Kanto Arc Chapter 3
Pewter Gym and a New Rival?!
Hello everyone, here's chapter 3 it'll mostly cover Ash's gym battle with Brock, reuniting with Leaf and he also gets a new rival I'm confident you guys already know who it is, let's begin the chapter.
We turn back time a day before Ash and Misty leave Viridian Forest inside the Pewter Gym we hear the sounds of a battle "Grab it and Use Seismic toss!" a young boy commands "Quick dodge and use Rockslide" Another voice says, we zoom inside the gym and see a young boy with purple hair and his very tired Pinsir facing off against a very weakened Onix with a teenage boy behind the giant rock snake.
"Pinsir return!" The purple haired boy returns the tired bug "Turtwig stand by for battle" the boy yells what comes out is a small grass turtle like Pokemon that has a very serious expression. As soon as Turtwig comes out its instantly hit with small rocks hitting its face, but the small green turtle shakes it off.
"Whoa I never thought I see a Turtwig in the Kanto region" The teenage boy says with a shocked look on his face
"If you stay in shock for too long, I'll take the advantage and win" the young boy says with arrogance
"Heh you're right about that Onix use Screech then Iron tail!" The giant rock snake gives a roar blasting a screech at Turtwig successfully lowering its defense (Turtwig doesn't look fazed) Onix charges at the small grass Turtle with a glowing tail.
"Stand your ground and take the hit!" The young boy commands as Onix's tail comes crashing down on the small Turtle, as the dust clears, we see that even though Turtwig took a lot of damage from Iron Tail it's still good to go and is biting down hard on Onix's tail.
"Now use Mega Drain to restore the damage you took then slam Onix on the ground!" The young boy commands and Turtwig does just that it takes most of Onix's energy weaking the Pokemon and slamming it on the battlefield.
"Onix!" The teenage boy yells in worry
"Now finish with Razor Leaf" The boy commands as Turtwig fires multiple razor-sharp leaf's at Onix, the giant rock snake roars in pain it gives one final roar, and it lays down in defeat.
"Gym leader Brocks Onix is defeated therefore the challenger is the winner" the Referee says
"Onix return" Brock returns the Pokémon and tells it good job he then walks over to the boy and hands him a badge.
"Here's the Boulder Badge showing you've defeated my gym it was a great battle" Brock says with a smile
"Thank you" the purple haired boy takes the badge puts in his pocket and starts to leave the gym
"Wait I don't think I got your name?" Brock asked, the purpled haired boy turns around and looks at Brock.
"It's Paul" Paul responds and heads out of the gym and walks to the Pokémon Center.
It's now present time Ash and Misty made it to Pewter City before they made it into the city, they met a man named Flint who was selling rocks they didn't interact with him too much and started dashing to the Pokemon Center.
"Ash wait! Can't we just walk?" Misty asks tiredly
"Nope I'm too excited besides we're almost there" Ash says as the Pokemon Center comes into view, the boy quickly dashes inside (leaving a tired Misty behind) the building and quickly scans the area to find Leaf.
"Do you see her Pikachu?" Ash asks the mouse "Pika" Pikachu responds with a no
"Hey Ash!" A happy voice calls as Ash turns his head, he gets a big smile
"Leaf!" Ash says
"Ash!" Leaf responds back and sprints toward him
"Leaf! Wai!" Before Ash could finish Leaf tackled him in a big hug, Misty finally made it to the Center and sees a girl (She assumes is Leaf) crashing into Ash wrapping him into a big hug. As Ash and Leaf landed on the floor, Ash landed on his back Leaf was on top of him and Pikachu was flung off Ash's shoulder landing on his back as well. The trainers crashing caused everyone in the center to look at them.
"Ash I'm so happy to see you!" Leaf says happily as she continues to hug Ash
"Me… too… Leaf can you please get off me" Ash says with pain in his voice, Leaf notices what's she's done quickly jumps off Ash tells him sorry and says sorry to everyone else in the center. The bystanders nod and go back to what they were doing.
"Geez Leaf your as strong as ever" Ash says struggling to get up
"Yeah, but I was so happy to see you" Leaf says and helps Ash up and the two-start laughing, Misty goes over to where Pikachu was and lifts the mouse into her arms Pikachu's a little dazed but will be fine, she then walks over to the two laughing trainers.
"Here's Pikachu Ash" Misty says and hands Pikachu over to Ash, "Ah Pikachu you okay buddy?" Ash asked, Pikachu still dazed gives a small Pika and a thumbs up. Leaf also says sorry to the little mouse and the three trainers walk over to a nearby empty table, to sit and talk. Misty and Leaf greet each other.
"So, the reason your traveling with Ash is because he destroyed your bike?" Leaf asks Misty
"Yep, I'm not letting him out of my sight until he pays me back!" Misty says sternly and glares at the uncomfortable Ash
"I already said I'll pay you back how many times are you going to keep bringing it up?" Ash asked in annoyance
"As many times as, I need to until you pay me back!" Misty responds back
"Oh brother" Ash says as he puts his hand over his face
"Uhhh how about we change the subject" Leaf says trying to lighten the mood "So Ash how many Pokemon have you captured so far" Leaf asks curiously
"I've captured 3 so far though I could've caught a lot more" Ash says, "how many have you caught Leaf?" Misty asks
"Hmmm I think I have over 20 Pokemon!" Leaf says nonchalantly and with a smile
"Over 20!?" Ash and Misty yell in shock even Pikachu's shocked
"Yeah, I got really into catching after I left Pallet town, also some of the Pokemon I caught are the same species that are bigger or smaller It really helps with my research" Leaf says rubbing her head
"Are you able to take care of so many Pokemon?" Ash asks
"Oh yeah it's pretty easy I make sure to constantly rotate so I'm able to spend time with each of them I even won my first badge as well" Leaf says and shows Ash and Misty her badge
"Whoa that's so cool Leaf I didn't think you would take on the gym challenge it didn't seem like you were interested in it you always seemed more interested in research like Ms. Daisy and Professor Oak" Ash says
"Well, when you capture Pokemon that love to battle you need to be able to satisfy their needs as well, battling more will help me capture stronger Pokemon which will help further my goal and I've really been enjoying them I now see why you and Gary always got excited whenever you two watched battles on the TV" Leaf says and gives a small chuckle
"Now that I think about it have you been in contact with Gary?" Ash asks in interest
"Hm Oh yeah I forgot I did meet Gary again and watched his battle with the gym leader Brock he won using only his starter that recently evolved into a Warturtle I tried my best to cheer for him as loud as I could, but the cheerleaders cheered louder than me, he also instantly left after that and didn't want to stay to watch my gym battle" Leaf finishes and signs at the last comment
"And you did you win your badge easily as well?" Misty asks Leaf
"Well, it was a bit difficult for me my Bulbasuar was my last Pokemon it was about to faint but managed to evolve into Ivysaur and winning the battle" Leaf says with a smile
"I see" Ash says with a serious expression and thinks "I wonder if I'm ready to take on the gym leader". Leaf noticing Ash thinking hard and having a nervous expression gets an idea.
"Hey Ash let's have a training battle to prepare you for your battle" Leaf says as that gets Ash's attention, and he quickly recovers. "You're on!" Ash gets a determined look on his face excited to battle.
"I knew you'd agree come let's go outside there's a training ground I'll show you the Pokemon I have with me right now" Leaf says
"Sounds good to me I'll show you mine as well" Ash responded "Guess I'll be the referee again" Misty says shrugging her shoulders, The three humans and Pikachu head out to the battlefield unbeknownst to them a certain purple haired boy is already in the training grounds.
