Planet Earth, Age 749

"Alright, are we ready to go?" Gohan encouragingly asks his allies, who are a bit shocked at his eagerness, compared to his normal calm nature.

"Yeah! Let's find these Dragon Balls!" Kakarot shouts excitedly, prompting Bulma to give a slightly weaker "Y-yeah!" in response.

The trio re-capsulizes the house they had spent the night in before Bulma pops open the capsule containing the car. She waves her arm as a gesture to enter, but before Gohan can open the door, he senses something odd nearby.

"Hold on, I think there's something weird going on." Gohan explains, walking towards a bushy area. Kakarot follows close behind, and despite her slight concern, Bulma follows as well. As Gohan pushes past the bushes, he hears an odd voice speaking. "Ho ho! I'm gonna love a nice turtle snack!"

Eventually, Gohan pushes through the bushes, keeping himself hidden from the voice. A small distance away, he sees a giant figure in strange armor wielding a blade. However, the oddest thing about him isn't his size, but his structure. His body is similar to that of a bear, with ears, a snout, and brown fur covering his body. In front of the bear man, a turtle cowers in the shadow made by the bear.

Gohan, thinking back, remembers that turtle. It looks just like… the turtle on Master Roshi's island! Back when he and Goku went to visit Master Roshi, and the day that Raditz arrived.

"No, please! Someone help!" The turtle cries out. Gohan stands, vanishing from sight to the shock of Bulma and Kakarot and appearing between the bear man and the turtle.

"Sorry, sir. You'll have to leave." Gohan demands. The bear can only stand in confusion as to how this guy got here, but his confidence remains unwavered.

"Har har har! Nice try, pipsqueak, but nothing's gonna stop me from gettin' my meal!" The bear prepares his blade, holding it over his head to swing. "Die!"

He swings the blade. Bulma and Kakarot can only cover their eyes in terror, but Gohan lifts his hand in the middle of the swing, catching the blade with relative ease. The bear, upon realizing what just happened, jostles the handle of the blade to wrench the sword from Gohan's hand, but the half-Saiyan's grip doesn't let up.

"I think that's about enough." Gohan clenches the end of the sword between two of his fingers and twists, snapping the blade in two pieces. Throwing the remaining piece away, Gohan watches as the bear man cowers back. However, Gohan gives the bear no room to breathe, running in and punching the bear's stomach, sending him flying back into a nearby mountain wall, unconscious.

The two girls look on in shock, but Turtle only sees the fact that he's alive. "Thank you! Thank you!" The reptile looks up at Gohan, thanking him profusely. Gohan squats down to Turtle's level, putting on a giddy, yet slightly unfaithful smile.

"Of course! Anything else we can help you up with today?" Putting on his best secretary impression, Gohan can only hope that Turtle brings them to see Roshi, or else even more will be ruined in this timeline.

"Please! Can you take me to the sea? My master would surely help you out!" Turtle begs, and Gohan readily nods.

"Of course! Let's do it!" He declares, catching his allies off-guard for the third time that day.

"Yay! She'll be so happy to see me back!"

For the first time all day, Gohan stumbles a bit. His smile fades. "Did you say… she?"

"Hoo hoo hoo! Thank you for bringing Turtle here!"

Gohan has seen many a thing in the past two decades of his life, but seeing his father's pervert master as some old woman is something brand-new. She somewhat resembles the hermit he knows, but there are obvious differences. Instead of the clean chrome-dome that he had in Gohan's own timeline, she had long, straight white hair, and luckily for the young half-Saiyan, she was missing the white beard and mustache.

Other than that and a few additional… assets, she was practically the same person.

"U-um, yeah…" Bulma mutters, made a bit uncomfortable by the strange old woman before them.

"Which one of you helped Turtle out?" Roshi asks, leading to Turtle pointing straight towards Gohan. "Hm, wonderful! Allow me to reward you!" The woman takes a strange stance, before calling out "Flying Nimbus!"

