Summary for Chapters 18 and 19

Kioshi is taken to an underground cell and is used for breeding. He is blindfolded and clamped down to a table by his ankles, wrists, and neck. He also has a draining seal placed on him that pulls his chakra out and stops it from reaching above civilian levels. When Kioshi tries to hold his chakra in with spiritual chakra, this allows him to gain a bit more energy, but a trigger seal reacts soon after. This causes great pain and only allows double a civilian amount of energy to be held. While this enables Kioshi to be able to make a few techniques briefly, it's not enough to escape.

Kioshi soon learns that he can bypass the trigger seal by storing his core's chakra in his dimensional realm. This is done by saving enough chakra to create a portal, quickly creating one within himself, and then scooping up a bit of energy. This causes him to go into the second stage of chakra exhaustion, but pure chakra, unlike techniques, can be used to fill his core. Only a small portal is required to save up enormous amounts of energy.

After almost a year, Kioshi has finally neared his goal for escape. Unfortunately, his captors become angry with him due to his apparent infertility. They catch him using energy and assume he is doing something to cause this. This causes Kioshi to be brutally tortured, having his jaw and all his limbs fractured, and his back and legs whipped. Greater humiliation and pain are also promised for any further interference. During this time Kioshi learns that Kumo is the one holding him captive and that the Uchiha massacre has occurred.

When Kioshi came back to reality, his body felt like it was on fire. He was clamped back down to the horizontal table in his cell again and everything hurt.

His back felt the worse. It stuck to the table as he tried to shift slightly in position, the lashes there oozing and burnt. Kumo must have cauterized the injuries to avoid further blood loss.

This method of closing wounds was cruel and unnecessary. Almost every medical ninja with basic experience knew how to speed up the natural healing process. The fresh muscle cuts could have easily been closed with some effort. It seemed like, however, that Kumo had gone the medieval route.

His knee and elbow joints also pulsed in pain. Those places hadn't been attended to properly either.

Three people could be felt in the room. One aura was new, and the other two were Ren and the leading male medical ninja. From the sounds and location, the lead healer was changing out his IV bag.

It was probably to insert some cleansing fluids to flush some chemicals out. His brain felt drugged. They must have kept him under for some time. Why this had been necessary, Kioshi didn't know, but he was grateful for it. Considering the "healing" process of his back, the drugs had been a mercy.

Ren was fiddling with something to the other side. Whatever it was, the action jostled a tube that could be felt going into his nose. The accessory was new. Swallowing, it felt like the hollow plastic went down his throat.

It was likely a feeding tube.

The addition made sense. It would take a lot of time to heal his fractured jaw, and he and Tsunade were probably the only people who could properly do it. Normal eating would be painful, if not impossible for now.

His attention turned to the new person in the room. There was a high density of spiritual chakra surrounding them, but not as strong as the torturer. When he focused on the energy, strong irritation could be felt.

"You should inform the boy of the rules," the presence said. "He's starting to move his aura out of its natural form."

The medical leader immediately tensed. He reached down and grabbed Kioshi's fractured elbow, squeezing harshly. "Stop it!" He hissed. "You have already caused me enough trouble!"

Kioshi stiffened in an arch at the infliction, trying to keep a scream down and his face muscles relaxed. His throat was dry and sore. It would be painful to aggravate it. His jaw also couldn't take the tension.

"From now on you are forbidden to use any type of chakra!" the medical man instructed. "Leave both your core and aura alone. If you fail to comply, we will send you to our lead torturer for another round. Understand!?"

Kioshi was shaking with a bit of sweat, willing the man to let go.

"UNDERSTAND!" The man repeated, gripping the broken appendage with even more pressure. Apparently, an answer was expected.

Kioshi grunted jerkily with a small nod, hoping the response would be enough.

"Good." The man said. "You will be watched closely to make sure of it. Don't test our patience. We won't be as forgiving next time."

000000000

Days passed, and during that time, Kioshi fell into a depressed state, barely aware or caring about the things around him. The hope that had kept his sanity intact for so long was now gone.

He'd messed up. He should have tried to escape at the first sign of hostility.

Now all his past efforts had been rendered useless. All his limbs were broken, making movement impossible.

To escape on his own, he'd need to heal himself, which would unlikely be allowed, or he'd need to hold his bones together physically with chakra. The last was a high-level body enhancement technique that had to be constantly maintained. It was only used in emergencies by ninjas due to its high energy consumption.