Ash, Leaf and Misty make it to the training grounds Pikachu jumps off Ash's shoulder as Leaf and Ash send out there Pokemon, Ash's Pokemon come out first and giving a happy cry and Pikachu goes to stand next to them. Leaf's Pokemon come out next and they consist of Ivysaur, Bellsprout, Poilwag, Sperow, Nidaran male and a Nidaran female wearing a bow on its head.
"Whoa so cool!" Ash and Leaf say as they look at each other's Pokemon the two are in awe
"Ash your Pokemon are so cool!" Leaf says excitedly
"Yours too!" Ash responded
The Pokemon go and greet each other Ivysaur and Pikachu hit it off well as they already know each other from Oak's ranch, Pidgeotto and Sperow fly around in the sky, Magickarp and Bellsprout give a friendly greeting to each other, Butterfree tries to interact with the two Nidaran's but the Pokemon ignore Butterfree and rub their faces lovely on each other. Poilwag wanted to interact with the other Pokemon as well, but Misty picked up the tadpole and gives it a hug.
"Your so cute Poilwag I hope I get my own one day!" Misty says with hearts in her eyes
"Poil!" The tad pole responds happily
"So, Ash you ready to battle?!" Leaf asks with a determined look "Yeah!" Ash quickly responds also giving Leaf a determined look
"Great I'll be using Ivysuar, Bellsprout and Nidaran female they were the three Pokemon I used in my gym battle, so you use the three that you'll be using as well" Leaf says as her three Pokemon stand next to her in a battle-ready stance.
"Sounds good to me I'll be using Pikachu, Magickarp and Pidgeotto" Ash responds as his three Pokemon stand next to him in a battle-ready stance (Magickarp is splashing up and down), Butterfree gives a sad look as it also wanted to battle but Ash reassures the flying bug that he'll get his chance next time and wants him to watch.
The two trainers stand on opposite sides of the battlefield with their three Pokemon with them Misty (still holding Poilwag) goes to stand as the referee, Ash and Leaf's other Pokemon are off to the side to watch the battle, Misty looks back and forth at both trainers and tells them to send out there first Pokemon.
"Pidgeotto, I choose you" Ash says as the bird Pokemon flies to the field
"Nidaran Female I choose you" Leaf calls and the blue poison rabbit like Pokemon jumps in the air spinning 2 times lands on the field and gets in its battle stance.
"Battle begin!" Misty yells raising one arm while the other holds Poilwag
"Use quick attack Pidgeotto!" Ash makes the first move Pidgeotto flies quickly into the air and is about to come into contact with Nidaran.
"Stay right there!" Leaf says with a smile, Ash is confused at first but then quickly realizes his mistake he's about to call Pidgeotto back but the bird hits Nidoran knocking the blue rabbit a few feet away. Pidgeotto gives a mighty cry but then feels something wrong with its body it feels sick and falls out of the sky in pain.
"Oh no Pidgeotto's been poisoned" Ash says with concern in his voice "That's Nidoran's ability poison point if the opposing Pokemon uses a physical attack the target the opposing Pokemon gets poisoned in return" Leaf finishes and smiles
"Pidgeotto can you still battle?!" Ash calls to the bird, Pidgeotto nods back in approval "Alright let's begin our counterattack" Ash says as he's about to call for his next move, but Leaf beats him "Use Venomshock!" Leaf commands "Venomshock?" Ash questions, Nidoran fires purple sludge at the bird the attack lands at first nothing happens but then Pidgeotto starts to feel pain all over its body and gives out a cry.
"PIJO!" Pidgeotto yells
"No Pidgeotto!" Ash yells, Pikachu, Magickarp, Butterfree and even Misty (trying her best to be impartial) all have a worried expression.
"When the opponent is Poisoned, Venomshock does more damage using this tactic was one of the reasons as to why I won my badge" Leaf says with a smile
"Heh I must say Leaf you're really good I can see why you were able to beat Samurai and get your first badge but even though this is a training battle I'm still going to win let's go Pidgeotto!" Ash calls and Pidgeotto struggles to get up but still manages to stand and the rest of Ash's Pokemon cheer for it.
"PIJO!" Pidgeotto cries
"Your Pidgeotto is tough Ash but I'm still going to win use Vemomshock again Nidoran!" Leaf yells as Nidoran fires the move but Pidgeotto dodges the attack with a quick attack commanded by Ash.
"Now use Gust and trap Nidoran inside" Ash says, PIdgeotto is able to launch the move and traps Nidoran"
"NIdo!" Nidoran yells in pain, "Come on NIdoran ride the wind to get out of the Gust then use Toxic Spikes!" Leaf calls
"We won't let you Pidgeotto dive into the gust and use Wing Attack on Nidoran" Ash says, PIdgeotto gives a mighty cry, heads into the gust with glowing wings blocking Nidoran's path, "Do it!" Ash yells "Nidoran dodge!" Leaf calls, PIdgeotto gives a small grunt because of the poison but is still able to push through the pain and hits Nidoran with Wing Attack and knocks the blue rabbit on the field.
"Nidoran no!" Leaf says with a worried look, Misty walks over to Nidoran and sees that it's knocked out "Nidoran is defeated Pidegotto is the winner "Alright!" Ash yells happily as his Pokemon do the same, Leaf is disappointed that she lost but smiles and returns Nidoran to its Pokeball saying it did a good job and they'll keep training.
"Pidgeotto are you okay" Ash asks as he runs over to it Pidgeotto gives Ash a nod but still feels the effects of the Poison, "Ash catch" Leaf says as she throws two things in Ash's direction, Ash catches the items and notices they are an Antidote and Hyper Potion.
"Thank you Leaf" Ash says as he begins to use the two items on PIdgeotto and the bird is back to full health
"No problem hehehe" Leaf says with a small chuckle
"Use tackle" Ash yells "Use cut" Leaf yells Its now the second battle and its between Magickarp and Bellsprout both Pokemon have been giving it there all in this battle (like Magickarp Leaf's Bellsprout is really tough), both have been affected by status conditions Magickarp was poisoned when bellsprout used Poison Powder and Bellsprout's been paralyzed because of Magickarp landing Bounce inflicting super effective damage and paralyzing the beansprout Pokemon Leaf was shocked when Magickarp used that move.
"Okay Leaf it's time we end this Use Bounce at full power Magickarp!" Ash yells as Magickarp leaps high into the air and begins to charge its attack
"Sounds good to me Ash use Sword's dance Bellsprout" Leaf calls and the sprout Pokemon increases its attack, Magickarp is done charging its move and begins to fall straight towards Bellsprout.
"Quick Bellsprout Counter the move with Cut!" Leaf yells as Bellsprouts leaf arms turn into very sharp swords Magickarp closes in and the two Pokemon yell at each other.
"KARP!"
"BELL!"
They collide with Magickarp landing the Bounce and Bellsprout landing the Cut there's a big explosion creating a dust cloud Ash and Leaf try to see if their Pokemon are still standing, as the dust clears Misty sees the result and says "Both Pokemon are unable to battle this match is a draw", Ash and Leaf are shocked but still happy that their Pokemon gave it all they had.
"Good job Magickarp take a good rest" Ash tells the fish and returns it to its Pokeball, Leaf does the same to Bellsprout but both Magickarp and Bellsprout come back out of their Pokeballs since they want to see the conclusion to Ash and Leaf's battle both trainers allow this and go back to their sides of the battlefield.
"Go Pikachu" Ash calls, Pikachu jumps onto the field sparking its cheeks for the incoming battle
"Go Ivysaur" Leaf says, Ivysaur jumps on the field and gives a loud "SUAR" showing its ready to battle and win.