From the sky, a small, yellow cloud floats down near the group. "He he he, this is Nimbus! Hop on top and you can fly in the sky!" A memory runs through Gohan's head, remembering this cloud from their trip to Roshi's home in his own timeline.

Thinking what his father would do, Gohan speaks up. "Thanks, but I think Kakarot could use it better than I ever could."

"M-me?" Kakarot points to herself, having looked at the cloud in slight jealousy the whole time.

"Sure! I've got no use for it anyways!"

"Okay!" Kakarot runs over to the cloud, immediately jumping on and taking the Nimbus on a small joy-ride. "Wow, this is crazy!"

While watching the young girl try the cloud out, Gohan walks up to the Turtle Hermit. "Excuse me, but while we're here, have you seen anything like this?" He reveals the object of their travels, a Dragon Ball.

"Huh? Well, that looks just like…" Roshi rummages through her pockets, comically looking for something. After a bit of searching, she removes the massive turtle shell from her back, causing a small orange ball to fall to the ground.

"Ah, there we are!" Roshi looks at the ball and prepares to give it to Gohan, when a gross thought runs through her head. "Say, if you want this thing, I could give it to you… for a price…"

Bulma, finally rejoining the conversation, hears in on the sound of a cost. "Huh? A cost?"

"Yeah! You gotta…" Roshi puts her hand to her hips, thinking of an appropriate cost. A scary smile covers her face as she shouts, "Give me a kiss!"

Gohan and Bulma can't help but recoil from the request, leading to Bulma yelling at the old woman. "Why should he ever do that?! You weirdo!"

"Heh, a woman has her ways! I mean, he's not your boyfriend, is he?" Roshi taunts. Hearing the word boyfriend, Bulma looks to the half-Saiyan, then back to the ground, her face blushing red.

"S-sorry, that's a bit more than I would do." Gohan cautiously rejects, but considers something new. "How about a fight for it?"

"He he he, a fight? Against me?" Roshi's smile grows wider, realizing that this will be an easy way to trick the boy. "Give it your best, boy, but if you lose, I'll be getting that kiss!" The woman enters a strong stance, while the concerned Gohan does the same.

Suddenly, the two clash, arm to staff. Gohan pushes back on the woman's staff, but she easily recovers. Gohan runs in for a flurry of blows, and just like with Grandpa Gohan, his strength advantage is nothing to her skill. Seeing none of his attacks working, he quickly leaps back, creating a good distance between the two.

"Sorry, sonny, you are strong, but you can't keep up with me!" Roshi taunts again, but as she re-positions, she realizes a certain Dragon-Ball-shaped hole in her hand.

Gohan confidently spins the Dragon Ball on his finger like a basketball. "Sorry, ma'am, but it looks like you can't keep up."

Roshi looks back to her palm, finding no Dragon Ball in her hand. Quickly, she looks back to see the trio running off. Gohan waves back to her, shouting "Thanks, old lady!". With nothing else to say, she gives a smile. "Damn kids…"

"Ugh! I've been driving forever, can we take a break?" Bulma complains from the driver's seat. Where Kakarot sat in the passenger's seat before, Gohan sits now, keeping an eye on Kakarot, who flies alongside the car on her Flying Nimbus. "Hello?!"

Gohan freaks out upon realizing her request, cautiously responding. "U-uh, yeah. Let's take a stop for a bit."

The trio had been through a lot that day. Not only did they meet the legendary Master Roshi, but they met a small pig-man who had been terrorizing a small town. Gohan easily stopped him, but instead of taking the pig with them, they simply knocked him out for the town to deal with. They even got a Dragon Ball for their work.

Finally, the car comes to a stop by a nearby desert, prompting Kakarot to stop next to them. As Gohan and Bulma exit the car, they see Kakarot saying goodbye to the Flying Nimbus for now, with the yellow cloud leaving for the next day.

"Bye, mister cloud!" Kakarot waves to the cloud, with Gohan walking up behind her. "You seem to like the Nimbus already." Gohan tells the girl, who smiles, thanking Gohan for his generosity.

