Hey lovely readers!! Thank you so much for your amazing reviews! They mean alot! To answer the question about Zephyr's age in this story, is that she is actually 15! Old! I know! Because at the eplogue of Httyd 3, she was confirmed to be 5, so this is 10 years after that, but the eplogue never happened in this story! So when you think about it, this story is almost 20 years after the dragons officially left! Sorry if it sounds confusing loll! But yes, Zephyr is 15, Nuffink is 13, so that makes Hiccstrid and the gang, about 40! I hope that clears things up! : ) Hope you enjoy the chaper! Time for some Astrid and Zephyr moments, and Hiccstrid!

Here's a list of some of the new OC kids! And there ages

• Nuffink: 13 (Son of Hiccstrid)

Axel Larson: 17 (Not Gustav's son, he's just a decendant from his family)

Ari Eretson: 10 (Son of Eret and Saige (OC(

• Hilda Ingerman (Twin daughter of Fishlegs and Ruffnut)

- The more girly Twin, she has her hair in a layered bob, also dirty blonde. Slightly taller then her twin, also has dark blue eyes and freckles.

And there's a villain that will pop up but I don't want to give to much away yet! Hehe!

Enjoy the chapter!!

"Mom, why does dad hate me?" Zephyr asked as she was sitting down at the dinning room table with her notebook on top of it, and twirling a pencil in her left hand. Being left handed is another thing she sadly inherited from her father.

This statement alone almost made her mom drop the dishes she was holding. Hiccup? Hating any of their children? Never! It's more likely for Tuffnut to win a nobel prize then have Hiccup hate any of his children.

"Why do you think your father hates you?" Astrid asked calmly, as she placed the dishes down so she can looked at her, head on.

"Why doesn't dad want to hang out with me? Or Nuff? All he does is go to stupid meeting with other stupid chiefs that he doesn't even like." Zephyr huffed, and placed her chin in her hand.

"He told you that in confidence." Astrid chuckled as she still saw the stern look in his daughters eyes. She sighed and brought a chair up closer to her, so she can looked into her daughters eyes, and grabbed her hands.

"Look, your father is just going through alot right now! He's dealing with his own issues and I can't speak for him but I can say that he loves you and your brother so very much. He just hasn't had time to show it recently." Astrid mentioned, as she pushed her daughters bangs out of her face. She'll need a haircut soon.

"Since I'm here, what was it you wanted to ask him? Maybe I can help." Astrid asked, as she got up from her seat.

"Well, Mr. Fishlegs was doing his presentation on dragons, and I saw something about Nightfuries but he didn't elaborate on it. He told me to talk to dad about it cause he might know more." Zephyr said as she saw Astrid straighten up and bit her lips.

"See! There it is again!" Zephyr exclaimed as she stood up from her chair, with an exasperated expression.

"What?" Her mother asked, confused.

"Everytime I mentioned that species of dragon, everyone goes all werid and silent! Why? Fishlegs did, so did dad, and now you! What's the big deal about those stupid dragons?" Zephyr asked with a frustrated flap of her arms.

Astrid didn't know how to respond. She really didn't. There was no reason why they can't talk about Nightfuries or any dragon for that matter. They just don't know if Hiccup would want too. Hiccup is still a good man and a good chief and is very kind to everyone, but they have to admit, he hasn't been quite the same every since the dragons left 20 years ago. A certain gleam of optisim that was once in his eyes, are now dim and he's acting much like his father did when Hiccup was 15. Minus the cruelness.

"Your father is just..." Astrid tries to come up with the right words. "Very sensitive about the topic." Astrid says with a small chuckle. She still has a habit of talking to her daughter like she's a little kid. But she has to remember she's a teenager now who can be apart of adult conversations. She's just not ready for this conversation, and she knows Hiccup isn't either.

"Why? I thought Dragons were monsters!" Zephyr asked, with her eyebrows pressed together.

Monsters...

Monsters?!