"Pikachu vs Ivysaur battle begin" Misty says, and the two trainers call out their first attacks "Use Thuderbolt Pikachu" Pikachu fires a stream of lightning towards the grass dinosaur, "Minimize the damage with Light screen" Leaf calls Ivysaur summons five protective screen's Pikachu's Thunderbolt goes through each one the attack hits Ivysaur but it does little to nothing against the plant dinosaur.
"Guess we can't use our special moves for a while in that case Pikachu use agility to increase your speed!" Ash calls as Pikachu starts running around Ivysuar confusing it in the process.
"It's okay Ivysuar use Grass Knot in all directions" Ivysuar nods and summons the grass knot in all directions, tripping Pikachu in the process
"Now use your Vine Whip to catch Pikachu" Leaf calls as Ivysuar quickly shoots out it's vines to grab Pikachu.
"Oh no you don't dodge with Quick Attack Pikachu and use Quick Attack again to hit Ivysaur" Ash calls, Pikachu successfully dodges the Vine Whip and lands the Quick Attack on Ivysaur. The plant dinosaur yells in pain and backs away a little.
"It's okay Ivysaur heal your damage with Synthesis" Leaf calls as Ivysuar gives a roar starts to glow and its damage is healed. Ash grits his teeth and thinks how is he going to defeat Ivysuar? "If the battle keeps going on like this Pikachu will be worn out and Ivysuar will win it's a gamble, but I guess it's time to try out Pikachu's new move" Ash says.
"Pikachu use Thunder wave!" Ash yells, Pikachu summons a wave of electricity and fires at Ivysaur hitting the Pokemon and paralyzing it, Ivysuar groans as it tries to move the electricity is restricting its movement slightly.
"I don't know what you're planning Ash, but it won't work Ivysuar use Razor Leaf" Leaf calls and Ivysaur fires the Razor-sharp leaves at Pikachu, "Pikachu dodge using agility and run around Ivysuar using Quick Attack" Ash calls and Pikachu dodges the sharp leaf's and quickly runs around Ivysuar with Quick Attack.
"You've already tried this before Ash don't start falling for the same tricks Ivysuar use Grass Knot" Leaf calls as Ivysuar summons the Grass Knot on the battlefield. Ash smirks "I was hoping you'd do that Pikachu jump into the air and use Iron tail" Ash yells as Pikachu jumps and starts charging up its tail.
"Ivysuar quick you got to move! Ivysaur?" Leaf gasp as she sees Ivysuar unable to move because of the paralysis "Oh no!" Leaf says.
"Go Pikachu!" Ash yells as Pikachu finished charging up the attack and smashes its tail on Ivysaur's head knocking the Pokemon back a few feet not only causing major damage but lowering Ivysuar's defense as well, the light screen also disappears.
"Ivysaur!" Leaf says in worry, Ivysuar gives a very weak cry but still stands.
"Alright Pikachu time to finish this Use Thunder Bolt!" Ash yells, Pikachu fires the move but Ivysaur dodges at last second the move continues until it's about to hit someone.
"Look out!" Ash, Leaf and Misty say in worry
"Razor leaf" The boy says as a green turtle Pokemon fires the leaf's cancelling the Thunderbolt. Ash quickly runs over. "Hey, I'm sorry about that are you" Ash was about to finish until he saw the boy's appearance and got a shocked look on his face.
"It's you!" Ash says while pointing his finger
"Who's this guy?" Leaf and Misty asks with a curious look
"I saw this guy at the Viridian Pokemon Center and Samurai told you and me Misty about a boy with purple hair catching powerful Pokemon" Ash says as he looks back at Misty
"Your right he does match the description" Misty nods her head as Leaf looks confused
"I didn't think we see each other again so soon my names Ash, this is Leaf and Misty and what's your name?" Ash asks smiling and holding his hand out for a handshake.
"It's Paul" Paul says and doesn't shake Ash's hand, making Ash a little annoyed Ash was going to say something but then notices the green turtle Pokemon next to him.
"Who's that Pokemon?" Ash and Leaf say as they pull out their Pokedex's
"Turtwig, the Tiny Leaf Pokémon. A starter Pokemon from the Sinnoh region, its shell is made of earth and when it absorbs water, it becomes harder." The Pokedex says
"It's so cute!" Misty and Leaf squeal with hearts in their eye's, Pikachu and Ivysaur go to greet Turtwig, Turtwig gives them a nod making Pikachu and Ivysaur happy.
"Whoa this is my first time seeing a Turtwig it's so cool I hope I get my own one day" Ash says with stars in his eyes, Paul not paying attention to everyone praising Turtwig looks over at Ash's other Pokemon and speaks
"Are those the Pokemon you're going to use in the gym?" Paul asks
"Yep, I believe my team can do it after training with Leaf today I just know I can get my first badge" Ash responds excitedly
"I don't agree you're going to lose if you use those Pathetic looking Pokemon" Paul says catching everyone's attention
"What did you say?!" Ash says angerly and his Pokemon getting angry as well
"I was watching your battle with that girl, and I just don't see how you can beat the gym leaders Pokemon especially his ace Onix" Paul says with a serious expression and a small smirk
"Now hold it you! Ash and his Pokemon were training themselves very hard every day for this battle I'm not going to let you make fun of him!" Misty says with hands on her hips and giving Paul a serious look
"I don't remember making fun of him I'm just stating facts and besides I don't remember talking to you so say out of this" Paul says and turns back to Ash
"Why you little once I'm done with you no one will recognize you!" Misty yells as she wants to hit Paul, but Leaf is holding her back
"Let me go Leaf I need to teach this kid a lesson!" Misty says while struggling to get out of Leaf's hold
"No, you'll just make things worst!" Leaf says while holding Misty with all her might
"If you believe that I'll prove you wrong by beating both the gym leader and you!" Ash says with his fist up and his Pokemon agreeing with him
Paul smirks "Okay then if you beat the gym leader I'll battle you, seeing as you only have 4 Pokemon the match will be with my Turtwig and these other 3" Paul throws 3 Pokeballs in the air revealing the other 3 Pokemon Ash will battle. Ash and Leaf notice two Pokemon not native to kanto and a Nidoking they scan the three Pokemon.
The first to appear is a small yellow Pokemon with plugs coming out of its head it also has black stripes the Pokemon is called Elekid, the next is a small black bird called Murkrow "Both Pokemon native to the neighboring Jotho region" the Pokedex says and the last one is a very strong looking Nidoking, Turtwig (having a serious look) gets in the middle of the three-mons showcasing to everyone that it's the leader/strongest member.
"So, you still want to battle?" Paul asks a very surprised Ash, Ash quickly shakes his head.
"Yeah, I do!" Ash responds back with a determined look with his Pokemon doing the same. Leaf and Misty have worried looks on their faces while Paul smirks.
30 minutes later the four trainers make it to the Pewter gym and head inside.
"Who goes there!" A loud and assertive voice says as the lights to gym turn on, everyone looks and sees the Brock sitting on a rock
"My name is Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town and I've come to get my first gym badge!" Ash responds with a determined look.
"I see I accept your challenge" Brock nods his head and sees the other trainers next to Ash, he remembers Paul and Leaf who challenged him a couple days ago he looks at Misty and feels he's seen her before but shrugs it off.
"It's great to see you two again" Brock says with a smile, "You too Brock I'm just here to cheer on my friend!" Leaf says with a smile and Paul gives a nod acknowledging Brock, Brock then turns to Ash.
"So, are you ready Ash?!" Brock asks, "Yeah, I've been looking forward to this for a long time" Ash responds, he looks back to Leaf, Misty and Paul "Watch this guy's I'm going to win, and I'll prove you wrong Paul" Ash says while glaring at the Purple haired boy.
