Ok, so I had some writer's block and then decided that just rewriting the series with Stephanie not interfering would be boring so from here on out I'm having another member to the group, sadly I couldn't do the quartz I wanted because this is before Crack the Whip. We don't have a lot of clues as to what the uncorrupted quartzes were like other than fun and rowdy so I figure I can give more personality to one of them. And just because I have my mojo back doesn't mean updates will be frequent, I have other stories I'm working on, one on Ao3 that is a lot more popular than this so my focus will be on the stories that people are actually reading instead of side stories that don't get many views.

Steven was really excited about the Beach-a-palooza coming up, he was insistent on helping Sadie get ready but Stephanie could tell the girl was uncomfortable.

"If you don't want to do this, I can," said Stephanie one day as she sat with the girl after practice.

"It's not that I don't want to, it's that I want to do it my way but my mom always takes over!" exclaimed Saide

"I can't help it if I make a scene, stepping out of my hot pink palanquin, I'm turning heads and I'm stopping traffic," sang Stephanie under her breath

"Did the song change in your time?" asked Sadie

"A little, my great grandmother on my dad's side sometimes sings this new version to me," said Stephanie

White diamond still didn't understand cars, Connie had said they were like a palanquin on wheels, explaining wheels was even harder to explain to the massive diamond.

Stephanie smiled as her father came to the realization that he was trying to live one of his dreams through Sadie and took her place on the stage. Stephanie went out with him, determined to do at least one performance with her father.

Steven was excited for the duet, it seemed to come so effortlessly to them.

They went home laughing, Stephanie had been sleeping in Rose's room since she sort of knew how it worked.

She was awoken by a ruckus as Peridot dragged Steven off somewhere.

She wanted to chime in about the cluster but knew that if she did then Aunt Peridot would never become a Crystal Gem.

She looked around at the galaxy warp, she knew that if she could sneak back here once she unlocked her healing powers she could hopefully get back to the first colony.

"Stephanie do you know what she was scared of?" asked Steven

"Yeah I do, but I can't tell you, that's going to have to be my mantra so just assume that I know and can't say anything," said Stephanie

"Drat," said Steven

Once the crystal gems had left the room and went into their own rooms she went over to Steven and smirked.

"Go talk to her, I'll open the burning room but I need to stay out here," said Stephanie

"Thanks," said Steven, running into the burning room.

She went back into Rose's room but was awoken yet again by a commotion outside.

She groaned, what was it now?

Peridot was locked in the bathroom.

When Steven left to use the bathroom outside, much to his annoyance, Stephanie decided she could help in this situation without much issue.

"Look, Peridot, I get it, you're a really long way from home with people you don't know and you feel trapped," sighed Stephanie through the door

"How could you possibly know that?" snarled Peridot

"Because I'm from the future, stupid ancient gem artifact," said Stephanie

"You clod, you touched the Time Glass of Lost Hours?" laughed Peridot

"Yeah, look you can't tell them that though," said Stephanie

"I know that, not even the diamonds mess with time anymore," laughed Peridot

"I forgot you used to be a jerk," muttered Stephanie

She walked away, figuring it was better to let her dad handle this, she'd still help with the Malachite issue and the cluster drill but dealing with this version of Aunt Peri was not going to be fun.

The next morning Steven talked to Peridot as Stephanie warped to the sky arena to practice with a few inflatable training dummies she always kept in her bag.

Pearl and Garnet were watching.

"Perhaps you would prefer to train with the holo pearls," said Pearl

"That would be good, these dummies go down too quick," said Stephanie

She switched from her sword to her rejuvenator, causing Pearl and Garnet to gasp.

"Where did you get that?" asked Pearl

"It was a gift, I also have gem destabilizers but I make sure I know how to use this in case it's truly necessary," said Stephanie

"Garnet, what if a corrupted gem was rejuvenated? Would it set it back all the way or just to before being corrupted?" asked Pearl

"There is a way of getting a gem's memories back after being rejuvenated, unfortunately, that would fall to both of you unless it's one I hang out with like one of the quartzes," said Stephanie

"They're healed in your time?" asked Pearl

"Yeah, almost a decade before I was born though, and I can't tell you how because of spoilers. But I think maybe it would screw up the timeline too much if one of them was uncorrupted now," said Stephanie

"Stephanie, almost all of Steven's timelines lead to you, and looking at many futures I can't see any of them changing who you are as a person," said Garnet

Stephanie sighed, she did want to change things for the better.