Would a monster risk their life for a human that they hardly know? Would a monster choose to be with a human, and be by thier sides through the coldest of war, battling the most intense and horrible people in the archipelago?

Then yes, yes Dragons are monsters...

Zephyr, feeling slightly impatient of her mother's response, rolled her eyes and made a beeline for the front door. Astrid turning her head to see her leave.

"Zephyr, hold on..." Astrid drifted off. She wouldn't know what else to say. What could she say to a moody, curious 15 year old, who can't get the answer she wants?

As the door slammed shut, Astrid just stood there in silence. Not knowing if she should chase after her or not. She knows that this discussion shouldn't be anything deep or serious, but for some reason, it is.

Astrid and Hiccup always pictured thier kids when they were 20. Always thought that their kids would be just like them. Care free, adventurous, riding on the backs of dragons with their homemade flight suits, having flight races to pass time and will get super competitive.

But no, these generation of kids will never understand how truly amazing those creatures are and the joy that was brought by them.

Or what an amazing hero Hiccup was. These children will never understand what the chief has done for this village. For his people, and even for the dragons.

He ended a century long war, brought peace between the two, and set the dragons free for their own safety and happiness.

Those kids will never know the full story.

Astrid just sighs, sitting at the kitchen table, as she blows a candle out next to her.

"Hey Zephyr! What's up?"

The voice asked. The young girl looked up and saw the pair of dark brown eyes looking down at her. She was sitting down on her porch step and was sketching stars on the sand below her feet.

The voice came from Axel Larson.

She started to blush as the young boy, crouched down in front of her. He saw the sketches on the ground.

"Nice sand art. Maybe you should try sketching in a notebook. It'll last longer." He said with a smile.

Zephyr looked away slightly and bit her lip in concentration.

"I think my sand art is just fine." She giggle. Hating how girly it sounded.

"Okay! Suit yourself. Until our next rain storm hits." Axel stood up fully and took the stick out of Zephyr's hands and started walking beside her and leaned against the railings of the stairs.

"So why are you out this late? Should you be in bed?" Axel asked.

Zephyr was in that mood where she wanted to be snippy, but it's okay around Axel though. He luckily has a sense of humor that she loves so much. Cause she has quite the sarcastic sense of humor herself.

Another trait she inherited from her dad...

"I'm right outside my house. It's not like my dad is going to send a search team out to find my body in the middle of the ocean." Zephyr grunted, as she snatched her stick back from the blonde hair boy, and sat down again, in front of her sand sketches.

Axel just put up his hands in surrender and shrugged.

"Just making sure! He is the chief! He can do whatever he wants! I heard he lost his legs because he got into a fight with someone and it kinda got ugly. That's a rumour going around the island right now." The boy snickered as he sat down beside her. Legs slightly touching.

Zephyr rolled her eyes and shrugged.

"I doubt it." She breathed a small laugh.

This comment made Axel turn towards the brunette girl, with a look of confusion. Almost like he didn't understand her response.

"Wait..." The boy paused. "You don't know how you're father lost his leg? You never asked? I thought you of all people would know..." The boy, wondered.

Zephyr looked straight ahead and shrugged her shoulders once again.

"I don't know. He was missing a leg all my life. It was normal for me. I never thought to ask and he never told me." The teenage girl mumbled, as she continued to draw in the sand.

"Huh." The boy stated. "I just thought that maybe it was an epic, huge explosion that left everyone--"

"Nah, he probably just fell down a flight of stairs and his leg was so broken and they were too lazy to fix it, so they just chopped it off." Zephyr replied casually, making Axel burst into a fit of chuckles, at the girl's very strange and random prediction.

The sound of the young boys laughter filling the air, made Zephyr burst into a field of laughter as well.

As one laughed, the other laughed harder. Zephyr's face was turning red from the embarrassment but also the hilariousness of it.

She soon got interrupted by the familiar step, thunk of her father's foot steps. Except it was quieter because of the gravel he was stepping on.

Speaking of the devil...