"Hey! Let's hurry up and set up shop for the night." Bulma tells the two of them, but the sound of a motor running causes them to look towards the falling sun. In the distance of the sandy desert, Gohan manages to make out a strange man on a vehicle coming straight for them.

Gohan walks between them and the approaching figure. "You two go prep the house for the night, I'll take care of this."

Bulma and Kakarot quickly load up the capsule house, heading inside. Gohan smiles, before standing his ground to the person who finally arrived.

Riding on a strange vehicle, a man with long hair leaps from the machine, flipping directly in front of Gohan. He whips his hair back, revealing his face. He wears an armor-like chest-piece marked with a kanji. He wears gi pants and a small cape-like cloth around his neck. And most intimidatingly, he has a sword sheathed to his side.

"Hey. You've stepped in the territory of the great Yamcha, so if you wanna leave her with your life…" He starts to reveal his blade. "...you better hand over all you've got."

Gohan continues to stand confidently against his aggressor. "Sorry, mister great Yamcha, we're just resting for a bit. Please let us stay."

"Heh, pleas tend to fall on deaf ears around me. Better prepare yourself." Yamcha fully reveals his blade, but the half-Saiyan stands unintimidated.

Despite his confidence, the fact that this person wasn't groveling in fear already was a bit odd to Yamcha, but it didn't matter. He runs in, swinging with his sword, but Gohan evades the attack with ease. Gohan places his foot on the end of the blade, preventing Yamcha from lifting the sword.

"So, how prepared was that?" Gohan smirks, leading to Yamcha leaping back away. "Watch it, weirdo! I've barely even got started!" Yamcha runs in with a kick, but Gohan dodges out of the way. Yamcha turns for a volley of attacks, but Gohan evades all of them as well.

After leading with a final punch, Gohan dodges, kicking Yamcha onto the ground.

"Sorry, great Yamcha, but I was trained by a certain Turtle Hermit. I don't fall that easily."

Yamcha, halfway through picking himself up, realizes the gravity of Gohan's words. 'No… that gi… has he really been trained by the master Roshi? Impossible!'

He shudders at the thought that a student of the Turtle Hermit is here, but his fear turns to confidence as he throws his blade to the side. "He he, ha ha ha! This is perfect! I'll be able to prove myself fully, by taking down a student of the Turtle School with my signature attack!"

The great desert fighter takes a low stance, as Gohan goes into his own technical stance. While Bulma and Kakarot peak through a window in the capsule house, the tension breaks as Yamcha flies into Gohan, kicking. Gohan ducks under the second kick, but Yamcha continues, swiping at Gohan while declaring "Fist of the Wolf Fang!".

Gohan can only stand still, taking the attacks with little difficulty, before Yamcha attempts to launch the half-Saiyan into the distance. He prepares a two-handed push, but before it can hit, Gohan slides out of the way, uppercutting the bandit into the air.

As Yamcha flies up, he prepares to touch the ground, when a small cat-like individual appears beneath him. Like magic, the cat creature transforms into a mattress, catching Yamcha before he hit the hard ground.

The mattress turns back into a cat before speaking to the bandit. "Lord Yamcha, are you okay?!" He speaks in his high-pitched voice.

Yamcha picks himself up. "I'm alright, Pu'ar." He turns over to his opponent. "You're so much stronger than anyone I've ever faced. But for now, I admit defeat." He closes his eyes when he speaks, which makes it all the more shocking when Gohan walks up, offering a hand.

With a small lapse of fear, Yamcha takes the man's hand, getting pulled up onto his feet by Gohan.

"So, u-um, are you actually a Turtle School student?" Yamcha asks. "Sorry, not really, but I happen to know… her." Gohan responds, catching himself before he makes any more mistakes to this timeline.

Seemingly missing Gohan's near-mistake, Yamcha asks, "W-would it be possible if, um, I c-could…"

Not wasting any time, Gohan wraps his arm around Yamcha. "Sure, buddy! Welcome to the group!"