Kumo was one of the farthest countries away from Konoha. He didn't have enough chakra stored to travel such a distance in such a way, let alone fight against any opposition. He'd need to at least double his current energy to make escape feasible.

The thought of staying in this place another year, however, was too much to bear. He'd been so close! Freedom had been within reach, and now he was slapped back to the beginning. Not only that, but a sensor's thick aura was now on him constantly, watching for any movement. It would be impossible to take further action.

Death seemed to be the only way out. As long as the sensor allowed him to gather enough chakra, suicide could be committed with a condensed burst of chakra to the brain. Better yet, he could send chakra scalpels through both his eyes first as a parting gift.

It would be what the Raikage deserved.

But would such a thing be allowed? He'd need to resist the draining seal enough to gather the chakra required to perform the technique. It wouldn't take much, but the sensor would likely inflict pain, or knock him out by then.

He had no doubt that they were watching closely for any self-mutilation. It's what they had accused him of before, and recent events would cause anyone's spirits to fade. Suicide was the next logical course of action for a loyal ninja.

But even if it was possible, did he even want to? With help or more thought, escape might still be possible, and his life wasn't the only one at stake. What about Lixin? The man's wife had been pregnant when they had left. The baby was likely born now and would need a father. And what about the sailors? Each of them had lives and families as well.

Then there was Itachi and Sasuke. Kioshi had failed the Uchihas. He'd fail them even more by abandoning them now. One was likely in an extreme state of self-loathing and guilt, and the other was likely to go down the path of hatred and vengeance. The massacare couldn't be changed, but there had to be a way to help people move past it. With time and influence, Itachi might even be able to return to the village. Not everything was lost. There were still some things he could prevent from happening.

Kioshi also admitted to himself that he didn't truly want to die. This world sucked at the moment, but there were still so many more things that he wanted to explore and experience. He couldn't give up. This was a test of determination. There was always a solution if you looked hard enough.

Right now the sensor was the next block to conquer. If the guard could be deceived then Kioshi could continue storing chakra. Then time would be the only issue.

But how? Kioshi only knew how to hide physical techniques. Against a sensor, this would only make his portal creation less obvious. Spiritual chakra would still be felt, which would outline that something was being concealed.

To conceal spiritual chakra, a person needed to seal it inside something that was even harder to detect. As far as he was aware, no one in the elemental nations could do it, at least, no human could…

The thought made his mind travel to Shaed. Over the past few years, he'd gathered many suspicions about the cat. Thanks to Kioshi, the creature was now known nationwide to have the most valuable blood in the whisper clan, so many tried to obtain it.

Emi had been sent on three such missions due to her knowledge of the cat's scent. She'd complained that the creature was impossible to find, even with her and an elite sensor working together.

This should be impossible. The only two explanations were that Shaed had become a total recluse, recent movements never crossing any predicted paths, or that the whisper cat could simply hide both his scent and spiritual chakra at the same time.

Kioshi betted on the last. In fact, he was almost certain of it. Shaed had visited him twice since they'd met each other, and both times the cat had visited within the village. Surely, Emi would have smelt the scent on him if it had been present. And Kioshi couldn't sense the cat spiritually.

Maybe Shaed could seal spiritual chakra within mental chakra? Mental chakra was the next level down in tier. It couldn't be felt, even by sensors. Mental mastery would also explain Shade's mind-reading abilities. The cat never said that it was a bloodline…

Kioshi wished he'd asked Shaed more about the subject instead of getting sidetracked with random philosophies. The information would be really useful right now. It could be the key to getting out of his current predicament.

Further punishment would be detrimental, so mistakes had to be avoided. Pain and humiliation aside, more injuries would mean the need for more chakra. More chakra meant more time, which was something in short supply. He'd already wasted enough wallowing in depression. Once Kumo found out he was truly useless, they'd discard him.

Okay, he just needed to think through this logically. It was theorized that mental chakra was created and controlled by focus, will, and imagination. These things naturally resided in people at different levels.

Shaed theorized that personality, intelligence, and fortitude were present at one's birth, it being something that was shaped and created through many lives of experience. These experiences were usually forgotten but would be there subconsciously.

Whether a soul's strength and choices were based on age or simply having certain experiences at certain times was unimportant. Kioshi just hoped he'd have enough fortitude to excel now.

