The campsite is peaceful near a dead Octonozzle.
The sounds of a campfire is the only thing heard aside from footsteps, food crunching and bed shuffling, it's the only thing the agents needed for the night.
The one awake and sitting in a fetal position is a silver hippie tentacle haircut, Rei, after the events happened from yesterday to earlier today as well as a voice calling her stupid and weak.
Lowering her head, Rei couldn't tell if all this is real or just a bad dream, hoping for the latter to happen.
"Oh? You can't sleep?" 'Agent 3.7' asks as she arrives and she and Rei are without a high visibility vest.
Agent 3.7's hippie tentacle hair appears to have the same tentacle hair colour as Agent 3.2, Saki's pigtails as both of them are aqua blue.
Rei has no words while turning away from Agent 3.7.
"I understand. At least you and Saki made up." Said Agent 3.7.
"It's not that. I just don't know what to do." Rei admitted.
Agent 3.7 and Rei are watching the fire together.
It's quiet.
"Why are you and Saki together all the time?" Rei asks as she's curious to know about Agent 3.7.
Agent 3.7 then lowers her head.
"You see… I'm just a beginner like you. But unlike you, I'm nothing without Saki."
"For eel?" Rei raises an eyebrow in confusion.
"Yes. You could say that I'm Saki's older sister. Sixteen as the usual agents, including my sister, are fourteen. But you? Thirteen? Unlucky for someone who worked there." Before Agent 3.7 introduces herself, she hands Rei some takoyaki from the pot. "My name is Sayaka and I am Saki's big sister. We have lived as a wealthy, or rich, family since before I was born."
Sayaka takes a single bite of a takoyaki on a stick as she continues.
"As school students, Saki and I are honourable students as I take the role of a student council president and Saki is a girl that needed checkups every day."
"Why?" Rei asked.
"Because she was born ill. Saki has breathing problems as you witness her loss of ink. Her ink was a mixture of our parents which didn't become blue, but dark blue and green. It caused her to lose balance. Seven months ago, she was rejected from any form of battles that turf war is a part of."
"And how did she feel about it?" Rei asks.
Sayaka lowered her head as she answered, "She never took it too kindly. Saki had lashed out on her teachers, her classmates and the doctors after the results she had. I also declined going to Inkopolis because I don't want to go without her. I never wanted to be alone in the first place and that says a lot about her older sister. Saki feels like an older sister than I was…"
Rei pats Sayaka's head after Sayaka sinks her head down in guilt.
"Sayaka. Let's get out there and get more zapfishes. While you and Saki aren't allowed to go to turf war, maybe we can be a family with Callie and Marie being our moms."
In Sayaka's eyes: while Rei is frightened, she can still fight and never give up on going forward. It's like Rei is some sort of an angel.
"Oh! I forgot to tell you, I'm Rei." Rei introduced herself.
"Rei… You had Callie and Marie as your mothers?" Sayaka asked.
"Yep."
"And I heard you're the fastest inkling that can outrun and avoid anything that is quicker."
"That's what everybody says about me, but I guess so." Rei answers as she can tell why she managed to move a lot quicker than an average inkling.
Sayaka laughs as she's finally cheered up by Rei.
"Now I'm really jealous."
"Heh, tell me about it." Saki chuckles as it surprises Rei and Sayaka.
"Saki…" Rei gasps while Saki spins her empty stick and points at Rei with a grin.
"I may not know who you are, but we'll have to overthrow Zero and take down the octarian leader together, because the Great Zapfish actually belongs to Inkopolis!" Saki then flicks a stick to a campfire and crosses her legs.
"But how do we do that?" Rei asks.
"Simple. When we reach their ambush point, we'll have to evade 'em with these bad boys!" Saki tosses out a couple of umbrellas as they're called a Hero Brella.
"Ooh!~" Rei is impressed while testing to open this umbrella gun and play with it by opening and closing it.
"Oh? I see you came prepared, my little sister." Sayaka giggles.
"Hahaha! You don't underestimate the Captain himself! He may be coocoo in the head, but he's actually a competent veteran!" Saki laughs.
