It was late in the afternoon after Peter had dealt with the Slayer robots while teaming up with Wolverine himself and he was in his room working on some broken or worn down machines that he had acquired. He was coming up with plans for some small tracer devices which could be useful and he was fixing up a police scanner to pick up frequencies for him to use. Off course Peter knew full well this was 100% illegal but he was already a fugitive as Spider-Man so what's another charge?
Though he would off course had to hide this stuff underneath the floorboards with his Spider-Man stuff because how exactly would be explain this to May if she had stumbled upon it.
Peter while at work was also watching on his TV one of the Tiffany West spy action movies which became a a hit after the first one; the character and the lead actress Miranda Wilson became the crush off many and work was being done on what is to be the finale off the series. The scene Peter was on had Tiffany captured by an enemy agent and said agent said that she would be kept as a trophy that she had bested such a legendary spy. The scene had so much tension that you expected them to kiss before Tiffany turns the tables and escapes.
Then the police scanner picked something up and said that Miranda Wilson was just kidnapped as her limo ride to her home was high jacked. Peter's eyes widened as he went to getting changed into Spider-Man and web slinged out after getting the coordinates.
He after some web-slinging found the described limo and jumped down as the men in the driver's seat were firing their guns at police vehicles chasing them with the windows open. Peter popped his head in hearing Miranda scream and said "you know I can get behind really wanting to meet Miranda Wilson but there had to be better ways to get to meet her; actors deserve their privacy and I don't think they appreciate their fans kidnapping them..."
Peter then dodged their gunfire and pulled them out and web slinged them to the roof of the limo; he then felt the car being driven with no driver and quickly went in hearing Miranda scream. Peter then went to the car wheel trying to steer it and no video game could have prepared him for actually being behind the wheel; "Ms Wilson; big fan and... I have to admit that I haven't even had my driver's test yet..." Peter muttered and Miranda glared at him.
"I would never have been able to tell..." Miranda shouted sarcastically as Peter hit the brakes and got Miranda out. Then there was muttering and screaming from the people on the streets as Peter saw that there was a MASSVIVE STONE MONSTER ON THE STREETS!
Pet saw the monster reach out for Miranda and Peter picked her up and dodged the attack. He put her down and then punched at the monster breaking apart the skin it seemed and Peter could see circuitry. "Wait... More robots? Is this weekend robot weekend for me?" Peter muttered and then he saw the sky filled with dragons flying about and one reached down for Miranda and he picked her up to get her to saftey somehow.
He then reached an alleyway to put her down looked to the exit of the alleyway and shot a web at the dragons in the air but it hit something and he pulled down what looked to be a flying projector. He looked at it confused and saw a logo for 'BECK ILLUSIONS'.
Miranda came his way and groaned angrily looking at the logo; "Beck is behind this? Hasn't that loser endangered my life enough?" Miranda snapped and Peter looked her way.
"You heard of Beck Illusions?" Peter asked and Miranda sighed.
"Since you're supposed to be the superhero; I will tell you... Quentin Beck is some special effects genius and through this company he has created revolutionary special effects such as animatronics and holograms; his patents on these illusions must still make him a fortune as countless theme parks and studios use his stuff..." Miranda expained and Peter couldn't help but be in awe that someone was able to pull all this off with special effects.
"So you know this guy? Personally I mean; anything to tell me why he would want to kidnap you?" Peter asked and Miranda looked angrier.
"Unfortunately I met this ass who smelled his own farts so much that he convinced himself that he could be the a great director and actor. In the early 2000s he got the funding to make this independent fantasy movie with him as the lead and I was cast as the female led; I was a soap opera star at this time so long before Tiffany West... The set was dangerous and before it was completed there was a big incident that endangered us; I got my lawyers to pull me out and to sat him with a lawsuit as did the others and the investors pulled out... The movie was a disaster and I am glad that it never got finished or released; the story and the writing were abysmal and the whole thing was just a big vanity project..." Miranda explained and Peter took this in.
"So this is a revenge thing..." Peter said but found his Spider-Sense go off as there were dragon animatronics having found them and Peter had to fight them off but heard screaming as he turned and saw Miranda being carried off by one of them to his horror but it flew off before he could do anything.
He saw the rest retreating and thinking quick he got out one of his prototype tracers and managed to throw it to one of the dragons. He web slinged away back to his apartment room managing to evade the police who were too busy trying to find where the dragons were heading as well as dealing with Miranda's kidnapping.
