Hello everyone, I have a few notes before we get to the next fanfic which is a two parter:
- First off, I have to say I'm so sorry that it's taken so long since I updated this fanfic, I was focusing on trying to get as much of Wedding Explosion done as possible.
- Secondly, work got really busy with new clients, attending networking events and finishing all my massive projects for the training side of my apprenticeship, which I'm happy to say I passed with the highest mark possible. I've also started a new job as well.
- Thirdly, my MacBook which housed my notes for the fanfics and my external hard drive (which I use when I need to look back at certain episodes) was only programmed for my mac and not my work laptop (which is a windows) weren't accessible as my MacBook finally give up and stopped working but thankfully, I have a new one now meaning I can back to writing.
- Finally, I had a lot of personal stuff happen, my grandad had a heart attack (thankfully he's all better now) and I sadly lost my 21-year-old Bengal cat (I was 4 when I got him as it was 3 months before my 5th bday and I'm currently 25) which I'm not over still and don't think I will be ever.
Now that's out of the way here's the next chapter.
Idea by Suzza101 (BacktotheBay):Could you please do a one shot where Kyle gets the flu while Bianca and Ricky are away and the boys are the ones that look after him.
Chapter 38 – Stepping into the Girls' Shoes Part 1
(8:32am)
Summer Bay – Braxton House – Driveway
"Drive carefully." Brax and Heath both said to their other halves as they drove out of the driveway.
"Whose idea was the spa anyway?" Heath asked his brother as they watched the car leave the street.
"I think it was Ricky's as she mentioned that one of her clients suggested it during a photoshoot and they currently had some sort of deal on." Brax told him as they headed back into the house.
(8:39am) 7 minutes later…
Summer Bay – Braxton House – Living Room
Re-entering the house, both brothers sat down on the couch, just as Kyle walked into the room.
"Morning Kylie." Heath laughed.
"Morning." Kyle says which is followed by a sneeze.
Brax and Heath quickly look at him with worry.
"Chill guys, it was just a sneeze." Kyle laughed "Probably just my hay fever playing up."
"It better be, I don't think we are prepared to deal with you if you're ill." Brax joked.
"I'm not that bad." Kyle said as he walked into the kitchen to make breakfast.
"Not that bad? Seriously?" Heath said in shock "Last time you were ill, you ended up in the hospital due to dehydration."
Walking back into the room with a bowl of cereal and sitting down in the armchair, Kyle pointed out: "It was only that one time and none of you have let me live it down since."
"Because you looked like death warmed up." Casey reminded him as he walked in from the garden.
"Jesu, where did you come from?" Brax said nearly having a heart attack.
"Outside, I met up with Romeo for a surf before he headed to a conference in the city." Casey said as he sat on the dining table.
"That's not fair." Heath sighed.
"What isn't?" Casey asked
"You get to go surfing while me and Brax have to stay and say goodbye to the girls." Heath replied, "Come on Brax, get sorted, while Case goes to work, we can go for a surf."
"I can't, I'm working in the restaurant today to cover Abby's shift." Brax said, "And before you say it, no Kyle is not covering for me either as he is also rostered on today."
"I wasn't going to, considering he's always working."
"What else do you want me to do Heath?" Kyle said as he sneezed again.
"Have some fun because all work and no play makes Kyle one sad boy." Heath laughed just as his phone rang.
With that Heath decided to answer the call in the flat, leaving the other three to talk.
(12:29pm) 3 hours and 50 minutes later…
Summer Bay – Angelos – Inside – Bar
Brax and Kyle were halfway through the lunch rush and in the last hour Kyle's sneezing had turned into coughing and a stuffy nose.
"Mate, go home." Brax said as he approached the bar with some empty glasses.
"No, we are already one person down. Plus, we are in the middle of the lunch rush." Kyle pointed out "Besides this is just my hay fever acting up."
"Go home, that's an order." Brax demanded.