"Hmph we'll see" Paul states as he closes his eyes and walks to the audience area
"Be careful Ash Brock is a very tough gym leader he won't go easy on you" Leaf warns Ash
"Good luck Ash and I also agree with Leaf" Misty says
"Don't worry guys I know and besides I don't want him to go easy on me the tougher the battle makes the battle more fun" Ash replies to Leaf and Misty with a confident smile, the two girls join Paul in the audience area, but they don't sit next to him, the referee walks and takes his position.
"This is a 3 on 3 gym battle between gym leader Brock and Ash Ketchum of Pallet town only the challenger is allowed to make substitutions both trainers send out your first Pokemon" Brock and Ash nod and throw their Pokeballs Ash's Pidgeotto comes out and gives a mighty cry and Brock sends out a rock Pokemon with a human face and Arms the Pokemon is called Geodude.
"Battle begin!" The referee calls and Ash quickly makes his first move
"Pidgeotto use gust" Ash calls and Pidgeotto summons a big wind tornado trapping Geodude inside and doing little damage.
"Blow that wind away with Rock tomb" Brock calls and Geodude is able to get rid of the gust, Brock calls for his next move "Now set up stealth rock" Brock says and Geodude scatters many tiny rocks all over the battlefield (Paul and Leaf having battled Brock know exactly what he's doing), Ash is confused that the move didn't inflict damage on Pidgeotto he doesn't think much about it and calls for the next attack
"Use Steel wing!" Ash calls, Pidgeotto's wings glow a bright light and slams them down on Geodude knocking the rock Pokemon out
"Geodude has been defeated the first victory goes to Ash of Pallet Town" The referee states and Ash gets excited, "Way to go Pidgeotto we're in the lead! Just two more to go" Ash says and Pidgeotto gives a mighty cry.
"Good job Ash!" Misty says cheerfully she then looks at Leaf and Paul she understands why Paul wouldn't cheer for Ash but is confused about Leaf who looks very serious, Leaf looks back at Misty
"Oh, don't worry Misty I'm happy Ash beat Geodude but he made a mistake letting Geodude use stealth rocks the battle is going to get harder from here" Leaf says and looks back to the battle, Paul continues to watch the battle as well.
"Well done Ash you beat my first Pokemon with little effort, but the battle will now get a lot harder from here go Geodude!" Brock brings out another Geodude Ash is surprised Brock sent out another one but as Ash takes a closer look at the Pokemon it looks like Geodude but has a different appearance. Ash scans the Pokemon with his Pokedex he learns it is indeed Geodude but one native to the Alola region, Ash and Misty are shocked.
"Yep, this is the Alolan form of Geodude from the Alola region I caught this Pokemon 2 years ago when me and my siblings went to Akala Island for vacation it has proved to be a very Powerful Pokemon that sometimes defeats the rest of the challengers Pokemon by itself, it's also a Rock/Electric type so it covers my water weakness as well" Brock says leaving Ash dumbfounded
"I can now see why Paul told me why my Pokemon wouldn't work well in this battle" Ash thinks to himself.
"PIJO" Pidgeotto screams getting Ash's attention, "You're saying you're not scared and still willing to battle?" Ash asks the bird, Pidgeotto gives a nod "Alright let's do this get in close with Quick Attack then use Steel Wing" Ash calls as Pidgeotto quickly slams it's wing into Geodude but it looks like the attack barely did any damage.
"Use Thunder Punch" Brock ordered Geodude charges up its fist with electricity and punches Pidgeotto hard in the stomach sending the bird to the wall and knocking it out.
"Pidgeotto is unable to battle Geodude is the winner" The referee calls, Ash Misty, Leaf and Pikachu are surprised Leaf knew Geodude was strong, but she thought that Pidgeotto would've lasted longer since it didn't take any damage prior, Paul continues to watch not surprised of the outcome. Ash returns Pidgeotto tells it good job and brings out his next Pokemon.
"Magickarp I choose you" Ash sends out the fish Pokemon and as soon as it comes out it's hit with what looks to be stealth rock injuring the fish Pokemon.
"Magickarp!" Ash calls in worry
"Was that stealth rock?" Misty asks, "Yeah it's a move that inflicts damage on the opponent whenever a trainer sends out a new Pokemon" Leaf responds
"Can you still battle Magickarp?!" Ash asks in concern as Magickarp splashes up and down ready to battle.
"Magickarp vs Geodude battle begin!" the referee calls
"We'll go first this time Ash Geodude use rock polish to raise your speed" Brock calls as Geodude glows and then starts zipping around the battlefield. Ash and Magickarp are surprised at how fast Geodude is going but Ash gives Magickarp a command.
"Use tackle!" Ash calls Magickarp launches into the air heading straight for Geodude "Use Flamethrower" Brock calls Geodude instantly appears in front of Magickarp surprising both Ash and Magickarp, Magickarp is then consumed in flames yelling in pain, "now finish with Thunder Punch!" Geodude's fist glow with electricity again and in a blink of an eye hits Magickarp with the super effective attack Magickarp falls on the ground and skids back to Ash defeated.
"Magickarp is unable to battle Geodude is the winner" the referee announces, we see Ash with an extremely shocked face and returns Magickarp and tells it thank you, "Pika" Pikachu says with its ears down, Misty and Leaf also have a sad look while Paul continues to stare.
"Well, it's up to you now buddy are you ready?!" Ash asks the electric mouse "Pika" Pikachu responds and sparks its cheeks, "Pikachu I choose you!" Ash says and as soon as Pikachu jumps into the battlefield its hit by the stealth rock injuring the yellow mouse Pikachu gives a slight groan but still ready to battle.
"Pikachu vs Geodude battle begin!" As soon as the battle starts both trainers yell out their attacks
"Use ThunderBolt!" Ash yells, "Counter with Flamethrower!" Brock yells, the two moves clash creating an explosion Ash calls for his next attack.
"Use Quick Attack" Pikachu zips across the battlefield and hits Geodude "Use Thunder Punch!" Brock yells and Geodude punches Pikachu in the stomach making the yellow mouse gasp is pain and stumble back a little bit,
"Now Rockslide!" Brock calls and Geodude quickly summons multiple large rocks and throws them at Pikachu, "Dodge with Quick Attack!" Ash calls Pikachu is still in pain but is able to dodge the Rockslide, "Now ThunderBolt!" Ash yells Pikachu quickly fires a strong bolt of electricity shocking Geodude, both Brock and Geodude are surprised by how strong the ThunderBolt was.
"Now finish with Irontail!" Ash yells as Pikachu begins to charge the move
"Counter with ThunderPunch" Brocks calls as Geodude charges both fist
Pikachu dodges both punches and lands a powerful Iron Tail finally knocking out Geodude.
"Geodude is unable to battle Pikachu is the winner" the referee calls, Ash, Leaf, Misty and Pikachu give a sign of relief and Brock returns the Pokemon.
"Well done Ash you've beat my Geodude now how will you deal with this one go Onix!" Brock throws out Onix's Pokeball and the giant rock snake gives a mighty roar
"The final battle Pikachu vs Onix begin" The ref calls and Ash makes the first move "Use Iron Tail!" Pikachu starts glowing its tail to charge the attack, but its tail stopped glowing shocking Pikachu and Ash
"I guess 2 times a day is Pikachu's limit" Ash says gritting his teeth
"Too bad Ash my turn Onix use bind" Brock calls as Onix grabs Pikachu with its tail and starts to squeeze the yellow mouse.
"Pika!" Pikachu screams in pain and Ash looks on in worry trying to think of what to do next.
"Forfeit the battle it's obvious your Pikachu can't beat my Onix and if you're a good trainer you'll know when it's time to stop the battle" Brock says sternly, Ash is at a crossroads he wants to win to prove Paul wrong and get his first gym badge, but he also knows if he keeps going Pikachu will get seriously injured after 10 more seconds Ash makes his choice.
