Out and About

Mary had woke up Friday morning, and went to check on her father. But she met her Vater in the living room. Klink had told Mary that her father was still asleep, and would be for the rest of the day, or so. At first Mary had gotten worried, but the older Colonel had told her; that Hogan was in more pain than what he had let on, and that he needed to sleep as much as he could. Mary understood and went about her day. She had fixed breakfast for her love, and her Vater; as well as for herself. She had wished that Hochstetter had stayed the night, but he had left soon after her father had went back to sleep. Mary had frowned to herself; when she remembered that her Uncle had told her; that he would call later on to check on her father, but the call never came. That Friday had went on like normal. The POW's and the guard's were still planning Mary's birthday, and were still making her gifts. Kinch had finished Regina's car, and both her and Hilda had left the camp. Mary had noticed that through out that day; Kinch was down over Regina leaving. Klink had also noticed this, and when the Sergeant had came to tell him how the POWs were doing. Klink had told the younger man that Regina would be coming to work for him along side her daughter for now on. This had brought a large smile to the young Sergeant's face. After that Kinch went back to Barracks 2; with a large smile still on his face.

Threw out the day; Mary would check on her father off and on. She would smile to herself, but then would frown when she saw that he was still asleep. Newkirk had told her that Hogan would be alright; that he just needed to rest, and sleep off the pain medicine. Mary had understood why her father needed to sleep, and had remembered back; to when her love had taken the pain medicine. Newkirk would sleep for hours at a time, or even days; after Kreizler had given him the pain medicine. Mary had cooked dinner for everyone in the small family home. Then when the food truck for the churches had drove threw the camps gates around ten o'clock that night. Mary had told her Vater that she would start cooking in the morning. The older man had nodded his head, and wished his little girl a good night. Mary had went to bed after her talk with her Vater. She laid in her loves arms, and listened to his heartbeat. She went to sleep within seconds. Klink on the other hand; had went to bed, and hugged up his young love; who was still asleep. He knew that he would have to talk to his love about his actions the other day; if Mary didn't get to him first.

The next morning Mary and Newkirk had gotten up early, and had started to cook all the food; to send out to those in need. Mary had asked her nonblood brother's to help her cook the food. By noon many of the POW's had came to help Mary cook the food; while Klink had called the churches. While some of the POW's were helping Mary cook; the rest of the POW's were still making Mary's birthday gifts. When the food was very close to being done; it was Newkirk who had went to tell Klink to call the churches, and for them to come and get the food. It was late in the evening when the trucks had pulled into the camp to get the food. The Reverend Mother; as well as a few other Nuns came out to the camp to see what food had been made. General Burkhalter had came out as well; to see what all Mary had made for the people of Germany. All that stood at the trucks; were shocked at what all Mary, and the others had cooked.

There was 140 pots of soups, and stews which were made up of; Beef Stew, Cheesy Potato Soup, Chicken Noodle Soup, Creamy Chicken Soup, Tomato Stew, Vegetable Soup, and Irish Stew. Then there was 1,200 different types of breads. There was biscuits, buttermilk bread, Sweet bread, French breads, Potato, Blueberry, Apple, and Mix Berry breads. The next thing to go into the truck was the 330 supper pie's; which was made up of; Shepherd, Chicken, Goose, Steak, and Meat pie's. The second to last type of food; that was to go in next was all of the sweets. That took up all of the whole back of one truck. The Reverend Mother watched as the 95,700 sweets were carried out, and placed in the back of the truck. There was Apple pie's, Lemon pie's, Cherry pie's, Blueberry Angel pie's, Chocolate pie's, Lime pie's, Coconut and cream pie's; then the last of the pie's were the Chocolate and Raspberry pie's, and the Strawberry pie's. The next group of sweets to come out were the cookies. Chocolate chip, Sugar, Ginger Snap, French Macarons, Butter Cookies, Cinnamon, and Thumbprint cookies. The Nuns looked at each other as the POW's started to bring out the candies next. Chocolate Truffles, Hard Candy, Potato Candy, and Candy Apples. They all looked over toward Klink with widen eyes; when he told them that they were almost done; that the cakes were next. The women, and the General looked over to see the cakes being brought out. Chocolate Victoria Sponges, German Chocolate cakes, Lemon, Black Forest, Apple, Blueberry, Almond, Star Fruit Cakes, Plum Cakes, and a Prinzregententorte cake. The last of the food that was to come out; was the 80 pots of mashed up fruits and vegetables. The Reverend Mother had asked Mary why she was giving them this. Mary made all there smile; when she said that it was baby food for the mother's that couldn't get food for their children. Klink, Burkhalter and Newkirk had smiled at hearing this. The story that the General had told Mary awhile back; had really stuck with her, and she wanted to help everyone in Germany. The Reverend Mother had thanked Mary, and she and the other's had left the camp; to send out the food to those that needed it the most. After the truck had left; Mary and Newkirk went back to the house. Everyone in the camp slept good that night. Mary was truly happy to know that there were so many people that would also sleep well; after finally being able to eat something.

The next morning was Sunday, and Mary had gotten up somewhat early. She was excited for her and her love to go out in the town together. She had quickly walked over to her closet, and opened the door. She looked over the outfits that she had. She smiled wide to herself when she pulled out the outfit that she was going to wear that day. Going into the bathroom; Mary took off her nightgown, and put on the dress that she was going to wear out to town with her Huntsman. The plain skirt of the dress was a charmeuse satin; that was a light teal green color. The top of the skirt came up to her lower stomach, and made a shape of a 'V'. The top of the dress had a darker teal green fabric underneath; with a light silver tight embroidery on top. Mary smiled wide as she walked out of the bathroom, and over to her jewelry. She looked threw the earrings, and rings that Hochstetter had bought her. With another large smile; Mary picked up the teardrop diamond dangle earrings, and a silver 'V' shaped arrow midi knuckle ring. She walked over to the mirror, and put on the earrings. After the earrings were on; she slipped the ring onto her right middle finger. While looking at herself in the mirror; Mary then noticed that she needed something else. Smiling to herself again; Mary took the piece of hair near her face, and started to braid it; like she had done before. She took some of the tight embroidered silver fabric, and braided it into her hair as well.

"Dear God, you look beautiful." Mary turned when she heard her loves rough voice. Mary smiled at his words; then turned to walk over to the bed. Newkirk sat up some in the bed, and looked his love up and down.

"Thank you my handsome Huntsman… Now you better get up and get dressed; I don't want to be late for church." At first Newkirk didn't know what his love was talking about; until he remember that it was indeed Sunday, and he was going out on the town with her. With a large smile; Newkirk quickly got up, and ran to the bathroom. Mary laughed lightly as she watched her love run to get ready. While her love was now in the bathroom; Mary got up, and walked out into the living room. She smiled at the older man that she called Vater. Klink was in the living room, and was fixing his uniform jacket; when he heard the young woman walk out. He smiled to himself; when he heard her say.

"Guten Morgen Vater." Said Mary in a happy voice. Klink looked over and saw the dress that his nonblood daughter had on.

"Guten Morgen Tochter. My word, you look beautiful today." Mary smiled at him; then listened as he added.

"And here is the money for you to buy anything you want today." Mary smiled at the older man; as he gave her the money. She was going to tell him not to give her so much, but she knew that he would either tell her to take it, or he would give it to Newkirk. Mary took the money, and placed it in a small pocket that was in the skirt. She then looked up at him and asked.

"Is Papa awake?" Klink nodded his head; then watched as Mary made her way to the bedroom. Mary walked into the bedroom, and saw her father sitting up in bed. Hogan smiled at his little girl.

"Morning Snow… Wow you look great." He said to her.

"Morning Papa, and thank you.. How do you feel?" She asked him with a loving smile.

"I hurt a little, but I will be fine. Will gave me a pain shot; so I will be able to get up and move around a little; can't pick anything up, but I can move around some." He told her; then watched the smile on her lips fall.

"Oh no, you will be in bed… all… day… long.. If you can run around outside of this camp for hours at a time.. two days ago; then you can stay in bed for that long." Mary told him in a strong voice. Hogan's eyes widen at hearing his daughter rase her voice at him. Hogan then raised a brow.

"Two days ago?" He asked. Mary nodded her head.

"Yes, you have been asleep for two days." She told him with a large smile on her face. Hogan looked to the side; he didn't know that he had slept for two days straight. He then looked over toward his angry little girl, and spoke again.

"But I had to…" He began, but didn't get to finish; as Mary cut in.

"Had to what?.. Wait many hours to call us, and to tell us that you were okay?! Do you know what went threw our heads while waiting for you to call us? DO YOU!" Outside of the room; Klink and Newkirk who had walked out into the living room; now looked at each other with widen eyes. Both men looked over when they heard the front door open, and saw Kinch standing at the door. He had came to tell Mary and Newkirk that the two guards; Habicht and Bischof were ready to go into town. Kinch saw the two men's eyes widen. The Sergeant went to ask what was wrong when he heard Hogan speak from inside of the bedroom.

"I ran into trouble and Hochstetter got me out of it; then we went to eat, and we started talking… and well… I lost track of time okay." Mary raised both of her brows, and placed her hands on her hips.

"Ye lost track of time?.. That's what ye are goin with there laddie!" All the men outside, and inside of the room raised a brow; when Mary started to speak in a Scottish accent.

"When the bloody hell did she turn into a Scot?" Newkirk asked the two men in the room with him. Both Klink and Kinch shrugged their shoulders. All three looked over toward the bedroom; when Hogan spoke again. Inside the bedroom; Hogan looked at his daughter with still a raised brow.

"What the hell was that?" He asked; then asked again. "When did you turn Scottish?" Mary narrowed her brows, and eyes; as she tighten her jaw. Hogan pushed his head back; when he saw the anger in his little girl's eyes.

"We are not talkin about me! Now shut your mooth! We aw were worried sick about ye! And ye never thought for once; for wan wee second to call us and to tell us where ye were, and that ye were safe! Ye ever do somethin like that again; ye get a bigger earful than what ye are now! What were ye thinkin man! That none of us would worry about ye?..." Mary took a breath as she looked at her father with narrowed eyes and brows. Hogan at first; didn't know what his daughter was saying, but soon realized what she was saying. He went to tell her that he had a job to do, but felt fear run threw him like ice; when Mary narrowed her eyes even more. The look she was giving him with her snowy blue eyes; gave her eyes a demonic look. Hogan smiled a very weak smile; then spoke in a shaky voice.

"Your right I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that, and I will never do that again. When I go out again; I will check in, and tell all of you where I am, and that I am safe." He told her with a fearful voice. Mary dropped her hands, and softened her eyes.

"Good because none of us want to lose you. I love you Papa, and I have went threw too much hell, and had waited for too long to be with my father; for you to get yourself killed. I was worried about you; as well as Vater, and Peter too. Don't ever do that again." Said Mary in her sweet British voice. Hogan shook his head quickly, but raised a brow; when he had realized that Mary's voice had went back to normal. Mary walked over and leaned down to kiss her father on the forehead; then she told him.

"I'm not going to cook breakfast this morning. Peter and I are going out to town, and to church. Vater will cook you breakfast, and you better stay in bed." Hogan nodded his head, and watched his little girl walk out of the bedroom. Mary walked out of the bedroom; to find three men looking at her with widen eyes.

"What?" She asked them; then asked her love

"Are you ready to go Peter?" Mary saw the clothes that her love was wearing. Newkirk was wearing the dark blue leather jacket that she made him for his birthday; as well as the black pants, and the knee high boots too. Her eyes looked down at his hand, and saw the Medusa coin ring that Klink had gave him also on his birthday.