The chief made himself at his front door step. Hands on his hips and a rather critically expression on his face. A face that was hard to read, and usually her father was easy to read like an old dragon novel.

"Oh! Hi Chief! All good here! I was just talking to Zephyr!" The young boy got up, and quickly saluted the chief, making Zephyr cringe at this act. She never understood why he always acted so professional and scared of her father. Sure, he was the chief but everyone knows that he'll never hurt a fly. He's also definitely not as strong as a "stereotypical viking," as the previous chief were. She saw the portrait of her grandfather, and good Gods, he was massive. Her father is literally half his size. Not very intimating.

"At ease." Hiccup says jokingly, as he looked the younger boy up and down, and he released his stiff arm.

"We definitely were not talking about how you quite possible lost your let!" Axel spoke, in a very sarcastic and jokingly way, making Zephyr's eyes shot open.

Hiccup looked rather surprised, but nothing much else. His hands still tightly gripping his hips, as he pressed most of his weight of his good foot.

"I see..." Hiccup mutters. "It's getting late. You should probably be on your way. Do you need an escort?" Hiccup asked to the young boy, who was busy playing with his wavy, curly hair.

"No, that's okay, chief. Thank you! I'll see you tomorrow, Zephyr." He said to the girl and plainly, went off his way, down the dark walkway.

Hiccup watched the boy leave for a few seconds. By the time he turned back to his daughter, she was trying to get back into the house. By the time he reached her, she was already inside.

"Zeph..."

"We were just talking, dad! Nothing more!" The girl sighed, as she took off her boots and put them by the fireplace.

"Why were you outside anyway? Did you get locked out?" Hiccup asked with slight concern but mostly, confusion.

Zephyr turned back to her father so quickly, that she almost got whip flash.

"I just wanted to be left alone! That's all." She stated as she tried to decend the staircase.

"It didn't look like you wanted to be alone..." Her father muttered as he placed his satchel down by the firepit.

Zephyr's patients were wearing thin and she was running out of responses to say to her very sarcastic and equally snippy father.

"What do you mean by that--"

"The boy, Zephyr! What was with you and that boy?" The chief asked, his teeth gritted slightly, but it could just be because of the cold weather, he's still recovering from.

"His name is Axel! He's just..." she faded off seeing the looked in her father's eyes. Confusion, exhaustion and frustration. Emotions you don't want to see Hiccup Haddock in.

"I know his name, Zephyr. If you wanted to be alone so badly, why were you with him? Why didn't you just come to me--"

"You?!" The Teenage girl exclaimed. Making her father step back a foot. Surprised by his daughter loud demeanor, that she normally doesn't use very often.

"I try to come to you, but I always get dismissed! Do you not remember me coming to you today? Or did you black that out or something? Like you do about anything that doesn't concern you or your precious pride that you care so much about! Why don't you just suck it, dad! I try to get your attention, but all you do is embarrass me in front of everyone, and now that someone came along and actually asked me if I'm okay and made me feel better, you're getting defensive on me? It's not my fault Axel has a better shoulder to cry on! I feel like you just try to pretend you are a caring and amazing parent, just so people will respect you more--"

"Zephyr!"

The two Haddock's turned there heads, and saw Astrid coming down from the stairs in her sleep wear. Her hair released from her iconic braid, and is left hanging off her shoulders and back.

"Go to your room." Astrid spoke, rather quietly. The heat rising to her face. Zephyr raised an eyebrow at her.

"I'm not 7 years old anymore, you can't tell me--"

"You still live in this house, do you?" Astrid asked again, with wide, agreesive eyes. No answer was required from Zephyr.

"So take yourself up stairs." She stated again. But Zephyr stood her ground.

"Now." It was a simple request but a deadly one.

Her father, she isn't scared of, her mother is a different story...

Zephyr huffed before scurring up the stairs when heavy footsteps. Astrid and Hiccup remained silence until she heard the slam of the teens bed room door. Hopefully not waking up her younger brother in the process.