He quickly got his computer open when he arrived and put up the software linked to his tracers to try and pinpoint where they were headed; once it got a location he had it compared to a map of New York and found it to be a facility owned by Beck Illusions. Hopefully the police will head the anonymous tip he will be giving out before going there himself.
Miranda was taken to the facility and groaned when she recognised it as the set of Beck's movie; "What do you think Miranda my dear? All that royalty money coming from my tech was put to good use restoring this place and the effects. Plus made some deals to acquire some stealth tech for my lovely dragons." said a voice and Miranda glared as she spotted Beck there smirking wearing his suit from the movie; a green body suit with along dark purple high collared cloak; golden gauntlets and underneath his arms was his fishbowl like helmet.
"Beck; what do you want with me?" Miranda demanded and Beck looked at her as if she asked a stupid question.
"To finish my masterpiece off course; after all these years Mysterio V the Elementals will finally be completed and I will put it out to the world! Sorry for the rough treatment in bringing you here but your agent kept refusing to hear out my messages so it was kind of necessary." Beck answered and Miranda scoffed; she had made it very clear to her agent that Beck was number 1 on the no-contact list.
"Fat chance of that happening Beck! I regret the day that I signed up for your stupid movie! I would sooner quit acting altogether..." Miranda snapped but then the robot dragons looked her way threateningly and she gulped.
"It's either we finish or your life Miranda! my dear! There is the room to your dressing room with the script!" Beck said frowning pointing to a room and Miranda reluctantly complied.
She wanted to barf at the gaudy attire that she had to wear for this movie and having to look at the stupid script again; it would make Garth Marenghi look like a master storyteller.
"Spider-Man if you are going to save me then do it quick..." Miranda muttered thinking that she will never complain if she gets damsel in distress parts after this; anything is better than being the real thing...
Soon a big illusion of a smoke monster was set up as an illusion and Beck was using rocket boots to simulate flight with holograms of smoke hiding the effect; with his helmet up he was shouting "You destroyed my old world and I won't let you destroy my new one!" Such overacting would make even the most dramatic theatre performers cringe.
Then from the roof came in Peter on his web who freaked out at the big smoke monster but his Spider-Sense didn't go off and he realised the smoke monster was a hologram. "Spider-Man? You ruined this take!" Beck shouted and began snapping at his voice activated dragons went after Peter who began dodging them.
"Mr Beck is it? First of all; your suit's rediculous and I think the take was ruined when you opened your mouth! Plus what is your character supposed to be?" Peter asked and this enraged Beck.
"Mysterio is the last survivor of his race of alien sorcerors who came to Earth to save it from the Elementals that destroyed his planet!" Beck explained as Peter thought the premise sounded decent as he was leading the robots to crash into them and soon they were destroyed. Peter then grabbed Miranda to take her to the exit and soon they saw the police had arrived.
Beck then flew away but Peter web slinged after him and caught him and brought him down as he landed on the ground with his helmet flying off. "I suggest that you make a break for it before the police get close enough to take you in; thanks for the save." Miranda told him and Peter smiled as he made his exit.
The story of a rogue special effects artist kidnapping Miranda Wilson only to be saved by Spider-Man was the news of the day and Peter heard about it the next day at Midtown though he was feeling a bit tired. "Can you believe it; Miranda Wilson in a plot that sounded like a movie itself. Surprised Spider-Man didn't ask for a kiss for a reward." Harry said to Peter and he frowned.
"The woman was kidnapped and you think Spider-Man should have taken advantage of that? Doesn't that sound wrong to extort something like that? I don't know the word..." Peter pointed out and Harry looked defensive.
"Off course but it's just how it sounded and I think anyone would have wanted some reward if they were in Spider-Man's situation..." Harry told Peter and Peter knew that other people would want to take advantage of the situation, as wrong as it seemed.
"Been some weekend hasn't it Petey?" Liz asked passing him with a smile much to Sally's irritation and Peter waved to her.
"Petey?" Harry asked with his arms folded and Peter shook his head knowing that Harry would like to know this.
In his office Mayor Jameson was furious about Spider-Man getting good press from this incident with the robots and rescuing an actress from her kidnapping; the police force should be taking care of this and what is he funding the Task Force for if they couldn't catch him? Plus some weirdo special effects guy in a stupid costume... "Mayor Jameson sir... The hospital called... Your son has awakened..." said an assistant who came into his office and Jameson got up from the news...
Miranda Wilson was from the Spider-Man: the Animated Series and was in Mysterio's last episode in that show. The one where they decided that using science to switch minds was simply impossible despite everything that was achieved in the show's universe. What do you think of how I did Mysterio here?