"Yeah I'm ready." Said Newkirk with a sheepish smile, and a nod of his head. Mary moved toward the front door, and Newkirk followed his love out of the small house. While the two in love walked out of the small family home; Klink and Kinch looked at each other with still widen eyes. They both quickly walked toward the bedroom. Hogan looked up at them as they walked in. Klink was the first to walk in; then Kinch. As the Sergeant shut the door; he heard the older man ask the younger Colonel.

"Where the hell did that come from?" Hogan shook his head still with shocked eyes.

"I don't know. Lizzie was English; not Scottish." Both Colonel's looked over at the Sergeant when he spoke.

"You have never heard Mary talk like that before?" He asked.

"No.. not even when she was younger… Well at least we all now know when she is pissed off." Klink started to laugh lightly at this.

"Yes we do." Hearing the older man laughing lightly; made Kinch start to laugh lightly as well. Hogan also started to laugh as well. Out on the small porch; Mary turned around toward her love. She looked at her loves face to see that his cheeks were flush, and that his breathing was slightly heavy.

"Peter? Are you alright?" She asked him. Newkirk closed the distance between himself and his love. He quickly took Mary into his arms, and leaned down to kiss her with passion. Mary raised a brow in the kiss, but kissed him back. When her love pulled away; she looked at him with still a raised brow.

"What was that for?" She asked him.

"I don't know… I just wanted to kiss you really badly." He told her the truth.

"Oookay…. Peter are you sure you are feeling alright?" She asked him. Newkirk nodded his head.

"Yeah I'm good; why?" He asked her.

"Because your cheeks are flushed. Do you have a fever?" She asked him again while raising her hand up to feel his forehead.

"I'm fine; I just wanted to kiss you is all." He told her half of the truth. Mary dropped her hand from her loves forehead. With a shrug of her shoulders; Mary walked down the steps, and toward the waiting car. The two German Corporal's; Habicht and Bischof looked at the two walking toward them. Both men's jaws dropped when they saw the dress that Mary had on, and the clothes that the English Corporal had on as well.

"Wow, you two look amazing." Said Bischof as he moved to open the door for Mary.

"Danke Julian." Mary smiled at him, and got in the back of the car. Newkirk smiled at the German man, and got in the back as well. Then both German guards got into the car, and drove the car out of the camp.

It had been two hours after his nonblood daughter and son had left the camp. Klink was now in his office working on some paperwork. He looked up when he heard the door to his office open. He smiled when he saw Hilda standing at the door, and her mother behind her. He knew that deep down; that Sergeant Kinch would be very happy to see Regina once again. Hilda walked in and over to his desk, and told him that someone was here to see him. He thanked her and asked her to tell them to come into his office. A man that was the same age as himself walked into the room.

"Aw Emanuel it's so nice to see you again." Klink said as he stood up, and walked over to the man, and hugged him. Hilda watched the two older men hug; then watched them pull apart.

"Hilda could you make sure that no one interrupts us?" He asked her. Hilda nodded her head, but asked.

"No one? Not even Sergeant Schultz?" Klink shook his head.

"No, not even him. The only way he or anyone is to interrupt us; is if it's life, or death. I have to talk to Manuel about what all happened with Robert and Hochstetter." He told her.

"Wilhelm!" Said Manuel somewhat loudly. Klink looked over toward his friend and smiled.

"Don't worry; Hilda and her Mutter know what is going on here… right? Your mother does know right?" He asked the young woman. Hilda went to answer, but her mother poked her head in and said.

"Yes I do. James told me some of it. That things here are not what they look like, but as long as I get to see James, and spend time with him; I don't care what all goes on here." As Regina finished what she had to say; she pulled her head back into the other room. Hilda rolled her eyes at her mothers actions.

"Don't worry Herr Kommandant; I will make sure that no one comes in." With that said; the young woman closed the door. Klink smiled, and looked over toward his friend.

"Please Manuel, sit down and we will talk." The German Colonel pointed at a chair with his opened hand. Both men made their way toward the chairs that were near a small table. As Klink's friend walked over to the chair. Klink moved and grabbed a crystal decanter, and two glasses. As Klink sat down; he poured himself, and his old friend a drink. Manuel took a drink of what he knew was to be Schnapps, but as he swallowed; he looked at the glass; then at his friend that was laughing lightly. The man licked his lips; as he spoke.

"Why does your Schnapps taste like apples?" He asked. With another laugh; Klink told him.

"I had this kind specially made. I love apples; you know that." He said as he took a drink as well. Manuel rolled his eyes at his friend.

"Now please tell me what all actually happened." Said the German Colonel. Sitting his glass down; Manuel started to speak.

"Well, I had gotten to the train station just a few minutes before Major Hochstetter, and your American friend. I went inside, and acted like I was waiting for a train. They both sat out in the car for a good long time.. I don't know what they were talking about, but it looked to be important…"

"What do you mean?" Asked Klink wanting to know. Manuel shrugged his shoulders, and said.

"Well it looked like the Major was telling the younger Colonel something. The look on your friends face looked to be somewhat sad at times; then full with curiosity at times. Then it looked like both of them were laughing at something that your friend had said." Klink narrowed his brows, and looked down at the floor. He wondered what his love and the Major had been talking about. He then looked back at his friend when he started to speak again.

"I saw your younger friend get out of the car; when the train pulled into the station. He then stopped walking, and waited on the Major. As they both were walking to the station; I saw them talking very low about something. I say it was the plan on how they were going to blow up the train. I will get to the part that I know you want to know the most about. It was when they both ran into the woods; is when I slipped out of the building. I saw all the men running back to the train, but one…"

"The Lieutenant…" Said Klink. Manuel nodded his head.

"Yes it was the Lieutenant. I saw him run and hide around the building as the other men got on the train. After the train pulled out; he made his way over to the train tracks, and laid down near the raised tracks. He had noticed what I hadn't, nor what anyone had seen… He saw that your young friend had left the bag on the train.. He had a bag on his side while walking up to the train; but not when he gotten off. I looked around the side of the building; I saw your…"

"Just say Hogan." Klink said with an eye roll. Manuel sighed and started to speak again.

"Hogan came out of the woods. The Lieutenant got up, and pulled out his gun. Hogan looked back to see the Major coming out of the woods. He turned around, and saw the gun at his head. I had at that time pulled out my sniper rifle, and was pointing it at the Lieutenant's head. Then when I heard the Major tell the Lieutenant; that he would kill Hogan.. I have to admit Wilhelm; I didn't know who to kill. If I would have killed either the Major or the Lieutenant; then one of them would have killed Hogan." At this time; Klink had looked away, and toward the floor.

"I heard the shot, but I didn't see anyone fall to there knees for a few seconds. Then I saw the Lieutenant drop. The Major fired his gun again, and killed the Lieutenant. I saw the two talk for a few seconds… then I saw the Major drop his gun, and catch Hogan before he hit the ground. The Major tried to help him up, but I say that your younger friend couldn't get up…"

"Robert said that he was shot in the side, and was dying." Klink said in a low voice. Manuel raised a brow at this.

"Well I saw the Major hold your sweetheart in his arms for a few seconds." Klink at this point had looked over when he heard his friend say the word 'sweetheart'.

"Sweetheart?" He asked. Manuel smiled wide; then told Klink something that he never knew about himself.

"Wilhelm, you only call someone by their first name; if they are family, or your sweetheart." He told him. The German Colonel smiled a sheepish smile.

"Anyway, what I saw the Major do next actually shocked me. He said something to Hogan; then got them both up. He pretty much dragged your sweetheart to the car, and helped him into the front seat. He then got in the car, and drove off. I did follow them to a home of a doctor that had retired only a few days ago." Klink raised a brow at this.

"How did you, or Hochstetter know that the man had retired only a few days ago?" He asked him. Manuel sighed, and picked up his glass as he spoke.

"Wilhelm, don't you read the paper?" He asked. Klink smiled as his friend took a drink.

"No I don't. I got tired of reading fake news. Robert and the others had changed the papers so many times; that I just stopped reading it." Manuel smiled after he swallowed his drink.

"They changed the news in the papers?" He asked him. Klink nodded his head.

"Ja they did… But anyway; go on." The man across the table nodded his head, and went on.

"Well the Major went to the door and banged on it with his fist. When no one came to the door; he ran back to the car, and put on his glove. He ran back over to the door, and broke the small window that was in the door. He opened the door; well by that time the doctor had came down the stairs. Now this was what really shocked me the most… The Major pulled out his gun, and told the doctor to help his friend, or he would kill everyone in the house. The doctor nodded his head, and went out to the car, and helped your sweetheart inside. The whole time the Major had the gun pointed at the man's head. The doctor helped Hogan, and afterwards; the doctor had helped him into the back of the car, and laid him down in the back seat. He told the Major what he needed to do for your sweetheart. Then the Major handed the doctor a large amount of money, and thanked him. He then drove just outside of the camp; got out of the car, and went into the woods. I don't know where he went to, but he came back within a few minutes. He then drove the car into the camp, and well you know what happened after that." After Manuel had finished speaking; Klink was now looking at the man with widen eyes, and opened mouth.

"You mean to tell me that Hochstetter held a gun to the doctor's head, and said that he would kill all in the house; if he didn't help Robert?" Manuel nodded his head as he took a drink.

"Ja he did. I have to admit… the Major was truly worried for your sweetheart. He tried his hardest to help him, and I say that he was going to move heaven and hell to get Hogan help." Klink leaned back into his chair, and couldn't believe that the man that had hated his love for so long; had done what he had done to help him.

Mary and Newkirk got up from their seats, and went to walk out of the church. There at the door was the Priest and the Bishop of the church. Mary glanced behind her; to see her love and Bischof. She had smiled when her new friend actually took a seat this time, and had not stood against the wall; like he had done the last time they were here. Looking ahead of her; Mary saw the few people that had came to church this morning; talking to the two churchmen. She narrowed her brows, and thought on how she was going to ask them about them doing the Christening next Sunday. As she stepped closer; Mary raised her brows, and smiled a wide smile at the two churchmen.

"Hallo Father Thomas, it's nice to see you again." She told him. Father Thomas smiled at the young woman.

"Danke Fräulein Mary." Father Thomas looked over toward the Bishop, and spoke to him.

"Bishop Tobias, this is Fräulein Mary. She is the one that the Reverend Mother said had cooked all that food for the people of Germany." The Bishop smiled wide; then spoke.

"Ah so this is Der Heilige aus dem Stalag 13." At first Newkirk raised a brow at what the older man had said. Then turned his head slightly; to hear what Bischof whispered into his ear.

"He just called her; the saint from Stalag 13." Newkirk smiled wide; then took a step to the side to look at his loves face. Mary had a blush on her cheeks at what the older man had said.

"Oh well.. I wouldn't call me a saint Bishop Tobias; I just wanted to help those that needed food. I had once known what it was like to go without, and had felt my own body dying. I just couldn't sleep well at night; knowing that there was others feeling the same; as I had once." Mary saw the two men before her widen their eyes. She then smiled and added. "My mother wasn't a nice person, and she turned my step father against me. They both hated me very much, and tried their hardest to kill me, but my faith is what saved me… I had to survive for my father Colonel Hogan of Stalag 13. I had actually took a lot of the abuse for him. My mother had told me many times that she would have him killed; if I didn't do as told… But I survived for my father, and now I survive for my loved ones. My gold heart Peter, the Kommandant of the camp, Herr Oberst Klink; who I call my Vater; my father's and my gold heart's friend; that I call my brothers. My sweet Uncle Hochstetter, and as well as Grandfather Burkhalter, and well… so many more that I see, and call my family. I had went from having no one; to having so many in my life. I just wanted to help those that were in need is all. I know what it is like to be tested on your faith, and how to over come what I have been threw. My father had actually asked a man that he… somewhat doesn't like; to be my godfather. He wants to make Herr Major Hochstetter my Godfather next Sunday…"

"Why next Sunday?" Asked the Bishop; who was shocked at all he had heard up to now. While Mary was speaking; the two churchmen were in shock and disbelief; at what this young woman had went threw up to now.