"S-sure…" Despite the look of slight dismay on his face, Yamcha looks on excitedly to meet the legendary Turtle Hermit, and maybe get a lot stronger, too.

Gohan smiles confidently, before realizing a major issue. "How the hell am I gonna explain this to Bulma and Kakarot?!"

Again, the group sets off, now with two new members in tow. In one car, Bulma, Kakarot, and Gohan continue their travels, as behind them, Yamcha and Pu'ar go it separately after realizing that Gohan was traveling with two girls. Gohan didn't quite get why, but he didn't have any arguments

They arrive at a strange site, that of a large flaming mountain. The group leaves their cars as Gohan approaches a wall nearest to the mountain. "What on earth?" He continues to walk closer to the mountain when a giant ax flies into the wall.

A massive man in an intricate garb arrives. He wears a mask covering his eyes, with horns coming from both sides of his head and a feather poking in the middle. Over the spots where his eyes would be are strange mechanical lenses, almost like binoculars. He wears a red cape and blue armor marked with stars. But the most notable thing about him was his stature.

The group looks up at the man, realizing that he was about two, maybe even three, feet taller than the tallest member of the group. Even Gohan, who knew this man very well in his own time, began to sweat just a bit

"Ay! What're yer doin' on mah land?!" The giant man intimidatingly looks over at the group, but particularly at the main man there, Gohan. While the remaining members of the group have retreated to the car, Yamcha speaks up to Gohan.

"U-um, dude?! This guy i-is the crazy powerful O-Ox King!" He stammers, but Gohan has no fear.

"Relax, Yamcha. I'll handle this." Gohan turns back to the giant man, who breathes heavily at what seems to be a group of intruders. "Sorry, sir. We're on the hunt for the Dragon Balls. We believe that you might have one?"

"Huh? Dragon Balls? You talkin' 'bout that ball wit' the stars on it?" The Ox-King asks, seemingly calming down a bit.

"That's the one. Would you happen to have it?" Gohan wonders, but Ox seems to ease up, a bit upset.

"Unfortur-natly, that there ball 's currently in that blazin' fire! Ere's only one way to stop that fire! Ere gonna need the Bansho-sen, and the only one who has that is my master!" Ox somewhat looks down, upset that he can't fix this himself, but Gohan jumps up onto the nearby wall.

"Don't worry, Mr. Ox-King. I'll take care of this for you!" Gohan gives a smile to the giant man, but the Ox only snickers at the thought. "What's a pipsqueak like you gonna do 'bout this fire?!"

"Heh, I'll show you." Gohan focuses on the flaming mountain ahead. He breathes in, and then breathes out. As he looks onto the mountain, he moves one hand into the air and one below him, spinning them around his body. Gohan connects his hands, holding them above his head as a ball of green energy.

"That's… that's an energy attack!" Ox shouts in shock, with the rest of the crew looking on at Gohan. Bulma knew this guy was a good martial artist, though maybe a bit weird, but energy attacks? How powerful was this guy?!

Green electricity sparks from Gohan's hands, radiating around his body and creating a crackling sound that scares everyone else there.

Finally, Gohan pulls his hands in front of his body, shouting "MA-SENKO, HA!" The ball of green ki expands into a massive beam, which flies into the mountain, creating a massive explosion that not only extinguishes the fire, but takes the whole mountain face with it.

"How was that?" He turns back to the group, but all of them are in sheer awe. He looks back, only to realize the mistake he made.

"The-The mountain…" Gohan falls back onto the ground, much to the dismay of his allies.

After picking himself up, Ox walks up to the young man. "Tell ya' what, kid. You're pretty good. I'll give you that Dragon Ball if ya' do me one request."

"Sure, what do you need?" Gohan responds, acting calmly as if he didn't just obliterate an entire mountain in one go.

"Ya' see, my daur'ter went off lookin' for the Bansho-sen herself, but I haven't seen her since! She's a strong girl, but can you go an' find her? 'Er name is Chi-Chi. Ere's a picture of her!" He holds up a picture of a young girl with long black hair and a strange helmet on her head.