The trio laughs together and raises their Hero Brellas together with confidence.
"Together! We will defeat the octarian leader and take back the Great Zapfish once and for all!" Agent 3.2, Saki cheered.
"Yeah!" Agent 3 Rei and Agent 3.7 Sayaka shouts with excitement.
"Big sister Sayaka. Even if you're scared, I'll always be by your side." Saki smiles towards Sayaka as their sisterly relationship is unbreakable.
"Thank you, Saki." Sayaka giggles.
"And Rei. Let's do this together! We can show not just Zero and the octarians, but Inkopolis and the New Squidbeak Splatoon what we're made of!"
"Yeah! Let's do our best!" Rei agreed as Saki felt the same.
Bzzt!
"Coward"
Bzzt!
Rei then grunts as she's avoiding any negative attention, causing her to smile and laugh with her friends.
14015 May 31st
The journey continues, the uniforms and gears are back on, the colours change to green and the inkling girls are preparing their default weapons along with their Hero Brellas.
Agent 3, 3.2 and 3.7 are now starting to move forward while Agent 3 ignores Zero and moves forward.
"Almost there. The answer is nearby. Also, big mistake."
Later the trio are sneaking their way through and climbing up the ladders as well as painting the walls and sliding on them in their squid forms.
Afterwards, the trio has finally reached the light that has the breeze coming through.
"We made it. We can get out!" Agent 3.2 laughs.
Laughing, Agent 3.7 rushes her way out as she realises that she and her friends are leaving the underground to their next target.
"So what's the ambush about?" Agent 3 asked.
"It's a death zone for inklings…" Halting, Agent 3.2 had realised where they're at. "Oh no! Sayaka!"
"Eh?"
As Agent 3.7 sets foot at the light…
The light shines as it reveals what's right in front of her.
In front of her is a lot of red lasers as well as a horde of octarians and octolings with various forms of weapons including a large black clam with purple eyes that is the Rampaging Octowhirl.
Agent 3.7's eyes widened with shock and fright as she realised what she got herself into.
"FIRE!" The octoling girl yells.
Instantly opening a Hero Brella, Agent 3.7 has witnessed a sea of purple ink which makes it look like a flood through the dam, causing said brella to smash into pieces as it led to Agent 3.7 screaming in agonising pain.
"Sayaka!" Agent 3.2 yelled as she reached her arm as a heavily injured Agent 3.7 did the same.
"Saki! Please! Help me!"
Unfortunately, the Octowhirl spins as fast as it could while alerting the octarian armies to fire again until…
"Rei! Saki! I'm so-"
SPLAT!
In the end, Agent 3.7, Sayaka, has now become a puddle of purple ink, leading her squid soul to melt and vanish out of existence, right in front of Rei and Saki's eyes.
"SAYAKAAAAAAAAAAA!"
"Saki!" Agent 3 yanks Agent 3.2 behind the entrance as many purple ink are spreading everywhere.
Behind the door, Rei has witnessed another horrific event that ended another inkling's life, causing her to hold her head in fright.
"No… Not again! Dai… Sayaka…"
"Dai!? Daigo!?" Agent 3.2's eyes widened after hearing Daigo's name, leading her to scream and sob.
"Saki?" Agent 3 turns her head around after witnessing how Agent 3.2 reacted.
"DAIGO! SAYAKA! WHY!? Why them!? My childhood… It's gone!"
With Agent 3.2 becoming a sobbing mess, Agent 3 had witnessed how Agent 3.2 is related to Daigo as a childhood friend.
"Oh no… What have I done?" Agent 3 knew what's been going on recently, causing her to hug Agent 3.2.
"Rei?" Agent 3.2 stops as she can feel Agent 3's chest that beats like an adrenaline.
"I'm sorry… I'm sorry… I'm sorry…" Repeatedly apologising, Agent 3 realised what she claimed to have done was most likely unforgivable.
This leads to Agent 3.2 wailing as well as Agent 3 as their actions and their overconfidence have doomed them both.
Then Agent 3 turns on her speaker while sniffling.
"G- Gramps…"
[Oh? Agent 3! You're okay!] Cap'n Cuttlefish sounds cheerful which led Agent 3 to keep her cool despite hiccupping in uncontrollable fear.