"Next Sunday is my birthday, and my father would like for me to have my Christening on that day. He will be out in town with me on that day, and I know for a fact that I had never had one. So I was actually hoping if one, or both of you could help us out on that day? Major Hochstetter will be here of course, and will become my Godfather on that day too… So do you think you could help us?" Mary asked them. Both men looked at each other; then back at Mary.

"Ja we can. I will have everything ready for that day, but there are somethings that will have to happen before, during, and after." Said the Bishop. Mary narrowed her brows a bit, but listened to the older man.

"Before; there must be both a male and female to take on the role of godparent. They cannot be, or become a guardian of the child…"

"Wait they cannot become a guardian?" Asked Newkirk. The Bishop shook his head.

"No they cannot; they are to only be the godparent is all." Mary looked over toward her love.

"Peter? What's wrong?" She asked him. Newkirk looked down at his love, and told her what she had missed.

"Mary, your father said that after your Christening, and back at camp; that Klink was to bring up papers making Hochstetter your guardian. If he is made your godfather; than that means that…"

"That he can't become my guardian…" Mary closed her eyes, and lowered her head. Newkirk stepped closer; when he saw tears fall from his loves eyes.

"I'm sorry diamond heart.. I really am." He told her as he hugged her.

"Uncle will be so disappointed to hear this…" She said threw her tears. It was Bischof; who spoke up next.

"Lady Mary, I don't think that's why you are crying.." Mary looked up at him; as Newkirk nodded his head.

"No I don't think it is." Said her love.

"What do you mean?" She asked them both. Newkirk smiled down at his love with a loving smile.

"My diamond heart… you are crying because you want Hochstetter to be both your Godfather, and your guardian." Mary let out a small sob as she nodded her head. As Newkirk hugged her tighter; the Bishop frowned; then thought of something that he could try to help this young woman.

"I can write to the Pope, or try to get ahold of him in someway, and see if I can get him to make a dispensation." All three of the youths looked at the older man.

"Do you think that his Holiness will allow this?" Asked Father Thomas. Bishop Tobias looked over at the other man.

"I don't know, but I will try… If this doesn't work my dear child; then you will have to either find someone else to become your Godfather, or your guardian." He told the crying young woman in front of him. Mary smiled a small smile, and nodded her head.

"Thank you kindly gracious Bishop." Said Mary with a loving smile.

Klink was now sitting at his desk. His eyes looked over the clean desk. With a large smile; Klink was happy to have been able to finish the paperwork before lunch time. Manuel had left the camp a few hours ago, and Klink was now thinking of what his friend had told him. 'Hochstetter had done all of that; just to be able to save Robert's life? Either he is putting on one hell of a show, or… or he has changed, and is now on our side. The fact that he had dragged Robert to the car; pointed a gun at the doctor's head, and said that he would kill everyone in the house; just to be able to save a man that he once had hated more than anything on this earth… It shocks me, but… than again… if it wasn't for Mary coming here to the camp; then I say that man would have never done this… She can change anyone's mind, and have them see things differently… That is one thing that makes her so different than anyone else. I say that if Mary wanted to; then she could changed the mind of anyone she talks to. But… But I have a feeling that she will use that gift of hers on someone of power, and either stop this war, or save someone that she cares for.' As Klink thought this to himself; he had closed his eyes, and didn't hear the door to his office open. It was when he felt arms around his neck, and a head resting on his; is when Klink opened his eyes, and looked up. He frown slightly to himself; then said.

"Why are you not in bed?" He asked his young love.

"I can get up and move around… I just can't lift anything." Said Hogan. Hogan leaned up, and walked around his loves chair. Chocolate brown eyes looked down into baby blue eyes. Both men smiled wide at each other.

"How are you feeling my little fox?" Hogan smiled wide at his loves nickname for him.

"I am feeling somewhat better, my brave phoenix." Klink returned the smile that his love had on his lips. His eyes looked into the younger man's eyes, and saw what looked to be pain. Klink got up from his chair, and placed his hand on his loves back.

"Here sit down; I can see that you are in pain." Hogan smiled to himself, and sat down in his loves seat. With a low sigh; Hogan looked up at the older man.

"Well this is different." Both men looked over toward the door, and saw Hilda standing at the door. As the young woman walked into the room; both men tried to hide their sheepish smiles.

"Do you have anymore papers for me?" Hilda looked over when the older Colonel spoke to her.

"No Herr Kommandant. I saw Colonel Hogan walk in here, and I was wondering how you were feeling?" Hogan smiled when the younger woman looked over at him while she spoke.

"I feel better, but I was hoping to figure out what to do for Mary for her birthday."

"I thought you were writing a book?" Asked the older man. Hogan sighed lightly; then said dryly.

"I was, but I… I still don't know how to start it." Hilda giggled lightly at the words of the young Colonel.

"I'm sure that Mary would love all the gifts that everyone is making her." Said Klink.

"To bad she will not have any place to put all of the gifts." Both men looked over toward Hilda when she spoke again.

"What do you mean?" Asked Hogan with a raised brow.

"Well, Mary has no place in the camp to call her own. She is always around men, and really has no place to go to be alone. She could be in the house, but anyone could walk in there looking for one of you. Mary needs a place to call her own… like her own little get away." As Hilda spoke; both men knew that she was speaking the truth.

"True.. Mary really doesn't have her own little place to call her own. I mean both of us have our office's, but she has no where to go; to just be alone." Said Klink with a frown. Hogan looked to the side, and a thought came to mind. A large smile came to his lips; as an idea came to his mind. Klink glanced toward his love, and saw the smile.

"Oh no… you have an idea; don't you." Hogan looked up at his love with a large smile, and nodded his head.

"Yeah I do; how about Barracks 4? It has not been in use for a good while, and I say that it will not be. It is always empty; I could clean it out, and fix it up. Then Mary can put all of her gifts in there, and have her own place to work on her dresses, and read, or to do what she wants. We can get her some furniture, and put in there. She could invite Hilda, or whoever over there, and she can talk to them without anyone walking in on them, or her." Hogan smiled from ear to ear as he talked. Klink liked this idea; except for a few details.

"That is a good idea, but…"

"But what?" Asked Hogan as he cut in. Klink sighed, and told his love the problem with his idea.

"But you can't pick anything up, nor can you move things around now. You will have to have someone to help you." Hogan smiled wide and stood up, but moved too quickly. He hissed at the pain from his side.

"See." Said the older man dryly. Hogan frowned somewhat, but said.

"I know that I will need help, and I will ask the guys if they will help me." Klink narrowed his eyes at the younger man.

"You better, because if I find out that you are moving things around without help.. I will have to punish you, and you will not like how." He warned the younger man. Hogan smiled and nodded his head.

"Alright; I will ask for help… I'm going to go over there now, and see if they want to help me today, or later on." Hogan went to walk out of the office, but stopped at the door. He turned around, and looked at his love.

"You might want to call Burkhalter, and see if it's alright for me to do this. You know how he gets at times." Klink nodded his head, and picked up the phone. As his love walked out the door; Klink spoke to Hilda.

"Hilda go with him, and make sure he does ask for help please?" Hilda smiled, and walked after the hardheaded younger Colonel. Hogan walked out of the Kommandantur, and over toward Barracks 2. He stopped walking when he heard someone behind him. Turning around; Hogan saw Hilda standing behind him with a smile on her face. She giggled as the younger man rolled his eyes, and started to walk toward the Barracks again. He opened the door, and walked inside; with Hilda right behind him. Carter, LeBeau, and Kinch all looked over when their Colonel walked into the room. They all raised a brow when they saw Hilda behind him.

"Hi there Miss Hilda. What are you doing here?" Asked Carter. Hilda smiled at him; then said.

"Herr Kommandant told me to follow Colonel Hogan." She said as she looked over toward the man she was speaking about.

"Okay… What do you need Colonel?" Asked Kinch as he stood up from his chair.

"I was hoping that you three could help me fix up Barracks 4 for Mary. I had an idea of making it into her own little get away. Mary will need a place to put everything that everyone is going to be making her. Barracks 4; will be her own little place; to do whatever she wants… but where I'm hurt… I need help. I can't pick up anything, nor move things… So I will need all of you to move things for me. I will sweep the floors, and things like that, but I can't do very much though… None of you have to help me; I could do this when I feel better, but I would like to get it ready for her; before her birthday." As Hogan spoke; he was not sure that the men would help or not. He would not be very much help, and he didn't want to use them.

"Okay, do you want to do it now, or do you want to eat lunch first; then start?" Asked Carter. Hogan looked over toward his young friend.

"Carter, none of you have to help. All of you have done your gifts for Mary, and it's not right for all of you to do most of the work, and I take all the credit for it." Carter raised a brow at his commanding officer. Both Kinch and LeBeau as well as Hogan looked over toward Carter when he stood up, and walked over to Hogan.

"Colonel, I hope what I say next; will not end up going against me later on… but… But you are hurt, because you were doing your job. I know as well as everyone else; that you want to make this birthday the greatest birthday that Mary will ever have. Us helping you clean up, and redoing Barracks 4, and you taking credit for it… isn't a big deal. We all want Sunday to be the best and the greatest birthday that Mary will ever have. Now stop being so hardheaded, and let us help you. You are hurt, and you need to be in bed. We can do this for you.. You are right; Mary needs a place that she can call her own, and somewhere where she can go; to get away from the men of this camp. We will do everything, and you go back to bed and rest. We will do this for you." Carter smiled at the end. Hogan smiled as well; then looked over toward his other two friends. Both Kinch and LeBeau nodded their heads at him. Hogan then turned his head back toward the youngest Sergeant.

"Where did that come from Carter?.. I'm not angry; just shocked that you would speak like that." Carter smiled, and told the older man who he saw as a father.

"Mary told me awhile back; to start seeing myself as worthy and smart, and I will show everyone just how amazing I am. After she told me that; I stopped listening to the voices in my head that was always telling me that I was going to make a mistake, or do something wrong. And sissy was right; I have let others get to me. I have tried to be better at standing up for myself, and well… be more like her and… you." When Carter said the last part; he did a sheepish smile. Hogan smiled at the younger man.

"Well then, how about we all get started after we eat some lunch. Then we can go over to Barracks 4, and start cleaning it out." Said Hogan. Hogan watched the young man before him; smile wide.

Mary and Newkirk walked into the fabric shop. Mary was feeling better after the Bishop had told her that he would write the Pope. Now in her favorite store; Mary was now pulling Newkirk over toward the fabrics that she was going to buy; to make the clothes for the churches. Habicht walked behind the two in love; with mixed feelings. He was happy that the two were out with each other, and was getting to be together outside of the camp, but he was also not looking forward to carrying everything the young woman was going to buy. Habicht looked down at the floor, and sighed to himself. He was hoping that Mary would not buy so much this time.

"Ooohhh Hawk… come here for a moment." Habicht smiled when Mary said his last name in English, but looked and saw her smiling wide at him. With a groan; Habicht walked over, and held out his arms. Newkirk laughed lightly at the man's actions. Mary smiled at him; then started to fill his arms with fabric again. Newkirk's smile soon faded; as he saw how much fabric Mary was putting in the guards arms. When the guard's arms were full; Mary turned toward Newkirk, and started to fill his arms up with fabric. Mary went to walk toward the lace, but heard her friend speak to her.

"Lady Mary! That dress is beautiful!" Said Aylee as she walked closer to her friend. Mary smiled and hugged her friend.

"Oh Aylee, I am so glad to see you again, and thank you. But I would like to show you Peter's jacket I made him for his birthday not too long ago." Said Mary; then looked behind her when she heard her loves rough voice.

"Well uhmm, diamond heart.. I might have to put these down for her to see my jacket." Both women looked at each other and giggled.