"I... forfeit" Ash says with disappointment in his voice and his cap covering his face, Brock nods and tells Onix to let go of Pikachu he returns the rock snake and tells Ash to come back once he trains more Brock then leaves, Ash quickly runs to Pikachu with Misty and Leaf following behind.
"Pikachu are you okay?" Ash asks with worry in his voice, Pikachu gives a small nod, Ash gives Pikachu a hug and says he's sorry, Misty and Leaf are behind Ash but don't say anything.
"Just as I thought" Paul says catching everyone's attention, Misty and Leaf give him a glare, but Paul ignores them and says one more thing
"Not only are your Pokemon pathetic your pathetic as well" Paul finishes, Ash doesn't respond and continues to hold Pikachu
Misty was going to say something, but Leaf was quicker, "HOW DARE YOU!" Leaf yells in anger surprising everyone even Paul "Ash and his Pokemon did their best sure they didn't win but that doesn't make them pathetic this loss will only make them stronger! SO DON'T YOU DARE CALL THEM PATHETIC!" Leaf finishes.
"Hmph whatever" Paul responds back, leaves the gym and goes in the direction that leads out of Pewter City
"Whoa I wasn't expecting that from you Leaf" Misty says, "Sorry it's just his attitude made me angry, and I didn't like him knocking down Ash" Leaf says while giving a few huffs,
"Leaf" Ash speaks making Leaf and Misty turn to him
"I appreciate you standing up for me but next time please let me handle it on my own" Ash says in a somber tone, Leaf nods understanding what Ash means. Ash without saying a word gets up and leaves the gym and heads to the Pokemon Center to heal his Pokemon with Leaf and Misty following behind.
1 hour has passed since the 3 trainers made it to the Pokemon Center Ash's Pokemon are still being treated they've been sitting at a table and haven't said anything to each other the whole hour. They finally hear a ding signaling the treatment is over, Ash Misty and Leaf run to where Nurse Joy is.
"Are my Pokemon okay?" Ash asks
"Why yes they just need to rest for 20 minutes, and they'll be fine" Nurse Joy responds, the 3 trainers sign in relief.
"Thank you, Nurse Joy," the 3 trainers say, Nurse Joy nods and smiles back, 10 minutes go by, and Ash gets up from the table.
"I'm going to go take a walk" Ash says leaving the two girls by themselves usually they would want to go with Ash, but both know that Ash needs his space.
Ash is walking around Pewter City playing todays battle in his head and wondering what he could've done differently Paul's words also keep replaying in his mind causing Ash to doubt his training and maybe Paul was right, Ash continues to walk until someone grabs his shoulder he turns around and sees Flint.
"You seem troubled son anything bad happen today?" Flint asks curiously, Ash looks down and responds, "I lost my gym battle" Ash says in a sad tone, "Anything else?" Flint asks, and Ash continues "I failed my Pokemon and Paul was right I was pathetic" Ash states as he continues to look down.
"So" Flint says causing Ash to look at him with a confused look, "What do you mean so?" Ash asks with a hint of anger in his voice
"I meant what I said you shouldn't let someone else's words get you down I don't know you very well, but I can tell that you're a good trainer and your Pokemon love you" Flint says as Butterfree's Pokeball wriggles in agreement causing Ash to give a little smile.
"But how do I beat Brock he's way stronger than me I can never win" Ash says
"Your right Brock is a very strong trainer I would even say he has skills above a gym leader" Flint says
"Then why doesn't he compete in other regions and leagues?" Ash asks
"He has his reasons come with me" Flint responds and forcefully pulls Ash
Ash and Flint are hiding behind a bush and peeking into someone's house through the window. "Isn't this illegal?" Ash asks whispering, "Quiet and look" Flint whispers back, Ash looks back at the house and sees Brock taking care of kids that look like younger versions of himself.
"Brock I'm hungry" one kid asks, "Hey Brock can you help me with my homework?" another kid asks, "Brock can you sew my stuff Pokemon its arm ripped" a little girl asks with tears in her eyes.
"Yes, Yes I'll get to it I'm your big brother I'll make sure to help all of you" Brock says with a cheerful smile and the kids give a happy cry, Ash and flint then leave and continue to walk through town.
"Whoa I never expected Brock to have a very busy home life and being able to care for his siblings" Ash says
"Yeah, Brock is an amazing person being able to do everything by himself" Flint says
"But what about his parents?" Ash asks, "Well his father is a deadbeat who left 6 years ago to continue traveling and his mother after not seeing her husband for a year decided to leave the house to look for her husband leaving Brock to take care of his siblings all by himself.
"I see if I continue to listen to all this sad stuff, it'll make me want to go easy on Brock when I battle him again" Ash says, and Flint gets a small smirk.
"Didn't you say you can never win?" Flint asks, "Will I've changed my mind if I want to be a great Pokemon trainer I can't let this loss or Paul's words stop me" Ash states as he gives Flint a determined look
"Okay then it's time to train go get your Pokemon I'll help you" Flint responds, Ash gets a big smile on his face and quickly runs back to the Pokemon Center to get his Pokemon. Flint looks up at the night sky and thinks to himself "he really reminds me of you Red".
"I hope Ash is alright he's been gone for 20 minutes" Misty says while laying her head on the table
"I'm sure he'll be okay I've known Ash for a long time and I'm confident he'll bounce back from this" Leaf says trying to comfort Misty, they then hear the doors to the Pokemon Center open and see Ash run to Nurse Joy's desk requesting his Pokemon, Nurse Joy hands Ash his Pokemon with Pikachu jumping on Ash's shoulders he quickly runs out of the center leaving Leaf and Misty dumbfounded.
Leaf shakes her head "Let's follow him" Leaf says Misty agrees and the two girls go after Ash.
Ash is now at Flints house, he's waiting outside with his Pokemon as Flint went to grab something, Flint comes back out and has a disc in his hand.
"What's that?" Ash asks
"This is called a Technical Record or TR for short it's a machine that teaches Pokemon moves they can't naturally learn TMs are the same, but you can only use TR's once" Flint responds
"That's cool so what move does that TM have?" Ash asks with stars in his eyes, with his Pokemon doing the same.
"It contains the move Hydro Pump I got this from one of the miners in the far Galar region" Flint says
"And you're really giving this to me are you sure I'm worthy enough to have this?" Ash asks
"I'm sure" Flint responds back with a smile; Ash gives a nod as Flint hands Ash the TR he then walks over to Magickarp"
"You ready to learn Hydro Pump Magickarp?" Ash bends down and asks the fish
"Karp" Magickarp gives a nod as Ash places the disc on Magickarp's head and it learns the new move.
"Alright let's test it out use Hydro Pump on that rock" Ash commands and points to the rock, Magickarp nods, it closes its eyes and begins to concentrate allowing the water to build up inside until its mouth is filled with water it then shoots the water very quickly not only destroying the rock but also nearby trees as well.
"Karp, Karp" Magickarp jumps up and down happily as Ash his other Pokemon and even Flint have surprised looks on their faces, at that moment Misty and Leaf show up and see the destruction Magickarp caused.
"Ash!" Misty and Leaf call, making Ash lose his surprised face and turning back at his two friends and giving a smile
"Hey guys!" Ash says
"Ash what's going on are you training?" Misty asks
"Yeah, I just used this thing called a TR and taught Magickarp Hydro Pump" Ash says showing the empty disc and pointing at the destroyed rocks and trees.
"That's so cool Ash!" Leaf says excitedly with stars in her eyes as she begins to examine the TR disc
"If you like, would you two, be able to help Ash train?" Flint asks walking up to the children
"What do you say guys will you help me?" Ash asks, Misty and Leaf look at each other and smile "Of course!" they respond, "Thanks guys!" Ash says and his Pokemon also get excited.