Imagination and focus were two of his best strong suits. These things could be strengthened through meditation. Kioshi started calming and cycling his thoughts, letting the pain and everything else in the room fade away. The sensor was his only focus. If he could find a way to read thoughts, then that might be a sign of being able to detect mental chakra. If mental chakra could be detected, then it could be more easily controlled and manipulated.

This could do one or two things. One, mental chakra could be used to deceive or distract an enemy's mind, or two, mental chakra could be used to seal spiritual chakra from detection.

Both would be useful towards his desired goal. Kioshi didn't know which would be easier, but it was best to start with mindbending. It would be safer to test. Mental illusions could be natural and unassuming. Concealing, however, left no room for failure.

Kioshi spent the next few weeks trying to feel the sensor's mental chakra. During this time, medical ninjas would visit, extracting what they desired and keeping him in basic physical condition.

The last was done with chakra. His muscles had to be stimulated to keep them from atrophying to dangerous levels, and his blood was thinned to prevent blood clots. His bed sores and infections were also healed before becoming too serious.

The wounds themselves, however, were left alone. This caused the bones to heal incorrectly, and stomach cramps and diarrhea to become a plague due to his inability to process solid food.

At least meditation helped relieve the majority of the pain and discomfort. He could now fade into a deep subconscious state, one that was peaceful and free of body sensation. As he moved further from himself, he started to be able to feel the things around him in greater detail.

After three weeks of dedication, he finally made a breakthrough. Focusing deeply on outside elements, he started to feel faint sparks of energy within the sensor's brain. It was nothing like anything he had felt before which gave Kioshi hope that he was on the right track.

Two more weeks passed, and Kioshi's attunement to mental chakra grew stronger and stronger. Force, frustration, and anxiety hindered progress, so he had to be patient. This was hard at times considering the time limit, but Kioshi persevered.

After another week, Kioshi made another breakthrough. Mental chakra was a lot like spiritual chakra. The more you condensed it, the more you could detect. Kioshi was finally able to gather enough energy to detect recognizable information. Instead of a feeling, however, the information was transmitted through dream-like images and sounds.

This was exactly how Shaed had described!

Kioshi focused on the sensor ninja currently on guard. Kioshi saw flashes of a bar drink, a bed, and… something else more carnal. Vague comfort could be felt along with the images. Apparently, the man was tired and wanted his shift to be over.

Kioshi grinned internally. The weeks of constant meditation were paying off! He was taping into the man's imagination! Now all he needed to learn was how to change and manipulate the images and feelings.

For the next few days, Kioshi tried to cast a genjutsu on the sensors that rotated through watch shifts. Unlike most times, however, it was done solely with mental chakra. The mental chakra had to be extremely dense to have any effect. It took every ounce of concentration.

On the fourth day, one finally shifted uncomfortably. Success! The guards usually stayed still unless necessary. Movement meant the genjutsu was working. More force was put into it, and the man finally acquiesced to the irritating itch, rustling the fabric of his clothes with scratching fingers.

No punishment or words followed afterward. The sensation appeared to be believed to be natural.

So much happiness rose up from this that Kioshi almost smiled. Luckily, the action was stopped in time. The attempt wouldn't feel good with his current mouth structure, and the last thing he needed was to draw attention.

None of his watchers were elite sensors, so deception was easy as long as external expressions were controlled. They believed him to be defeated and broken. This illusion needed to continue. If it was discovered that the stillness and lack of reaction were actually from meditation, they might try to prevent the action. Meditation and training often went hand in hand.

Another week passed, and Kioshi decided to try to start chakra absorbing again. It was a big risk, but time was not a luxury. Every day was a day closer to death or further retaliation.

His heart clenched in apprehension. A lot of things would need to be performed at once to be successful. Due to the fact that there still might be chakra-detecting machines in the room, Kioshi was going to have to surround his wisps and portals with both spiritual and mental chakra. While doing this, he'd also need to keep watch of the sensor's thoughts to see if any energy was being detected.

Mental genjutsu was another necessity. To truly go undetected, not only would chakra techniques need to be hidden, but the lack of chakra as well. Chakra draining seals constantly immitted out a stream of a prisoner's chakra. If this stopped, it would be a dead giveaway.

Hopefully, all this multitasking would be possible.

A deep breath was taken, and Kioshi began the process, slowly pulling energy from his aura while casting a mental alternate illusion. It was good that resisting a draining seal was second nature now, because concentration would be needed elsewhere. He also had extensive experience with normal genjutsu and was a sensor, so he knew exactly what to project.