"I- I wanted to go but… I don't wanna die!"
[Oh no… You're…] Cap'n Cuttlefish had finally heard how a juvenile child reacted to situations like this. [Don't worry! Agent 1, 2 and 3.4 are coming over to help you!]
"Th- Thank you!" Agent 3 is still trying to hold in her fears while turning off the speakers.
On the other side, a single octoling girl is followed by 2 Twintacle Octotroopers while preparing her Octo Blaster.
"Come on out, inklings. Don't think ya can escape us!" The octoling girl calls until…
SPLAT! An octoling is gone which leaves 2 octarians.
"Stay… back…" Agent 3 pants after her Hero Shot actually fires at the enemy which shows Rei's fear of being hunted down by the octarians.
With both Twintacle Octotroopers growl and roar, Agent 3 pulls the trigger again…
And again…
And again…
"Stay back! Stay back! Stay back Stay back Stay backstaybackstaybackSTAYBACKSTAYBACKSTAYBACK! STAY AWAY FROM US!" Agent 3 yells as she repeatedly fires at both octarians as they end up splatted into a puddle of green ink.
While hyperventilating, Agent 3 can taste something awful through her mouth.
Agent 3 then grunts while clenching her teeth and sees what's behind the exit.
"Come on, inklings! Ya already put my niece through grief! Now ya both shall suffer like we have suffered countless of murders!" The octoling woman called as she's waiting to fire her Octo Splatling along with the Octocommanders.
Agent 3 is trying to think which is rare for her to do so as she's checking to see what's their weakness and how she will get through.
"I'll kill them…" Agent 3.2 mutters.
"Eh?"
"Every single one of the octarians! I will kill them! I won't stop until they're all splatted!" Agent 3.2 shouted in rage.
To Agent 3's worry, Agent 3.2 is no longer positive as her anger got the best of her, leading to her revenge as her desire.
If only there's a special weapon to help them.
Then a speaker is turned on.
[You girls need any help?] A familiar voice of a boy called.
"3.4?" Agent 3.2 called in a very miserable tone.
[Yeah. You need to take down the Octowhirl.]
As the duo witnessed behind the exit, Agent 3.4 is splatting as many octarians as he can as well as fighting against the elite octoling woman and avoiding much purple ink.
"Inkling!" The octoling growled while charging her Octo Splatling.
"You think I would ever give up? Now it's your turn!" Agent 3.4 fire at both Octochoppers and step on a Octodiver by firing down and then slides Curling Bombs by spreading them out and then…
SPLAT! More octarians are becoming green ink as their foolproof ambush is no longer impassable.
"You! DIE!" The octoling roared while firing a lot of purple bullets which led Agent 3.4 to morph into a squid and swim to avoid her.
"Three! 3.2! Go! Hurry!" Agent 3.4 calls as he's facing an octoling and more octarian horde who're no longer in their positions.
As both Agent 3 and 3.2 stand up, they then toss Curling Bombs, morph into squids and swim towards the Octowhirl as the Octowhirl itself is intimidated by both inkling girls passing the octarians' hunting grounds.
Then the Octowhirl spins as it's circulating around the arena that appears to be a theatre in a circular room.
"Agent 3.2! It's heading this way!" Agent 3 called by firing her Hero Shot on the floor.
Agent 3.2 stays silent, throws away her Hero Brella and releases her Hero Dualies by firing the floor and spreading green ink all over.
Then as it catches onto green ink, it struggles to set itself free while releasing a tentacle that is similar to Octostomp.
"There it is!" Agent 3 gasps.
Hastily jumping onto the Octowhirl, Agent 3.2 fires her Hero Dualies non stop as she's starting to grin and giggle.
The Octowhirl groans as the tentacle pops, causing Agent 3.2 to shove her hand through and reach towards the zapfish and forcefully yanks it out, drop the Splat Bomb inside the Octowhirl, fire at it and finally rip out its tentacle apart like an wild animal.
And she was laughing like a mad woman.