"Alright, come and lets put them on the counter." Said Aylee as she moved out of the way. Mary walked over, and led her Huntsman toward the counter; as Aylee walked behind Habicht, and helped him find his way to the counter as well. By the time Aylee and Habicht had reached the counter; Newkirk had place the fabric down on the counter. As Mary started to help Habicht; Aylee looked at Newkirk's jacket.

"Oh Lady Mary, this is beautiful. I do like it, and the boots as well. The whole outfit goes so well together." Newkirk smiled as the woman complimented his loves work.

"Thank you. I do have to say; that I kinda out did myself with my gold hearts jacket." Mary said with a large smile; as she turned around to look at her friend again.

"I think you should make a coat somewhat like that one, but maybe in green though." Said Habicht; as he tried to get the feeling back into his arms. Mary smiled at what her friend had said.

"I may make me one like my Huntsman's one day, but I am working on a few that is in the military style." As Mary said this; Newkirk smiled, and knew whose uniform; his love was modeling them after.

"I know whatever you make; will look beautiful… Would you like to see some of the new fabric I have in the back. I have new lace, and some new silk too." Mary smiled wide, and nodded her head. As the two women walked into the back; Newkirk and Habicht was left out in the main part of the store. Newkirk looked over toward the man; who sighed deeply.

"Did Mary get this much last time?" Newkirk asked him. The guard glanced over toward the Englishman, and nodded his head.

"You have no idea how much she can buy." At this time both women came out from the back. Newkirk noticed that his love was not carrying anything, nor was the store owner. Aylee walked around the counter, and rang up everything Mary had bought.

"Okay Lady Mary that's one thousand marks." Newkirk looked over toward his love with widen eyes.

"This is only a few hundred… How is the total that much?" Mary smiled a large smile as Habicht spoke up next.

"You bought everything in the back; didn't you?" Mary said nothing, but nodded her head. Newkirk turned his head to the side; then looked at the guard when he spoke again.

"I will tell the truck to park in front of the store." As Habicht walked out of the store; Newkirk spoke.

"Truck?... There's a truck waiting?" He asked as he looked over toward his love; who smiled a quick smile.

"There maybe a truck waiting." Mary quickly turned around, and handed the money to her friend.

Hogan and the others were now in Barracks 4. His three friends had moved the beds and other things out of the barracks, and were now working on the stove. The stove had not been used for along time, and was in bad shape. LeBeau had told his Commanding Officer; that he would have to tell Klink to get a new one for the Barracks. As Hogan swept the floor; he had opened the door to sweep the dirt outside. While he was doing this; two different vehicles drove into camp. One was their friend who had to changed the guard dogs out, and the other was the truck with the lumber; that was to be used for the barn. He watched as a few POWs walked over to the truck. Hogan sat the broom against the doorway of the Barracks, and walked over toward the men that were near the guards and Schultz.

"What's going on here?" Hogan asked a few of his men.

"We were going to ask the Kommandant; if the guards needed help building the barn for Lady Mary's horses." Said Kingston. Hogan smiled and nodded his head.

"I see no problem with that." They all looked over to see Klink walking over toward them.

"I say that the guards will need help… If they know how to build a barn." Joked the older Colonel. Hogan smiled, and looked over toward Kingston.

"Go ahead and start building the barn." He told the young man with a smile. Kingston nodded his head, but then asked the Kommandant.

"Where would you like for us to put the barn at?" Klink narrowed one brow, and looked around the camp.

"Well they will need somewhere with shade, and an open area to eat grass; so… probably over in that corner." Said Klink as he pointed to the far corner at the front of the camp. With a nod of his head; Kingston and some of the others walked toward the area; where the German Colonel had pointed at. One of the guards told the truck driver to pull the truck to where Kingston and the others were standing. The truck pulled away from the two Colonels, and over toward the men. Klink looked over toward Hogan. He noticed that the younger man looked tired, and was not up for moving around too much. Hogan glanced over and saw the older man looking at him.

"What?" He asked him.

"How are you feeling?" He asked him. Hogan smiled at his love.

"I'm feeling good. I'm not doing too much. If I go to pick anything up like a piece of paper; Carter runs over and takes it from me." Hogan said with a large smile. Klink chuckled at this.

"Good; he needs too. I see that we are getting new dogs today." Hogan looked over, and saw one of the dogs that was being put into the pin.

"Do you mind if I go and ask him something about one of the dogs?" Klink shook his head; then replied.

"No, I don't mind, but I will have to walk over there with you though." Hogan nodded his head, and both men started to walk over toward the dog pin. As both Colonel's walked over toward the pin; Oscar Schnitzer placed the new dogs into the pin. He looked up, and felt his heart race with fear; at the sight of the camps Kommandant walking toward him. Hogan walked over and stood next to him.

"Don't worry Oscar; Klink is on our side." He told him in a low voice. The older man nodded his head, and looked at Klink. Klink had raised a brow at his loves words.

"Who haven't you got on the outside?" He asked his love also in a low voice. Hogan smiled wide, and replied.

"You would be surprised." He said with a smile; then looked at the dogs in the pin. There was one dog that stood out of the rest.

"What's with that one? That one is a different color than the rest." Hogan asked, and stated. Oscar looked over toward the dog that Hogan was looking at.

"That one is a liver color. He was the only one out of the litter that was that color. He's about two years old." Said Oscar.

"He's beautiful." As Hogan said this; the dog walked over next to the pin, and stood on his hind legs, and placed his front paws on the wire. Hogan couldn't help himself; he had to pet the dog. As he petted the dog; the dog wagged his tail, and smelt Hogan's jacket covered arm. Klink smiled at his loves actions, and how the dog seem to take to his love so quickly.

"He is a beautiful dog. What do you call him?" Asked Klink. Oscar looked over toward the older Colonel, and told him the dogs name.

"Well, he really doesn't have a name, but his number is 575." Klink raised a brow at the man's words; then looked over toward his love when he spoke.

"Well I think you need a name… How about Ranger?" Hogan asked the dog. The dog barked and jumped down, and turned around; then raised back up on his hind legs again, and placed his paws against the wire. Hogan chuckled at the dogs actions.

"Well then Ranger it is." He said; then looked over toward his love when he spoke.

"You better go back to Barracks 4, and tell the boys what to do next. I'm sure that it will take a few days to get the building ready for our little girls birthday." Hogan nodded his head, and dropped his hand. Ranger sighed, and moved away from the wire, and sat down.

"Yeah I should get back." He looked over toward Oscar; who was giving him an odd look.

"Who?" He asked.

"My daughter's seventeenth birthday is next Sunday. She is here in camp now; long story, but I know that she would like to meet you the next time you come to camp. Just don't come on a Sunday, and you will get to meet her. Sunday's are her day to do whatever she wants." As Hogan spoke to his friend; Klink could hear the tiredness in the younger man's voice.

"Robert, maybe you should go and lay down for a while; the boys can finish the rest." Klink said this as he stepped closer to his love. Hogan turned his head, and smiled at the older man.

"Will, I'm okay." He told him; then walked off. As Hogan walked off; Klink narrowed his brows at his love in worry.

"I'm sorry Herr Oberst, but he does sound tired." Said Oscar.

"I know he does, and I know that he will not go and lay down either." At this time; Ranger started to wine. Oscar looked over toward the dog.

"Now what's with you?" He asked the dog. Ranger started to bark along with wining. He started to jump against the wire; which shocked both men standing beside the outside wire. Oscar was now afraid that the dog would hurt itself. He opened the door to the pin, and Ranger backed away from him. But when Oscar leaned down to see what was wrong with the dog; Ranger jumped on the man's back, and ran out of the opened pin door. Oscar had landed on his stomach, and Klink moved out of the dogs way. He watched the dog run over toward his love who was still walking toward Barracks 4. Ranger ran over, and grabbed Hogan's jacket covered arm, and pulled him to the ground. Hogan let out a yell of surprise as the dog pulled him to the ground. Klink ran over toward his love; as did Carter, Kinch, and LeBeau; who had taken a break outside of the Barracks. Hogan was now on the ground; on his back, and was now being pinned to the ground by the dog.

"Get this dog off of me!" He yelled out, but laughed. As Hogan spoke to Ranger; everyone ran up to him, and heard him say.

"Did you not want me to g…" Hogan didn't finish what he was saying; when the pain in his head came on. His friends, and his love watched their friend and loved one; start to shake lightly.

"Robert!" Klink yelled out, and moved beside his love. The older man pushed Ranger off of his love and to the side. As Klink rolled the younger Colonel onto his side; Ranger started to bark loudly. Hogan started to bend backwards; as his breathing nearly stopped.

"HOLY SHIT!" Yelled out Kinch as he saw his friend bend farther back; to where his heels were now touching his head.

"WHAT'S WRONG WITH HIM?!" Yelled Carter out of fear.

"He's having a seizure!" Yelled out Klink; as he held onto the younger man. Ranger quickly moved over, and laid himself on top of Klink and Hogan. When Klink felt his love start to relax, and take a deep breath in; was when Klink knew that his loves seizure was over. He rolled the now sleeping man back over onto his back.

"Robert?.. Robert, can you hear me?" He asked him. Ranger moved upwards, and licked Hogan in the face; which caused him to wake up some.

"Will?" Hogan breathed out in a sleepy voice.

"Robert, we have to get you to the house and into bed." Said Klink as he placed his hand on the side of his loves face.

"K." Was all the younger man said. Klink turned his head, and looked over toward his loves three friends.

"Kinch, Carter, help me get him to the house, and to bed. LeBeau, go and tell Oscar to bring another dog to replace Ranger; then tell Schultz; to tell the POW's and the guards not to tell Mary, nor Newkirk that Hogan had a seizure." Klink quickly told the three what to do. The three men moved quickly and did as told.

Mary and Newkirk walked into the bookstore. Mary smiled wide as she started to look at the books. She saw something on one of the tables that was in the room; that she had to get for her father. Newkirk didn't have time to speak; when she started to fill his arms up with books. Habicht walked into the store; after losing to a coin toss with Bischof. His eyes widen when he saw the books in the English Corporal's arms. He ran over and went to take some books from the English Corporal, but his new young friend saw him, and started to fill his arms up as well. Newkirk looked over toward Habicht with widen eyes. Both men with the widen eyes heard a voice from behind them.

"Ah Lady Mary, it's nice to see you again." Said the bookstore owner. Mary turned around, and smiled at him.

"Oh Hallo, it's nice to see you again… Wait how did you know that my name was Mary?" She asked him. The owner walked over to her as he spoke.

"Your friend Aylee is my friends niece, and she told me all about you; when I ran into her at the market." He told her. Mary smiled wide at his words.

"Well I told you that I would come in every Sunday, and I meant what I said… but since you know my name.. What is yours?" She asked him with a sweet smile. The older man chuckled; then spoke.

"My name is Quentin Bruns… but my dear; this will be your last visit here… See I am going out of business, and I have to get rid of everything in the store.. Plus I am too old to be carrying heavy books around anymore." He told her with a smile.

"Oh no. I am so sorry." Said Mary with sadness in her voice.

"It's alright.. But since you are here; you can take any book you want, or anything you want for free."

"Oh god no!" Said Habicht when he heard this.

"You shut up." Mary told her friend with a wide smile; then giggled when he wined out.

"You don't need all of these books." He told her as he turned to the side to look at all the books; he knew that his young friend would get. Mary smiled at him again; then giggled when Newkirk spoke up, and sat down the books that was in his arms; on the table next to him.

"Mary can get all the books in the store if she wants too… She loves to read, and having her own library will be fine with me, and Colonel Klink." He told the German Corporal with a smile.

"Well actually my dear; you could have anything in the store. The bookcases, the tables, and even the desk in the back; I will have to clean this store out completely. Whatever you want is free my dear." Said Bruns again. Mary smiled then told him.

