Welcome back readers to Chapter 3. The little chick we've known for a bit will wake up and meet some new faces. She will be a little scared at first, but after a bit of comforting she'll slowly open up. We'll even get to learn her name too. Now read on fellow readers and writers, this'll be a sort of interesting chapter...

(The Gunderson's Nest)

The chick slowly stirred awake from her fatigued rest into a sitting position. When she faced upward she saw a light blue figure. It was a Spix Macaw lady and she was absolutely beautiful along with an aura that seemed calming.

"Hello little one, it's OK. I'm here to keep you safe." The lady spoke.

She looked around confused and a bit scared, seeming find someone that she was comfortable with. But who was it?

"Where's the giant bird?" She whispered softly to the adult.

"She's out somewhere and is really busy, so she trusted us to take care of you." She replied.

The little chick looked up at her and slightly nodded. She stood up and hopped out of her nest, the adult female followed her every move with her sight.

"This is a big place..." She remarked, getting a good look of the nest that she was in.

"And you're welcome to stay here for as long as you like. We're taking care of you for the moment." The adult replied.

"We?" The chick asked, snapping her head back towards them.

"Me and my husband. We also have 3 kids."

The chick gave a "understood" nod towards the adult. She then slightly tilted her head towards the ground before lifting up and making eye contact again.

"Sorry if I hadn't told you my name. I'm Catherine."

"My name is Jewel. What a wonderful name you have by the way."

Catherine slightly giggle at Jewel's remark, her attention was then drawn towards the entrance by some flapping. It was 3 others chicks that she didn't know, so she hid behind Jewel since she was a bit shy.

"It's ok Cartherine. These are my kids." Jewel assured her.

All three of them waved towards Catherine, her doing the same back from behind Jewel.

"So that's the girl you talked about big sis..." Tiago spoke towards Carla, his face showing he had a bit of pity.

"Good that you're all here I'm going out to get some food for us." Jewel announced to her kids.

She turned around and knelt down the best she could to Catherine's level.

"Are you ok to stay here with them while I'm gone?"

She slightly nodded, making Jewel's beak shift into a shallow smile. The adult then stood back up and flew out of the enterance

"See you later kids!"

"Bye mom!"

All 3 kids turned back towards Catherine, Carla and Bia with welcoming smiles while Tiago with a bit of a sympathetic frown. They then stared introducing themselves to her.

"It's nice to meet you Catherine. I'm Carla, the oldest and creative of the three."

"My name is Bia. I am the middle child who is possibly the smartest out of us three."

"And I'm Tiago. I'm usually the fun one, but after hearing about you I don't know if I am at the moment..."

His older siblings realised that their younger brother seemed a bit down than usual. Bia's face then lit up with an idea on how to cheer him up.

"You know Tiago, maybe you could talk with her alone. It might help you out with your emotions."

Tiago's eyes suddenly widened as he snapped his head towards his sister.

"Are you seriously trying to make me date her? We just met!" He angrily whispered to Bia.

"I meant as like friends. You are a but dumb you know that." Bia whispered back, rolling her eyes as she finished.

"Right. Gotcha."

Catherine giggled at their little argument while Tiago blushed. Carla shook her head at Tiago's moment of stupidity before Bia broke up this embarrassing moment.

"Let's head to our rooms sis, I need to read up on some stuff dad gave me."

"Right with you on that Bia. I gotta get back to my music for inspiration."

Once both girls went to their respective nests, there was some awkward silence between the other two chicks. Tiago decided to break it up so he could get to know this new girl.

"So... Tell me about yourself then."

(Amazon Rainforest Outpost Delta)

On a table in the medical tent, Emily was currently working on one her patients lying down on a small bed. He was a Spix Macaw male with a huge claw mark on his chests skin that she was currently stitching up.

"You're lucky to be here with only this mate, Leopards don't fuck about with their prey." She remarked.

"Yeah. The Puta snuck up on me real good, I have to thank my friends for warning me about it. GAH! Merdé does that hurt!" He replied back, cursing as disinfectant was poured on the wound.

"Now you'll have to take some Antibiotic pills to prevent you from getting infected and Morphine for the pain. Make sure to visit me at least once a day so I can give you one."

"Will do. Thanks a lot doctor."

"Anytime."

The patient then flew off, leaving only the noises of the jungle along with Emily's periodic humming. That is until a loud flapping noise echoed from outside, the Scarlet Female instantly recognising who's making it.

An audible "Clack" noise could be heard. Claws making contact with the table right as the flapping stopped.

"Hey Talita! Back from patrol?!" She called out, still focused on her current task.

"Yeah! A bit more of a dramatic morning than I expected..." Talita replied with a slightly depressed tone.

Emily noticed this and turned around to face her wife. She looked gloomy and seemed to have something on her mind. Em decided to drop what she was doing to go comfort her.

"Come with me Tal. We can talk about it over here."

Emily directed her wife to a nearby medical bed on the table and helped her sit down on it. Em knew it must have been something serious, usually Tal doesn't look this down something happened that she couldn't prevent.

"Look Em. I don't want to talk about it right--"

"If you don't tell me, it'll eat you up. I don't want that happening to you now, do I?

Talita sighed. She knew here wife would keep poking at her until she told her what it was.

"Alight, I'll tell you... On patrol, I saw a wild Harpy attacking a nest and I fought him off. When I went in I found two dead Macaws, both killed by him."

"That is horrible! Were you able to catch him?"

"Roberto's men did just before I entered the nest. There I found a poor chick by herself hiding, she he was absolutely terrified."

"Where is she now?"

"At Blu and Jewel's Place. We can go there if you want."

"No. You need to rest my giant predator, you seemed like you had a rough day."

Talita couldn't deny it. She never expected her morning to end up what it is currently. With the help of her wife, Tal was escorted to a nearby pillow and laid down on it.

"I'll go visit their nest to see how this chick is if that's ok with you?"

Talita barely nodded at her partner.

"Be back in an hour or two hopefully. You just get your strength back up."

Emily gave Talita a quick kiss on the side of her beak before heading out towards the Gunderson nest. Her hasty take off created a very audible flap sound before it faded away, leaving the Harpey alone.

"I hope you know what you're doing with her Em."

I feel a bit bad for Talita, don't you? Poor bird hasn't seen something this awful in a long time... In Chapter 4, Emily will go to meet the chick we now know as Catherine, a possible spark of romance will happen between Catherine and Tiago and we might be meeting a new friend (Some of you might know who it is already *wink* *wink*). Goodbye for now!

Editor's notes: Sorry that it took over a month to make, I've been sort of busy with college, procrastinating on writing this chapter and been a bit slow when I do. So for now maybe expect at leat one chapter per month in the future if this keeps up.
