Eddy vs Maylene
Eddy was sitting on his side of the arena, waiting in anticipation for Maylene to return so they can have their gym battle. He went over Ed and Edd's gym battles and went over what he knew about Maylene's Pokemon and what moves he knew they can use. After some thought, he came up with which Pokemon he was going to use in his gym battle. One hour later, Edd and Maylene came walking in through the front doors. Maylene went to her side of the gym's field while Edd joined Ed in the bleachers.
"I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long." said Maylene.
"No problem." said Eddy as he stood up and stretched.
"In that case, shall we get started?" asked Maylene.
"Ready when you are." said Eddy. The referee walks to the center of the field.
"This is a three-on-three gym battle between the challenger, Eddy; and the gym leader, Maylene. Both trainers will battle until one has no Pokemon that are able to battle. The trainer with any Pokemon able to battle after the match is the winner. Now let the battle begin." said the referee. The referee steps off the field and Maylene and Eddy each pull out a pokeball.
"Meditite, I choose you." said Maylene as she threw her pokeball, releasing her Meditite.
"Golbat, come on out." said Eddy as he releases Golbat from his pokeball.
"Meditite, use Psybeam." said Maylene. Meditite releases a Psybeam attack towards Golbat.
"Golbat, dodge it!" said Golbat. Golbat dodges the Psybeam just before it hit him.
"Meditite, keep using Psybeam." said Maylene. Meditite fired multiple Psybeams at Golbat.
"Golbat, keep dodging." said Eddy. Golbat dodged Psybeams left and right. After a minute of doing so, Eddy was starting to get frustrated. "I have to put a stop to those stupid Psybeams. Okay, Golbat. Use Astonish." said Eddy. Golbat turns around, then quickly turns back towards Meditite, startling him and doing super-effective damage, along with causing Meditite to flinch, ending the barrage of Psybeams.
"Oh no." said Maylene.
"Oh yeah. Now Golbat, use Air Cutter." said Eddy. Golbat releases a barrage of blades made of air at Meditite, doing super-effective damage and knocking it out.
"Meditite is unable to battle. Golbat is the winner." said the referee.
"Way to go, Golbat." says Eddy. Golbat smiles at Eddy. Maylene returns Golbat to its pokeball.
"Good work, Meditite." said Maylene. She puts Meditite's pokeball back into her pocket and then pulls out another one. "Machoke, I choose you." said Maylene as she releases her Machoke from its pokeball. "Now, Machoke. Use Knock Off." Machoke jumps up at Golbat and brings down its arm on Golbat.
"Golbat. Block it with Poison Fang!" said Eddy. Golbat's fangs glow purple and he bites down on Machoke's arm. It does damage to Machoke, but Machoke's Knock Off attack still had enough force behind it to send Golbat plummeting to the floor. When Machoke landed on the floor, it suddenly turned purple and it looked ill.
"Machoke! What's wrong?" asked Maylene.
"Poison Fang has a chance of poisoning the Pokemon its used on." said Edd.
"I better take out that Golbat and quickly." said Maylene. "Okay, Machoke. Use Rock Tomb." Machoke dumps rocks on Golbat, doing super-effective damage, along with reducing his speed. Golbat was hurt, but was still hanging in there.
"Golbat. Don't give up. Use Supersonic." said Eddy. Golbat uses Supersonic on Machoke, inflicting it with confusion.
"Machoke. Use another Rock Tomb." said Maylene. Machoke tries to use another Rock Tomb, but confusion it to end up hurting itself. Maylene looked nervous.
"Okay, Golbat. Use Air Cutter one more time." said Eddy. Golbat releases another Air Cutter attack, doing enough damage to knock Machoke out.
"Machoke is unable to battle. Golbat is the winner." said the referee.
"Yes! One more to go." said Eddy. Maylene returns Machoke to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Machoke. Take a good rest." said Maylene. Maylene looks towards Eddy. "You trained that Golbat of yours well, Eddy."
"Well, I don't like to brag." Eddy began to say.
"Yes you do, Eddy." said Edd from the bleachers.
"Zip it, sockhead." said Eddy. Maylene pulls out her last pokeball.
"Let's see that Golbat handle my strongest pokemon." says Maylene. Eddy stands ready, for he knew what Maylene's last Pokemon was.
"Here it comes." said Eddy.
"Lucario, I choose you." says Maylene as she releases Lucario from its pokeball. Lucario stares at Golbat who looked like has almost reached his limits.
"Golbat. Are you okay? Do you want to take a break?" asked Eddy. Golbat looks at Eddy and nods. Eddy didn't look like he wanted Golbat to continue in his condition, but if Golbat wanted to continue to battle, then Eddy didn't want to take that away from him. "Okay, Golbat. If that's what you want."
"I admire your Golbat's fighting spirit, but it won't be enough to beat Lucario." said Maylene.
"We'll see about that. Golbat, use Poison Fang." said Eddy. Golbat bites down on Lucario's arm; but it didn't look like it did anything.
"Eddy! Lucario is part steel-type! Poison-type attacks are useless against him!" said Edd.
