I don't own Kingdom Hearts or Green Lantern. They belong to Disney, Square Enix, and DC comics. And without that long of a wait, here's the second chapter of Kingdom Hearts: Return of the Green Lantern Corps. We're getting closer and closer to the main plot, so let's reply to some reviews and then we can dive right into the chapter...

johnymike98: I fixed that error and mentioned you in a PM so it's all good. :) No Kion or Deadpool in this fanfic as I'm not a fan of the former and while as funny it would be, the latter is not getting a ring. I can confirm that. Hope you enjoy the next chapter though.

Monkey D. Conan: Glad you like the concept and are willing to give this story a chance. No, Green Lanterns won't be learning magic unless it was already part of their character, that make them too OP. In the comics and shows, we've seenLanterns hold their own against magic users so no one would be overshadowed. Hope you enjoy this chapter though.

edboy4926: Thank you!

Guest02957: Subtle nods to the OG story, can't say much about anything else though. Spoilers. Enjoy the chapter!

And with that out of the way, here's the next chapter!

Chapter 2: Mystery of the Ring

Not long after, Sora returned to his best friends with his newly acquired power ring, they decided to talk this over quickly before their parents wanted them home. More so Sora and Kairi, than Riku due to the fact his parents actually knew his job. So, since Kairi lived in the mayor's mansion, they decided to discuss it there in Kairi's room. Sora quickly recalled the events of wishing on a star, getting the ring, what he did, and then rejoined them back on the mainland where Sora concluded, "...and that's where I caught with you guys."

Riku and Kairi slowly blinked, processing the craziness of Sora's tale. After a full minute, the former took a deep breath before stating, "So, let's get the facts straight... after we left you... you wished upon a star?"

The spikey hair islander nodded, "Yep."

"But it wasn't really a star," Kairi picked up where Riku left off, "It was a flying ring and lantern... and they came..."

"WILL YOU JUST SIT DOWN?!" Riku quickly snapped cutting Kairi off, "YOU FREAKING ME OUT!"

Sora was currently sitting in midair, enjoying the flight capabilities of the ring he received. He blinked as if just realizing it, "Oop! Sorry!"

He then flew over to the bed beside Kairi and landed beside her. Kairi was too busy glaring at Riku for cutting her off to notice. He sheepishly smiled before the mayor's foster daughter turned to back to Sora, "As I was saying... the ring and lantern came to you... and the ring called you by name..."

"Yeah," Sora nodded again, "And it said... it said... umm... what was it..." He then pulled up the ring, "Hey, Ring. What did you say again?"

The power ring repeated what it said to Sora, "Sora Hikari of the Destiny Islands. You Have the Ability to Overcome Great Fear. Welcome to the Green Lantern Corps."

"So it really does speak back," Riku stared at the ring.

Sora nodded, "Yeah, but... it's kinda like Siri or Alexa... but smart."

Just then, Kairi's Alexa device spoke up, "Smart Watches are available on Amazon. Would you like to..."

"NO!" All three islanders glared at the device.

Kairi sighed, "It's best not to bring up her name in these kinds of discussions."

The Keyblade Wielder rubbed his chin, thinking back to what Sora's ring had said, "The Green Lantern Corps..."

The Mayor's daughter turned to Riku, "So... you heard of them..."

"No," Riku shook his head, "Masters Terra, Aqua, and Ventus never brought them up. Couldn't hurt to check next time I see them."

Kairi nodded before stating, "Then, you used it to change your clothes, fly around the islands and over the oceans, fought a shark, and made a fist, a boat, a baseball bat, a car, a giant hammer, and a copy of Riku's Keyblade."

Sora blushed at the moment he made a construct of Kairi in a bikini and avoided looking direct eye contact with her as made a construct of a paddle ball and started playing with it as he admitted, "Among other things..."

Kairi wondered why Sora acted this way, why he didn't discuss everything he made so far as he played with the paddle ball. Happened the first time she asked him about it too. Riku had a small suspicion but he kept it to himself, "And then you came to show us your new ring."

Sora, forgetting his embarrassing moment, turned to Riku with a nod. He then asked, "Do you still have the lantern?"

He then reached to his back and pulled out the power battery and handed it to him. Riku took it and examined it and gasped in shock, "Whoa!"

Both Sora and Kairi turned to their friend, as the latter asked, "What is it?"