"Now then let's teach Pidgeotto the move Featherdance it'll help with lowering the attack power of a Pokemon, we'll also need some water Pokemon to help Magickarp control his hydropump and for Pikachu well need a Pokemon that can tank multiple hits so Pikachu can use Iron tail more" Flint says.
With that everyone gives a cheer and begin to train Spreow and Butterfree help teach Pidgeotto how to use feather dance they also teach Pidgeotto the move tailwind, Leaf's Poilwag and Misty's Starmie help Magickarp with trying to control Hydro Pump and Pikachu trains with Leaf's Ivysuar to use multiple Iron Tails at once the training goes on for 3 hours with PIdgeotto and Pikachu mastering Featherdance. Tailwind and Irontail while Magickarp does have better control on Hydro Pump its only able to fire the move 3 times. Ash, Misty and Leaf head back to the Pokemon Center to rest so Ash is ready for his re match against Brock.
It's now the next morning Ash, Misty and Leaf enter the gym and see Brock waiting. "So, you've come back already were you able to get enough training in?" Brock asks, "Yeah I've some surprises for you today" Ash says with confidence in his voice. "I like that determined look in your eyes let's begin" Brock states as he and Ash go to their sides of the battle while Misty and Leaf go the audience area, they notice that a bunch of kids who look like Brock are sitting in the area too.
"This will be a 3 v3 rematch between Ash the challenger and Brock the gym leader only the challenger is allowed to make substitutions now please bring out your first Pokemon"
"Go Pidgeotto!" Ash yells and sends out the brave bird
"Go Geodude!" Brock calls, everyone (except Ash) is surprised that it's the Alolan Geodude and not the Kanto one, "I thought he'd do that" Ash mutters to himself
"Pidgeotto vs Geodude battle begin!" the ref announces.
"Use Rock Polish!" Brock makes the first move by increasing Geodude's speed and the rock pokemon starts zooming all over the battlefield. This doesn't bother Ash one bit he smirks and calls for his move.
"Use Tailwind!" Pidgeotto gives a loud scream and starts to flap its wings creating wind for it to ride on, "Use Thunder Punch!" Brock calls but Geodude misses the attack, "Now use FeatherDance!" Ash commands as Pidgeotto summons a bunch of white feathers covering Geodude greatly decreasing its attack. Brock sees what Ash is doing and is impressed, "He's doing a lot better today than yesterday" Brock says to himself with a smile.
"Now use Steel Wing!" Ash calls as Pidgeotto quickly flies at Geodude slamming its wings on Geodude's head, "Now that its close use Thunder Punch!" Brock commands as Geodude lands the supereffective hit on Pidgeotto the move still hurts the bird Pokemon but thanks to feather dance lowering Geodude's attack Pidgeotto isn't knocked out. "Use one more Steelwing!" Ash calls Pidgeotto slams its wing on Geodude again and the rock Pokemon is sent backwards groaning a little in pain also Steewings second effect kicks in like Iron Tail it can also lower the opponent's defense.
"Way to go Pidgeotto return for now!" Ash call's back the bird and sends out his next Pokemon "Magickarp I choose you!" Ash sends out the fish Pokemon who's ready to battle and get its revenge, Ash looks and sees the Tailwind is still active he gives a smile and calls for an attack.
"Use Tackle!" Ash commands as Magickarp flies at a blinding speed hitting Geodude before it and Brock could react, normally an attack like tackle wouldn't phase Geodude but since its defense was lowered the Tackle did a lot of damage but not enough to knock it out. The Tailwind finally went away, and Brock quickly calls the next attack.
"Use flamethrower!" Brock yells as hot fire shoots out of Geodude's mouth and heads straight for Magickarp, MagicKarp looks back Ash and nods while Ash does the same.
"Magickarp counter with Hydro Pump!" Ash yells shocking Brock, Geodude, Brocks's siblings and even the referee. Magickarp lets out a big stream of water from its mouth the Hydro Pump consumes the Flamethrower the move keeps going until it hits Geodude.
"GEO!" Geodude cries out in pain, Hydro Pump stops Geodude falls on the ground defeated. The ref shakes his head, "Geodude is unable to battle Magickarp is the winner!"
"Alright!", "Pika!", Karp, Karp" Ash, Pikachu and Magickarp yell in excitement in defeating Geodude.
"Good job Ash!" Misty says
"Way to show that Pallet Town Spirit!" Leaf yells while jumping up and down
Brock recovers from his shock and returns Geodude he tells it good job, "I really wasn't expecting Magickarp to use Hydro Pump I've heard they are able to learn the move but you're the first trainer I've seen using a Magickarp with Hydro pump in person I can also tell that Magickarp just learned the move recently too because how tired it is. "Yeah, we just learned the move last night even though it's a very strong move Magickarp can't do it repeatedly yet" Ash responds and returns the fish Pokemon to give it a rest.
"I must say I'm also really impressed with the tailwind and featherdance strategy you made" Brock says as he sends out the Kanto Geodude, "Hehehehe Thanks!" Ash responds and sends Pidgeotto back in.
"Pidgeotto vs Geodude begin!" The ref calls
"Geodude use Stealth Rock!" Brock called
"Oh no you don't Pidgeotto use Quick Attack then use Steel Wing!" Ash calls Pidgeotto quickly flies into the air lands the Quick Attack and lands the Steel Wing on Geodude knocking it out.
"Geodude is unable to battle Pidgeotto is the winner Gym leader Brock has one Pokemon left" The referee says.
"Great job Pidgeotto one more and we'll win" Ash says and Pidgeotto gives a PIJO in approval
"Ash is doing really great out there" Misty says with Leaf nodding her head in agreement
"Yeah, but Brocks Onix is going to win" the second oldest sibling says with his siblings nod in agreement.
Brock recalls his Geodude, "Well Ash, you've made it this far you've really impressed me but let's see if you can handle my Onix!" Brock throws the Pokeball and out comes the giant rock snake giving a mighty roar ready for battle. "Here it comes" Ash says with a serious look and straightening his hat.
"Onix vs Pidgeotto battle begin!" The ref calls and Ash makes the first move
"Use tailwind!", "Thought so Onix hide yourself and cover the field with sandstorm" Brock calls. Pidgeotto begins to successfully summons the Tailwind and Onix summons the sandstorm hiding itself and covering the battlefield.
"Pidgeotto use gust to blow this Sandstorm away" Ash calls Pidgeotto tries but there's too much sand so Pidgeotto can't get rid of the move the sandstorm is also chipping away at the bird's health. "Use screech!" Brock calls as Onix gives a loud screech in Pidgeotto's direction lowering the birds defense significantly. "Pidgeotto use Feather Dance in the direction screech came from" Ash commands Pidgeotto launches the feathers in the direction but doesn't feel the attack connected.
"Your tailwind and feather dance strategy were pretty good Ash, but it doesn't work if you can't find the target" Brock says while crossing his arms. Ash grits his teeth he knows Brock is right he goes to return Pidgeotto but Brock yells his next move.
"Use Iron tail!" Onix instantly emerges right in front of Pidgeotto slams its tail on the bird knocking it to the ground and instantly knocking it out Onix then goes back to hide in the Sandstorm.
"Pidgeotto is unable to battle Onix is the winner" the ref announces as Ash returns Pidgeotto tells it good job and sends Magickarp back in. Magickarp comes out and is instantly hit by the SandStorm surprising the fish Pokemon.
"Magickarp vs Onix battle begin!" the ref calls
"Onix use Rockslide!" Brock calls as Onix fires the rocks hitting Magickarp and causing some damage.