Kioshi kept up a mental illusion of normal reality, while he saved chakra, made a portal, and stored energy. All this was done while sealing the technique from detection with mental chakra.

After the process was complete, silence reigned. Kioshi's heart raced a mile a minute. This was the first time he'd tried concealment. He'd put every ounce of energy into it, and despite his exhaustion, he waited in apprehension to see if he would be discovered. No punishment followed….

000000000

Months passed and Kioshi started storing chakra daily again. Mental genjutsu was becoming easier and easier to perform as time passed. His mind was getting stronger due to the constant daily pressure.

Hope began to rise as months passed without incident. The chakra stored in his dimensional realm was nearing the level of a tailed beast. Only a bit more and he'd be out of here.

As he got closer to his goal, his anxiety grew. He worried history would repeat itself. Depleting his chakra made him helpless, and would leave him open to any further retaliation. But it was the only way to absorb the necessary chakra. The risk had to be taken.

Thankfully, no increased hostility had been shown yet, so this granted some peace. It wasn't like last time. Suspicious, Kioshi had started to read the medical ninjas' minds at every visit.

The reason for contentment was soon confirmed. The leading healer mentally projected blurry images of two women. Both had bulging stomachs. The stomachs had been seen the clearest, the location the thing of focus in the man's mind. It seemed like the healer had been put in charge of a few examinations.

The man thinking of this during extractions was no coincidence. It seemed that his infertility wasn't a solid fact after all.

The thought made Kioshi angry, happy, and terrified all at the same time. This experience wasn't going to be something that could just be forgotten and left behind. There were lasting consequences.

Judging by the size of the women's stomachs, they'd gotten pregnant not long after Kioshi had been tortured. That saved him some scrutiny, but now there were more lives to think about. Could he really leave the children behind?

Yes. There was no other choice. Escape would be hard enough as it was. Something could always be done about it in the future.

Little did Kioshi know that escape would happen sooner than expected….

000000000

Kioshi was two months away from his goal of ten core amounts when it happened. The door to his cell opened and two medical ninjas walked in. It was the usual time for a visit, so this didn't cause concern at first. They did a few minor healings, fed him, and then let him relieve himself.

Worry only started to form when two more figures arrived. These two had a gate of combat ninjas, the steps being much more silent and graceful. The sensor on duty moved the side, letting one of the new presences kneel down below the table. Strong resisting bolts were then heard being turned by hand, the influx of chakra making the task possible.

"You are being moved," the leading medical man said softly in his ear. "Your sensor guard will accompany us. Don't make any movements in your chakra or you will be severely punished. Understand?"

Kioshi turned his head up slight acknowledgment. For many months, he'd kept up the act of a model prisoner, never resisting and answering and obeying orders politely. Afterward, however, Kioshi quickly fell into meditation to quickly scan the man's mind.

Why was this happening? What was the reason for the change?

What he found wasn't encouraging. Thoughts were rapid and dreamlike, but it was obvious something surgical was about to happen. Most thoughts were of certain medical procedures and a medical room.

The image of a gouged-out eye confirmed the current intention.

Kioshi's heart beat faster, breaking out of his meditative state. This was it. They were going to take his eyes. Escape needed to happen today if ever. Once his eyes were gone, no portals could be created. This would cut off all access to his stored chakra.

Kioshi stayed still as his IV and feeding tube were removed. This would only make escape easier. Kioshi also decided to wait until he was removed from the room. The more aware he could get of the surroundings, the better. Given the fact that he'd been warned to stay complacent during the transfer, drugs didn't seem to be an immediate threat. Mapping out the outside enemies and surroundings beforehand would be a boon. It was worth the risk.

The two combat ninjas lifted the table slab up, removing it from its legs. They then carried it and the boy secured to it out of the room.

Passing the cell's spiritual barrier was a breath of fresh air. Hopefully, it was a permanent farewell. Things could now be sensed in a larger area. The medical ninja had said he couldn't make movements in his chakra. He never said that he had to prevent it from expanding to its natural size.

His aura spread out in every direction once outside of the restriction. Now it was confirmed that he was indeed underground. Small crawling life forms could be felt extended in the dirt.

They carried him down a hallway, passed what felt to be a monitoring area due to fluctuations of technology, and into another room. This was much larger place. It was also much brighter. The usual black of his blindfold had turned slightly red due to the light penetration.

The slab Kioshi was clamped to was set and bolted down, carts being repositioned around the area afterward.

