Donut Friendship – Chapter 17: Help Wanted
Inside Muzan's headquarters, a meeting was taking place.
„I'M SORRY! I'M SORRY! I'M SORRY! PLEASE FORGIVE M-AHHHHHHH!" screamed one of his employees as Muzan kicked him out of the window
Everyone else in the room just stared at him and waited for his instructions.
"…"
"…"
"You have failed me…" said Muzan as he calmed down and glanced at his employees
"…I have… nothing to say for myself…" said Kokushibo
"Well… I was never good at detective work… haha…" said Doma with a smile
Muzan slowly walked back to his chair and sat down.
"Why do I even employ you, if you can't follow simple instructions." Muzan asked
Kokushibo tensed up and replied.
"That boy… he protects the secret recipe… But I promise you, that one day, I will get it." said Kokushibo
Muzan looked at him.
"And what day is that going to be?" Muzan asked
"I don't know…" Kokushibo replied
"Well, I do. It's this Friday. If I don't have the secret recipe in 5 days… then you're fired." Muzan replied
Hearing that, Kokushibo tensed up even more, and he was almost shaking.
"I… I understand…" he replied
"Good. Now leave." said Muzan, to which Kokushibo nodded and left
"Anyway! It was a nice meeting! Looking forward to the next one!" said Doma with a smile as he waved at Muzan and slowly turned around
"Where are you going." asked Muzan
"Huh… Well… the meeting is over. So I am going back to-" as Doma was replying, Muzan cut him off
"You will stay. There is still something I need to discuss with you." Muzan said with a murderous expression
"Haha… I am dead…" Doma murmured to himself

Outside the room, Muzan's lower ranked employees were waiting.
"Ehm… so… how are you liking your new job, Rui?" Mukago asked
"It's nice." replied Rui, while looking at his phone
"T-That's good to hear! I was very happy when I heard that you were going to work here too!" Mukago replied with a smile
"Yeah…" Rui replied again, without glancing at her
Next to the two, was also Kaigaku.
"Oh man… I hope mister Kokushibo is alright. I heard some screams comming from the room…" he thought to himself
Nervous, Kaigaku thought about what might happen.
"If he gets fired… then I am sure to follow!" he thought to himself as he started shaking
As he was thinking, the door suddenly opened and Kokushibo walked out.
"AH! Mister Kokushibo! What did-" as he was speaking, Kokushibo cut him off
"You! Follow me. You two, get in there and clean the window. Let's go." he said as he pointed at Kaigaku and then the two next to him
"Y-Yes!" Kaigaku replied and got up
"Right away!" said Mukago
"Alright…" said Rui and put his phone down
Without looking back, Kokushibo walked to the exit door.
"Hey… where are we going? Hey! Wait up!" yelled Kaigaku as he followed Kokushibo

Inside Kokushibo's car, the two were plotting.
"WHAT!? IF WE DON'T BRING MASTER MUZAN THE SECRET RECIPE FOR THE DONUTS UNTIL FRIDAY, THEN YOU WILL GET FIRED!?" Kaigaku screamed
"Don't shout." said Kokushibo, as he hit Kaigaku's head with his fist
"Au… Sorry…" Kaigaku replied
"Anyway… it's true. Master Muzan told me that if we don't find the secret recipe, I lose my job…" Kokushibo explained
"Oh no…" Kaigaku replied
"And you will follow swiftly after that." Kokushibo added
"I know!" Kaigaku replied as he buried his head in his hands
"What are we going to do…" Kaigaku muffled in his hands
Taking a deep breath, Kokushibo was thinking. The two were sitting in his car outside the bakery. They could see a girl working inside the bakery, and it was the same one they met when they tried to get the secret recipe with Rui. After she finished serving a customer, she went to the backroom, leaving Kokushibo's sight. After a few seconds, she returned with a small sign in her hands. She went to the door of the bakery and put it up. Reading it, Kokushibo's eyes shot wide open.
"That's it!" he yelled
"Huh… what is it?" Kaigaku asked
"Get out of the car and follow me." Kokushibo replied and quickly got out
"Where are we going? W-Wait!" Kaigaku replied and got out too
Kokushibo was walking pretty fast, almost running, towards the bakery.
"What's going on?!" Kaigaku asked as he followed him
Kokushibo turned around and pointed at the door with the sign. Kaigaku noticed it now too.
HELP WANTED.
"We are going to apply for a job… that way, we can easily get to the secret recipe…" Kokushibo explained
"That's a great idea! But, we are two. Are they going to hire us both?" Kaigaku asked
"Only one way to find out." Kokushibo replied and went in