Sighing, Kyle put down the pen he was using to write a reservation in the book, then grabbed his bag and left without complaint.
Watching Kyle sluggishly walk out the restaurant, Brax took his phone out of his pocket and sent a quick text to Heath to check on Kyle if he gets home before he did.
(1:07pm) 38 minutes later…
Summer Bay – Braxton House – Living Room
Walking through the front door and throwing his bag on to the chair, Kyle went and sat down on the sofa.
Just as he starts to close his eyes, he hears voices coming from the back door.
"What are you doing home?" Casey asks as he places two plates beside the sink.
Opening his eyes, Kyle replies: "Brax sent me home early. Aren't you meant to be at work?"
"I was this morning; I was only on a half day." Casey replies just as Tamara appears.
"Oh, don't you have a shift at the restaurant?" Tamara asks.
"I was just saying to Casey that Brax sent me home." Kyle replies "My constant sneezing turned into a cough and running nose."
"Oh no!" Casey exclaimed which earned him a slap from his girlfriend "What was that for?"
"Your brother is coming down with a cold and you say that." Tamara replies.
"Last time he ended up in hospital." Casey reminded her.
Standing up and grabbing his bag, Kyle quickly says: "Yeah and I don't plan on doing that again. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to get changed."
With that Kyle heads to his bedroom where he also plans to have some much-needed sleep.
(3:03pm) 1 hour and 56 minutes later…
Summer Bay – Braxton House – Kyle's Bedroom
Unbeknown to Kyle, Heath had just entered his bedroom to check on him.
Seeing that his brother was fast asleep, he slowly backed out of the room closing the door behind him.
Summer Bay – Braxton House – Hallway
Making sure the door was shut, Heath pulled out his phone and rang Brax.
Summer Bay – Angelos – Stock Room
Pulling his phone out of his pocket, Brax answered: "Heath."
Summer Bay – Braxton House – Hallway
"Thought you'd want to know that Kyle's asleep." Heath informed his older brother "Don't know how long he has been for though."
Summer Bay – Angelos – Stock Room
"At least he's getting some rest. Normally you have to tie him down to do that." Brax joked "On a more serious note, do you think it's just his hay fever?"
Summer Bay – Braxton House – Hallway
"Hell no! This is Kyle we are talking about Brax. When does he ever openly admit he's ill?"
Summer Bay – Angelos – Stock Room
"True, anyway are you going to stick around the house for a bit?" Brax asked him "Just Casey has gone bowling with Tamara and their friends. Also, I'm going to be stuck here till close by the looks of it."
Summer Bay – Braxton House – Hallway
"Sorry Brax, I'm about to leave to go pick Darcy up. I promised her a movie and dinner in Yabbie Creek." Heath apologised "I think he'll be fine until Casey gets back later; I mean the guy is asleep after all."
Summer Bay – Angelos – Stock Room
"Damnit, was kinda wanting someone to stick around in case he got worse, but Casey should be home in a few hours, so I'll get him to check on Kyle then." Brax replied just as Charlie entered the Stock Room looking for him "Anyone, I have to go we are busy."
With that Brax hangs up.
Summer Bay – Braxton House – Hallway
Hearing the hang up tone on his phone, Heath puts his phone back in his pocket and heads out to the car.
(3:32pm) 29 minutes later…
Summer Bay – Braxton House – Kyle's Bedroom
Waking up, Kyle rolled over to look at the clock seeing he had been asleep for over two hours.
Oh well, at least Brax can't complain that I didn't get any sleep…
Kyle's trail of thought was broken by the sudden need to be sick.
Throwing the covers off he got up and ran from his room.
(3:43pm) 11 minutes later…
Summer Bay – Braxton House – Bathroom
After just making it to the bathroom, Kyle was now sat on the floor as he didn't want to move from the bathroom in case, he was sick again.
I guess Brax was right, this isn't my hay fever. Oh no, not again…
Kyle quickly leaned over the toilet just as he was sick again.