No one spoke while doing this. The motions seemed repetitive or well planned. Once one of the healers started searching for a vein in his arm, Kioshi knew he had to act. He didn't know what was about to be inserted, but any anesthetic couldn't be allowed. Unconsciousness would spell disaster at this point.

Most of the personnel on this floor were within the room, so things were perfect. It was better to take everyone out at once. Surprise was his ally. There wouldn't be a better time.

Kioshi had gone through the plan a hundred times. To be successful, he'd need to start out with a distraction. This would stop instant retaliation. Once he was free from the seal and bonds, then a fight could really break loose.

There was only one sensor in the room, so Kioshi went into meditation and focused pure mental energy on the figure. A painful migraine projection was sent, making the sensor see white and stumble against the wall. While the rest of the ninjas focused on this, Kioshi made a red wisp and sent it into his core.

He linked the wisp to the long bubble of pure chakra in his dimensional realm he'd been creating for two years. There was slight reluctance in doing this. It would be sad to see the hard work go, but it was necessary.

Twisting the bubble-linked wisp into a portal, charka started to shoot out into his core in small rabid bursts like a machine gun, the energy merging with it and quickly building it back into a large powerful ball.

The trigger seal soon activated as his core grew past the acceptable prisoner level, but Kioshi focused through the pain, holding in chakra until there was enough to make a plate-sized portal. He then absorbed both the draining seal and the trigger seal attached to it one go.

The freedom was like a drug. Kioshi eagerly continued to work towards more.

Making five dime-sized portals, Kioshi cut through the metal clamps securing his ankles, wrist, and neck to the table.

By this time the combat ninjas had realized an escape was being attempted and flashed over to him. It was too late though. Kioshi core was already half full. This gave him the power to blast the attackers away in a forceful chakra wave.

Both ninjas crashed into opposing walls, making cracked indents in the stone. The healers caught in the wave weren't so lucky. Due to the lack of body enhancement, they were all crushed on impact. Kioshi felt some remorse towards the death of Ren and the other healer who had been reluctant in this whole affair, but this was no time to hold back. It was still their decision to be here. This was a reaction, not an attack.

Knowing that the window of surprise would soon close, Kioshi quickly wrapped both of his knees with chakra, breaking the improperly healed bones and holding the separated pieces together with condensed energy. Thankfully chakra was a natural painkiller, because even with it, the process was almost unbearable.

Kioshi left his elbows and jaw injured and mangled. The emergency chakra technique was draining, and if things went according to plan, the appendages wouldn't be needed. He was below his quota, so energy had to be saved at all costs.

Chakra was fused into his muscles to allow him to sit up. Balance was hard to find, but with chakra, he was able to strengthen himself and adapt.

Spiritual chakra was then sent out to scan for any approaching enemies. The combat ninjas showed fluctuations of unconsciousness, so they were left to rest.

Kioshi stood and took a few staggering steps, getting used to the motion, and then slowly picked up speed, moving down the hall.

Chakra flared around him to detect solid objects. Sight wasn't a luxury at the moment. Removing a blindfold after two years would be painful and overstimulating. It was at times like this that other sense training showed worth.

An elevator shaft was detected off the side. Kioshi blasted through the doors and ran up the vertical hole with great speed. A portal could have been used to tunnel out, but the energy expenditure, thankfully, was unnecessary.

An alarm must have been raised because there was frantic movement above. A strong security barrier then flashed into existence, surrounding the 50-foot shaft. It was an S-rank physical barrier. The amount of energy flaring was staggering. It must have taken many strong ninjas or a great amount of time to charge such a thing.

Kioshi would be dammed if he let this stop him though. He created a large purple portal and burrowed through the monstrous energy. Knowing what would likely come next, Kioshi then made another purple portal behind him. This one was interconnected. Before leaving the operation room, he'd sent a large red wisp out away from this place at great speed. It wasn't quite out of the city yet, but it was good enough.

The powerful barrier reacted as expected. After being relieved of a portion of itself, it destabilized and exploded in a massive wave of power. Kioshi jumped through the back side of the interconnected portal he'd created, the front side blocking the initial wave of energy as the ground disappeared and the ceiling collapsed above him.

He landed out on a street a mile away. Destruction, injury, and death could be sensed in this location as well. Painful groans of civilians and the cry of a child were heard. Kioshi grimaced. He'd forgotten that the interconnected portal would transfer the barrier blast out its other side. He should have made it horizontal to point the blast to the sky.