"It's okay MagicKarp lets get rid of this Sandstorm use bounce to get high into the air!" Ash commands as Magickarp jumps high into the air surprising Brock. "Now spin and use Hydro Pump!" Ash yells as Magickarp starts to spin and firing the water move clearing the field from the Sandstorm now that the field is clear Ash scans the area but can't find Onix, MagicKarp lands back on the ground and is also looking for the giant rock snake.
Brock smirks "Now Onix appear and use bind!" Brock yells as Onix appears from underneath MagicKarp and starts to squeeze the fish Pokemon tightly.
"Karp" Magickarp says painfully
"So that's what happened Onix used dig to hide underground that would explain why Pidgeotto's attack didn't work and why I couldn't find Onix earlier" Ash comments while clenching his fist with Brock nodding that Ash is right. "Onix use screech!" Brock commands as Onix screams at Magickarp lowering its defenses, "Now smash it on the ground with Iron Tail and end this!" Brock yells and Onix begins to charge up its attack.
"MagicKarp try to break free with Bounce!" Ash commands, Magickarp hearing its trainer's plea glows a bright blue and forces itself out of Onix bind shocking everyone, Magickarp then charges forward and slams into Onix head with bounce and successfully paralyzing the giant rock snake.
"Now use Hydro Pump!" Ash yells and Magickarp fires the move giving it all it has pushing Onix into the wall greatly injuring the giant pokemon but Onix won't go down, yet it roars and charges at Magickarp.
"Finish it with Iron Tail!" Brock yells
"Try another Hydro Pump!" Ash yells Magickarp tries to fire the move, but it's reached its limit for today its hit by the Iron Tail flies by Ash and hits the wall defeated.
"Magickarp is unable to battle Onix is the winner both trainers have one Pokemon left" The ref calls, Ash returns Magickarp and tells it good job Ash looks at Onix's condition and sees that he only needs to land one more hit to win, Ash looks at Pikachu.
"You ready buddy?" Ash asks, Pikachu sparks its cheeks and nods
"Okay Pikachu I choose you!" Ash turns his hat backwards and Pikachu jumps into battle.
"Both trainers have one Pokemon left Pikachu vs Onix battle begin!" the ref calls and Brock makes the first move.
"Onix use Rockslide!" Brock calls quickly, "Pikachu use Quick Attack to jump on the rocks to get close to Onix!" Ash calls both Pokemon use their moves Onix summons the large rocks and throws them at Pikachu, Pikachu runs and leaps on each rock quickly getting closer to Onix on the last rock Pikachu jumps high and dives straight toward the rock snake.
"Use Iron Tail!" Brock calls, "Counter with your Iron Tail too!" Ash calls and the two Pokemon clash with their tails.
"Keep using Iron Tail Onix! "You too Pikachu!" Both trainers yell and their Pokemon continue to clash with Iron Tail. The clashes go on for a few more moments until both trainers realize it's not getting them anywhere their Pokemon notice as well.
"Use Screech Onix!" Brock calls Onix gives a big ear-piercing screech that not only lowers Pikachu's defense but also blows the yellow mouse backwards crashing into one of the boulders.
"Pikachu!" Ash yells
"Now Iron Head!" Brock commands as Onix charges and crashes into Pikachu causing massive damage to the yellow mouse. Normally Pikachu would've fainted, but Pikachu forces itself up not wanting to lose this and wants to win the battle for Ash Pikachu let's out a massive Thunderbolt showing its not done yet.
"GO PIKACHU!" Misty and Leaf give a loud cheer and even some of Brock's siblings are cheering for Pikachu.
"That's one impressive Pikachu Ash but it's time to end this" Brocks says staring at Ash the boy thinks to himself. "Man, I just need to land one more attack but how do I get in close that's it" Ash smiles and yells at Pikachu.
"Pikachu were going to do something crazy get ready!" Ash yells and Pikachu gives a nod while everyone else is confused.
"Pikachu use Thunderbolt while charging at Onix" Ash says with a smirk making everyone confused.
"Did Ash lose his marbles Leaf? He knows Electric type moves won't work on a ground type, right?" Misty asks the also very confused Leaf "Uh I guess and I'm pretty sure Ash knows his types though he would sometimes fall asleep whenever the topic was brought up at school" Leaf responds
Pikachu charges forward and starts firing a Thunderbolt at Onix, the move lands and does nothing to the rock snake and Pikachu keeps getting closer.
"What are you planning Ash?" Brock thinks about it as he continues to watch Pikachu get closer to Onix he realizes what Ash is doing.
"Onix quick use Iron Tail!" Brock quickly commands but was too slow and Onix feels the effects of the paralysis. Pikachu leaped off the ground high above Onix and begins to charge its tail.
"GO PIKACHU IRON TAIL!" Ash yells
"PIKA!" Pikachu yells and smashes its tail as hard as it could on Onix's head forcing Onix down on the ground and creating a giant dust cloud. Everyone tries to see through the cloud as soon as the dust clears Pikachu is standing while Onix is on the ground defeated.
The referee clears his throat "Onix is unable to battle Pikachu is the winner gym leader Brock has no more Pokemon thus making the challenger Ash Ketchum of Pallet Town the winner!"
"YEAH!" Ash let's out and loud scream as does everyone else, Pikachu runs and jumps into Ash's arms.
"We did it Pikachu we won are first gym badge" Ash says, and Pikachu gives a happy Pika.
"ASH!" Ash turns as he sees Leaf running full speed toward him tackling both him and Pikachu into the ground and giving a big hug.
"You did it Ash you really did it!" Leaf says while squeezing Ash and Pikachu, "Thank… You… Leaf… Please…. Let…. Go…. Of…. Us" Ash says, and Leaf lets go allowing Ash to stand up and Pikachu climbs on Ash's shoulder. Ash and Leaf look at each other give each other a thumbs up and a high five.
"Congrats Ash" Misty says walking up to Ash and Leaf, "Thank you Misty" Ash says with a big grin causing both girls to laugh, Brocks's siblings and even the referee run up to Ash and congratulate him.
Brock walks up to Onix and puts his hand on its head "Thank you Onix you battled really hard take a good rest" Brock says Onix nods and is sucked into the Pokeball. Brock begins to walk to Ash everyone stops congratulating him and get out of Brocks way. Brock makes it to Ash and the two trainers stare at each other in the eye for a few moments as Brock smiles and breaks the silence.
"Congrats Ash you've earn this the Boulder Badge" Brock hands Ash the badge, causing Ash to smile.
"I got the Boulder Badge!" Ash says while holding the badge in the air and Pikachu gives a happy Pika.
"So where are you going to get your next badge?" Brock asks, Ash gives it some thought but then Leaf speaks.
"How about the Cerulean City gym that's where I'm going to get my second badge next and I'm pretty sure Gary and that Paul guy are going there as well" Leaf says with a smile.
"Alright then Cerulean City it is!" Ash yells excitedly raising his fist in the air
"Yeah…" Misty says with a nervous voice, but no one notices except for Brock who doesn't pay it any mind "She'll let them know when it's time" Brock says in his mind.
30 minutes have gone by Ash, Misty and Leaf are in the Pokemon Center waiting for Ash's Pokemon to be healed and for Ash and Misty to send Leaf on her way.