"Welcome!" Nezuko said with a smile
"Hello." said Kokushibi
"Hi." said Kaigaku
"Hmm?" looking at the two, Nezuko recognized them
"Ah! You two are working with Rui, right? I remember you!" Nezuko said with a smile
"Yes. He got the job, and he is working hard." Kokushibo replied
"That's great! Anyway, what can I get you?" Nezuko asked
"Well… we are not here to buy anything." Kokushibo replied
"We saw the HELP WANTED sign outside and wanted to apply." Kaigaku added
Nezuko looked at the two and scanned them with her eyes.
"Well, that's great, but… we wanted to hire only one person…"Nezuko replied
"We understand, then we will just-" Kokushibo replied, but Nezuko cut him off
"No! No! Wait! I am sure we can work something out, if I ask my mother! Please, wait here!" said Nezuko and went into the backroom
Kokushibo and Kaigaku looked at each other.
"Why do you think are they hiring now?" Kaigaku asked
"Don't know… maybe they get a lot of customers and need some help?" Kokushibo replied
After a minute, Nezuko returned with her mother.
"Oh…" the mother said surprised as she saw the two
"Good day." said Kokushibo
"Hello." said Kaigaku
The mother looked at them and smiled.
"Ehm… hello! My name is Kie Kamado…" said the mother
"My name is Kokushibo and this is my subo- I mean… friend... Kaigaku. It is a pleasure to meet you." said Kokushibo
"Same here." replied the mother and smiled
"So… Nezuko told me that you want to help us in the bakery?" the mother asked
"Yes, lady Kamado. It would be a great honor." Kokushibo replied
"Haha… thank you, but… I hope you don't mind me asking, but…" the mother asked awkwardly
"Mister Kokushibo… you look like a serious businessman. Why do you want to work at a bakery?" the mother asked
"And don't you have a job already?" Nezuko asked confused
"Ugh…!" Kokushibo murmured as he looked at himself
He was wearing his work suit, which made him look like a businessman. And Nezuko already knew that he had a job. This was bad.
"Well… you know… is this going to be a full time or a part-time job…" he asked
"Oh! It's going to be part time! My son told me that something happened at the academy and that he wouldn't have time to help in the bakery for the next few weeks…" the mother replied
"He is not here?! That's our chance!" Kokushibo thought to himself
While thinking about it, Kokushibo glanced at Kaigaku and noticed that he was nervous. It was clear that he was worried that their cover might get blown. Realizing that, Kokushibo faced the mother again.
"T-that's great! I mean… that it is a part-time job! And as your daughter said before, we are already employed full time." said Kokushibo, to which Kaigaku glanced at him
"But sadly, the pay isn't that good and both me and my friend were looking for something to do on the side… so we thought that we try our luck here…" Kokushibo explained
"Ah… that's…" the mother replied and Kokushibo waited for her response
"That's lovely!" the mother said with a smile
"Pfuh…" both Kokushibo and Kaigaku did a sigh of relief when they heard her
"You two look like reliable men! Can you start today?" the mother asked
"Sure!" Kaigaku said with a smile
"Alright! Please follow me. I need your signature! And after that, Nezuko will tell you what to do!" said the mother
Both nodded and followed her into the back room.
"We did it…" said Kokushibo with a victorious smile
"Yeah…" Kaigaku added with a sinister smile

