So here is the next chapter, I also hope that ff net does not go away but I want to be prepared. Also, it is at the end of the episode where they give Skye the drug that Coulson finds out what he was given but after the fall of SHIELD found out everything else. I went back and checked to make sure. But on with the chapter and I hope you all enjoy it.

The weeks following were busy and I found myself slowly stressing more as the days went on. Trying to find the best way to take down Hydra once and for all, plus trying to have a life outside of all the superhero work, all while finding time for a relationship as well. It was late and my phone started to ring, with a sigh I looked to see that Nat was calling and answered her.

"Hi Nat, what are you doing?"

"Rebekah, you need to get to the hospital now."
"What is going on Nat?"

"Fury has been shot."

"I'm on my way." I got off the phone with her and sent Happy a message to come to get me while I got my things and headed out.

Once outside I saw Happy and told him to take me to the hospital.

"Are you alright?"

"I am but Fury is not." While he didn't really know Fury he knew who he was and we were quickly off.

Worrying the whole way there. Once we were stopped I quickly ran into the hospital asking where to find him and slowly being pointed to where to find him.

Walking in I saw Nat, Steve, and Maria.

"How is he?"

"Don't know" I stood by Nat and Steve and could tell she had just got here as well. As she was still asking questions.

I looked at Nat when they were talking about the weapon. We both knew who and what this was about. Then he started to crash. I watched as they tried to bring him back but then they called the time of death.

"Nat he can't be gone."

"I know sweeties." We waited for them to have Fury ready so we could see him, so I called dad.

"Where are you?"
"I'm fine dad. I'm at the hospital with Nat."

"Why, are you alright?"
"I am fine. Dad Fury is dead."

"Do you want me to come to get you?"

"No, I am alright. You're out of town with Pepper anyway. I need to help with things. After all, next to Fury, and Pierce I have the highest clearance level for S.H.I.E.L.D. I will call you when I have figured things out here."

"Alright, if you say so. Be safe and let me know if you need anything and I will be there. Do you understand?"
"I do, talk to you later. I love you, daddy."

"I love you too baby girl. I'm sorry about Fury. I know how close you were."
"Thank you, I will see you soon." I got off the phone with dad and then was told we could see Fury.

I stood by Nat for a while just looking at him before Steve told us we had to let him go. They walked out and Maria walked up to me.

"You remember our conversation right?"

"Is this what it is?"
"Yes, will you be alright?"

"Don't worry about me Maria, you know I can handle whatever they throw my way. I'm going to head over to S.H.I.E.L.D you take care of things here." I walked out and headed to S.H.I.E.L.D with Steve.

"Are you alright?"
"Don't know yet, I don't think it has all hit yet. Then again I have lost so many people in my life, maybe I'm growing numb to it all."
"There is no way that is happening because you have the biggest heart there is."

"Thanks, Steve."
Once we were there he got ready and then went to the meeting while I waited for him.

I sat outside in the hall and was looking at my phone going through some files. If what they said was right there was a good chance this was Bucky and if it was I might finally get the chance to help him get away from Hydra once and for all. Then also maybe get rid of Hydra as well.

After some time had passed he came out and I got up and went to him.

"What did he want?"

"To know why Fury came to me."

"That's all?"

"Later." We walked to the elevator and got in both looking out.

"Operations control."

"Confirmed." We waited until Rumlow and some others walked in.

"Cap, Stark."

"Rumlow" the doors finally shut and we started to go down. Steve slowly pushed me ever so slightly behind him. The elevator stopped and more guys got on before Steve and I were pushed to the middle. He grabbed my hand behind his back pulling me as close as he could without it looking suspicious.

Rumlow started talking to him and I knew something was up. Steve was looking around at the men and I was worried. We stopped again as more men got on.

The doors closed and we started to go down again.

"Before we get started, does anyone want to get out?" Then the fight broke out. He was grabbed by most of them while some came after me holding me back. While he fought them off I also started to take them down one by one. I looked up to see Rumlow coming at Steve.