"No, I will pay for the books I have ordered, and whatever I find in here." She told him; while folding her arms over her chest. The older man went to tell her that she didn't have too, but Newkirk spoke up next.

"You might as well let her pay you; if not she will leave the money on the front desk." He told the older man. With a sigh; Bruns nodded his head.

"Very well." He smiled and walked over to the back door; then added. "Would you like to look at the desk?" He asked. Mary nodded her head, and grabbed Newkirk's hand. They went to walk towards the back of the store, but Habicht's voice stopped them.

"What about these books?" He asked; while moving the books in his arms upwards slightly.

"Go ahead and set them down, and go and tell Julian to call the camp, and to tell them to bring another truck." Mary told him with a smile.

"Another truck?" He asked her. Mary nodded her head.

"Yes, one of the trucks is for the food that I will be getting at the markets later." She told him with a smile; then pulled her love into the back to look at the desk. With a sigh; Habicht walked out of the building, and over to Bischof; who was standing next to Klink's car. Habicht told his friend what Mary had said; then what the owner had told them. Bischof sighed deeply; then went to find a phone to call the camp. Inside of the store; Mary and Newkirk looked at the desk, and it was too big for Mary to use. All three walked out of the back room. Mary watched the owner walk over to the books that he had found for her.

"Lady Mary, I still have not found the one book you were looking for." He told her. Mary frowned slightly; then listened when the man spoke again.

"You do know my dear; that you don't have to pay for these books." He told her with a smile. Mary shook her head; then replied.

"No, I will pay for these books; like I said that I would." She told him as she took the money out of her pocket. As his love was doing this; Newkirk saw the older man frown some, but then smile. 'What's he up too?' He asked himself. Newkirk was brought out of his thought; when he heard his love speak again.

"How much will it be?" Mary asked the owner with a smile; as she looked up at him with the money in her hand. Bruns smiled wider and told her.

"It will be five marks." He told her. Mary raised a brow, and frowned a little; when the older man had said this.

"Five marks… for all of these books? But that's not right.. All of these books would come out to be a hundred marks, or so… Wait are you just charging me for just one book?" She asked him.

"I am. You are the only one that has came into my store for years, and had bought so many books. I want you to have them, but I can see that you are a proud young woman, and still wants to pay for them. So I will only charge you for one book." He told her with a sweet smile. Mary smiled and shook her head.

"Nein." She told him. Newkirk and Bruns raised a brow at her; then listened as Mary spoke again.

"No, I will not just pay for one book. I will pay for the ones that I have ordered. You can use this money for something that you want or need. Or you could take your wife, and family out to supper with it. I am thankful that you are giving me pretty much everything in your store for free, but I will always keep my word. I will pay for these books with the right amount; it's the right thing to do." Newkirk smiled at his love, and looked over toward the once owner of the store when he spoke.

"Very well Lady Mary. That will be one hundred marks." He told her with a smile; then added. "It's nice to see someone in the world; that still keeps their word." Mary smiled and handed the older man the money. As the owner took the money; the door opened, and Habicht walked into the store.

"The truck is here and is pulling up to the door." He told the three in front of him. Mary nodded her head; then said.

"Alright. I paid for the books that I ordered, and you can put them with the rest of them… But make sure you put all the medical books to one side of the truck. I want to surprise Vater with them later." She told them with a smile. Habicht nodded his head; as the door behind him opened. Some of the guards from the camp walked into the store, and looked at their fellow guard.

"Everything in the store goes on the truck. The bookcases, and books… and what else?" He turned to asked either Mary or Newkirk.

"All of the bookcases, and all of the books, and that table there, and two of the chairs." Said Mary with a smile. Habicht turned toward the guards, and told them to start taking the books out of the cases carefully; then to take the cases out, then the table. Mary turned toward the owner, and thanked him once again for letting her take the books. Newkirk turned his head over to the right; when he saw Habicht walk over toward him, and lean in.

"When Bischof called the camp; Fräulein Hilda told him that Colonel Hogan, and your friends are cleaning out Barracks 4 for Lady Mary. They are going to make it into her own little getaway." Newkirk smiled wide when he heard the guard whisper this to him.

"Good, Mary needs her own space to sew and do what she wants; without eyes on her at all times. Tell the guards to drive the truck to the Barracks after they are done; then have them tell Colonel Hogan that these things were given to her, and to put them into the Barracks." Whispered Newkirk back to his loves friend. Habicht smiled and leaned back. He nodded his head, and walked over to one of the guards; that was to drive the truck. Newkirk watched the guard nod his head at what was said to him.

"Are you ready to go to the next store?" Newkirk looked down to his right side, and met his loves snowy blue eyes.

"Yes I am. Where are we going next?" He asked her. Mary's smile widen and told him.

"To the jewelry store. I want to get some jewelry; as some of the gifts." Mary smiled at him.

"Alright, let's go." He told her, and held out his arm for her. Mary giggled and wrapped her arm around her loves. The two walked out of the store arm in arm; with Habicht right behind them. Once outside; Mary went to walk toward the jewelry store, but was stopped by her love. She looked at her love with a raised brow. Newkirk smiled down at her; then nodded his head toward the left. Mary looked at what her love had nodded his head at.

"Uncle!" Mary yelled out when she saw Hochstetter standing only a few feet away. Hochstetter's eyes went from the truck; to the young woman he called niece; then braced himself for the large hug the young woman was about to give him. Mary hugged the man tightly. Newkirk smiled when he saw the Major hug his love back. After the hug ended; the Major spoke to the young woman he called niece.

"Don't you think you went a little overboard Meine Porzellanperle?" He asked her with a smile.

"Nein I didn't. The store owner, Mr. Bruns is closing his store, and he told me to take whatever I wanted." Mary said with a large smile.

"What are you doing out and about?" Asked Newkirk as he walked up to the two. Hochstetter glanced up at the young man.

"I was hoping that I would find you out this Sunday." He told them the truth. Both Mary and Newkirk raised a brow.

"You were?" Asked Mary. The Major nodded his head.

"Ja I was. I was hoping you could tell me how your father is doing? I was going to call, but there was too many eyes, and ears around me the whole time. And the others at Gestapo Headquarters would think something was off." He told them in a low voice.

"Papa is awake, and doing better. I'm sure that you could make up something to be able to go, and see him." Said Mary with a smile. Hochstetter smiled at her; then nodded his head.

"I was thinking of that, and I wanted to ask him what time I should be at the church next Sunday." As Hochstetter said the last part; Mary frowned some. The Major saw this, and narrowed his brows.

"What is it?" Asked the man who she saw as an Uncle.

"Father Thomas and Bishop Tobias said that you can be my godparent, but you cannot be or become my guardian." Said Mary in a sadden voice. Hochstetter frown at this news; then both looked over when Newkirk spoke.

"Bishop Tobias said that he would write the Pope, and ask for a dispensation to be sent here to allow this… So there is still hope." Mary looked into her loves blue flamed eyes, and saw the hope within them. Mary smiled wide, and nodded her head.

"Yes there is still hope." She said with a smile, and turned her head to face the man she called Uncle. Hochstetter smiled wide at the sight of the smile on the young woman's face.

"Yes there is." He said now smiling back.

Klink sat in the chair that was next to the bed. His eyes watched his loves chest raise and fall; then watched his young love roll over onto his side facing him. Hogan was in a deep sleep now, and had been for about an hour now. Klink's eyes glanced down to the floor. He smiled to himself; when the honeyed eyes of Ranger looked up at him. Ranger had followed him, and the others when they had carried Hogan to the house. When Carter and Kinch had laid Hogan on the bed; Ranger had walked over, and sat next to the bed. The dog had wined off and on while staring at Hogan. Ranger only stopped wining; when Klink patted him on the head, and told him that Hogan was going to be alright, and that he was a good boy. Ranger then laid down on the floor near the bed. Now as Klink stood up from his chair; the older man watched Ranger quickly get up, and looked at Hogan. Klink smiled and took two steps over to the dog.

"Don't worry boy; Robert's asleep. He'll be alright boy." Klink narrowed his brow as the dog moved closer to the bed, and placed his two front paws on the bed, and looked back at the older Colonel. With a smile; Klink patted the bed, and told Ranger to get on the bed. With a wagging tail; Ranger jumped up on the bed, and laid down in front of Hogan. In his sleep; Hogan moved his arm over the dog, and pulled him tight against him. Klink smiled at his loves action. Walking out of the room; Klink walked over to the phone, and picked up the handset.

"Herr General Burkhalter please." He said into the phone.

"Sure thing Kommandant." Klink narrowed his brows when he heard Carter's voice. 'Why the hell is he in the..?' Klink didn't have time to finish the rest of his thought; when he heard the slightly older man's voice.

"What is it Klink? I am trying to enjoy Sunday dinner with my wife and sister." Said the General over the line.

"Herr General, I was calling to tell you that one of the guard dogs that was brought to the camp; will now be by Hogan's side for now on."

"WHAT! Klink you have gone too far! No prisoner of war can have a pet!" The older General yelled over the phone. On the other end of the line; Burkhalter's face was red with anger. Berta and Gertrude looked at him with large eyes. In the older man's ear; he heard the slightly younger man say.

"The dog knew when Hogan was going to have a seizure, and alerted him to it. I don't care if you don't like it or not, but this dog will stay by Hogan's side for now on!" Klink said in a deep, but loud voice. Burkhalter frowned hard at hearing this; then looked over toward his wife when she spoke.

"What happened?" She asked him.

"Klink said that one of the guard dogs alerted Colonel Hogan; that he was going to have a seizure, and that the dog will be with him for now on. Now you listen here Klink…" The General went to yell at the Kommandant of the camp, but was cut off when his wife spoke again.

"Albert, that may not be a bad idea for the dog to stay with him."

"WHAT!" Yelled the General to his wife, but then realized what he had done. Berta narrowed her brows together, and stepped toward her husband and added.

"If the dog knows when a seizure is coming on; then he could stay with him, and then go and get Lady Mary! I'm sure that would make Mary feel better about leaving her father once a week to go out. If she comes back to camp, and finds out that her father had a seizure; then she may not want to leave him again. She will always be by his side…" Now Gertrude spoke up.

"Ja, and she will worry herself sick, and she will not take very good care of herself. That girl will panic when her father sighs wrong, or doesn't say anything right away.. Mary will worry herself to death, and that dog being with him; will help her mind, and will give her some comfort knowing that her father has something there to help him. Wilhelm can't always be around Colonel Hogan all the time, but that dog can. You should let Colonel Hogan have this dog… and besides; if the prisoners wanted to leave, or kill anyone; they would have done it by now…" Brother and sister looked over toward Berta when she spoke up again.

"She's right Albert; they out number the guards, and could have brought that camp to it's knees along time ago. I say that Colonel Hogan, and Lady Mary is the main reasons why they haven't killed everyone there, or you. There is a reason why Klink's camp is the best, and you need to stop being so hard on him." The General listened to his wife, but then looked over when his sister started to talk again.

"Ja Albert, Wilhelm runs that camp very well, and is just trying to keep everyone from finding something to dislike about that place, and taking over that camp. He works very hard to make sure all there is happy, and is treated fairly as well." Said Gertrude again. Over the other end of the phone; Klink was smiling at the words that was being said. He and Gertrude were good friends, but they could never have married. Klink then heard a sigh from the older man; then heard the General speak again.

"Very well Klink; the dog can stay with Hogan for Mary's sake… But that dog better never attack any of the guards, nor anyone that comes to that camp!"

"I'm sure that Ranger will be a good boy, and will never do that." Klink said with a smile; then looked over when the front door opened. Hochstetter walked into the house, and closed the door behind him.

"Who?" Asked the older man on the other end of the phone. Klink held up one finger at the Major; then replied to the voice.