"You sure you don't want to travel with us?" Misty asks with a sad look on her face
"Yeah, my catching and research instincts are really kicking in I still need to complete the goal that Professor Oak gave us in completing the Pokedex" Leaf says while raising her fist in the air
"Right, I forgot about that" Ash says while rubbing his head
"I really wanted to spend more time with you guys one of my plans was taking you to the Pewter Museum to look at all the fossil Pokemon" Leaf says with a sad look
"Fossil Pokemon?" Ash and Misty ask curiously
"Fossil Pokemon are Pokemon said to live thousands to millions of years ago they all died off and became fossils but as time moved on humanity was able to find a way and bring those Pokemon back and I'm pretty sure your dad has a Aerodactly Ash" Leaf says
"Your right my dad does have one in the books they say that Aerodacty are very dangerous Pokemon but whenever you, me and Gary played with Aerodacty as kids it was always very gentle with us, my dad also told me that in battle Aerodacty is very fierce and not a lot of trainers can beat it when it gets serious" Ash says and Leaf nodding also remembering the time visiting the Ketchum house or Professor Oaks lab to play with Aerodacty.
"So anyway, another reason as to why I'm leaving early is because I heard there's a scientist in Mt. Moon who is not only giving away fossil Pokemon native to Kanto but also ones from other regions as well there's a certain one I want to revive so I need to hurry and grab it before anyone else no one will stop me" Leaf states with a fiery look in her eyes while Ash and Misty get a sweat drop and nod.
"Oh, and one more thing Ash let's meet up again at Vermillion City I got this poster 2 days ago saying there's going to be a battle tournament on the SS. Anne and the winner receives a Pokemon egg from the Sinnoh region so let's battle again and see who'll get the egg" Leaf says while giving Ash a determined look.
"You're on!" Ash says with excitement in his voice
"I'll join too!" Misty announces shocking both Ash and Leaf "If I'm going to be a water Pokemon Master I need to show everyone just how great water Pokemon are, and I feel winning this tournament will help" Misty finishes as Ash and Leaf get an excited look on their faces.
"The more rivals the better!" Ash and Leaf say at the same time causing them both to look at each other and laugh.
"Hahahaha it's been a while since we said the same thing at the same time" Leaf says while laughing
"Hahahaha I agree" Ash says while also laughing
"You two really are like twins hehehe" Misty says with a small chuckle causing all three trainers to continue to laugh happily.
5 minutes later Leaf gives Ash and Misty a hug saying goodbye and runs out of the Pokemon Center going in the direction of Mt. Moon Ash and Misty continue to wave goodbye until Leaf is out of sight Ash and Misty head back in the building and hear that Ash's Pokemon are fully healed Ash grabs his Pokeballs while Pikachu climbs on Ash's shoulder. Ash and Misty decide it would be best to head out tomorrow morning they head to their rooms in the center and go to bed.
It's now the next morning and we see Brock taking care of all his siblings until he hears a knock on the door. Brock goes and opens the door and sees the man we know as Flint, but Brock in shock says one word causing all his siblings to turn around.
"Dad?" Brock asks
"Yes, that's me" Flint takes off his hat and beard showing a man that looks like Brock but clearly older.
"What are you doing here?" Brock asks with a very shaky voice
"I've come to finally take responsibility, raise my kids and allowing you to go on your journey" Flint says shocking Brock
"You expect me to believe you after you left not only us but mom?" Brock asks with his voice showing signs of anger
"I know it's hard for you to trust me but after being gone for so long I've finally realized what I need to do as not only a father but also a husband" Flint responds
"What do you mean as a father and as a husband we've been taking care of ourselves just fine without you and mom, besides a year after you left mom left to go find you, we don't know where she is she could be dead!" Brock says raising his voice and his siblings getting scared they've never seen Brock get this angry before.
"That's where your wrong Brock Lola you can come out now!" Flint calls and a woman with short brown hair walks up to the house and looks at her angry son
"Hello sweetie" The woman says
"Mom?!" Brock says with a surprised look on his face he reaches his hand towards the woman, wrapping her in a hug causing Brock to shed tears.
"I sniff thought you were dead sniff" Brock says while crying
"Yes, I know I'm sorry for leaving you and your siblings behind to fend for yourselves, your father actually saved me when I was looking for him" Lola says, and Brock looks at Flint with a surprised look
"You did?" Brock asks
"Yeah, to summarize your mother found me in the Galar region 2 years ago when I was training in the snowy mountains of the Crown Tundra she was pleading for me to come back home but I refused then a strong snowstorm came your mom was caught, me and my Pokemon instantly stopped training and went to go save her she could've died if I hadn't taken her to a cave and nursed her back to health and in that moment I finally learned what I was doing was wrong and needed to go back to my family" Flint says
"It was pretty similar to that time when we were teenagers traveling with Red, Delia, Sabrina, Riley and Yellow we got caught in a strong snowstorm and you saved me then as well, that was when I truly fell in love with you, and we had our first kiss that day" Lola says causing Flint to blush remembering that day
"Why now why didn't you show yourselves earlier?" Brock asks as tears continue to flow from his eyes as Lola tries to wipe them away.
"Well until now it didn't feel like the right time you seemed really content on your life here so I didn't think you needed to go out on a journey of course I now realize how dumb I was, and I was about to reveal myself to you yesterday but then Red Ketchum's son appeared and I knew he would be the right person for you to go on a journey with you." Flint says
"Ketchum wait you mean to tell me that Ash is the son of Red the trainer you traveled with when you were younger?" Brock asks
"Yes, the very same one I feel if you travel with him, you'll help not only him grow but yourself as well and finally achieving your dream of becoming a Pokemon Breeder or something else that interest you" Flint says while smiling towards Brock
"You don't need to worry about your siblings either well take could care of them" Lola says giving Brock a reassuring look, Brock looks back at his siblings they all give him a nod that they'll be okay, and he should go and achieve his dreams.
Brock smiles and rubs his tears from his eyes "Your right it's time for me to finally start my journey!" Brock states as his parents give a nod of approval "Oh but before I go here are somethings you need to learn about how to take care of everyone". Brock begins to read off the list causing Flint to be overwhelmed Lola giving a chuckle to Flint and telling him it'll all be okay.
After 10 minutes Brock quickly packs his things, gives his siblings, mom and dad a hug and dashes off to catch up to Ash.
When then cut to Ash and Misty who reached the exit to Pewter City, they're about to walk through it until they hear someone.
"Hey wait for me!" Ash and Misty turn around and get a surprised look that its Brock
"Brock what are you doing here?" Ash asks confused
"Isn't it obvious from this day forth I'm going to be traveling with you guys" Brock says with a smile
"But what about your siblings?" Misty asks
"Don't worry my parents came back but they're in good hands" Brock says with a smile, Ash is about to say something regarding Brocks parents but decides not to he holds out his hand.
"It's great to have you traveling with us Brock" Ash says as Brock takes his hand "You too Ash I can't wait to see you grow into an even more amazing trainer than you already are" Brock says
"This is great Pikachu we got a new travel buddy, and we didn't need to destroy his bike either hehehe" Ash laughs not realizing what he said Pikachu gets a nervous sweat drop.
"Hmmm what's this about a destroyed bike?" Brock questions as he looks at Misty and gets a scared look on his face "Uh Ash I think we should run" Brock says with fear coming out of his voice.
"Why?" Ash looks around and sees that Misty transformed into a demon and gets scared as well realizing his mistake he begins to run as fast as he can with Pikachu holding on tightly.
"YOU DARE JOKE ABOUT MY BIKE AND RUN AWAY I'M NOT LETTING YOU GET AWAY ASH KETCHUM!" Misty says in anger and starts to run after Ash both trainers leave Brock behind, and the tall teen starts to chase after them.
"Hey, don't leave me behind!" Brock yells trying to get Ash and Misty's attention
"YOU'RE NOT GETTING AWAY ASH!" Misty yells in a demonic voice
"I've already said I'll pay you back and said sorry so stop chasing me!" Ash yells with worry in his voice and sprinting full speed ahead
"PIKA!" Pikachu yells while holding on to Ash
The 3 trainers continue to run what other fun adventures will Ash, Misty and Brock have? find out next time in the next chapter.