"LOOKOUT," I yelled at him before they started to fight, and I was able to take down the last guy that had me. I got out of the way and Steve threw Rumlow before telling him it felt personal.

"Are you alright?" He asked as he looked me over to make sure.

"I'm fine but we need to get out of here." He started the elevator only for the door to open up to armed men. Cutting the cables with his shield we began to fall and he held on to me. The backup brakes kicked in and stopped us. He opened the door only to see more men running at us. He shut the doors and looked at me.

"What do we do now?" He looked at the window.

"Do you trust me?"
"Yes, but I don't think I will be alright jumping out of a window this high up."

"Hold on, you will be fine, I will make sure of it." He grabbed me and I wrapped my arms around him before we ran to the window and started to fall. He held me close and I held on as tightly as I could before we hit the ground landing on the shield he had me in his arms."
"Are you hurt?"
"Nothing serious. Let's go." We got up and he grabbed my hand and we ran to his bike. Getting on we headed out and a jet came up to us trying to stop us.

"Jump"

"WHAT?"
"Jump, NOW." I jumped just as he did and he took out the plane as I ran past the spikes before he landed by me.

"Let's go." We ran as far as we could before we stopped.

"I'm sorry, I need to catch my breath."

"It's fine we need to find somewhere to change."

"Come with me" Going the back ways I took him to the house and we both changed into outfits that would not draw attention.

"What did Fury tell you?"

" S.H.I.E.L.D was compromised and to trust no one."

"So he finally told you?"
"You knew? Is this what you were trying to figure out how to tell me?"

"Yes, but there is so much more. Who do you think told him? I found out after Loki and have been trying to figure out how to fix this since then. Hydra is hiding in S.H.I.E.L.D. Has been for a long time."

"Fury gave me a flash drive."
"Where is it?"

"The hospital."

"Let's get it." We left and headed back to the hospital.

Walking down the hall we stopped at a vending machine and Nat showed up being us. Steve pushed her into a room and I followed, shutting the door behind us. I listened to them talking and trying to figure it all out. Nat started to tell him about the Winter Soldier and then gave him the flash drive back.

"S.H.I.E.L.D is after Steve and I, but not you yet Nat. We need you to be on the inside letting us know what is going on."

"Rogers, you better keep her safe."

"I will."

"Nat if you need anything or find anything out call my phone you know the one."

"I do. Be safe, your dad will go crazy if anything happens to you."

"Don't I know it." We all went our separate ways and Steve looked at me.

"Are you sure you want to do this?"
"They are already after me. Besides, this is something I have to do. I need to see it through for all of the others."

"Let's go then."

We went to a mall and walked into a computer store. I started to tell him what would happen.

"How much time do we have?"

"About nine minutes before they would find us."
"You know what you are doing?"
"You forget I am a Stark after all." I got to work on it working as quickly as I was able to.

As I worked on it I told Steve some of what it was and what I was looking for and what we needed to find. A guy walked up to us.

"Can I help you with anything?"

"Oh, no. My fiance was just helping me with some honeymoon destinations." I told him hugging Steve.

"Right. We're getting married." I got back to work while he talked to the guy. Once the guy left Steve looked back at it.

"You said nine minutes."

"Relax." The location popped up and I looked to Steve.

"You know It?"

"I used to. Let's go." He grabbed the flash drive and we walked out. We saw agents and I got an idea.

"Put your arm around me and laugh at something I said."

"What"

"Do it" his arm went around me and we started to laugh as they walked past us.

We were on the escalator when I saw Rumlow, I turned to Steve.

"Kiss me"

"What?"

"Just kiss me. Don't have time." I pulled him into a kiss and we Kissed for a moment. I pulled away and we started to walk down the steps. My lips were now tingling and I could still fill his lips on mine.

"Are you still uncomfortable?"