"I have never seen light this construct into power before the only people I've seen I can compare to are..." Riku began looking at Kairi before shaking his head, "Nevermind, so what's it for?"

"Uh... the ring mentioned that I need to recharge it," Sora recalled what the ring told him.

"So..." Kairi realized, "Like a phone or portable gaming device."

"Seems that way," Sora nodded as his ring started to blink.

The Ring reported, "Warning. Ring at ten percent power."

Sora walked up to the lantern Riku was holding, "Guess, I should do it now." He walked over to the battery before Riku pulled it back, "Hold on, Sora. We don't know where these came from or if it's really good for you."

"Message of the previous wielder replaying now," The ring stated cutting Riku off as a construct of an adult in a uniform with a similar theme design to Sora's. The man smiled at Sora, "Hello. Name's Hal Jordan, founding member of the Justice League, and best looking Green Lantern of Sector 2814, at your service..."

Sora blinked in confusion as Riku was so shocked he dropped the power battery. Kairi also watched as the Green Lantern continued, "Or was at least. If my Hail Mary worked, then by the time this message ends it'll mean the end of my universe, but in the time the ring goes, it'll be quite some time since the universe tried to remake itself until the world you know today."

"No way..." Riku gasped in shock, "This is from... from before..."

"I don't have time to break out the exact details but in short a war brought upon the end of the world and the worlds are or in your case have been consumed by the darkness," Hal explained while frowning, "Which means all my friends are long gone and I will soon be joining them. Look, I don't know you but I do know this, my ring chose you to be my successor. The next Green Lantern. The last one. Which means unless something is done about it, your now in charge of protecting all the worlds from the same darkness that destroyed mine." He lightly smirked, "So, no pressure, new guy... or girl."

Kairi giggled at that, "You know, he kinda has Riku's humor."

Riku rolled his eyes as she continued to giggle, Hal continued, "Look, this won't be easy, which is why I'm sending this message to you. The Green Lantern Corps once protected the universe as a police force. And since you're the last one, it's up to you to rebuild the Corps from the ground up. Again, no pressure."

"Me?" Sora gasped in shock. First he was told he has to protect the universe from the same darkness that once swallowed the world in darkness. Now, he also being told he had to recreate a force of space cops. As cool as it was, it was a little overwhelming.

The image of Hal added, "Look, I know this is all overwhelming, but you have to find the Guardians of Oa. They made our Power Rings and countless others just like ours. If they survived they'll help you. Just get yourself, your ring, and your power battery to Oa if it still exists. First things first though, you need to recharge your ring to get to... well anywhere..."

"I can travel to other worlds?" Sora gasped in shock before repeating, "I CAN TRAVEL TO OTHER WORLDS!"

Riku face palmed himself, "Oh, boy..."

"Here's a little how-to and then you're on your own. Good luck," Hal smiled, "Frist, put your ring to your battery and repeat after me the oath..."

Sora quickly grabbed the power battery before Riku could react, "Hey!"

Sora placed the ring into the battery as Hal told him, "In brightest day, in blackest night..."

"In brightest day," Sora repeated as the power battery power light up, "In blackest night..."

"No evil shall escape my sight," Hal continued as Sora repeated just slightly behind him, "Let those who worship evil's might..."

Sora and Hal then finished the oath, "BEWARE MY POWER! GREEN LANTERN'S LIGHT!"

The ring absorbed the power from the battery until the image of the previous Green Lantern vanished and the ring stated, "Ring at 100% power."

Sora smiled at his ring as he muttered, "Fully charged."

"That's so cool, Sora," Kairi smiled, "Now you and Riku can protect the worlds together... maybe I can get one of those rings and join you."

Riku looked back and forth between his two friends, "I don't think that's such a great..."

"That's a great idea!" Sora happily beamed, "That way, no one will be left behind and we wouldn't be breaking any world order laws."

"That's not how it works," Riku muttered before shaking his head, "Look. There's still so much we don't know about this Green Lantern Corps or Guardians of Oa."

"What about your masters?" Kairi wondered, "Would they know?"

"Maybe," He shrugged, "But..."

Sora then ran out Kairi's outdoor balcony, "Maybe is good enough! Let's go ask them."

"Sora!" The Keyblader warned his oldest friend as he chased after him, "You don't know the way."

"Hey, Ring," Once outside, Sora turned to his power ring as he put away his Power Battery, "Can you get me to the Land of Depature?"