"She's l-lost?" Once again, despite destroying a giant flaming mountain, this realization causes him a bit more concern. 'Dad never told me anything like this happened!'

"Yeah! We can find her!" Gohan responds.

Patting the half-Saiyan on the back, Ox tells the boy "Thanks, lad! I appreciate it!" before the group rounds back up and sets off to find this girl.

After a few minutes of driving, Kakarot spots something out of the corner of her eye. "Is that her?"

Gohan and Bulma look in Kakarot's direction, only to nearly stumble over from what they see. They see a young girl in an odd outfit running from what seems to be a Tyrannosaurus Rex. He recognizes her quickly as Chi-Chi, although she wears something far different from what Gohan thinks she would. As if that wasn't strange enough, Chi-Chi slows her pace and turns to face the Rex, giving the beast an opportunity to nearly strike her.

Gohan realizes the danger his past-mother is in, quickly busting the door of the car open and appearing between the girl and her attacker. He delivers a punch straight to the dinosaur's snout, knocking it unconscious as Chi-Chi simply stands confused, her hands still holding onto the blade attached to her helmet.

The man turns towards the young girl, before asking "Say, are you Chi-Chi?"

"Y-yeah. How do you know my name?"

"We spoke to your father, the Ox-King. He asked us to come find you. Are you alright?"

"Yes, thank you, mister!"

Gohan smiles, before a hard smack hits his head. He turns to see Kakarot standing next to an angered Bulma. "Idiot! Look what you did!" Bulma yells as she points to the car, now missing a door due to Gohan's antics.

As Gohan apologizes for his mistake, the four of them, plus Yamcha and Pu'ar in tow, head back to the now-damaged car to head back to the Ox-King.

Kakarot, now sitting in the backseat with the young Chi-Chi, looks over to her. "Hey, are you a martial artist, too?"

Chi-Chi turns to Kakarot, still a bit bewildered from being attacked by a dinosaur, but says "N-not yet. My daddy is, but he hasn't fought in a while."

"Oh, really? That Ox guy is a martial artist, too? I thought he was just some big old guy!"

In defense, Chi-Chi smacks the Saiyan girl, nearly shouting "Excuse you! My daddy is one of the strongest people in the world!"

"Are you sure? I've met that Turtle lady, and I think she's stronger."

Chi-Chi's face goes red with anger, as she turns and crosses her arms, clearly upset by Kakarot's declaration. "So what! I may not be very strong, but me and my daddy will become the strongest!"

Finally speaking Kakarot's language, Kakarot says "Oh, yeah? I'm looking forward to it! We should fight when you get a lot stronger!" Smiling wide, she holds out her fist, and despite Chi-Chi's reservation and rage, she accepts the fist bump. "Okay! But I won't go easy on you!"

The group drops Chi-Chi off, who immediately tells her father to begin her training. Pointing at Kakarot, she says "I'm not gonna that girl bad-mouth us!"

"Let's leave." Gohan demands, as before Ox can realize the situation, Bulma hits the gas, leaving with Yamcha following suit.

The travels of the much larger group of Z-Warriors continues, but what antics will they find themselves coming across?

Twelve years later, and finally Chapter 10 is finished. This one has been in the oven for too long, and honestly, it kinda hurts to say that. In all regards, I've been very busy with school and work and everything going on, but this story is far from over.

Very far from over, because by my estimations, it's probably gonna take nearly a hundred chapters to write all I want to go through. So be ready for that, I guess.

But yeah, Chapter 10. I don't think this is my best chapter, especially because I really want to ignore early Dragon Ball (this is one of my least favorite arcs of all time), and move on to the major events, but I can't really skip this because it's very important. Simply put, the next one or two chapters after this might be a little boring, but once we get past the Red Ribbon Army arc, I think things will change for the better.

No new what-ifs for now, but since this is the tenth Chapter, here's a little spoiler of one of the what-ifs I'll be using down the line.

And that what-if is...