"It's not exactly the word I would use." We left the mall and 'borrowed' a truck before driving off to the location we had found.

"I'm sorry for dragging you into all of this."

"Trust me, Steve, I was in it with or without you. I'm a threat to them, I always have been."

"What do you mean?"

"This is not my first time dealing with this."

"What would that mean?"

"I will tell you everything later. Let's move on to something else."

"What do you want to talk about? Your Fiance?"

"It worked didn't it?"

"You move quickly."

"It must be the Stark in me. Zero to one hundred quick. That's how my family works. You're not mad right?"

"I could never be mad at you."

"Even though there are things I have not told you yet."

"I know in time that you will tell me everything but I also know that things you have gone through have not always been easy and not all you can tell me right away. I could never be mad at you for things you can't control."

"Thank you for being so sweet and understanding."

"I have told you before Rebekah I am here for you no matter what. I'm not going to just leave you. I do love you, Rebekah, you have been there for me from the beginning. Now let me be here for you."

"I love you. Steve, you have seen how Hydra is in SHIELD. So now you know about that and things are kind of blowing up around us there is something else I need to tell you. But I also need you to listen and know that I did not keep it from you to hurt you in any way."

"What is going on Rebekah?"
"In the '40s as you know Hydra was trying to take over. You and the others took as many down as you were able to. But sadly they used SHIELD to hide and grow as well. They did use someone as a weapon though. They wanted to create their own version of a super soldier to be like their hitmen. They found someone that they could use. That is what they have been doing since the 40s."

"What do you mean?"

"The Winter Soldier that Nat was talking about is real. Nat knows better than most just how real but that is a conversation to have with her. I have been learning about him and the things they have had him do. Steve, you know him."

"What are you saying?"

"The Winter Soldier is Bucky."

"Rebekah, Bucky died. I watched him fall, I was there."

"I know Steve but Hydra found him and saved him. They turned him into a weapon. They had started even before you found him and you formed the Howling Commandos."

"Are you sure it is him?"

"Yes, Nat told me."

"How does she know?"

"A very long story that you can ask her once we are done with all of this. Are you upset I kept this from you for so long?" He was quiet for a while and I started to worry.

"Rebekah, I get why you did what you did. You wanted to keep everyone safe. I wish I would have known sooner to help you with all of this and to help him. I want to help him in any way I can. But like I told you something like this is not going to keep me from loving you. I'm not mad at you more like myself and the situation. Bucky needed me and I was not there."

"Steve, it is not your fault at all. You were not where you could help him. You didn't even know what had happened to him steve. You had no idea he was alive, how could it be your fault? You can't blame yourself for all of this. Now you know and we can work together to help him. I know it will not be easy but the things that he has done that are bad were the Winter Soldier and Hydra, not Bucky. Steve, I know that things are going to work out the best way they can."

"He was always there for me and I was not able to be there for him when he needed me. I was not the friend that he needed me to be. I was so worried about me and my wants that I didn't help him the way he needed me."

"Well now you can help him in the way that you were not able to before. Then hopefully someday soon you both can be the friends that you were before the war."

"I hope you are right about that."

"I am, I know we will be able to figure it out."

"Do you know what they have made him do?"

"I do."

"How bad?"

"They have been using him since at least the 50s. Then they will wipe any memories and basically freeze him when they don't need him. They like to use him to take out people. The car accident my grandparents were in was not just a normal accident."

"It was him."

"Yes, I know it was the winter soldier who did it though and not Bucky but my dad won't see it that way. So we will need to be careful about how we handle it with him. I just know how he is and I know how he will react. It will not be easy but I think that we will be able to figure it out and make it all work."

"Your willing to help Bucky even knowing what he has done and what your father will think."

"I believe anyone who wants a second chance should get one if they want to do good with that chance that they get."

"You truly are one of a kind, you know that right?"

"I have been told a time or two."

"I love you, Rebekah, I want you to remember that no matter what happens next."

