Chapter 23:
Today was the big day! She was finally going to marry the man of her dreams! Standing in front of the full body mirror, looking at herself, she truly was excited for today.
"You are a very beautiful woman, you know that?" Came a too familiar voice from behind her. A voice she believed to never hear from again. "Pete?".
"Hey, Sam.".
"W-what are you doing here?".
"I heard of the marriage, and I figured I could come here to see you finally with the guy that you were looking for.".
There was no jealousy in his voice, nor anger, in fact, he seemed like if he was completely okay.
"Why?".
"I don't know, it just, seemed like a good idea at the time.".
The door then flung open, and Aiden in his tuxedo marches in, out of breath. "Mom, you're up in fifty mississippi's.
Pete stood there shocked, did this teen just called his ex… MOM!?
"Oh, hello." Aiden said as he returned his attention to Sam. "Forty-five Mississippi's, come on!". He leaves without looking back.
"Did… did he just!?" Pete was confused, he had no idea what to say.
"I'll explain later." Sam reassured and made her way to the aisle.
And there he was, alone, looking like an idiot.
"I'll never understand the SGC!".
Jack was nervous, he was fiddling with his tie for the past three minutes now, Daniel tries to keep him positive, Teal'c was 100% sure that Sam will show up. "There is no need to be distressed O'Neill, Colonel Carter will not abandon you.".
And… right on queue, she comes down the aisle, with General Hammond to walk her down.
Jack had to fight in order to prevent his jaw from dropping, for she was irresistible! He thought that Sarah was beautiful at his first wedding, Sam was a thousand times that!
Aiden stood right next to Teal'c, and he was smirking. "Damn, aunt Janet really knows how to pick a dress.".
Hayes, after offering, was the wedding officiator, when Sam was right next to Jack, he the begun: "Please take hands." He clears his throat before continuing, "We are gathered here today, to celebrate the union between Jonathan O'Neill and Samantha Carter, who gives her away today?".
Hammond stood tall, the stars on his uniform casting a reflection over the crowd, "I do.".
Jack was sweating underneath his uniform, this was the big day, the day he has been dreaming for the past eight years. He almost missed it when Hayes said that the rings had to be exchanged.
Jack took the ring and placed it onto Sam's finger.
"With this ring, a symbol of my vow and devotion to you. I promise to love and cherish you, and not even death will draw us apart.".
Sam took the other ring and placed it on Jack's finger.
"This ring, is a symbol of my vow and devotion to you, I promise to love and cherish you, and not even death will draw us apart.".
Hayes smiles as he prepares for the pronouncement.
"By the power invested in, I now pronounce you, husband and wife.".
Sam shoves the flowers into Hayes' arms and kisses Jack with all that she was worth. While Aiden merely covers his face with his hand, mainly to hide the tears.
Even Teal'c started tearing up. Daniel immediately told everyone to get ready.
The military personnel all stood ready to form a pathway. They were all wearing their ceremonial uniforms, Hammond with his white gloved hand over the sword on his hip. "Swords! Unsheathe! Form! Arch! Swords! Face to the wind!".
And on command, the swords were unsheathed, pointed to form an arch, and turned for the blade to point to the wind.
"For the first time in public! Mr. and Mrs. O'Neill!".
And here comes Sam and Jack, arms locked together as they walk down the path formed for them. Daniel, who wasn't Military, stood on the sideline. Watching. Teal'c, watching, Janet and Cassie, watching.
Aiden, crying and watching. Only for Harriman to place a hand on the teen's, who was equal in height with him, shoulder. "Happy tears?".
"Yeah, you said it. You said it.".
