Nyx
Be safe you two.
It was Odin. I had never thought I would hear anything like that from Odin. I glanced at Loki. He showed no signs of hearing what his father said. My eyes went to the muzzle he still had on his face. He didn't need to wear it anymore. I stopped and stood in front of him. He looked down at me.
What?
I reached up and unstrapped the muzzle. I pulled it away from his face. He looked awful with all the scratches on his face. I did nothing for them though. They would heal on their own and they were part of the consequences from his actions on Midgard.
"Let's go to your room first." I hooked my arm with his and headed towards his room.
"Why aren't you mad at me?" I almost stopped, but I continued to his room.
"I'm not mad at you, Loki." He didn't say anything.
I didn't think he believed me. I was upset with him that Phil died, but I wasn't going to let it affect how o treated him. We arrived at his bedroom. I opened the door and let him in first. I closed the door behind me. I felt Loki behind me.
"I don't believe you." I grit my teeth.
I didn't want to do this now.
"I'm not mad at you, Loki. I am mad at him. Thanos is the reason why Phil is dead, not you. Just pack your bag." I ducked under his arm.
I wished he would just leave it alone. I went to his balcony and let him pack. It was silent for a while. Then I finally heard him rustling around his room. I took a deep breath and enjoyed the sunlight and the flowers below in the garden. I remembered all the happy memories I had here with my parents and Loki. I was sad that I would have to leave this place again.
"Nyx?" I looked over to see Loki next to me.
He was cautious. His body was tense. I smiled at him.
"Have you finished packing?" He looked irritated.
"Why aren't you mad at me? Why aren't you yelling or something? I killed someone you loved. How are you so calm?" I looked away.
I didn't want to answer him because I'm not calm. I'm not yelling because I didn't want to take my anger out on Loki even though he deserved some of it. Truthfully I wanted to save it all for Thanos.
"Loki, just finish packing." I walked away from him.
"Quit walking away from me, Nyx." I froze where I stood.
Stay calm, Nyx. Keep it together.
"Say what you need to say. Let out how much you hate me!" Shit.
I spun around and pinned Loki to a wall, "I DON'T HATE YOU! I HATE THANOS!"
Loki looked surprised. I felt my lower lip starting to tremble. I pulled myself away from him and walked out, slamming the door behind me.
Meet me at your mothers room.
I transported myself to my house and began gathering the things I wanted.
Loki
Meet me at your mothers room.
The look on Nyx's face was full of anguish and hatred. She made it very clear that she hated Thanos and not me. However, there was sadness in her eyes. Sadness I hadn't seen in a long time. I gathered my bag and left my room. I pondered how Nyx might feel having to be around me. She told me she loved me that day I fell through the wormhole. I told her I loved her as well, but does she still feel that way? I didn't know and I couldn't check because my magic was bound.
"Loki?" I looked up.
My mother was standing before me in front of her chambers. I smiled at her. I was happy to see her.
"I have come to say farewell, but I have something I must ask before I go. It is about Lady Nyx," She smiled at me, "come in, my son."
I did just that.
Nyx
I gathered the things I wanted from my home and then from my room in the palace. I went to the stables. I saw Mystique frolicking with a foal. A beautiful mare came up and nudged Mystique. Tears gathered in my eyes. I looked down at the grass beneath my feet. I couldn't take Mystique away from his family. I looked up and smiled at the little family.
Goodbye Mystique.
I turned away. I heard a whinny from behind me. I turned around and found Mystique at the fence. He was pawing at the ground. I walked up to him and pet him.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't try to leave without saying goodbye. You're my only family left here on Asgard." I rested my forehead against his.
I closed my eyes. This was goodbye. I opened my eyes and smiled.
"Goodbye Mystique. Stay happy." I hugged him one last time.
I bit my lip. This would be the last time I would see him. I kissed his forehead and turned away. My vision became blurry, but I would be okay. I would miss him a lot, but he was happy. I wouldn't rip him away from his family like the universe had done to me. I heard a whinny and spun around. A male colt was running towards me. It stopped short of me. It whinnied at me. It looked like Mystique. I looked up at Mystique.
"Are you sure?" Mystique turned to the mare.