"I love you Steve, and I know. You are one of the first people that just accepted everything about me right from the beginning. You never gave up on me."

"I will never give up on you, I am right here, as long as you will have me."

"How about forever?"

"I think I like the sound of that." I smiled as he lifted my hand and placed a kiss on it.

After a while, we pulled up to the gate.

"This is it?"

"The file came from these coordinates."

"So did I." He opened the gate for us and we walked in and started to look around.

"This is where you got your start?"

"It is"

"Is it different?"

"Some." He got a faraway look like he was remembering something and so I left him be as I tried to find anything.

"There is nothing here. It has to be someone throwing people off. What is it?" I asked once I looked at him. He started to walk and I went with him to the building.

"Army regulations forbid storing munitions within 500 yards of the barracks. This building is in the wrong place." He hit the lock with his Shield and opened the door. Making sure to help me down the stairs I saw a light switch and turned it on. As the lights came on I saw the S.H.I.E.L.D sign and desks.

"I've been here before."

"What?"

"Peggy brought me here when I was younger. I forgot all about it. This is where they started S.H.I.E.L.D. She had told me she needed to get something and asked if I wanted to see where she had first met you and grandpa. Where S.H.I.E.L.D was born."

"How old were you?"

"Five or six." We walked into another room where the pictures were hanging on the wall.

"I remember looking at these pictures for a while. I had never seen a picture of him that young before this. I remember telling Peggy that he was handsome and then telling her that she was so beautiful. The way she smiled at me and then told me that he would have loved me thinking he was handsome but that he would get a big head about it."

"You were very close with her."

"My whole life, which mom and dad were happy about. They wanted me to have a strong female role model besides mom, especially for when I was a teenager."

"Smart."

"Absolutely." We started to walk and he stopped to look at a shelf.

"If you are already working in a secret office," He pulled the shelf over "why do you need to hide the elevator?"

"They like their secrets," I said as we walked over. I scanned for the code before typing it in and we got in and started to go down.

"No jumping out this time right?"

"We can hope." Once we were down the doors opened to a dark room and we started to walk and the elevator closed behind us.

"I don't like this," I told him as we walked farther in. Then the lights turned on and we were in a large room with old computers and technology. Walking onto a platform I saw a new-looking hard drive and plugged the flash drive in. the Computer came to life asking us to initiate systems. I typed in yes and stepped back. Then a face showed up on the screen.

"Rogers, Steven, born 1918. Stark, Rebekah born 1991."

"Do you think it's a recording?"

"I am not a recording fraeulein. I may not be the man I was when the Captain took me, prisoner, in 1945. But I am."

"You know this thing?"

"Arnim Zola was a German scientist who worked for the Red Skull. He's been dead for years." The computer started to talk again telling Steve everything about how this came to be and then mentioned Hydra in S.H.I.E.L.D. Steve wanted proof and he brought it up.

"Hydra was founded on the belief that humanity could not be trusted with its own freedom. What we did not realize was that if you try to take that freedom they resist. The war taught us much. Humanity needed to surrender its freedom willingly. After the war, S.H.I.E.L.D. was founded, and I was recruited. The new HYDRA grew. A beautiful parasite inside S.H.I.E.L.D. For 70 years HYDRA had been secretly feeding crisis, breeding war, and when history did not cooperate, history was changed."

"But they were a step ahead of you."

"Accidents will happen, HYDRA created a world so chaotic that humanity is finally ready to sacrifice its freedom to gain its security. Once a purification process is complete, HYDRA's new world order will arise. We won, Captain. Your death amounts to the same as your life. A zero-sum." Steve hits the computer and then the face shows up on another screen before continuing and us figuring out that it was all a trap.

I grab the flash drive and run to Steve before he pulls me into the hole on the floor and protects us from things falling with his shield.

"STEVE" I call out to him as things fall around us and it is all destroyed.

Then it gets really dark before my eyes slip closed.