"Ehm… Mister Kokushibo…?" said Kaigaku
"What." Kokushibo replied annoyed
"This… isn't what I had in mind…" said Kaigaku
"Me neither…" replied Kokushibo
The two were cleaning the floor and the glass of the shop. As it turned out, the bakery needed help regarding the cleaning, not the baking.
"How are we going to get the secret recipe if we do this kind of crap?!" Kaigaku asked
"We don't. We need to do something else. Wait here." said Kokushibo and went to Nezuko and her mother
Nezuko was working at the counter, while the mother was in the back.
"Is something wrong?" Nezuko asked
"Can I please speak with your mother?" Kokushibo asked
"Sure… she is in the back." said Nezuko and pointed to the door behind her
Kokushibo nodded and went in.
"Excuse me… lady Kamado?" said Kokushibo
"Ah! Mister Kokushibo! Is something the matter?" she asked with a smile
"Yes… ehm… there seems to be a misunderstanding." he said
"Hm?" the mother looked at him confused
"We thought that… you would need help with the baking, not cleaning." Kokushibo explained
"You know… cooking is my hobby. So that is why I applied." he added
"Oh… I am sorry… but we needed help with the cleaning… not the baking." the mother explained
"I understand… so there is no chance of helping with the baking?" Kokushibo asked
"I am sorry!" the mother replied with a smile
Kokushibo just looked at her, not knowing what to say.
"It's my mistake! I should have been more clear earlier!" said the mother
"NO, it's fine! I jumped to conclusions!" Kokushibo replied
The mother smiled.
"So… I take it that you don't want to continue…" said the mother
"I am sorry… well, we are sorry." said Kokushibo
"No problem, mister Kokushibo! I wish you and your friend the best of luck!" the mother replied
Kokushibo nodded and was about to leave.
"Mister Kokushibo, I feel bad for you coming all the way here for nothing! So, if you want to… I could show you a few tricks that I know… I could tell you how to make the best donuts ever for example!" said the mother
"Thank you, but I nee- WHAT DID YOU SAY?" Kokushibo quickly turned around, almost scaring the mother
"Oh! I am sorry. What did you say? Donuts?" Kokushibo asked
"Yes! My son, he took over the bakery and started making donuts! Everyone loves them, and he told me his secret recipe! So if you want, I could show you too!" the mother explained with a smile
Kokushibo just stared at her.
"YES PLEASE." he replied and faced her

Meanwhile, in the bakery…
"GRRR… Where is he… I have been cleaning here for 30 minutes now…!" murmured Kaigaku
Thankfully, the door opened and Kokushibo walked out.
"Finally… so how did it work out?" Kaigaku asked
"We're leaving." said Kokushibo
"Huh?! But what about…!" replied Kaigaku
"Thank you for your time." said Kokushibo as he looked at Nezuko
"Oh… y-yes! I wish you two good luck!" replied Nezuko, as she realized it
Kokushibo walked out of the store and Kiagaku followed him.
"What happened?! Do you have the secret recipe?!" Kaigaku asked
"…" Kokushibo didn't say anything, just walked towards his car
"Hey!" said Kaigaku as he followed him
Once inside the car, Kokushibo looked at Kaigaku.
"What is going on?!" Kaigaku asked
"I got it…" Kokushibo replied
"You do?! That's great! Mister Muzan will-" said Kaigaku but was cut off
"I saw her make the donuts… words cannot describe what I saw…" said Kokushibo
"W-What do you mean?" Kaigaku asked confused
"The way she moved the dough and her fingers… the way she smiled and talked… the way she was in control of the whole kitchen…" Kokushibo murmured
"…huh?" Kaigaku asked
"She made them… with love." Kokushibo explained
"…"
"…"
"… what the hell did you do with that woman?" Kaikagu asked concerned

Inside the bakery…
"Looks like we need to find somebody else to help us clean." said Nezuko
"Yes." her mother replied
"By the way, what did you do with that man back there?" Nezuko asked
"Oh, I just showed him my cooking and my love!" the mother replied
"Cool!" Nezuko replied
"…"
"…"
"Ehm… what do you mean by… love?" Nezuko asked as she was slowly turning her head while her smile was slowly disappearing
"Hihi." the mother just smiled and giggled
Nezuko just blinked a few times.
