Saphira was tense as Knockout held her while he walked towards the bridge where Megatron was waiting. She had no idea why he has requested her presence, she didn't really want to know why, but she hoped it wasn't for a reason like the autobot base. She certainly would not give that information up in a hurry. She was also worried that Airachnid might have said something to Megatron, in case it was the reason why he had asked for Saphira's presence. The girl was very worried as so many things could happen.
As they walk into the bridge, Saphira looked around as this was the first time she has seen it. The bridge was a long hallway with consoles on a slightly lower level on each side of a pathway that extended towards a large, glass window. She saw vehicons at the consoles, they were ignoring Knockout, Starscream and Airachnid as they focus on their task. Megatron was standing on a large platform, staring at some monitors and seemed to be deep in thought.
"Lord Megatron, I have brought Saphira, as requested," Airachnid said to him politely, bowing slightly as she spoke. "However, I come bearing interesting news. News Knockout will be more than happy to share with you."
Megatron glanced over his shoulder, seemingly confused by her words before he turned his body when he saw Saphira wearing an oxygen mask. He glared at Knockout with a growl. "What happened?!" He yelled, making everyone, except Airachnid, flinch at the fierceness of his voice. "I leave you alone with Saphira for at least an hour or two, and you bring her to me wearing an oxygen mask. You had better have a good explanation."
"Lord Megatron, I assure you that I had nothing to do with her sudden panic attack," Knockout responded as politely as possible. Megatron narrowed his optics slightly at him, not believing him. "Saphira only had the panic attack shortly after you had left the room. I believe telling her that the room she will stay in is being shared with you may have caused it. However, I am not sure. But my scan of her body indicated stress and panic, which would seem to be the reason for it."
Saphira glanced between Megatron and Knockout, she noticed the leader was no believing Knockout and the medic seemed to get nervous from Megatron's dark gaze. "He's telling the truth." Megatron blinked and looked at her in surprise. "I…I just…panicked. I am prone to these attacks, Megatron. It actually was good that he had an oxygen tank…or I would probably not be here right now."
Megatron processed her words while observing her body language. He was surprised she came to Knockout's defence. "What makes you so sure that I would believe you? I don't know what kind of words he told you to keep you quiet."
She looked at Megatron in surprise before sighing. "I don't, actually." He raised a curious eyebrow at her. "I am…uh…your prisoner. So why should you believe me?"
Megatron gaze remained on her for another minute before holding his hand out to Knockout. "Hand her to me. It seems the only one capable of even keeping an eye on her is myself, and soon Soundwave." The medic placed Saphira into Megatron's hand with the oxygen tank without hesitation. "Now go, I wish to speak with Saphira alone." Knockout bowed and turned to leave, though Starscream and Airachnid did not move. He glared at the two of them. "Did you not hear me? I said I want to speak to Saphira alone, now LEAVE!"
Saphira covered her ears, wincing slightly as the ache of her headache rose from the shrill intensity of Megatron's voice. Airachnid and Starscream flinch before they turn and leave, even the vehicons left as they knew better than to stick around and face Megatron's wrath. She stared at them leaving before gasping as Megatron turned around to stare out the window.
She felt a little awkward. She glanced at the window and back at Megatron several times until she simply looked at Megatron's face. He was deep in thought about something. She wondered if this is how he spent his days…thinking. That didn't sound very exciting to her.
She flinched when he stepped forward suddenly to the console in front of him and sat her down on it. "Will you do me a little favor, Saphira?" She blinked in surprise at Megatron's question. "Tell me the coordinates of the autobot base." Saphira tensed as the words left his mouth. "Simply because I just want to think about a perfect plan. You already know what I want to do, so you can help me."
"Uhh…umm…" She hesitated, rubbing her hands together nervously under Megatron's gaze. She didn't want to. "No…" Saphira looked away from him, fearing whatever punishment he might throw at her. "No, I won't tell you."
He began to chuckle softly, making her tense even further and feel more nervous. "I expected nothing less. No matter, I will figure it out. I had thought perhaps dropping by your home to give your parents a house call…" Saphira raised an eyebrow and glanced at him curiously, realizing he had no idea she was an orphan. "I have no doubt they are worried sick about you."
She stared back at Megatron for a moment and took a deep breath. "Normally, yes they would be. However, you…you…" She sighed and shook her head. "I'm an orphan, Megatron. My parents are both gone, one in heaven, the other in hell."
The commander widened his optics slightly in surprise before glaring at her. "You lie!"