"That's the dogs name. Hogan had named him before he had walked away from the dog pin. Then when he was walking back to Barracks 4; is when Ranger got out of the pin, and ran over to Hogan. He pulled Hogan to the ground and laid on top of him." When Klink said this; Hochstetter raised a brow. Klink nodded his head, and said.

"Yes Herr General; that is when Hogan had the seizure." Now the Major's eyes widen at this news, and turned his head over to look at the slightly older man. As Hochstetter then looked to the side; Klink started to speak again.

"Oh and the lumber came for the barn as well. A few of the prisoners are helping the guards build the barn, and the fencing as well… Ja Herr General; Barracks 4 is coming along nicely. There is a truck on it's way here now with bookcases, and books from the store that Mary had went into last Sunday. The store owner is closing, and he gave Mary all the books in his store as well as the cases, and I think a table or two. I do believe that some of the guards are out now shopping for rugs, and other things to put in Mary's little getaway…" Klink stopped talking when he heard Gertrude speak. On the other end of the phone the General's sister asked him.

"What is he saying?" With a sigh her brother told her.

"Klink is saying that Barracks 4 is coming a long nicely. Colonel Hogan wants to turn that into Mary's little getaway, and some of the prisoners are fixing it up for her, and the others are helping the guards build the barn for the horses; that I will be getting her for her birthday next Sunday."

"Her birthday is next Sunday?" Asked Berta with a smile. Her eyes watched her husband nod his head.

"Ja it is."

"Oh we will have to get her something Gertrude." Said Berta looking over toward her sister-in-law. The other woman nodded her head; then looked at her brother again.

"Are they keeping the stove in the Barracks?" She asked him. Her brother raised a brow at this question.

"Yes they will be… Why?" He asked her.

"Well if they are turning the Barracks into a little getaway for her; then that ugly stove will be an eye sore. You should order some bricks to be sent over to the camp; so that they can build her a fireplace. That would keep her warmer than that little stove." The General looked at his sister with a raised brow again.

"What?! Gertrude, I will not order bricks for a fireplace. The stove will be eng…."

"Albert! You will order the bricks for a fireplace. Both Gertrude and I read the file on that sweet girl; that you had brought home. That girl will not freeze again! She has been threw so much in her life, and she will not freeze because you are being a stubborn as a mule! Now get off that phone and order the bricks!" Yelled Berta at her husband. Over the other end of the phone; Klink had heard what had been said. He held in his laugh when he heard the General give into his wife.

"Very well, I will order some bricks… Klink just make sure that my money is being spent well." He told him, and hung up the phone. Klink sat the phone down, and started to laugh lightly. He turned his head toward the Major who was looking at him with a raised brow.

"Well at least I know now which Burkhalter runs the marriage." He said with another laugh. Hochstetter chuckled lightly, but looked toward the bedroom.

"How is he?" He asked. Klink raised a brow, and walked over toward the slightly younger man.

"Robert is asleep, but…" He stopped talking when they both heard a bark come from the bedroom. Klink ran toward the bedroom while calling his loves name.

"ROBERT!" Both men ran into the room, and saw Ranger wagging his tail, and looking at Hogan who was waking up. Hogan opened his eyes, and pushed his head back; when the first thing he saw was a dogs face.

"Oh hello." He said; as Ranger moved closer, and started to lick his face. Hogan smiled, and petted the guard dog on the head.

"Okay… I'm okay boy…" He said with a chuckle. Ranger moved closer; then rolled over onto his back. Hogan sighed, and started to rub the dogs belly and chest. He looked up when he noticed two people standing near the bed.

"Hi lovebug." He said as he continued to rub the dogs chest. Klink sighed with relief, and smiled at his love.

"Hi pain in the ass." Hogan frowned slightly; then looked over to see his new friend.

"Hochstetter, what are you doing here?" He asked him. The Major also sighed in relief; then smiled.

"I ran into Mary and Newkirk in town, and they said that you were awake. I wanted to come over here, and make sure that you were doing alright." He told the truth. Hogan smiled at this news.

"Awe thank you… but I am doing alright now." His eyes glanced over toward his love who still had worry in his eyes.

"I'm sorry. I should have listened to you, and stayed in bed. If I would have; then I wouldn't have had a seizure, and scared you again." Hogan apologized to his love. Klink smiled, and walked closer toward the bed.

"It's alright, but for now on; when I say 'stay in bed' you stay in bed." He told him. Hogan nodded his head; then looked over when Ranger rolled over and stood up on the bed. They all watched as the dog laid back down at the foot of the bed. Hogan smiled at the dog; then said.

"You know that you can't sleep there right; that you have to go back to the pin." Ranger rolled onto his back and wagged his tail.

"I think that's his way of saying no." Joked Hochstetter. Hogan chuckled lightly.

"I think you're right." Hogan chuckled lightly again; then looked at the older Colonel when he spoke next.

"Actually, Ranger will be with you for now on. He knew when you were going to have a seizure, and I had already told Burkhalter that he was staying with you for now on." The older man watched the younger raise a brow at this.

"So he is staying with me at all times?" He asked. Klink nodded his head.

"Ja he is, and will be sleeping in here with you… maybe not in the bed, but in his own little bed; beside ours." As Klink spoke; Hogan smiled wider.

"So I do get a dog after all." He said with a grin. Klink nodded his head at this; as Ranger rolled back over onto his stomach, and started to pant.

"Ja, you do." Just then they all heard a stomach growl. All the men in the room looked at each other; then at the dog on the bed.

"Was that you?" Hogan asked Ranger. Ranger stopped panting, and looked at him with his head turned to one side.

"Are you hungry?" Hogan asked his new dog. Ranger's ears moved upwards slightly, and his tail started to wag.

"Alright, come on Ranger; I will feed you." Said Klink as he walked toward the door. Ranger looked at Hogan who waved his hand.

"Go on, go eat." Ranger moved and jumped down off of the bed, and followed Klink toward the kitchen. After Klink and Ranger was out of the room; Hochstetter started to tell his new friend; what Mary had told him. When Hogan heard this; his heart sank.

"Damn.. What are we going to do?" He asked. The Major walked over, and sat on the edge of the bed.

"Well Mary said that Bishop Tobias; is going to write the Pope, and see if he can send a dispensation for this. We should hear something back before next Sunday." He told him. Hogan nodded his head, and said.

"I hope so. Mary is looking forward to this, and I know so are all of us." Hochstetter went to speak, but stopped when Ranger walked into the room with his bowl in his mouth. Klink walked in after his loves dog, and looked at the two men. As Ranger sat his bowl down; Klink spoke.

"I think he wanted to eat in here with you." He told them. Hogan smiled and laughed lightly.

"I think your right." Hogan and Klink looked at the Major again when he spoke again.

"I wanted to ask the two of you something, and it does involve Mary." Both Colonel's raised a brow at the Gestapo Major.

"What is it?" Asked Hogan.

"You need to buy something for yourself, and not for everyone else." Said Newkirk as he followed his love around in the jewelry store. Mary smiled as she looked at a pair of earrings. She had bought Hilda, Regina, Berta, and Gertrude some earrings, and was now looking at a pair of rose gold dangle earrings. The earrings were made up of rose gold with a hexagon stud; that had diamonds on the outside, but a upside down pear shaped ruby within. Below the hexagon stud was one small circle within a slightly larger circle; both were made up of the rose gold and diamonds. The main part of the earrings; were a large pear shaped pearl, and had the rose gold with diamonds around the pear shaped gemstone. Within the earrings; at the bottom; was a ruby in a pear shape, and it also had the metal and the diamonds around it. Newkirk smiled when he saw his love looking at the earrings.

"You should get them." He told her. Mary turned her head to look at her love. The woman that had helped her last Sunday; walked over to them.

"I will take these too." Said Mary with a smile. The woman pulled out the earrings, and started to wrap them up in a pink paper.

"Not the pink please; I can't look at that color.. Something bad happened not too long ago, and I was wearing pink at the time." Mary looked at the woman in the eyes, and tried not to look down at the pink paper.

"Oh alright; I will wrap the box in a…" The woman thought back on what the Gestapo Major had said a few days ago. 'No not pink. My niece can't stand the color pink. Something happened not too long ago, and she was wearing pink at the time, and I don't want her to get upset.' The woman smiled when she remembered what color of paper; she had used for the Major.

"How about a light green color?" She asked. Mary smiled wide, and nodded her head.

"Oh yes please; green is my favorite color.. Danke…" Said Mary, but waited for the woman to say her name. As the woman pulled out the green paper and wrapped the small box; she spoke.

"My name is Ava Eckstein."

"Danke Ava." Said Mary again. As Ava wrapped the box; she thought to herself. 'This must be the young woman that the Major was talking about. They were in here last Sunday, and she hadn't called him Onkel then… So what changed?' Ava's eyes watched Mary walk over toward the men's jewelry, and look at the rings, and other things within the case. Ava's eyes glanced at the young man that was with this young woman. 'He must be the young man; that the Major was also talking about… He is going to ask her to marry him; with the ring that the Major is paying for.' Ava smiled to herself as she sat the wrapped box with the others.

"I want to get Uncle something, but I don't know what." Mary told her love who walked up beside her.

"Well you could get him a watch, or a ring." He told her. With a sigh; Mary shook her head.

"I don't know." Her eyes glanced over, and saw a ring that had a wolf inside of it. Another woman that worked in the store walked over to them, and stood near the case. Mary looked up at the woman and asked.

"I have never seen a ring like that before. What kind of ring is it?" She asked the woman.

"That is a wolf sealing ring. You pour the sealing wax on whatever paper; then you would place the ring over it, and when you pull up; the wolf would be raised. They used to use them a long time ago; to seal letters, or it was an easier way to sign a paper." Said the co-owner. Mary smiled wide at hearing this.

"Oh how wonderful; I will take it. I'm sure that Uncle would love it." Newkirk smiled at his love.

"I'm sure that he will… Are you going to get Ritter something too?" He asked her. Mary smiled wide at what her love had said.

"I was thinking about it, but I didn't know if you would be alright with me buying him a gift." Newkirk smiled at his love.

"I don't mind, and besides; I say that he will be getting you a gift for your birthday." With that said; Mary looked over the men's jewelry again. Her eyes spotted a silver ring. The top of the ring was in the shape of a shield; that had a gold outline around the top. In the inside of the ring was many small red ruby's, but within the center of the ring was a gold eagle holding a silver sword; with a small ruby on top of the sword.

"Do you think Levi would like that one?" Mary asked her love. Newkirk leaned over and looked at the ring.

"I think he would like that." He told her with a smile. Mary glanced at the woman, and smiled. As the woman took the ring; Mary spoke to her Huntsman again.

"Peter, did you see the ring with the arrows in it?" She asked him. Newkirk looked over the rings, and saw the one that his love was talking about.

"I do now.. That one is nice." He told her; then saw the look in her eyes. He pointed a finger at her, and said.

"No Snow." With that said; he turned around to look at the two guards that had walked in with them. Mary looked up at the woman, and winked at her. The woman took out the silver ring; that had two castle towers on each side of the ring, and in the middle of the ring was three arrows. Mary mouthed out to the woman to use the blue paper for her loves gift. The woman nodded her head, but asked her.

"What color paper do you want to use on your friends ring?" Mary smiled and told her.

"Red if you have it… Danke for helping…" Mary now waited for this woman to tell her; her name.

"Carina Hertz. I am a co-owner of this store. Ava is the main owner." Said Carina; as she wrapped the boxes up. As Mary walked over to the front desk; she looked around. Carina saw this, and raised a brow; as she finished wrapping both ring boxes.

"Is there something else you are looking for?" She asked her.

"Yes, I was wondering if you had any jewelry for ones hair, or headdresses?.. Like something of Medieval times. Well not like that, but like it.. I am not making any sense am I?" Mary asked the woman with a laugh. Carina nodded her head, and laughed.

