Day 24- Hey Brother: Anakin and Ahsoka

Anakin watched with nothing but amusement as Ahsoka hung her head upside down off his bed.

"Doesn't that hurt your lekku?" he asked, genuinely curious. It looked like it would.

Ahsoka shook her head. "Nope! I'm good!"

Anakin chuckled. "What are you doing then?"

"Thinking," she replied simply.

"About what?" Anakin responded slowly, looking back down at his datapad, wondering what was going on in her strange mind.

"Going on another mission!" Ahsoka said with a grin. "So many new places to go, and explore, and travel…"

"You do realize," he said slowly looking back up. "We'll be fighting…doing battle stuff?"

"Yeah," Ahsoka sighed. "But all the new places will still be exciting!"

Anakin shook his head and smiled. "Okay."

She was a bit strange, but he would do anything to protect her.

Ahsoka was scrambling to find her lightsabers again. Losing them in the middle of the battle was one of the worst things that could possibly happen.

"Ahsoka! Look out!"

Anakin's voice came from behind her, but she looked up to see a rather large piece of stone falling towards her.

She rolled to the side just in time, covering her face to protect it from the dust that came from the crashed debris.

"Snips!" Anakin was shouting at her again. "Are you okay?"

Ahsoka stood up and looked around. Anakin was running towards her.

"I'm good, Skyguy!" she replied with as much sass as her shaken mind would let her. "Don't you trust me?" She placed a hand on her hip.

"I do," Anakin said pointedly. "But, I also care about you, remember that?" He handed her the missing lightsabers.

She hung her head and took her sabers back. "I know you do. You just want me safe."

Anakin nodded. "Exactly. Now let's get back; the men can cover for only so long."

Ahsoka fell into step right behind him as he ran off.

He was a bit overbearing sometimes, but she would still follow him to the edge of the galaxy.

Watching Ahsoka walk away was devastating.

Even in his promise to do everything to prove her innocent and keep her safe, he could only help so much…

She was still losing everything…

"There's still a lot of roads to explore, Skyguy," Ahsoka said to break the silence as Anakin led her to the hangar for who knows what.

"Well, Snips," Anakin smiled. "The good news is, I'll take you to all of them. Because I care about you."

Ahsoka smiled. She had missed this.

The bond Ahsoka shared with Anakin had always been so strong. To have it feel so…dead…was heartbreaking.

She's heard -felt- his cry for help, but now it was too late.

Ahsoka closed her eyes and let the tears fall.

So this was the cost of doing anything for someone.