She glared back at Megatron, tensing her jaw slightly, a reaction that clearly did not seem fake and Megatron's expression softened slightly. "I don't see how you would care, Megatron. My mother died when I was young with a disease that is incurable. My father…if you can call him my father…proceeded to marry some other woman who abused me for ten years, and my father joined in with her until the point my body was black and blue with bruises. They wanted my blood staining the ground." She turned with a huff and folded her arms. "I could care less what you think about my parents."
The con processed what she said, thinking about what more he could do next. "Who dealt with your father?"
She frowned and shrugged. "Optimus. He…I am not sure what he did. But…"
Megatron began to laugh suddenly, causing Saphira to flinch and stare at him in disbelief. She didn't know what was so funny. "Such irony! Optimus had preached to never harm humans! And once he finds you, all that changes!" He continued to laugh loudly, it seemed what he had heard was the funniest thing to him. "The things we do when we find potential sparkmates! It is hilarious!"
Saphira didn't bother saying anything further. It was clear that Megatron found something that amused him deeply. She let him laugh about it. She saw the irony of it, but she felt as though her father was a monster, not a human. And Optimus might have seen him that way too. So, he killed the monster, not a human. She doubted Megatron would really see the difference, so she would not bother explaining that to him. Still, she did wonder why he was curious about how her father had died. She shrugged it off, deciding it was just something that entered his mind.
Megatron soon finished laughing and intakes heavily, relaxing his body. "Now, on the real reason why I want to speak to you." She gulped nervously, making sure the mask was on properly in case she would feel panic again. "My decepticons believe I have brought you here to keep an eye on you, partially that is true, but I want you to witness everything that I do. So you realize that there is escape for you. We are stronger than the autobots in every way." Saphira frowned slightly at him. "While the autobots often show up and make life annoying for the decepticons, we are always a step ahead of them. We know their tactics well. Once they detect something unusual, they bridge to it."
Megatron has a point on that.
Saphira looked at him curiously. "O-Okay…but…why? That's a little unusual…I expected you to…uhh…make me do something. Like…steal some kind of artifact for you…" She blinked when she realized she was questioning him. "Scrap…I forgot you don't like being questioned."
Megatron chuckled softly. "Oh, there will be time for that. If Soundwave finds something of value, we will have you help us with it. There is no question about it."
Saphira still thought it was strange. She didn't really understand Megatron's line of thought. "Are you really Megatron?" She asked curiously, the leader widened his optics in surprise at her question. "Where's your cruelty? Where's your anger? Why aren't I locked in a cage for your amusement?"
"Don't tempt me, fleshling!" Megatron sneered at her, narrowing his optics at her. "You dare question me?! You are not a decepticon, you are just a human! Know your place!" He growled at her and placed his finger on the side of her head at the place of her injury. "You don't wish for this wound to fester any further, do you?"
Saphira shuddered slightly at Megatron's tone. He was still intimidating, even though she was trying to figure out why Megatron wanted her to witness his actions. She looked away from him. "You're right, I shouldn't step out of line."
He growled, staring at her silently. His mind told him that she was annoying, that she was just mocking him and making him want to kill her, but his spark seemed…confused. Megatron himself had not originally wanted her to see his actions. But he wanted her to now. He felt as though it was something to be proud of, to share with her. It was a strange feeling.
"I can't understand what Prime sees in you," Megatron said bluntly, looking at the monitor and began typing on the console. "You're just a pathetic human to me." Saphira looked at him curiously, she thought that he had relented from being angry at her suddenly. She shrugged it off, deciding not to tempt it. "Your autobots are growing more desperate. Despite them finding small energon deposits, there is less and less energon to go around."
Saphira was surprised, she was told the autobots had enough energon to last a whole year. "Oh…I was…told differently…" She shrugged a little. "They could simply be detecting your activity, not so much the energon."
Megatron huffed with a smirk. "Oh, I am quite certain. Even while I was in my unconscious state and my near incompetent, second in command had to deal with your autobots regarding this issue several times. That is what Soundwave has relayed to me."
Saphira did not really know what to say about that, so she said nothing about it. But, she still had a question. "I do…uhh…I do have one question…" He glanced at curiously, intrigued by what she wanted to ask. "Why did you save Starscream? I mean…from what I can understand, his loyalty has been questionable…for a long time."
