Chapter 41
A squad of stormtroopers were walking through the streets of Carida City in perfect formation. Discipline was a show of strength, after all, and the Empire was determined to show that it possessed the greatest strength in the galaxy. Unfortunately for them, today would not be a good day for their show of strength. As they marched, a small, metal ball discreetly rolled into the center of their formation without any of them noticing. After a quiet, beeping countdown, the ball exploded, sending almost all of them flying and killing the nearest ones instantly. Shortly after, the remaining stormtroopers were forced to seek cover as blaster fire began to rain down on them from several snipers on the nearby rooftops. Having never had such a display on Carida, the troops were unprepared, and were quickly wiped out. The snipers cheered for their victory, and their wrist comms sounded out, "All right, good job! Now, everyone move towards the Imperial Vehicle Lockup!" With a nod to each other, they all ran to the edge of their buildings and jumped off. They fell for a moment before rusty jump packs on their backs caught them, and they were lifted up to the next rooftop. They continued this process, occasionally shooting down small groups of unsuspecting stormtroopers, and continued progressing slowly towards the Vehicle Lockup. Every so often, they would make a short stop to grab the stormtroopers' military grade blasters and explosives, wanting to be well armed when they arrived.
As the rest of the Carida resistance forces began to assault the front gate, Obi-Wan, Leia, and the resistance leader Ollis already had their backs pressed against the back wall. Ollis surveyed around before giving Obi-Wan and Leia a short nod, and they both ignited their lightsabers. Working together to cut a circle in the wall, the two of them had soon finished, and Obi-Wan used the Force to pull the circle of stone out of the wall and gently set it on the ground. They all quickly and quietly moved through the hole in the wall. Obi-Wan pointed to a nearby Lambda-class shuttle, and Ollis and Leia began to creep silently towards it while Obi-Wan went in the other direction. Finding an unsuspecting stormtrooper, Obi-Wan moved up behind him and swept his fingers through the air, using the Force to implant a message in his mind, before he also began to move towards the shuttle. Meanwhile, the stormtrooper that Obi-Wan had mind-tricked ran as fast as he could towards the control room. When he got there, he swiped his badge to get in. As soon as the doors opened, he ran in and yelled at the ship monitors, "Hurry! Release that shuttle!" Confused, the head technician turned to him and asked, "What? Why?" The stormtrooper marched forward and said, "We just received word that we're getting a surprise visit from Emperor Vader, and he needs to land there! We need to get that shuttle out of his way, now! Do you want to explain to him why he couldn't land?" At this, the technicians paled and immediately set to work on their consoles, detaching the clamps holding the shuttle in place. "Lambda shuttle, you are cleared for takeoff. Take off now!" the head technician yelled into the intercom.
In the pilot's seat of the shuttle, Oliss gave a mock salute and began to lift off as he said, "Yes, sir." He brought the ship up and set its autopilot to take them to the Valor, the orbiting control station. They flew right up and into the hangar without any trouble from the Empire, given that the Empire thought that the shuttle was under their control. As the shuttle touched down, an inspection crew of two stormtroopers came over to it. As the ramp opened, however, Oliss shot both stormtroopers at the same time, using his preferred weapons choice of duel blaster pistols. At the unexpected sound of blaster fire, the other stormtroopers jumped and prepared for battle, aiming their guns towards the intruder, but to their surprise, their shots were quickly sent back at them by two more intruders, Jedi intruders. At this sight, most of the stormtroopers continued to fire at the Jedi without much luck, but the commander of their group broke away from the fight and contacted the command deck. "Contact Imperial Command," the commander said. "Tell them we have a situation, two Jedi at Carida."

Back at Imperial Command, Luke was in a meeting, doing his job of intimidating the Imperial officers into doing what Vader wanted them to, when suddenly they got a call. Grand Moff Krennic reached forward and pushed the button to accept the message, and it immediately said, "Emergency message from Carida! Two Jedi spotted!" His interest piqued, Luke asked, "Do we know which Jedi?"

"Obi-Wan Kenobi!" yelled an ISB Agent as she charged towards Obi-Wan with her pistol drawn. Before she could reach the Jedi Master, however, Leia thrust out a hand and the agent was sent flying into the wall, where she fell unconscious. "And Leia Kenobi!" Leia yelled, enjoying herself. Attacking the Valor was proving to be extremely fun. The Imperials were in a panic and were too busy dealing with an invasion of their base to have even heard about another invasion happening on the ground, which was going just as well. Their ground forces had commandeered most of the Empire's heavy weaponry and vehicles, everything ranging from TIE Fighters to AT-DP's. Supposedly, they had even begun to attack Imperial bases in other cities as more civilians had joined the cause when they saw the Empire on the losing side for once.
Four more stormtroopers ran out and began to fire at Leia, and she dodged or deflected every shot as she ran forward to meet them in battle. Seeing her getting closer, the stormtroopers finally lost their nerve all at once and tried to run away from her, but ended up knocking their helmets together in the moment of panic. This made it easier for Leia to attack them, and she did a double front flip over another stormtrooper's blaster bolt before landing and pushing all four stormtroopers with the Force. Meanwhile, Obi-Wan slashed his way through every stormtrooper that got in his way, including the one that had just fired at Leia. For fighting stormtroopers, he had switched back to using Form III, as Form VIII was designed specifically for fighting Dark Side users. Finally, Oliss came back and shook an empty bag, having just returned from the engine room. "I'm done! Let's go!" he yelled, and Obi-Wan and Leia began to slowly back up to the ship. On the way there, however, a stormtrooper snuck up behind them and grabbed Leia's arm, shoving a blaster in her face. Seeing her predicament, Obi-Wan threw his lightsaber towards her. Leia, seeing the saber coming straight for her head, leaned back as the lightsaber flew over her and stabbed into the stormtrooper before it flew back to Obi-Wan. With a nod in Obi-Wan's direction, Leia continued to back onto the ship.
Once they had all boarded, Oliss turned the ship around before gunning the engines. Meanwhile, Obi-Wan tossed Leia a small device with a button on top, and she pressed it without hesitation. Hearing a loud explosion, she looked out the rear view window to see the Valor station catching fire from the inside. It had lost power and was beginning to come crashing down towards Carida. The ISD's over the planet, usually on an automated patrol, were now flying blind and uncontrolled, and Leia watched as even more explosions went off when the Star Destroyers all began to crash into each other. Thinking inside that there were no prettier fireworks than exploding Imperial property, Leia smiled happily as she settled down for a nap on her birthday as they flew back to a now-freed Carida. Today's events had been the best present ever. As she fell asleep, her last conscious thought was remembering Obi-Wan's words from their arrival with amusement. Nothing too dramatic.
