Chapter 17
"Please calm down Argus I told you she is perfectly safe." Dumbledore said trying to calm down the nervous caretaker next to him, who kept his eyes locked on the lake waiting for Krum to resurface with Hermione.
After what seemed like an eternity. Argus saw Krum resurface with Hermione. Dumbledore smiled and said "see Argus she is safe." Argus felt relief wash over him and a bit of jealousy when he saw Viktor pick Hermione up and spin her around.
Dumbledore looked at Argus and asked "would you like to go see for yourself." Without waiting for Argus to answer Dumbledore put his arm around Argus and led him down to the lake. "Well done Mr. Krum and you as well Miss Granger. Thank you professor they both said. Hermione then noticed Argus standing next to Dumbledore awkwardly. "Mr. Filch did you want to see me?" Asked Hermione trying not to smile. "Yes Miss Granger after this task is finished come to my office. "Yes sir." Said Hermione.
Hermione arrived at Filch's office after dinner that evening. "You wanted to see me Argus?" Hermione asked as she entered the room. He looked up from the paper he was reading, "Hermione!" Argus said getting up from his chair and walking over to her. "I just wanted to make sure you were really ok." Hermione smiled while shaking her head, "you saw me earlier Argus." she said hugging him. "I'm fine I promise." Argus returned the hug "I just wanted to make sure." He pulled away "you look tired my sweet." "So do you, Hermione said a bit concerned. Argus sighed "I'm not going to lie Hermione I'm exhausted." He said while walking back to his desk and sitting down.
Hermione walked around him so that she was behind him. She started to rub his shoulders, he always looked so tense to her. Argus bit back a groan as Hermione worked the tension from his shoulders. "Argus when was the last time you went on holiday?" Argus couldn't stop the chuckle, "I've never gone on holiday Hermione." "Dumbledore doesn't give you time off?" "He as offered, but even if I did I don't where I would go or do. Traveling isn't the easiest for squibs, There are a lot of places in the magical world you need well magic to access and I don't know enough about the muggle world to fit in.
"I'm probably going to end up at the Weasley's this summer. Why don't you ask them and Dumbledore if you could stay for the summer?" "I don't want to impose on anyone Hermione." She squeezed his shoulders "I'm sure it will be alright Argus." A few minutes later they heard a crashing sound and then peeves laughing. "Peeves" Argus said in both annoyance and exhaustion.
Argus groaned and put his head in his hands. Hermione removed her hands from his shoulders. "Argus are you alright?" "No" he said honestly, "but I have to go deal with him" he said. "Ok oh and Argus there's no need to be jealous. She kissed his cheek and then left leaving Argus to go deal with Peeves.