There wasn't time to morn over the mistake now though. Fast-moving ninjas could be sensed heading in his direction.

Ignoring the terrified screams, Kioshi pushed chakra into his muscles and flashed through the city at full speed. This was definatily Kumo. The village was split up into large sections, only being connected by narrow bridges. Below such bridges were hundreds of meters of air.

Not wanting to be blocked or surrounded, Kioshi dismissed the idea of stairs and took the quick approach, simply jumping off one of the bridges and letting gravity take hold. Kumo was high up on a mountain peak. It was a long fall down. To avoid smaller mountains, Kioshi jetted small amounts of energy out of his body like thrusters. It was another technique that had been copied from Shaed.

When the ground neared, Kioshi made two horizontal interconnected portals, one of which he fell into. The red one that he came out of was flipped in the opposite direction, which caused him to shoot up the mountain again. Gravity quickly slowed down his momentum, and he gripped the rock surface with chakra on the soles of his feet, and started to run down and along its face.

Kumo must have been in a panic because no ninjas could be felt trailing him. The situation was probably not fully understood and orders had yet to be given.

Kioshi didn't let this slow his speed though. He rushed through mountain valleys and slopes at full capacity, heading in what he hoped to be southwest. This would take him to the ocean. He'd studied maps of Kumo, so he knew the basic layout.

Kioshi briefly lifted his blindfold to check the sun's position. His eyes squinted painfully while doing so, but the brief flash of the sun at the crest of the mountains gave him vital information. The light got brighter and brighter as time continued, indicating that the horizon's light had been that of the morning. This confirmed the current direction. The sun was in the correct eastern position.

Upon reaching the ocean, Kioshi was down ⅓ of his saved chakra. This was equal to three times his core level. Only six core amounts were left. As day turned to night, he continued to run, afraid of the alerted patrols or other pursuits behind.

Speed and distance were valued over stealth. It was good to take advantage of the surprise and get to allies as quickly as possible. A lot of chakra also had to be expelled to stay functional and moving, so this would make it very hard not to leave a trail.

The entire next day was spent traveling along the coast. He stayed on water a few miles off land to avoid interference but was close enough to determine different port cities. This was done by examining population sizes and positions through other people's auras.

Once he reached a certain port in hot water country, he made a beeline for it, continuing past it in a straight line. This would take him directly to Konoha.

Kioshi debated holding up in someplace different for a time. Kioshi was extremely tired. His mind was in a fog. It took every ounce of will to keep going. Konoha's reaction on his return was also a dangerous unknown, and if things continued as they were, he'd be completely helpless on arrival. He might even collapse before reaching the village.

But Kioshi didn't know anyplace else that would be safer. His body was abused and fatigued. Once depleted, it would take a while to get enough chakra to be able to move again. There were many dangerous criminals around. He'd be an easy target. Kioshi held value in Konoha so hopefully, that would be enough for them to not want to abuse or alienate him. Hopefully…

As Kioshi entered fire country, he passed both the Hot Water and Konoha patrols, causing a bit of a panic. Both had been alerted to the strong chakra signature, alarm signals flaring.

Kioshi ignored it. If he stopped now, he wouldn't be able to continue. Surrendering himself to unknown entities was also unwise. For all he knew, the ninjas could be Root members. He wanted to get as close to Konoha as possible.

Another few hours found him finally within sight of the village's gate. The thrum and life of Konoha brought both joy and apprehension. Perimeter guards were on his trail now. They were sending out frantic radio and chakra warnings to those ahead.

A strong gate barrier was activated at the warnings, blocking off the main doorway through Konoha's tall imposing walls. Kioshi didn't attempt to break in. There was no more energy to do so. His dimensional realm was empty now and his core depleted. He was going into the third stage of chakra exhaustion.

It was kind of poetic. He had just enough energy to make it here.

Kioshi slowed and collapsed face-first into the dirt 50 yards away, his muscles, bones, and chakra giving out. Ninjas could be felt slowly approaching from all directions, some coming from the forest, and others from the village. A few auras were recognized, some ninjas being known to be members of Anbu.

One was Kakashi, which was a relief. The hound's sensitive nose would recognize Kioshi for sure. Hopefully, the Anbu captain would stop others from going in for the kill. Kakashi also hated Danzo, so there was little chance now that the shady man could secret him away without the Hokage being notified.

With that comforting thought, Kioshi allowed consciousness to fade.
