A female with waist-long purple hair, wearing a short tube dress with mostly white and purple as the main color and reddish purple lines and small golden decorations on the front, though she has no left hand, stands high above the cloud while gazing below with a blank look. She sees some people walking out of a building, wearing a certain school winter uniform.
"It is almost time… Enjoy your peace while it lasts." She sighs before lifting up her remaining hand to snap, materializing a void behind her. Then walks into the void before disappearing.
Hachiman blinks as he enters the library, "…This place is a lot bigger than I thought…" He looks around while ignoring the looks thrown at him from other people then sees a desk with the words "HELP DESK" in the middle of it.
He tries to walk over there but stops as he feels something soft holding his hand, "What a lucky coincidence to meet here!" Looking back, he sees Theresa grinning at him.
"Miss Theresa." He bows before asking, "Can I ask why are you holding me?"
Theresa slyly grins, "Eh~ you're asking that when you can hold the cutest being alive's hand?" She points at an isolated table at the corner with her eyes, prompting him to slightly nod and move there with her trailing behind.
They sit down while Hachiman raises an eyebrow, "I take it this isn't a coincidence."
She wryly smiles, "Yep. Most of our A-rank Valkyries are away while the rest are teaching classes. So, rejoice, as I have taken upon myself to act as your guardian for the time being!" At the end, she beams at him.
He blinks, "…Miss Himeko had already told me about the researchers… But this soon?"
"Yep. Caught a few Valkyries they got under them snooping around you."
"…I thought both of you are on the same side?"
"Yes and no. We are on the same side but whenever… An interesting subject comes into the radar, that is when we come into conflict. Don't worry, once you are officially a Captain, then you'll be safe."
He slowly nods, "Makes sense… Wait, Miss Himeko said coordinator, not Captain."
She blinks before putting her chin on the table, "Coordinator, Captain, they mean the same… Also, did she say anything… Contradictory?"
Hachiman blinks before looking up, "She said that I was the first male human to be resistant to the Honkai radiation, though I read that Siegfried Kaslana is also resistant since he fought the Honkai?"
Theresa lets out a long sigh, "She omitted a few specific words. You are the first teenage male human from the general population to have Honkai resistance. Himeko does this to… Encourage people, since it's technically not lying, stating that "They fight better when they believe they are special and want to protect it"."
"That… Would just increase the chances of them dying due to overconfidence…?" He slowly asks while looking at her with disbelief.
She shrugs, "She got her reasons for going that path. I am just here to correct her before anybody dies. Or get someone else to do it. If there is one word that can label her, well other than alcoholic, is stubborn."
"Sounds like someone I know that is stubborn… Oh yeah, you're Kiana's aunt right?"
The moment those words come out from his mouth, the temperature around them drops while Theresa blankly says and raises her head.
"Yep."
He ignores the sudden shift in atmosphere, "I just want to ask, how come Kiana never knew of the Honkai side?" He evenly says, though he sweats a bit as the pressure increases.
"Oh~ I wonder just what gives you the gut to ask that."
"Wh-what is wrong with asking that? Did you know her face was when she told me that her family kept it as a secret from her?" He cringes as the pressure on him increases even more.
Theresa glares at him, "None of your business. You might be her friend but you shouldn't meddle in Kaslana's business."
Hachiman clenches at his pants while stubbornly glaring at her, "Why are you going so far when I am just asking a simple question?!"
"It might be simple to you but it might be complicated to another person."
"Then explain it to me! I don't want to lose my friends!"
He closes his eyes as he feels himself losing consciousness due to not being able to handle the pressure, until he feels nothing, prompting him to open his eyes to see her smiling brightly at him.
"Good for you! You have passed the first test!"
"…I had a feeling it was a test," He grumbles out loud, prompting her to stick her tongue out at him.
She slowly gets rid of her expression and settles for a tired one, "Sorry. Needed to see if you were really her friend, would have personally handed you over to the researchers if you were using her."
"I would rather die than betray my friends."
"Good answer." She nods before continuing, "As a prize, I'll tell you that she and her family lived in an isolated place with me visiting whenever I had the chance. So, we were successful in keeping that world away from them."
"…Them? Kiana never mentioned anybody else other than you and her parents?"
Theresa sardonically smiles while glaring at the table, "Not surprising since she was only five year old when it happened and must have forgotten due to the trauma."
"Just know that she has or rather had two siblings."
Kiana and Mei walk into the library then look around to find someone, "Ah! Over there!" The former points to the corner where Hachiman is reading a book by himself while facing the wall.
Kiana mischievously smiles before putting a finger to her lip at Mei, who shakes her head back and forth as she sees her smile but doesn't stop her, "Shhh, imma go scare him." She slowly creeps her way to him then taps on his shoulder.
"Hachiman~! We've come to fetch you!" She screams into his ear, making him flinch and almost fall down, prompting Kiana to laugh while Mei lightly giggles.
"Oi! Don't scare me like that!" He annoyedly says as he glares at them, "Class done?"
Mei nods while her lip twitches, "Yep. Though we need to train some more back at the house."
"Ah… And I'm guessing Kiana here slept through the class?"
Kiana stops laughing to glare at him, "Wrong! I am the perfect modal student that has –"
"She did. Miss Himeko threw a ruler at her."
Hachiman snickers while getting up from his seat, all the while ignoring Kiana shaking Mei back and forth, "Yeah, I just need to borrow this book then we can go back." He grabs the book then walks over to the counter.
On the way there and making sure Kiana is far away from him, he mutters.
"I'll ask her later tonight… Still, can't believe she is a clone of her siblings…"
*A...N*
Welp, finally time to put my own ideas into action, which alters the HI3 universe. We are approaching the first scene, out of five, I've always wanted to write for this fic! Anyway on to the comments!
calderoneric758 - I did say it in my previous A...N, but I'll save you the trouble by saying yep
Renashi-RE012 - good to see you again lol. Yep, he definitely fits it but maybe I got something else in stored for him? Anyway, don't worry so much if you see contradicting stuff here since it's all (mostly) intentional. Also, he will ride a mech for a bit since who wouldn't want to? And thank you
bluecookie420 - hmmm, I kindly disagree on the usage of former and latter but it's your opinion
BorderLand - I got lots of twist and turn for this fic, hope you are prepared for it. Also, yep. Hachiman will need all the luck in the world for him to survive (the Hachiman from the nightmare fic would need multiple world to survive lol)
Alt Zero - *gif of a pleased persian cat*