"No, I know what you mean. But we don't have anything like that here.."

"But there is a store a few buildings up; that does. They have hair combs that you can wear, and some jewelry that you can put in your hair. They have the headdresses that you are talking about. They even have crowns and tiaras there too." Said Ava with a smile. Both women watched the younger woman smile wide.

"Oh god." Newkirk looked back; when he heard Bischof wine out. He smiled to himself; then looked back at his love.

"Well, how about we go there next?" He asked his love. Mary smiled wide, and nodded her head. With a chuckle; Newkirk reached over, and lifted his loves hand, and kissed the back of her hand. Mary smiled a loving smile; when her love did this. The women watched the two in love, and both thought to themselves. 'They are so in love with each other.' Carina placed all that the young woman had bought into large bags; as Mary handed the money over to Ava. Mary went to take the bags, but stopped when Habicht and Bischof walked over, and took the bags from her. Mary smiled and thanked them. As the four walked out of the store; Habicht said that he would go, and put the bags into the back of the truck. As he walked away; Mary smiled, and said.

"I'll be right back; I forgot which way Ava said to go." Mary turned around and walked back into the store. Newkirk raised a brow at his loves words, and knew that she didn't forget. 'Why is she going back into the store?' He asked himself. Newkirk was brought out of his thoughts when Habicht walked back to Newkirk and Bischof.

"Where is Lady Mary?" He asked.

"She went back into the store; to ask the woman which way to the other store is." Said Bischof as he lit up a cigarette. Newkirk glanced over when the guard handed him one as well.

"Danke." Said the English Corporal; as he took the cigarette. After awhile Mary walked back out of the store, and walked up to the three men that were waiting on her. The three men looked at her; when she held up two ring boxes in front of the two guards. Newkirk smiled wide, and now knew why his love had went back into the store.

"What are these, and who are they for?" Asked Bischof. Mary smiled at both of them, and replied.

"They are for the both of you." Both of the guards eyes widen at this news.

"What?" Asked Habicht as he took the ring box. As he opened the ring box that was meant for him; Bischof took the other ring box. Both men were shocked to see what kind of rings were inside. Habicht's had a 'H' on it, and Bischof's had a 'J' on his.

"The 'H' is for Hans, and the 'J' is for Julianisch." Mary said with a large smile.

"I knew you went into the store to buy something else." Said Newkirk with a smile; as he blew out the smoke of his cigarette. Mary looked over toward him with the large smile on her lips.

"Well I couldn't buy them something with them in the store; so I had to wait until we all came out for me to buy them something." Mary looked over toward the two guards, and smiled.

"Do you like them?" She asked them.

"Yes I do." Said Bischof as he took the ring out, and placed it on his right pointer finger.

"Danke Lady Mary." Said Habicht as he placed his ring on his left pointer finger.

"You are both welcome." Mary said with another large smile.

"Well how about we go to the other store; then go eat?" Asked Newkirk. Mary smiled at her love, and nodded her head.

"Yes let's." She said, and grabbed him by the hand. Newkirk smiled and let his love pull him toward the new store. As they walked toward the new store; Habicht looked at the ring that was bought just for him. Bischof looked up from his ring, and looked at the two in front of him. He smiled wide as he looked at the two; then he asked the young woman a question.

"Lady Mary? What is that book about that you love so much?" Mary glanced behind her. With a smile; she told him what the book was about.

"The book is about the Huntsman protecting Snow White from The Evil Queen. He trains her to fight, and he musters up an army; to be able to take down The Evil Queen…"

"Do they get married first, or after they take her down?" Asked Newkirk wanting to know. Mary looked at her love and smiled at him.

"They get married afterwards… Why?" She asked him; as they stopped in front of the door to the new store.

"Just wondering." He said as he opened the door for her, and added.

"After you.." Mary smiled and walked in, but looked back as she heard her love add.

"Your Majesty." His eyes watched his love turn around, and looked at him with narrowed eyes. Newkirk moved both of his eyebrows up and down; when he saw the look she was giving him.

"Your such a cheeky bastard." Said Mary as she turned back around; to see a young boy sitting on the floor next to one of the cases; that was near the back of the store. Mary smiled at the boy who was looking at her with widen eyes.

"Can you tell your Mutter or Vater that they have customer's?" She asked him. The young boy nodded his head, and quickly got up, and ran into the back of the store.

"He's so cute." Said Mary as she walked over to one of the cases, and started to look at the crowns that were inside the case. Newkirk walked over, and looked at them as well.

"You would look beautiful in all of these; you know that." He told her with a large smile. Mary looked up at her love and smiled. Just then they heard the little boy run back into the room. They all looked over, and saw him pulling his mother's hand.

"Look Mama; it's a Queen!" He told her. When Mary heard the little boy say this; she looked over toward Newkirk; who looked down at her, and smiled a lopsided smile.

"Oops." Was all her love said. Habicht and Bischof laughed lightly at this. Mary looked back over toward the woman.

"I'm so sorry.. My sweetheart was being funny; I'm not a Queen of any kind." Mary told the woman; as she waved her hands in front of herself. The owner of the store went to speak, but her son spoke first.

"But you are a Queen; your dressed like the one in my story book." He said as he let go of his mother's hand, and took two steps toward the older woman in front of him.

"Wilhelm! Don't bother the young woman." His mother yelled and told him. The little boy frowned and went to walk away, but Mary stopped him.

"Your not bothering me sweetheart; now who in your storybook do I look like?" She asked him. The smile that came to the little boy's face; made Newkirk smile wide at his love. He watched as his love tucked the bottom of her dress against her legs; as she got on her knees. The small boy ran over with his storybook.

"You look like this one." He said as he opened the book, and pointed to the woman on the page. Newkirk looked at the page of the book, and saw who the young boy was pointing at. He started to chuckle lightly; then turned his head. Mary heard her love chuckling behind her, and turned her head toward him. Newkirk smiled wide at his love who was looking at him with one narrowed brow, and the other normal. Her eyes were narrowed, but her lips were parted.

"Really?" She asked him. Newkirk did a quick smile, and moved to the side of his love. Bischof and Habicht moved over toward Newkirk; to see who the young boy was pointing to.

"Which one is he pointing at?" Asked Habicht to Bischof. They both couldn't see the book, but soon found out which princess it was; when Newkirk spoke to the boy.

"You know; Mary's nickname is Snow, and her father calls her that because she looks like Snow White." As he spoke; Newkirk knelt down to one knee, and placed his left arm on his knee. The boy's eyes lit up at this news.

"Then you are Snow White!" He said in a happy voice. Mary smiled wide at the small boy.

"Well my nickname maybe Snow, but I am not her… But if you want to call me Snow; you can. Everyone else does." The young boy's mother smiled at the young woman that was talking to her son.

"Okay I will call you Snow." He said with a big smile. Mary smiled at the boy, and told him.

"Your name is Wilhelm; isn't it?" She asked him. The boy nodded his head.

"Ja it is." He told her.

"My Vater, the Kommandant of Stalag 13.. His name is Wilhelm too. He is like a second father to me." Mary told the young boy.

"Really, that's amazing." Mary smiled at him; then smiled wider at what the young boy said next.

"If you are Snow White; you will need a crown." Still smiling at the boy; Mary told him.

"That's why I'm here."

"I have many different styles; that you can choose from." The little boy's mother finally spoke.

"Oh I already looked at some of them.." Mary looked to the side and asked the small child.

"Would you help me find the right ones for me and my Huntsman. "Newkirk looked over at his love with narrow brows.

"I don't need a crown." He told her, but Wilhelm spoke up before Mary could.

"But you do need one too; Snow's King can't not have a crown." At hearing this; Mary smiled wide at her love.

"See; you have to have one. If I have crowns and tiaras; then you have to have crowns too." She told him with a large grin. The English Corporal narrowed his eyes at his love; who's grin turned into a larger one.

"Now come my King; let's pick us out some crowns." Said Mary as she stood up. Wilhelm walked with Mary and Newkirk as they looked at the cases.

"I think you need a red one, a blue one, a green one, and a…" Started Wilhelm. His mother looked at him and said.

"Wilhelm, don't push this nice lady into buying all of them." She told her son with a smile. The little boy frown some, but smiled wide when Mary said.

"I will take all of them." The woman's eyes widen at the young woman's words.

"All of them?" She asked her. Mary nodded her head.

"Ja all of them, and I will pay you the full price for each one of them too." Mary told her with a large smile. The woman smiled wide at this news.

"Oh Danke; I have not sold any for so long, and this will help us out so much…"

"Ja it will; we had to get food from the church yesterday." Said the little boy.

"Wilhelm! You don't tell people that." His mother raised her voice at him. Mary stepped forward toward the woman.

"What is your name?" At first the woman was taken aback by the question.

"My name is Flora Krone." Mary smiled then asked.

"You got food from the church; right?" Flora nodded her head at the question; that the young woman knew the answer to.

"Ja we did.. Why?" She asked; then was shocked at what the young woman said next.

"Oh I do hope that you like what I had cooked?" The woman looked at Mary with a raised brow; then over toward Habicht when he spoke next.

"Lady Mary is the one that made all the food to give to the churches yesterday. She cooked all day Saturday; then when they had came out to get the food; everyone was shocked to see just how much she had made. She is a wunderbar cook and baker." He told the woman. Flora smiled as tears came to her eyes.

"You cooked all that food… for everyone in Germany?" She asked her. Mary nodded her head, and smiled a loving smile.

"Yes I did. I wanted to help those that needed it. I know what it was like to go to bed without food in your stomach, and I couldn't sleep well at night; knowing that there was so many that was doing the same. See my mother was not very kind to me, and my step father hurt me in so many ways. They both tried to kill me, but I stayed strong. I wanted to help those that needed the help…"

"Wow you had a Evil Queen mutter and an Evil Step King… Snow White never had that problem." Said Wilhelm. The little boy looked at his mother; who was looking at him with widen eyes. She was about to yell at him, but raised a brow when she heard someone laughing.

"No; she didn't." Laughed Mary. Hearing his love's laugh; Newkirk chuckled lightly. Once Mary had stopped laughing; she finished what she was saying before.

"Peter and I will be making clothes here soon to give to the churches as well. " When Mary said this; Newkirk smiled and nodded his head; when the slightly older woman looked at him.

"Ja we will, and if someone would want something very special… then he might want to tell us now." As Newkirk spoke; he glanced over at the young boy. The little boy smiled wide, and ran over to grab another book that was on the floor. As Wilhelm flipped threw the pages; Newkirk walked over to him. Mary smiled at her love; then asked the little boys mother a question.

"How old is Wilhelm?" Flora looked at the young woman and told her.

"He is four… and I am sorry that he is speaking out of turn." Mary smiled at the woman and replied.

"Oh your son is fine. He seems to be a sweet boy.. He looks a lot like you, but I say he got the blue eyes from his father?" Mary asked.

"Ja he did. His father was killed not too long ago in the war." At hearing this; Mary frowned slightly.

"I'm so sorry for your loss." Flora smiled a sadden smile.

"I will not lie; it has been hard for the past few weeks. I don't know if I can live without my Hans or not. We met five years ago and fell for each other. Then when he had to go fight; it pained me to see him go. Wilhelm was only a new born at the time, and he had never seen his father." As the two women talked in a low voice; Wilhelm found what he was looking for.

"Could you make me this one?" He asked as he glanced over toward the Englishman beside him. Newkirk moved closer, and looked at the book. He smiled as he saw a painting of a king.

"You want me to make an outfit; like King Henry the eights famous portrait?" The young boy nodded his head quickly. At hearing this Flora and Mary looked over at the two.

"Now Wilhelm, you know that you can't wear something that will anger the Gestapo. They may think that we are traders, and kill us." Said the boys mother.