Megatron stared at her as he processed her question, seemingly unsurprised by the question. He turned his head back to the monitor and kept typing on it. "Starscream once earned his post many years ago. And it went to his head about being my second in command, and the thirst for more power grew. I found his struggles against my wrath to become leader enjoyable. Watching him squirm and do my bidding was enjoyable for so many years. His usefulness is wearing thin. You will understand that I did not save him out of mercy, but I know that he will be useful for a short time more."
She listened to him and didn't understand. "Okay…so he's kind of like a dog on a leash for you…though I don't really get it." She shrugged a little, rubbing the back of her neck. "I have to admit, watching Starscream squirm and beg for mercy…it was kind of amusing…"
Megatron blinked and smirked slightly at her. He was intrigued by how they were both speaking to each other, and yet it didn't bother him as much as he thought it would. Even though in the back of his mind, he wanted her to stop talking. "I agree. I know you almost laughed at him. I felt it."
She lifted her hand to grab a strand of her hair to twirl in her finger shyly. "Yeah…well…you also missed when I threw a scraplet at him. It was quite funny…I wish I could do it again."
The commander chuckled softly as he listened to her. "If I had been there to witness it, I definitely would have had a cube in my hand to enjoy the show before me." Looked at the monitor as there was an alert and Saphira glanced at it briefly. "Ah…an energon deposit. One very deep into the earth…hmmm…" He looked at Saphira curiously. "There are many unminable deposits on this world. What would humans do if they could not reach precious stones by normal means?"
Saphira was surprised by the question. "Um…I have to think on that. Um…we would usually use specialized robots for that…" She rubbed her chin thoughtfully as she thought about it. "Umm…I am not someone who knows a lot about mining…sorry. Uhh…not really sure how that would help you. Our technology's primitive to yours."
"I was just curious…though most of your human mines are in places that are not so extreme." Megatron stepped back from the console for a moment as he gazed at the monitor. "Seems we hit a massive mine." He placed his fingers to his head to call for someone. "Starscream, I request your presence immediately!"
"Right away, master," Came the quick response from Starscream.
Saphira looked at the monitor curiously for a second before shrugging. She wasn't entirely concerned about seeing the mine being constructed. She was already thinking about maybe alerting Optimus, she saw the coordinates and maybe he could save her. But…she glanced at Megatron, side eyeing him thoughtfully as she had no doubt he might figure out she is partially bonded to Prime if she is not careful about it. However…the deposit could provide a lot of energon for the autobots…she did wonder if they had not told her about their stockpile so they did not frighten her. She preferred knowing the truth over being told what she wanted to know.
Starscream entered the bridge with a spring in his step. "Is the human causing you problems, master?" He sneered gleefully and glancing a devious smirk at Saphira.
"Far from it, Starscream. I have located a new energon deposit." Megatron turned to face Starscream who seemed surprised by his words. "It seems with the new modifications I had Knockout install into the ship's system recently is proving to be extremely useful. You will take a team with you to begin building the mine for extraction. Take Airachnid with you, and Saphira will be accompanying you as well."
Saphira and Starscream stare at Megatron in disbelief. "Pfft, ah, uh…what? Lord Megatron, she's Optimus's pet! We can't just allow her to see our operations! Why do you want the vermin to see the mine?"
"Because I want her to know the power of the decepticons," Megatron responded with a proud smirk. "So she knows there is no escape, no hope for her survival when we bring her and Prime together for the main event. That is why I want her to know."
The con stared at his master in disbelief as he heard the words filling his processor. "But…what if…w-w-w-what if she…"
"She has no means of reaching the autobots, Starscream. If she had, Knockout would have found it and removed it from her. She had no cell phone the humans use all the time." The decepticon leader turned to face Saphira who was staring into space in shock. "Saphira." She flinched and looked at him in surprise. "I trust you will not make trouble and try to run."
"I probably would fall before I could even run," Saphira responded with a frown. "I'm feeling a little dizzy…and the headache…" She clenched her eyes a little. "Never mind, I'll go with him…and do what he says."
Megatron huffed and rolled his optics for a moment before glancing at Starscream. "Take Saphira to the med bay and inform Knockout to give the painkiller he has made for her. We don't need her whining and complaining the whole time. I don't want you to come back all annoyed with her, otherwise I will be forced to deal with her punishment."
Starscream frowned, clenching his hands slightly as he walked towards Megatron and Saphira. Saphira was a little nervous as she didn't trust Starscream at all. She had no choice but to go with him as per Megatron's request. Starscream grumbled something that Saphira didn't understand, and Megatron didn't seem to care, though he watched Starscream closely. The con grabbed Saphira roughly, making her tense a little and he grabbed the tank as well. Saphira did feel she did not need it anymore, but she would keep it on for a little longer.