They both moved their heads up and down.
Thank you both.
I patted the colt in front of me, "what should I name you little one?"
I smiled at the little horse. I smiled as the little colt pranced around.
"Magne. You will be Magne." The little colt whinnied and ran to Mystique.
I walked up to Mystique and the mare next to him, "thank you both. I will leave the little colt here until I depart for Midgard. Thank you both again."
I bowed to the two horses. They whinnied and I smiled. I turned away. I transported myself inside the palace in front of the queen's quarters.
"Loki! She still loves you, you just have to give her time. She lost her home, her best friend, and another parental figure," I cringed, "it will be a bit before you should expect answers out of Nyx. She came here knowing what possibility might have awaited her. Your father may have thrown her in prison to rot, but he didn't. He listened to what I said and changed his mind, Loki. Love is not conditional, my son. Nyx loves you, but a part of her has accepted your death. She also knows you had a hand in the death of someone she loved. She just needs time, Loki. Show her you're there for her. She will come around, my son. You two loved each other as children. I have no doubt you two will love one another again. Love is patient and kind. You two just need that chance to love again."
Tears were falling down my face. I did still love Loki. Everything she said was true, but the image of Loki stabbing Phil was burned in my mind. I bit my lip.
We need to leave before I decide to stay.
I wiped my eyes and knocked on the door, "May I come in, your majesty?"
The door opened and Loki was in front of me. I looked up and met his gaze.
Did she hear any of what my mother spoke of?
"Are you ready, your majesty?" He frowned at me.
I hate that she is so formal with me. I wish she would treat me how she used too.
"Hello, Lady Nyx." I was surprised.
I bowed, "Hello, my Queen. I hope you are well. I apologize for my behavior the last time I was in Asgard. I never meant you harm."
I didn't move. I wasn't going to. I didn't deserve to. I felt hands grabbing mine. I looked up and saw the Queen in front of me.
"Lady Nyx, an apology isn't necessary. I knew you meant me no harm. You just needed time to bring my son home. Thank you for that, for bringing both my sons home to me, even if one of them is leaving again." I smiled at her.
Will you take care of him on Midgard?
I nodded. I would risk myself before I let anything happen to him.
I swear it, your majesty. His life will come before my own as it did on Asgard.
I bowed, fisting my right hand over my heart.
Farewell, my Queen.
"Goodbye, Lady Nyx," I stood up, "say your goodbye's Loki. We must leave."
Loki met my gaze and turned to his mother. He hugged her.
"Farewell, mother." I turned away.
He was being forced to come to Midgard because I demanded that be where he serve his punishment. I'm taking Loki away from his family. I couldn't leave them with no way to communicate. I summoned the mirrors my parents made for me. Communication worked both ways. I turned towards Loki and the Queen.
"Your majesties," they turned to me, "these were gifts from my parents when they went off to war. They were a way for us to stay in touch while they were gone. I have no need for them any longer."
I smiled at the mirrors in my hands.
Are you sure, Nyx?
I looked up at the Queen and smiled.
I am.
Loki and his mother each took one. I turned away.
"Meet me at the Bifrost, Loki. I will let you say your goodbyes privately." I transported myself to the bridge.
I turned back and looked over all of Asgard. I would miss it. I heard a whinny and turned around. Magne was standing beside Heimdall. I smiled.
"When Loki arrives will you send us to Midgard?" He nodded.
I knelt down in front of Magne.
"Hello, little one. Are you ready for Midgard?" A whinny came from behind me.
I turned and saw Illea, Loki's horse from earlier. He stopped next to me. He lowered his head and nudged Magne.
May I come with you?
I locked eyes with Illea. That had never happened before. I had never heard an animal speak to me before.
Yes.
Illea nudged me.
Thank you.
I was shocked. I had never experienced this before. I didn't know it was possible to speak with animals telepathically.
"Are you ready to return to Midgard?" I looked up and saw Loki.
"We are." I smiled at Heimdall.
"Will you make sure we arrive at my farm in Rose Hill, Tennessee," Heimdall nodded, "as you wish Lady Nyx. Farewell, Prince Loki."
We were on Asgard, then we were home.