"One moment,". The ring blinked before stating, "Coordinates locked and set. Prepare for space travel."

With little warning, Sora was blasted off from the Kairi's balcony, and flew to the stars above, traveling faster than anyone has before. Riku ran outdoors as he called out, "Sora! Hold on!"

He then summoned his Keyblade armor with silver plating before tossing his Keyblade into the air as it transformed into a key themed flying motorbike. Hoping on it, he flew after the new Green Lantern. Kairi just walked out side and watched as he friends flew to the stars. She sighed to herself, "How come the boys get all the fun?"

Meanwhile, outside of Destiny Islands orbit, Sora was have the time off his life. He never flew this fast before. Even when trying out his ring for the first time. He then heard a familiar voice, "SORA! SLOW DOWN!"

Sora smiled competitively to his friend, "Race ya there!" He then turned to his ring, "Alright! Let's see how fast this thing can really go!"

He then increased his speed going, traveling at the speed of light and beyond it, leaving the Keyblade Wielder in the space dust. Riku shook his head, "He's going to be the death of me. I just know it."

He then blasted off into space after Sora...

Meanwhile, at the Land of Departure, Master Aqua, now wearing the cloak of her old master as she awaited the return of her friends. She was looking through all the books, of the knowledge of the Keyblade Masters of the past as Earqus passed it down to her and her friends. Just then a familiar voice spoke up, "Aqua!"

The blue hair woman blinked before turning to another Keyblade Master. The youngest among them. She smiled, "Ven."

She turned to him, "So... is Vanitas..."

He nodded, "Still contained... if he is involved... it's not on the other worlds. The Unversed hadn't broken out either."

"Good," Aqua sighed in relief, "The last thing we need is him on the battlefield. Especially, everything we went through to stop him and Xehanort."

Ven smiled in agreement before another voice spoke up, "Aqua. Ven."

Both Keyblade Masters blinked as they turned to another familiar face, they smiled at their best friend, "Terra."

He approached them, "I just got back from Radiant Guardian... well... Hollow Bastion."

Both Keyblade Master turned to concern, they felt awful for what happened to this world. Even with Xehanort gone, he still did quite some damages to the other worlds through a witch called, Maleficent.

She knew enough about the Keyblade, other worlds, and Princesses of Heart to be a real threat the worlds. She used creatures of darkness called Heartless to take over Kairi's homeworld, while Aqua was relieved that the little girl she had once saved got off safely. She had no memory of her life on that world and knew nothing about it other than a few memories of her grandmother. She asked, "How bad is it?"

"Maleficent definitely behind the Heartless invading the other worlds," Terra confirmed, "She's been gather villains from all over the other worlds. I recognized Hades and Hook among them and they've been stealing the Princesses of Heart. Snow White, Aurora, Cinderella..."

"Dang it!" Aqua cursed slamming a fist on the table.

"C'mon, Aqua," Ven turned to her, "That's not your fault. We always knew she was after the Princess and we've kept them safe before."

"But know the Heartless are stronger than ever," Terra added, "Rescuing them, may not be as easy as we thought."

"Not with that attitude," Ven smirked to the older brother he may or never had, "C'mon, the three of us, Riku, and Mickey. We can pull it off."

"Ven," Aqua sighed, "I appreciate what you're trying to do... but the five of us may not be enough this time."

"Okay, then why not give Sora and Kairi Keyblades?" Ven offered, "We could use the extra hands."

Aqua sighed before looking away, "You remember what happened 10 years ago. Our first time on our own on the other worlds... it nearly drove us apart. One Keyblade is enough for any friendship."

Ven frowned at that, as Terra approached her, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder, "I know how you feel Aqua... after all, I nearly became Xehanort's puppet and because of that... we lost Master Earqus. And not a day goes by when it doesn't come back to haunt me. Sora and Kairi though... they're not like us... Okay, Sora's kinda like Ven."

"Hey!" Ven took offense a little.

Terra smiled, "But you get what I'm saying. Besides, we need more Keyblade Wielders. It's what the Master would have wanted."

She sighed before noticing a green light coming down from the stars above, "What is that?"

Terra and Ven also noticed the green light before it knocked on the window, "Master Aqua! Master Terra! Master Ven!"

All three recognized the voice, all three Keyblade Masters gasped, "Sora?!"