The married couple made eye contact. Astrid could see the annoyance covering his face, which she knew all too well, that it was just a cover up of the real emotions he's feelings. Guilt, anger and sadness.

Without even noticing, Hiccup felt a pair of gentle and soft hands touch his, and she led him upstairs. Still slightly in a daze from the lecture he was just given by his 15 year old daughter.

"Do you know what's been up with Zephyr lately?" Hiccup asked as he finished changing into sleep wear, Astrid already in bed with the sheets covering her lap, but her head and back, resting on the head board.

"She's a teenager. This is how they are." Astrid simply responded, as she brushed her hair with her fingers.

The chief eyed his wife for a moment, and looked away. Thinking deeply of what to say next.

"Does she think I'm a bad dad?" Hiccup asked, as he sat down next to her, at his side of the bed, with a small creak.

Hiccup has never been the best with words. He was a good leader back in the day and he feels like he's a decent chief, but he's still working on his family. Understanding them. Mainly because his father was also very distant and almost disowned him at one point, and Hiccup never wanted to be that way to his kids. He knew his dad always had the best intentions, but he always had a hard time expressing his love and appreciation to his child.

Astrid looked up at him with a raised eyebrow. Her mouth opened for a second, but then closed with an audible snap. Should she tell her husband what Zephyr asked her earlier or should she let it slide?

"Of course she doesn't think that, babe." Astrid chuckled at first, then slowly turned into a frown. "She's just a curious 15 year old girl. Just like we used to be. Only much more worse and we got into much more trouble." Astrid smirked slightly, and scooted to the side of the bed and placed a hand on her husband's back. Stroking it slightly.

"I just..." He sighed slightly and bit his lips. "I just don't want to be my dad..." Hiccup muttered. He didn't know if he wanted her to hear it or not. She might get the wrong idea.

Astrid looked up and leaned her head down, so she can make eye contact with her husband.

"You're father was a great man--"

"It was isolating growing up!" Hiccup got up from his seat, and suddenly has the urge to pace the length of the room.

"I never felt right in my own village, that my father ran! I never met my mother until 20 years later, but the second we meet, my dad dies from saving my life! Then I was immediately thrown into the position of being chief, without any time to grieve my father and then, a year later, the dragons left us and I knew it was my decision, but I just feel like--"

"This isn't about Zephyr anymore, Is it?" Astrid asked. Noticing his rambling, started to become spiraling.

Hiccup stopped in his tracks and looked at his wife. She looked every bit as tired as he did. Except, he was both physically and mentally exhausted. Now emotionally exhausted.

"I- it's been 20 years, A-Astrid... 20 years.." Hiccup mumbled, as he felt his wife grabbed his hand gently. The hand that was threatening to run through his hair. A nervous tick he always had.

"I know... I know." Astrid muttered back. She stroked his bangs and lead him back towards the bed. She can see his eyes threatening with tears. She continued to stroke his hair, as his breathing became labored. She always assumed he was fine that the dragons left over 20 years ago, since it was his decision, but that's the thing about Hiccup... he's too kindhearted for his own good. He knew the dragons would be happier and healthier, but in what price if Hiccup was as miserable as he's been.

So that's why Hiccup has been stand off-ish recently...

It's coming up on 20 years...

She shushed her husband as she tucked his hair behind his ear. His head now laying on his wife's chest. Both layed down completely on the bed.

After, what felt like hours, Hiccup was asleep. Astrid half asleep as well but continued to stroke her husband's hair. The light from the blistering moon outside, lit up the bed spread.

As Astrid looked outside, its like she could see the certain nightfury passing by the moon. It reminds her of that first flight she took with Hiccup. The moment she realized that he was much more then a weak outcast who was nothing more then his name is. A "hiccup."

As the night grew darker and the day got later, Astrid took one last look at her Husband who is still fast asleep. Now noticing the small bags under his eyes and his shaky breathing visible under under the moon light shining though the window.

Astrid signed silently, as her eyes finally grew tired and fell into a slightly blissful sleep.