As Starscream walked away, Megatron spoke to him. "Oh, and one other thing Starscream. If I discover you doing something to cause distress in the human, or for her to be hurt because of you, I assure you that you will lose your wings. And you will remain grounded until I no longer have a use for you."
Starscream tenses fearfully as he heard the threat from Megatron. "U-Understood, master." Starscream relaxed only when he left the bridge and glared down at Saphira. She wasn't looking at him, she was tense and simply staring at the way for a moment. "I can't believe I'm stuck with the likes of you!" Saphira jumped when she heard his angry voice and glanced at him nervously. "I can't believe Megatron wants you see our operations, he is a fool! Ugh!" He shakes his head angrily as he stomps through the hallway. "You should count yourself lucky, vermin. Megatron is almost never this kind to a prisoner. This is the first time he has captured a human, but you are still lucky. If I were still in charge, none of this would be happening!"
Saphira believed him. Especially after what he did to kidnap Agent Fowler some months ago. And what he endured in Starscream's hands was less than pleasant from what he told everyone. Saphira kept her mouth shut, she was tempted to say something to Starscream…but she decided she didn't want to. She just went back go staring at the wall until Starscream reached the lab.
"Knockout!" The red con, who was working on some on the table, jumped and looked up to sew Starscream. "Megatron has requested that you give this vermin something for pain."
Knockout groaned and nodded. "Alright, take her to the med bay and I will be there in a moment." He began to put things away for the moment. Starscream glared at him, and the medic rolled his optics. "Just do it, Starscream! She will sit on the med berth just fine. She hasn't been stupid enough to try and jump off it without breaking a limb."
Starscream growls slightly. "Fine!" Starscream stomps away from the lab angrily. Saphira kept quiet, she was very nervous at the moment. "Knockout could had taken you, but he had to use an excuse! Grrr, I don't know why I am even babysitting you! Megatron is a fool!" Starscream huffed angrily as he walked to the med bay. When he entered the room, he roughly sat Saphira on the med berth, making her gasp in shock. "And now I have to waste more time waiting for Knockout…"
Starscream walked over to the wall to lean on with his arms folded. Saphira was a little tense at the moment as she wasn't sure what he would do. But, she took deep a deep breath and turned off the tank and took her mask off, fixing her hair a little as it was a bit messy. She wished she had a brush to brush out the knots that she could feel in it. Starscream noticed that she had taken her oxygen mask off, but he said nothing.
The door of the med bay opens and Breakdown entered instead of Knockout. "Ah, I see you have returned, Breakdown," Starscream said with a smirk as the con walked towards Saphira. "Was your mission successful?"
Breakdown nodded. "It was. Right now, I hear this human needs something for her headache." He narrowed his optic at Saphira briefly before looking at the new medicine Knockout had made. "Hmmm…I forgot what Knockout used to give to her." His hand waved over the different medicines thoughtfully.
"Breakdown, dear, you should know not to be misinformed when it comes to medical care," Knockout's voice filled the room as he entered. Breakdown turned with a smirk on his face and Knockout walked closer to give him a quick kiss and points to a large bottle with pale, red liquid. "That one, fill this syringe here…" Knockout hands the syringe to Breakdance. "Only two mil, I worked that it's most effective with a small amount."
Saphira watched the two interact, she sighed her mind went to Optimus. She missed his presence desperately. "Alright, so where do I stick this?" Breakdown's question made Saphira flinch and look at him with worry as he and Knockout approach.
"Arm out please," Knockout ordered Saphira with a smirk. She held out her hand and the con grabbed it, holding it to keep her flinching. He turned the light at the tip of his finger on and shines it at her arm before pointing. "Here, stick it here. Make it quick so she doesn't complain."
Saphira looked away as Breakdown smiled at her and moved the syringe to her arm. The needle was small for a con syringe, but the needle was bigger than the average medical syringes doctors use. She took a deep breath, hoping to not feel it. But she did. She tensed and whimpered, closing her eyes as the needle pushed in and the medicine was injected. Once removed, she felt a soft padding being placed on firmly. She was a bit surprised, and looked at her arm to see Knockout holding the pad firmly on her arm.
"Can we go now?" Starscream asked impatiently. "I have a mine to see to."