"Hey, you don't like it, huh? You don't like it!? WELL TOO BAD! THIS IS WHAT YOU GET FOR MURDERING MY BIG SISTER! DIE DIE DIE! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
"Stop it… I don't like it!" Agent 3 can no longer see Agent 3.2 anymore as she's just a maniac inside of an inkling's skin.
Finally, BOOM!
The Octowhirl is no longer to be seen again after its pieces are pulled apart.
Green ink is spreading everywhere and standing with a moving zapfish is Agent 3.2 who was panting and dropping to her knees.
"Hey, Rei… I did it. Hahaha… I did-..." Abruptly, Agent 3.2 coughs as she's laughing while dropping more green ink out of her mouth.
"Saki…" Agent 3 slowly reaches her arm, witnessing what Agent 3.2 has done.
After Agent 3 catches Agent 3.2 and lets her go by letting her stand, Agent 3.2 sniffles as her laughter fades away.
"I'm scared… They're all right, I'm not cut out for turf wars. Daigo! Sayaka! I wanna go home… Mama! Papa!" Agent 3.2 sobs as she clings onto Agent 3.
As the speaker makes a sound, a familiar voice is calling as the quality is too poor for her to hear.
[-ee… -gent 3… Agent 3… Rei! Can you hear us!?]
"C- Callie?" Agent 3 gasps as she's finally pulling a smile.
[Yep! What's going on over there?] Agent 1 asked.
"Sayaka… She's gone… I'm with Saki at the… Movie place?" Agent 3 answered, comforting Agent 3.2 from all the misery she witnessed and the loss of her older sister.
Both voices gasp as they know what's happening outside their range.
[Stay where you are. We'll let gramps know and make sure to catch up and help you guys out.] Agent 2 called.
"Thank you, Marie." Agent 3 sighs with relief, realising that not only Agent 3.4 is here to save them, but Agent 1 and 2 as well.
As both agents are resting while embracing each other, Agent 3 can no longer see the positives in this world and realise that Zero is right about her.
"I'm a stupid squid… Saki, let's go."
"Yeah…" Agent 3.2 nods as she slowly picks herself up to her feet.
As both inkling girls stand in a green ink filled arena, Agent 3 and 3.2 nod together and carry each other towards the exit as a way to go outside for freedom.
Before they leave, purple ink is growing, leading both agents to gasp in horror.
Finally, Agent 3.2 pushes Agent 3 away from the purple zone as Agent 3 rolls away from the enemy ink.
"Saki!" Agent 3 exclaims while metallic spikes are coming out as they become a cage.
Agent 3.2 is now struggling to get out as a similar tentacle is slithering onto her legs and then binds her as Agent 3.2 grunts.
"This is my punishment… I'm just like Sayaka; I never wanted to be alone in the first place." Agent 3.2 says as she's finally realising what her ending is.
While firing her Hero Shot, Agent 3 is hastily attempting to set free Agent 3.2 out of desperation.
"Let her go! Saki!" Agent 3 yelled.
Agent 3.2 laughs and then weeps. "Rei… I'm sorry for not believing you…"
"Don't apologise! Just get out of here! Please!" Agent 3 is crying.
Agent 3 had witnessed both her fellow agent inklings being splatted alive in front of her.
Agent 3 can tell who's next.
As Agent 3.2 says her last words, she smiles as she wishes Agent 3 some luck. "Rei. Stop the octarian leader… Tell Callie and Marie that I-"
CHOMP! SPLAT!
From head to torso, leaving her lower arms and lower torso and legs out, Agent 3.2, Saki is now an octarian's meal, until she splats into purple and dark blue ink and spreads near Agent 3.
It even took the zapfish as a whole inside its mouth.
Gasping in fright as her eyes widened, Agent 3 has witnessed a metallic zapfish with long shark-like jaws that is covered in purple with its magenta eyes flashing right in front of Agent 3 herself.
Agent 3 has now encountered the Ravenous Octomaw.
[Rei!? Rei!? What's going on!?]
After Agent 1's voice call, Agent 3 hyperventilates as she's witnessing a gruesome splat and a horrifying octoweapon.
"NOOOOOOOOOOO!"
