman?"

Rockman looked at him confidently.

"Do you trust me, Netto?"

The poor boy nodded quickly, mainly because he wanted to get out of here as soon as possible. Rockman held him tightly and then turned around to gain momentum. Netto looked at him, wondering what he was doing, and it wasn't until he turned to face the building that he realized.

"No Rockman!" He shouted as he tightened his hands against the Navi.

But he did not listen, he ran quickly and finally jumped. The time in the air gave Netto's heart a jolt, ready to stop at any moment. But in the end, Rockman managed to get his foot on the roof of the building and landed almost on his knees. He turned his head and noticed how his little brother was shaking.

"We did it, everything is fine."

Netto forced himself to smile.

"I would have done better with my rollerblades."

Rockman pouted and stood up. He made his way to the outer staircase of the building and hurried down. Once on the ground, he set off in the direction of the city, quite far from the colossus he had seen.

"Where do we go from here?" Netto asked as he was shaken on Rockman's back.

"Anywhere is safe!"

Netto frowned, unsure of what he was saying. They couldn't go home, that would be too easy a target. He looked around and noticed that they were back in Densan City, the people around them still frozen. Rockman noticed them, he looked at them with surprise. Then he noticed something else that made him stop.

"Why are all these people looking at us?"

The boy's hands were tightening around the Navi.

"It's me they're looking at."

The green-eyed boy looked at him out of the corner of his eye, probably waiting for an explanation. Netto looked away, almost ashamed.

"I don't understand what happened... I got angry at my class and since then everyone has been like this."

Rockman looked again at the people who had stopped moving. It was almost stressful to see how the world had frozen in on itself, and looking at the person responsible for this incident.

"I bugged the script on the radio. Yeah, exactly." Repeated the boy against the Navi, Galaad's words in a sarcastic tone. "Indeed, all eyes are on me." He lifted his head to look at the people around.

Rockman remained silent, but concentrated on the last sentence he had just said. He was almost certain that this sentence had some hidden meaning. He looked at the people too, his eyes following Netto's movements. No, it couldn't be only that. His green eyes lifted a little higher, and noticed also, surveillance cameras, pointing at them as well. He felt a shiver down his spine as he realized what was happening. The cameras... all the cameras are connected. And that's why those two Navis had found him, SciLabs were full of surveillance cameras. They now knew where they had to go.

Rockman started to speed up again to find a way out of the city, which shocked his operator, who had not said anything until then.

"What are you doing?"

"The cameras..." He managed to point out, trying to remain calm even though he was running down the street.

"What?"

"The cameras are watching us!"

This made the young NetOp's eyes widen in terror.

"Where are we going then?"

"We have to go to an area where we can't be seen!"

"In Okuden Valley?"

"That's a good idea." Rockman nodded.

Rockman's steps were much slower since they entered Okuden Valley. The abundant nature surrounding him was relaxing to the Navi who was stressed by everything happening. He looked around hoping to find a place where he could keep his younger brother safe, but Netto had been pouting ever since they had arrived here.

"Great, now we don't even know where we're going to take shelter." He commented with little enthusiasm.

"We'll find out eventually." Rockman said as he put his twin on his back properly.

"If we'd taken the tent, we'd be able to stop anywhere, but other than that we'll find nothing."

Rockman didn't answer, the boy with the bandana seemed to be in a rather negative state now that they had to avoid comfortable places. He looked around at the forest they were in. He couldn't lose hope, he had to find something, especially for his brother.

"It's almost dark, and we don't even know what might be here..." The boy continued to lament.

This almost made the blue Navi laugh.

"Being here makes me feel a little better." Added the older brother. "In the city, we had a better chance of being found, whereas here nobody will see us."

The boy on his back did not answer and only sighed. He rested his head against his Navi's back.

"Do we even have a plan?"

Still looking at the horizon, Rockman smiled fondly.

"Number one, find a place where you'll be safe. Number two, investigate this program a little more and number three, make it stop for good."

He looked out of the corner of his eye to his brother who looked quite annoyed.

"Yes I know... When you put it like that, it sounds simple."

"Why is the priority to make me safe?"

"You're injured Netto..."

The boy in orange frowned in annoyance at those words.

It wasn't long before the duo found what appeared to be a small cottage. Rockman was excited, while Netto had a bad feeling about it.

"Rockman, we're probably going to someone's house..." Netto said in a meek voice.

"We don't have much else of a choice. And if the whole world is frozen, the owners won't chase us away."

The boy with the bandana did not respond to these words, and they entered the wooden house. At first glance, it was rather quiet and old-fashioned. The wood creaked as Navi's boots passed over it. He let his brother off his back and onto a sofa he saw and walked away.

"I'm going to see if there are any cameras here, just in case."

Netto had settled down on the sofa. He took off his shoes and looked at his left leg, the wound still hidden by a white bandage. He clenched his hands at the sight of his injury. He pressed the spot lightly and winced, it still hurt like hell. He decided to turn his attention to the room he was in. Wooden walls and floor, apart from a cathode ray TV and some objects he had seen in old magazines, it was a really old house. The boy in blue came back, seeming to be rather calm.

"No cameras, and no sign of the owners, we're both safe."

He joined Netto and sat down next to him, looking first at his left leg and then at his face.

"How do you feel?"

Netto looked away from him.

"Pretty exhausted."

Rockman smiled sadly, but reassured him.

"You can rest here."

If Netto was about to answer, he was cut off by a strange sound, a gurgling noise. He blushed slightly as Rockman looked at his stomach.

"First, I'm hungry."

"But you've already eaten biscuits at the office."

"I need my evening meal!"