"Give it a couple minutes, Starscream," Knockout said calmly as he stood, scanning her body to see the progress of the painkiller and to know when the wound would stop bleeding. "Megatron wouldn't want Saphira to be bleeding all over the place. He will make you scrub it all off if that happened."
Starscream grimaced at the very thought of that. "Understood…" He turned his head when the med bay doors open again. "Ah, Soundwave. I hear from Breakdown that your mission was a success." The tall, dark, purple con nodded. "Excellent. What brings you here to the med bay?"
The visor on Soundwave's face brought up a recording line. "Go with Starscream to ensure that he oversees the mine properly, and to ensure that he does not cause any distress or harm to the girl." Saphira raised an eyebrow when she heard Megatron's voice.
Starscream growled a little before smiling at him. "I understand. Does that mean I don't have to carry the vermin around?" Soundwave did not respond, he simply turned his gaze away and watched Knockout. "Right…I am in charge of her…"
Saphira actually would prefer to have Soundwave watch her instead of Starscream. Sure, Soundeave was scary, but his loyalty to Megatron would mean he would not hurt her unless provoked or ordered to. She looked at her arm, wondering if the pressure was working. Her headache felt as though it was reducing, and that was a good thing.
Knockout lifts his hand, seemingly satisfied with his scans. "You may head off now. I still don't understand why Megatron wants Saphira to see the process of the mine being created."
"He wants Saphira to know hopelessness…I can think of better scenarios than this," Starscream said bluntly as he walked over to pick Saphira up. "I also do not understand why. Megatron will come to his senses, I can assure you."
Starscream grabbed the girl roughly again, making her tense in his grip. She said nothing as he turned to leave. "I hope that happens sooner than later. He's never done this to anyone before. But…I guess he really wants to bring the hurt to Optimus Prime," Breakdown said as he pondered the reasons why Megatron was treating Saphira this way. "I think the girl already knows it is hopeless, but I doubt she will ever stop thinking and hoping that the autobots will save her. They did manage to slip aboard once and use the cortical psychic patch before."
"And that was because the ship's cloaking technology needed repairs!" Starscream snapped, making Saphira cover her ears at his fierce tone. "It is fixed now, so we have nothing to worry about. Come Soundwave, we have a mine to dig out."
Saphira said nothing as Starscream left the med bay with Soundwave behind him. Saphira did listen to the conversation that had just been spoken of between the cons. She too was curious behind Megatron's motives. From what she was understanding, Megatron is never this kind of hostages. But she is a human, so perhaps he did not feel the need for it. She hoped that was the case, though she really was not a hundred percent sure.
Starscream gathered a dozen vehicons with drilling equipment and had them ground bridge to the location of the mine. The location was within a mountain with a smooth cliff overlooking a very wooded area. She glanced around as the air was nice and fresh compared to the ship. She flinched when Starscream sat her on a tall boulder.
She looked at him and he glared at her. "Don't even think about running. I will make sure Megatron knows what you do when we return. I am sure he will be delighted to hand out a punishment to you." He turned to begin barking orders at the vehicons. "What are you fools doing?! Drill faster!"
Saphira was a bit relieved and sat down, hanging her legs over the edge of the boulder as she relaxed. She watched Starscream and wondered if he should be telling her about the mine of not. She sighed and waved her hand a little, she was feeling a little dizzy and felt warm due to it. Soundwave was standing by her, watching her and the progress of the mine at the same time. He noticed she seemed to be uncomfortable before he extended a tentacle from his chest holding a two-litre water bottle out to her.
Saphira jumped upon seeing this and took the bottle. "Thank you…" She looked at Soundwave with a smile. "At least you do a good job of listening." She glanced at Starscream curiously for a moment before looking back at Soundwave. "Too bad he isn't as quiet as you."
Soundwave didn't react, however a laugh emoji showed on his visor and Saphira smirked a little, realizing that Soundwave was amused by her comment. She drank the water and looked at the mine progress. She did think about everything that has happened today. It has been rather strange. She was glad she got to speak to Optimus…but…as she thought about today, she actually began to realize something.
Megatron and I were speaking to each other almost comfortably…I didn't even notice! Unless it was just…something to do…I actually didn't feel…unsafe with Megatron…
Saphira decided that whatever conversation she and Megatron would have would simply be out of mutual respect, or just wanting to pass the time. She didn't want to believe it was because she was comfortable around him, or that they were somehow getting along. She groaned to herself a little as she thought about it.
Megatron isn't being nice because he wants to be. He's doing it so I don't cry or complain…that is all that he is doing…