"Now you tell me." said Eddy.
"Okay, Lucario. Use Metal Claw while Golbat is within range." said Maylene. Lucario's hand that was attached to the arm that wasn't being bitten by Golbat turns into metal and strikes Golbat with enough force to send him flying into Eddy's arms. Eddy looks at Golbat and saw that he was knocked out.
"Golbat is unable to battle. Lucario is the winner." said the referee.
"Good work, Lucario." said Maylene. Eddy pats Golbat's head.
"You did great, Golbat. You took down two of Maylene's Pokemon. I'm proud of you, buddy." said Eddy. He then returns Golbat to his pokeball. "Take a good long rest." Eddy puts Golbat's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Graveler, I choose you." Eddy throws Graveler's pokeball, releasing him.
"Eddy! Don't you remember Oreburgh Mine? Rock-types like Graveler are at a disadvantage against fighting-types. Also, they're weak against steel-types." said Edd.
"I have a plan, Double-D." said Eddy. "Graveler, use Bulldoze." Graveler slams down on the floor, sending a shockwave through it which hits Lucario, doing super-effective damage and reducing Lucario's speed.
"Excellent plan, Eddy. Not only are ground-type moves like Bulldoze super-effective against steel-types, but Bulldoze will slow Lucario down a bit." said Edd.
"Quick, Lucario. Use Drain Punch on Graveler." said Maylene. Lucario's fist starts to glows green and he strikes Graveler with it, doing super-effective damage. Fortunately, thanks to Graveler's Sturdy ability, he was still standing. Lucario's wounds from the Bulldoze attack looked like they were healing quickly, much to Eddy's surprise.
"What the...Why are Lucario's wounds healing?" asked Eddy.
"Eddy. Drain Punch is like a fighting-type version of my Roselia's Absorb attack. It will not just do damage to Graveler, but it will use the energy it takes from him to heal Lucario as well." said Edd.
"He's right." said Maylene.
"I wish I knew about that sooner. I have to take him down quickly before Lucario uses that move again." said Eddy. "Hurry, Graveler. Use Bulldoze again." Graveler hits Lucario with another Bulldoze attack, doing more super-effective damage and lowering Lucario's speed a bit more.
"It's pointless to resist. Lucario, use Drain Punch one more time." said Maylene. Lucario hits Graveler with another Drain Punch, this time it knocks Graveler out. Lucario's wounds heal, but surprisingly, not nearly as much as before.
"Good thing that Graveler almost had no energy left. Drain Punch couldn't absorb enough from him to heal Lucario much." said Edd. Eddy returns Graveler to his pokeball.
"You did great, Graveler. You rest up, pal." said Eddy. He puts Graveler's pokeball back in his pocket and pulls out his last Pokemon. "Monferno. It's all up to you now. Give it your best shot." Eddy releases Monferno from his pokeball. Monferno hops around in anticipation for the battle.
"Lucario, use Bulldoze." said Maylene. Lucario releases a Bulldoze attack at Monferno.
"Monferno. Jump up to avoid it and come down with a Rock Smash on Lucario. Monferno leaps into the air to avoid Bulldoze and hits Lucario with a Rock Smash attack, doing super-effective damage and lowering Lucario's defense in the process.
"Good move, Eddy. Fighting-type moves are effective against steel-types." said Edd.
"Quick, Lucario. Use Drain Punch to heal yourself." said Maylene.
"Not so fast. Monferno, use Mach Punch." said Eddy. Faster than Lucario can react, Monferno charges in fast and strikes Lucario in the face, doing super-effective damage. Lucario was struggling to stay on its feet.
"Lucario!" said Maylene.
"Oh, yeah." says Eddy. "Monferno, use Flame Wheel." Monferno engulfs himself in fire and rolls fast into Lucario, doing super-effective damage and knocking it out.
"Lucario is unable to battle. Monferno is the winner. The winner of the match is the challenger, Eddy." says the referee.
"We did it!" says Eddy. Monferno runs over to Eddy and hugs him. Maylene returns Lucario to its pokeball.
"You did great, Lucario." said Maylene. She then walks over to where Eddy and Monferno are. "And you two did an amazing job as well."
"Thanks, Maylene." said Eddy.
"As proof of your victory, here's your Cobble Badge." said Maylene as she hands Eddy a Cobble Badge and some pokedollars.
"Check it out, guys. I got a Cobble Badge." said Eddy.
"Congratulations, Eddy." said Edd as he and Ed came down from the bleachers to join Eddy. Ed hugs Eddy tightly.
"Ed...I can't breathe." said Eddy. Ed releases Eddy. After that, the Eds went to the Pokemon Center so Eddy can get his Pokemon healed. While that was being done, the Eds were celebrating their victories and going over what they were going to do next.
"So what now?" asked Eddy. Edd pulls out the map and looks at it.
"It looks like the next gym is in a place called Pastoria City." said Edd.
"Then that's our next stop. But for now, we'll take the rest of the day off and celebrate." said Eddy. After celebrating, the Eds went to their room and went to sleep.