The injured boy got up from the sofa and limped to the kitchen. Rockman panicked and joined him.

"Netto sit down, you have to let your leg rest!"

But Netto didn't listen to him. Clinging to various surfaces, he approached some cupboards looking for something.

"I can't rest if I don't eat something!"

He opened a cupboard and saw numerous tins, a bunch of them. This almost made the boy's eyes widen with surprise.

"Tins of food?" He said as he picked one up. "The guy who lived here, was he preparing for the end of the world?"

He looked at a can of ravioli and sat down at the kitchen table, finding some cutlery in a nearby drawer. Rockman watched him struggle to open the can, although he eventually succeeded. He took his fork and picked a ravioli from the tin, then shoved it in his mouth. The Navi watched as he made a strange face.

"Gross." Was all he said.

Rockman moved closer, smiling at what he had just seen.

"If you don't cook them, they're bound to be no good."

But Netto lowered his head in shame.

"I... I don't know how to use a hotplate... Especially if it's gas." He glanced at the hob, which was not like the one at home.

Rockman looked at the plate in question, it wasn't an electric plate like the one Mum used, it didn't even have a port to plug a Navi into. He frowned and took a pan from a cupboard and moved closer to his younger brother.

"I'll cook them for you." He declared.

Netto was startled at what he said.

"You... But..." Her words were lost in her mouth.

"Sometimes at school, when I have nothing to do, I watch cooking videos." He scratched the back of his neck. "And then we've cooked curry together before!"

Netto froze. He definitely did not know what to say.

"Do you really watch cooking videos?"

Rockman nodded as if this was normal.

"There are lots of things I like to do that you don't know about."

"But... But... Why cooking?"

He shrugged his shoulders.

"It relaxes me, I like to see what we're able to do in the real world."

Netto looked a little more serious and a little sadder, he could see why now. He looked at the pan in the blue Navi's hand and sighed as he handed him the box of ravioli.

"Go ahead."

Rockman was delighted. He had stood at the hob for several minutes, Netto had watched him from a distance, he was just afraid the thing would explode. But all went well, he put the cooked ravioli back on a plate and handed it to his operator with a proud smile. The boy looked at his friend and finally at his plate and picked up a ravioli and put it in his mouth. His reaction was the same as the first bite.

"Gross."

Rockman's eyes widened, he was so full of disappointment that he almost shed tears of sadness. Then the orange boy held out his hand, trying to reassure him.

"No wait, it's not your cooking that's bad!"

He stopped and waited for an explanation.

"It's the basic ravioli that's bad, when you eat tins you can't expect it to be good!"

Rockman looked at him for a second and nodded, understanding what he meant. Netto took another bite and held the fork out to his Navi.

"Do you want a taste?"

Rockman looked at him, and then raised a hand as if you say "No thank you".

"I'll be fine, I can't eat anyway."

Netto put the fork in his already full mouth and asked again.

"But you haven't even tried, you never know!"

Rockman shook his head.

"We don't know what might happen if I 'swallow' something. Who knows, it might destroy my coding." He took a saddened breath. "Besides, I couldn't taste it anyways."

The boy with the bandana looked at him in pain. He looked at his plate and ate without saying another word, but the questions in his head began to spill out once more.

"And can you smell me?"

"Nope, and I can't feel anything either." He raised his hand, looking at Netto. "And I can't touch you either, I'll never know the warmth of your being."

As the conversation took on a depressing tone, Netto could feel that his brother was happy to be here, but sad that some of his senses and his human parts were taken away. Netto was obviously happy that he was there, but he was aware that this was not normal, just as at some point the giant dimensional zone would eventually shut down. There was finally a zone he could appear with and be together with him, but it had to be caused by an evil genius using Navis to hunt him.
Why else? Why could the Navi think he wasn't human?

He finally shook his head, none of it made sense anyway. He'd stopped paying attention to his surroundings and just continued to scarf down his ravioli. Rockman looked at him rather bewildered.

"Netto? What are you thinking about?"

He raised his head to look at him, his green eyes gleaming uncertainly.

"I... I was just thinking about that Navi." He leaned his back against the seat. "He was wondering what I was."

Rockman shrugged.

"As for me, the other Navis think I'm a virus… Anyway, we know what we are, right? That's the most important thing."

Netto nodded. He finished his plate and yawned. Now he could feel the tiredness creeping up on him. His brother helped him into the bedroom. There was a square bed for two, and Netto dropped onto it. For a moment he lay still on his stomach as his Navi looked at him, but eventually he got up and removed his jacket and socks and got into the sheets. Stretching, he looked at the boy in blue who had not moved, just observing him. He made a small tap beside him, asking him to come there.

"Aren't you going to bed?" Netto asked, still patting beside him.

Not knowing what to say, Rockman moved closer and sat down next to him. Netto took off his bandana and put it on a bedside table. He sank into the pillow. Closing his eyes, he smiled.

"It's funny to think that all of this really happened." He opened his eyes and looked at his brother who continued to watch him with the same look. "Can you dream with me?"

Rockman nodded and let his head rest against his pillows, staring at the ceiling.

"Good night Rockman."

He turned his head towards his brother.

"Good night..."

He looked at the ceiling again. It wasn't that he didn't want to sleep, it was mostly because he didn't feel tired. He didn't really need to sleep unless he felt his hit points were low, but right now he was in good shape. But he could still dream. Forever he had this dream of being with Netto in reality, and now it came true. He just smiled, even if it wasn't everything he'd hoped it would be, he was happy to be right there with his brother, something that hadn't happened in eleven years now. He then closed his eyes and fell asleep.