"Ok, but just one for now, any more and it might change things too much and there is no guarantee they won't re-corrupt once they regain their memories which might take a while in the first place," said Stephanie

"Who though?" wondered Pearl

"Lace Amethyst, she's really fun and I think Amethyst might be able to look up to her as a mentor," said Stephanie

"That might be a good idea, oh I can't wait to see her again," said Pearl

"In order to get their memories back you will need to figure out what pivotal moments of their lives made them who they are and recreate that," said Stephanie

"Should be simple enough, Lace Amethyst was always easy going and was one of the first crystal gems because she got bored with working on colony building and wanted adventure," said Garnet

"Yeah, she's fun to hang out with, volleyball with all the quartzes is super fun and super dangerous," said Stephanie

"Then it's settled, we will get Lace Amethyst back," said Garnet

They warped into the temple and went into the burning room.

Stephanie took a deep breath and popped the bubble, the corrupted form of the gem emerged.

Twirling the rejuvenator like Spinel she slashed through Lace's form.

The gem fell to the ground but was caught by Garnet.

"Hopefully this works," said Stephanie

"It should," said Garnet

The quartz began to form. Her Blue Diamond insignia on her uniform.

"Where am I who are all of you?" she exclaimed

"Relax, you are on earth and there have been quite a few changes," said Stephanie

"Lace, I know you don't remember us but we were good friends thousands of years ago," said Garnet

"I need to start working, where is the rest of my unit?" asked Lace

"They aren't here and you don't have to work on anything you don't want to, how about we go on an adventure?" asked Pearl

"Adventure? What's that?" she asked

"Exploring the unknown, doing things no gem has done before," said Stephanie

"Really? That sounds cool,"

"Stephanie how about you teach Lace how to play volleyball," suggested Garnet

"Ok, I guess," said Stephanie

"What is Volleyball?" asked Lace

"It's a game, you hit a ball over a net and if it hits the ground you get a point," said Stephanie

"How hard do I hit?" asked Lace

"As hard as you want," said Stephanie

"Awesome," said Lace

She spent the next hour trying to keep up with the quartz. Having to use her shield for some of the moves. She knew Peridot was likely explaining the cluster to the gems.

"Do you want to try food next? I know a place where there are a lot of strawberries," said Stephanie

"That sounds awesome, I'm up for anything!" said Lace

Stephanie smiled, this might actually work.

Warping to the Strawberry Battlefield, the scent of fresh strawberries and soil permeated the air.

"This place seems familiar somehow," said Lace

"It was where the crystal gems had their last stand against homeworld's forces, but earth changes and turned this once barren wasteland into a field teaming with life," said Stephanie, picking a large strawberry as big as her head.

Lace followed her lead in biting into the large strawberry.

"Woah, this is awesome, what more adventures can we go on?" she asked

"Wherever you want, that's the beauty of Earth, the freedom of being who you want instead of what someone else tells you to be," said Stephanie

"Who I want to be," smiled Lace

There was a bright glow and her form began to shift. But something was going wrong, the white light was shifting.

Stephaine's heart pounded in her ears as she relied on instinct, her own diamond powers coming out to counter the damage as it seemed to be reoccurring.

A pink blast hit Lace Amethyst as she was changing. The power of one diamond vs three, but it was enough somehow.

The desperation behind the counterblast really took a lot out of her, she didn't even know she could do that, she doubted Steven ever did either.

Lace gasped.

"Where are Pearl, Garnet, and Rose?" she asked looking around in a panic.

"Long story, I'll take you to Pearl and Garnet," said Stephanie

Getting back to the temple, Lace saw two of her old friends.

"GARNET! PEARL!" she exclaimed

The three gems crashed into each other.

"Stephanie you did it!" said Pearl

"Yeah, and I'm not doing it again," she said, flopping onto the couch and sleeping.
