Chapter 4 - The Frostwalker, The Windblitzer, and The Realist Within

Subzero temperatures chill the air of a walk-in freezer, any normal person inside without warm clothing for extended periods of time would undoubtedly get frostbite and even suffer from hypothermia if stuck inside.

Fortunately, Frostine Cole is not a normal person.

A layer of ice lines the floor as she slides around in her bare feet, wearing light clothing as her bare hands move along the frozen walls of the freezer, feeling each bump of the metal walls.

Some would call the room inhospitable but to Frostine, it is her paradise.

The outside world is lethal to her, only being able to last a short time before her Quirk starts to kill her.

Frostine Cole

Quirk: Refrigeration

The user makes their surroundings very cold. Water nearby the user would freeze from proximity alone, and the user is painfully cold to the touch, this happens because of the user's ability to draw in and absorb any heat from the surrounding area. The user will overheat if they absorb too much warmth,

The only way she can live outside her room is in a refrigeration suit designed to keep her cold.

Frostine stops sliding around her room, a notification on a laptop designed to function within her room pops up and Frostine moves to check her messages.

A page of the Charles Jones School for the Dangerously Quirked is opened and Frostine scrolls through the pages, and a smile spreads across her face as an image of the school shows that it is near the top of a mountain.

A freezing snow covered mountain.

Frostine beams with excitement "A chance to meet other people, and to go outside without that suit! Skiing! Snowball fights! Swimming!" So many possibilities that don't involve the suit.

She sends a link of the school's application to her parents, eager to finally have a chance at a normal life.

Rows upon rows of plants stretch along the French countryside, each plant carrying dozens of grapes, all being grown to fuel the French wine industry.

A girl rides a bicycle down the dirt road that cuts through the vineyard, from a distance the girl looks normal but a closer look reveals feathery brown hair and dark-gold textured hands with clipped talons on each finger. Specially designed shoes hide her three-toed feet and rear claws.

Sidonie Martel pedals down the dirt road, gaining more and more distance from the city. She turns down another path and heads into a field of wild grapes.

Sidonie sets her bike up against a wooden fence and heads into the field, eventually finding a spot to set down her things to begin her day.

Sidonie sets her sight on an overgrown grape tree and takes a deep breath.

Sidonie Martel

Quirk: Serrated Squall

The user uses kinetic energy generated from the body to create whirling bursts of air that cut and slice what they touch.

Sidonie swings her arm creating a burst of air that races towards the tree and uncontrollably changes direction and cuts a branch of another tree.

Sidonie takes another deep breath, stepping closer to her original target, and she then blows air out of her mouth, creating another burst of air, but unlike the air from the movement of her arm the burst of air dies down after moving around four meters.

Sidonie swings her arm again and a third burst of wind moves towards the tree, but then changes direction and hits the ground.

Sidonie pauses her training as the sound of an airplane flying overhead catches her attention. The noises of a propeller get closer and eventually a biplane flies over her, flying only a few meters above the trees.

Sidonie frowns, recklessly flying like that is only going to get someone hurt or even worse.

She heads back over to the dirt road and watches as the biplane lands, using the dirt road as a runway.

Two individuals exit the plane, one takes out a container of fuel and pours it into the plane while the other one appears to keep watch.

Sidonie backs further into the treeline, the individuals seem suspicious and she doesn't know how they would react if they saw her.

Their reactions do happen as a truck pulls onto the dirt road and heads right for the biplane.

An younger looking man hands one of the two men a briefcase and they open it up, the man keeping lookout pulls out a wad of cash and checks it before putting it back in.

The second person pulls out a rifle and hands it to the young man, they set up a few metal cans, and the crack of rifle fire echoes around the fields.

The young man puts the rifle into the car and pulls out a bottle of wine, giving it to the men in the plane before they go their separate ways.

Sidonie had just witnessed the illegal buying of a gun.

She watches as the plane starts up and takes off into the air, flying off while the truck drives in the opposite direction.

The truck drives past her and heads into the town. Still hidden, Sidonie pulls out her phone and takes a picture of the track's license plate before texting it to the police.

Those who dream big, set themselves up to fail.

Miguel Aguila firmly believes in this, and while most people would call him cynical for his views, he sees himself as a realist.

Although even with his beliefs, Miguel is still a very committed person, he just keeps his goals at things that are believable and realistically possible.

Miguel Aguila, cannot stand the baby crying in the seat behind him on the plane. The shrieking and ear piercing screeching of the toddler makes his head ache.

Miguel wants to turn around and give the mother of the child a piece of his mind, but the fact that the flight is nearing its end keeps him in check.

His destination is Switzerland, more specifically the Charles Jones School for the Dangerously Quirked. While Miguel isn't a fan of the choice in school his father has made for him, he does understand that this school is important to his future.

After all, when one can manipulate gravity itself, it is important for that person to have control over their Quirk.

Miguel Aguila

Quirk: Gravitokinesis

Gravitokinesis is a rare and powerful quirk that allows the user to manipulate Gravitational fields allowing one to increase or decrease gravity, be it a general area or individual objects, up to a thousand yards.

Miguel looks at the mountains of Switzerland as the plane approaches its destination, his phone now playing news of events in Europe instead of his home country of Colombia. The story of a man with a rifle in his truck being arrested after being reported by some girl plays, but Miguel swipes past it without batting an eye.

He doesn't care for those who break the law, in his eyes they are idiots. Of course Miguel does understand that some people just don't have any other choice but to break the law, but in his eyes if a person cannot succeed in life without breaking the law, then they were never meant to succeed at all.

The crying of the toddler intensifies as the plane deals with some turbulence and Miguel grips the arms of his seat. He has attempted to ignore the kid for hours, but his patience has started to reach its end. Miguel taps his phone and clicks on a pamphlet on Switzerland for tourists. A sees several ski resorts are located not too far from the school, and a new mall is being finished in the middle of a train station that has a route to the school, but the school itself is pretty isolated.

The only thing the school has is just a bus stop that leads to a town which connects to the train routes.

Which has its benefits, isolation is good when it comes to teaching people with uncontrollable Quirks, but it also has its downsides.

He'll be stuck with eleven other people, and Miguel will have to listen to all their impossible dreams, desires, and goals.

And like the toddler behind him, his patience is going to he tested.

Hello R Falt here, and dang I was right about being awful with deadlines. Luckily Chapter 5 has already been started by the time this chapter is published, so hopefully this means I can get the next chapter published sooner rather than later.

Anyways I will now start accepting Hero and Villain submissions in the discord (Note that your Heroes/Villains will be placed where I think they will fit best, which means your character could either appear early in the story or far later in the story).

(As usual I have broken the link to the discord server due to Fanfic)

With all of that out of the way, thank you for reading and I will see you all next chapter.
