I'll preface this with: I'm sorry! This is the opening to a story I started a year ago and never finished. Maybe someday.

Elliot gasps as the trigger is released. His eyes closing to see death waiting, knowing his inevitable fate. Too close to move. Too far away for cover. Too stubborn to wait for back up. The faces of those he loves flashes through his mind: his mother, his kids, his grandkids, his friends, Noah, and Olivia. A lifetime of memories, a lifetime still too short to spend with those he loves. He closes his eyes tighter as the sound of buzzing comes closer and closer to his ears. One last thought before it all goes black:

"I love you all."

"Elliot!"