The light cleared out revealing Sora, in his Green Lantern uniform, waving to them with a smile, "You'll never guess what happened!"

Suddenly, Riku pulled up next to him, "Yeah, we could really use your advice what's going on here?"

All three Masters blinked, as Aqua rubbed her forehead, "Just come inside and tell us what happened."

After explaining the past events to the Keyblade Masters, Aqua began searching through this world's expansive library for any traces for the history of this so called, "Green Lantern Corps."

According the the final message of Hal Jordan, it took place just at the grand conclusion of the Keyblade War. So, looking through the legends of the Keyblade War sounded like a good place to look.

Meanwhile, Terra tested the limits of Sora's power ring by sparing with him. Much to his shock, Sora was actually holding his own. He fired a large cannon at him which Sora used his ring to create a barrier to shield him from the blast. He grunted at the blast struck holding his ground the best he could.

The barrier began to crack as Sora grunted before moving out of the way just as it the barrier shattered. Terra charged at Sora Keyblade in hand, as the Green Lantern constructed his own Keyblade with his ring and blocked the attacks. Blocking strike after strike Sora was pushed back until the Keyblade Master delivered massive blow knocking him off his feet. Sora was able to regain his balance midair before making a construct of a giant hammer charging at him.

Terra charged at him too ready to prepare his next swing but Sora stuck first sending Terra flying to the other end of the room landing on his back. He groaned as he picked himself up as Sora quickly apologized, "Master! Sorry! I didn't hit ya too hard!"

"No, it's okay, Sora," He reassured Riku's best friend, rubbing the back of his head, "I've taken worse hits."

Sora then offered him help up which he accepted, he then added, "I gotta admit. You getting the hang of that ring of yours."

"Thanks," Sora smiled before turning to his ring, "It almost feels like a dream. If it is, I never want to wake up."

Terra chuckled as he shook his head, "You really did come from the same cloth as Ven."

Ven rolled his eyes, "Still, it's really cool ring you have. Maybe you can help us after all."

"Uh... Aren't we rushing things a little," Riku protested a little, "He only had that ring for nearly an hour at most. We don't know if this Hal guy was telling the truth."

"Found it," Aqua called out getting everyone's attention, she then approached them as she held a book underneath her arm, "It was located Fairy Tale myths."

She opened the book labeled Myths from the Age of Universe. She then read, "It says before the Keyblade, just when the universe was only beginning, the Guardians of Oa were among the first intelligent forms of life in the universe. Seeing how many less intelligent life forms were were often prone to chaos and violence, they decided a police force was necessary to keep order."

"These they called Green Lanterns, and their members were selected amongst the alien races for their intelligence, willpower and fearlessness." Aqua explained, she then looked to Sora, "Well, it lines up with the story Sora and this Hal Jordan told you."

Sora smiled at that until Riku muttered, "Although, Sora's not the brightest among our world."

Sora glared at Riku, "What's that supposed to mean?!"

He then asked, "What about Hal? Does it say anything about him?"

"As a matter of fact," Aqua pointed to his name, "According to this book, Hal was known as the greatest Green Lantern in the Universe."

Sora's and Ven's eyes widened in awe, "Wow!"

Riku's jaw dropped, "In the Universe?"

"Know for have the greatest of willpower, and saved countless worlds, including his own," Aqua read aloud, "A founding member of his world's Justice League. He even fought till the bitter end during the Keyblade War trying to save his universe." She closed the book, "I can only assume, he knew he couldn't stop the world from being dragged into darkness but he found a way to send his Power Ring and Battery to a time after the War where they found their way to you, Sora. To ensure of universe would still have a Green Lantern."

Sora turned once again to ring in amazement, Riku shook his head, "I thought it came from a book of myths."

"Many myths can be born if something that actually happened," Master Aqua explained, "Which would appear this myth is actually fact and his here and now on your friend's finger."

"Which is great," Ven beamed, "I did say we could use the extra numbers."

"Now hold on," Riku shook his head, "Sora just got the ring. We can't just send him off to war like he's been doing this for years."

"C'mon, I beat Master Terra, didn't I?" Sora smiled as he gestured to the Keyblade Master who passed down the Keyblade to him.

"I wasn't trying to kill you either," Terra pointed out, "Training grounds and battle grounds are completely different. If you fail in here, you can always get back up and try again. Out there, you lose, chances are you'll die. Riku's not wrong there."

Sora sighed, seeing his point, Terra turned to Aqua, "Aqua. Looks like you get the deciding vote."

Aqua gave it a moment of thought before stating, "Sora... I don't want to see you getting hurt out there on your own..." Sora looked down, before she finished, "This is why first thing tomorrow, you will be training to use your ring and skills to their full potential. We'll also try to find these Guardians of Oa and work with them find a way to gather more Green Lanterns."

Sora blinked in shock and smiled. Aqua sighed, "The return of the Green Lantern Corps work with Keyblade Masters could be the very thing we need to stop Maleficent."

She then turned to Riku, "Riku take Sora home and inform in of the current crisis. That way he'll know what's at stake. We'll meet you on the Islands for the next step tomorrow."

Riku sighed but bowed, "Yes, Master." He gestured to his best friend, "C'mon. Let's go home."

Sora smiled and nodded as he followed his friend out of the castle, before he added, "For the record, I beat you here."

As the watched teenage boys walk out, Terra turned to Aqua, "You sure that was the best idea? I know I encouraged the idea of passing a Keyblade to him and Kairi, but we still know little about his Green Lantern Ring. How do we even train him?"

"If the Guardians of Oa still live," The first Keyblade Master among their friend group, "We'll have a better understanding, if not, then we'll find another way. We have to think of any strategy to stop Maleficent and save the Princesses of Heart." As she watched the boys fly out to the worlds above, she whispered, "May your hearts be your guiding key."

Later on, Sora and Riku flew together back to the islands, the latter informed Sora, "Maleficent comes from the World called Enchanted Dominion. She an evil fairy that once worked with Master Xehanort to drag Master Terra darkness and turn his friends against each other."

"But it failed," Sora recalled, "They worked together to find the truth and stop them."

"Yes, but she knows enough to continue his plans for Kingdom Hearts," He informed, "She already has some of the Princesses of Heart."

"Princesses of Heart?" Sora blinked in confusion.

"Seven maidens with the purest of hearts," The islander Keyblade Wielder explained, "If she wants Kingdom Hearts, she's going to need all seven." After a moment of silence, "Listen... have you been... jealous whenever I showed off my Keyblade?"

"Huh?" The Green Lantern blinked again, "What brought this up?"

"Just answer the question," Riku told him.

Sora sighed as he admitted, "Look, when you first got the Keyblade... when we learned you'd be able to travel the other worlds... I was happy for you. I still am but every since you had that key, you show it off every chance you get."

"Okay, I haven't show it off every time, like the time..." Riku started before really thinking about it. Literally every moment they had since he had that key, he couldn't think of a time when he hadn't, "Huh... Wow! I never realized..."

"So, yeah," Sora nodded, "I was jealous. Still happy for you but I was. I figured you be happy too once I got the ring but... you seemed jealous the moment I got the ring."

"No, I was just concerned," Riku shook his head, "We had no idea where your ring came from so for all we knew it could have been a con from Maleficent or the ring could make you addicted like in the Lord of the Ring films..."

"I get it," Sora reassured him, "I do..."

"With what's at stake, I couldn't bare to lose you or Kairi," The Keyblade Wielder stated.

"How do you think Kairi and I felt when we learned what you were going to do for a living?" Sora turned to him, "We always had each other's backs on the islands, so let us help you."

Riku sighed, "Deal. If Kairi gets chosen by a weapon to defend the innocent, the we can all watch each other's backs..."

Sora smiled at that until he saw the islands just a head, "What?"

Both Keyblade Wielder and Green Lantern came to a sudden stop as they saw the state of the islands. Riku's and Sora's eyes widened in horror, "No..."

What both teenager boys saw, was darkness slowly consuming the Destiny Islands...

Well, at least Riku wasn't responsible this time. The Destiny Islands is failing into darkness. Can a Keyblade Wielder and Green Lantern be enough to stop it? Will Kairi lose her heart? Are the Guardians of Oa still alive? Find out in the next chapter!

On the bright side, Sora knows Hal's sacrifice and the oath. Aqua, Terra, and Ven are all Keyblade Masters. Sora and Riku patched things up and Vanitas is still behind bars... for now.

I hope you enjoyed the chapter. Be sure to leave a review. Also, be sure to leave a fav and follow if you haven't already. Well, until next time, may your heart be your guiding key and I'll see ya real soon! God bless!