"Oh don't worry; I can tell my Onkel that Wilhelm will be wearing something that my gold heart made him." Said Mary with a smile. The woman looked over at Mary with a raised brow.

"Your Onkel?" She asked. Mary nodded her head.

"Yes Major Hochstetter of the Gestapo. He is to be my god father, but I call him my Onkel." She said with a small giggle.

"So Herr Major.. will not take us in; if you tell him this?" She asked again. Mary nodded her head.

"Ja, you and your son will be alright… But.." The woman's eyes widen when Mary didn't finish what she was going to say.

"But you didn't tell me if you like the food that I made? Oh I hope that both you and your son liked the food.. I tried to make things that would be very good, and would last a long time." Flora saw the worry in Mary's eyes. 'She is worried that we didn't like the food.' With a wide smile; she told the nice young woman.

"Both Wilhelm and myself loved the food." She told her. Mary smiled wide at this news; then something caught her eye that was behind her hopefully new friend.

"Are those bags for sale too?" She asked. Flora turned around and looked at the bags.

"Ja they are; do you want them too?" She asked.

"Oh yes please." Mary said with a wide smile; knowing who she was going to give them to.

"Oh, and I am glad that you both liked the food." Mary said with a sweet smile. Flora smiled at the young woman; than asked what all did this beautiful young woman what all she wanted to buy next. Newkirk smiled as he walked up to his love. 'You are a Queen to me.' He thought to himself.

It had been a few hours since Hogan had last woke up. Hochstetter had told Klink that he would stay either in the living room, or in the bedroom; to look after Hogan. Klink had nodded his head, and walked out of the small house. As he made his way back to the Kommandantur; Klink looked over and saw the men at work on the barn. Smiling to himself; Klink then walked into the small building. Walking into his office; Klink took off his hat, and walked over to his desk. Hilda was in the other room; going threw some papers, and Regina had went to the Mess Hall to get her and her daughter something to eat. As the older Colonel started to look threw the paper's to see where he had left off; a knock came from his office door.

"Come in." He said as he signed the paper that was in front of him. The door opened and Kinch walked into the inner office. The older Colonel looked up at the younger American Sergeant.

"Kommandant, I was wondering if I could use some of the metals in the motor pool for Mary's birthday gift?" He asked the older man. Klink looked up and smiled wide.

"I don't see no problem with that." The older man said as he leaned back into his chair; then added something that caught the young man off guard.

"Do you know why I had asked Fräulein Regina to come here, and work here with Hilda?" He asked the young American Sergeant. Kinch shook his head no.

"I knew that you were taking your time; on fixing her car. Hogan and I both saw the look that you both gave each other before, and I had asked her to come here and work with me and her daughter; so that you could spend time with her. But both of you will have to be careful not to get caught though. Fräulein Regina was very happy when I had asked her to come work. I know that she wanted to spend time with you as well, and that she had not worked for a long time. She was living off the money that Hilda was making here. But I do hope that both you and Fräulein Regina hit it off very well, and who knows.. Later on… get married?" Klink smiled when he saw a sheepish smile come to the younger man's face.

"Thank you Kommandant for asking Regina to work here, and it's true. I was taking my time fixing her car. I do like her very much, and she is the first woman to ever see me as well… me and not the color of my skin. I have went threw that before… and.. I don't want to go threw that again." As Kinch spoke; he remembered the young girl that he had once had a crush on when he was younger.

"Fräulein Regina is like myself. I see a man, or woman for who they really are. I don't care about skin color, and neither does Fräulein Regina.. When you first came here; I saw a young American Sergeant; not a man of color. I think that's one of the things that Robert loves about me; is that I get to know a person; before I judge on what kind of person they are. I don't see color, nor uniform; I listen to the way they speak, and act in different situations. I have met some wonderful people; that other's would see as different, or who need to be outcasted. I have befriended them, and found out that they are better people; than the one's that walk around with blinders on. You are a good friend to Robert, Peter, and the others. And your a great big brother to Mary as well… and…" Kinch was happy to hear that Klink had never seen him like so many others had done in the past. And he was glad to know that he was a good friend to his friends. But when Klink said that he was a great big brother to Mary; Kinch smiled wide, but his smile fell when the older man didn't finish what he was going to say.

"And what?" He asked the man who was now leaning up in his chair.

"And you will be a great uncle to Mary's and Peter's children when they have them." Klink said with a smile. Kinch smiled wide to where he showed his teeth.

"You will be a good grandfather to them as well." Klink smiled at this; then moved his hand out to tell the younger man to sit down. Kinch moved over to the chair, and sat down in a chair that was in front of the older man's desk.

"My friend; the man that came here earlier. He told me what all happened with Robert and Hochstetter at the train station." The older German Colonel told the young American Sergeant what had happened that night. At the end of the little story; Klink then said.

"Hochstetter is staying with Robert at the house as we speak." When the older man was speaking; Kinch couldn't believe what he was hearing. Then when the older Colonel had gotten to the end; Kinch had raised a brow.

"Hochstetter is staying at the house with Colonel Hogan?" He asked him. Klink nodded his head at this.

"Yes he is. I don't know if the Major will move against Robert; or not. If he does turn on Robert; I will kill the Major, and whoever else is with him." Kinch backed up in his chair, and looked at the older man. He knew that Klink was telling the truth, and will do what he said that he would.

"How about this; I will go back to the barracks and tell one of the guys to sit, and watch the phone lines to see if Hochstetter makes a call out of camp. If he does I will tell whoever to go to you, or me and to tell us what was said." Said Kinch as he got out of the chair. Klink nodded his head, and sat up in his chair.

"That's a good idea. I want to know what the Major will do with the knowledge of Robert having seizures. He had walked into the living room while I was talking to General Burkhalter." Kinch narrowed his brows together. Klink saw this, and added.

"I told him that the dog that took Robert to the ground; was to stay with him for now on. Ranger can warn Robert, or whoever is around our witty fox; that he is going to have a seizure… but Hochstetter walked in when I was telling Burkhalter about it. Robert had asked me not to let Hochstetter know that he had them, but now…"

"But now Hochstetter knows, and you want to know what he will do with this information." Said Kinch as he finished for the older man. Klink nodded his head.

"That's right. I want to know if Hochstetter will run with this.. Or if he will keep it to himself, or may even help Robert off and on with it… I still don't fully trust Hochstetter. He could find out so many things about all of us, and act like he is our friend. He could be just befriending all of us; to kill us later on… I know that I am being overprotective with this, but… I love Robert very much; as well as Mary and Peter, and I care for all of you as well. I just don't want this to go too far is all. Hochstetter is a clever man, and dangerous… I want to stop him before he can make his move, and cause all kinds of hell for all of us here." Kinch nodded his head, and knew what the older man was talking about.

"I understand, and I will go and tell a Private by the name of Pool; to sit by the phone, and if the Major does make a call; he will come here and tell you what it's about." Klink nodded his head, and watched the young man walk out of his office. As Kinch was leaving the inner office; the front door opened, and Regina walked in. In her hands was two plates of food. Kinch quickly walked over, and took the two plates from her hands; which cause Regina to smile.

"Danke James." She thanked him.

"Your welcome Regina. I bet you and Hilda miss Mary cooking for you." Stated Kinch. Regina nodded her head at this statement.

"Ja we do, but we are big girls and can get our own food." As Regina spoke she walked around the man, and over toward her daughter's desk. Regina moved the papers on the desk, and made room for the plates. Once a place was cleared; Kinch walked over, and placed the plates on the desk. Hilda walked out of the back room, and saw her mother with the young Sergeant. She smiled to herself when she saw Kinch kiss her mother on the lips; then tell her that he had to go talk to one of the POWs. Regina smiled wide at the kiss; then smiled wider when Kinch stole another kiss before walking out. Regina turned back around, and saw her daughter smiling at her.

"You really like him." Said Hilda to her mother.

"I do… and…" Hilda raised a brow at her mother.

"And what?" She asked.

"He is nice to look at; when he is coming and going.. He has a perfect backside." Hilda made a face at her mother's words. Regina laughed at the look on her daughter's face.

Mary and Newkirk walked into the fresh market. They had ate lunch at the same place as last Sunday; that Mary and her Uncle, and her two new friends ate at. Mary had told Newkirk; that this was like their second date. Newkirk had smiled wide at this, and told her; that this was their second date. They had ate their food, and Mary had paid for hers and her loves lunch; as well as Habicht and Bischof's lunch. The two German guards sat at a different table than the two in love. After lunch; Mary said that she wanted to go to the markets next. Newkirk had raised a brow at the two guards; when they sighed deeply. Now Newkirk looked over near the door of the fresh market, and saw their two new friend standing to the side with two large baskets in hand. He raised a brow again; then looked over toward where his love had been standing. When he didn't see her; Newkirk looked around, and spotted his love standing at the berries with a basket in hand. Newkirk made his way over to his love, and took the basket from her. Mary had smiled at her love; then did what she had done last Sunday. She picked up the fruits and the vegetables; then would place them in the baskets that someone would hold for her. As Newkirk took his full basket up to the front; Habicht had stepped forward with the basket he was holding. Newkirk now knew why both men didn't like this part of shopping with Mary. 'I knew that she would buy a lot; like she had at the fabric store and the other store, but I didn't know that she would shop like this at the markets.' Newkirk thought to himself. Soon after an hour of shopping at the fresh market; Newkirk, Habicht, and Bischof were all out of breath; from taking the heavy baskets up front. As all the Corporal's caught their breath; Mary paid Max who owned the fresh market; for the food that she was buying. She then asked him a question about one of the fruits that she had bought last Sunday. Max told her what to listen, and look for; when the fruit was ripe. Mary thanked Max; then looked over toward her love and her two new friends with a large smile.

"Now over to the meat markets." She said with a smile. Newkirk smiled at his love; then looked over toward the two guards as they both wined out.

"Oh no." Said Habicht with a wine.

"I can't feel my arms." Wined out Bischof.

The four made their way over to the meat market; as the other guards started to put what Mary had bought in the back of the truck. Mary walked into the meat market, and smiled wide. She walked over toward the man that was selling the beef, and told the man what she wanted. Mary had thanked him for the beef cuts; then asked for his name. The man told her his name, and Mary thanked him again. She then walked over to the man; that was selling the chicken, and did the same. With a smile; Mary then made her way over toward the seafood, and did the same as before. The man wrapped everything up for her, and handed it to her. She had used so much of the food that she had bought last Sunday for the churches; that she had to get more to cook for the whole camp, and whoever was to visit the camp. Soon they were done shopping, and Mary looked over toward her love, and her two new friends. She giggled to herself; as she saw that they were all tired, and were ready to go home.

"Alright boys let's go back to the camp." When Mary said this; all of the men looked up at her with tired smiles. This time Mary laughed, and walked to the car.

Down in the tunnels a Private by the name of Pool; watched the switch board to Klink's private quarters. When a light came on the switch board; the young man grabbed the headset, and listened to what the Major was telling the other person on the other line. After the call was over; the Private ran over to the ladder and climbed up. He made his way over to the Kommandantur. Klink had just finished the last of the second group of papers on his desk, and was about to start on the last stack; when the older man looked up as the door to his office was opened.

"Sir, Major Hochstetter just made a call to Gestapo HQ." Said the young man out of breath. Klink stood up, and walked around his desk as he spoke.

"What did he say?" He asked.

"He called a Captain Ritter, and told him that he was not coming into the office today; that he had came here to see Lady Mary. Then the Captain told him that he had wondered why he had not came back from lunch. Then he told the Major that he would handle things at their HQ today… and to tell Mary and Newkirk that he will be over here in a few hours."

"That's all he said?" Asked Klink. The young man shook his head.

"No Sir; that's not all that the Major had said. The Major had asked the Captain if he could get some books from his office, and go to his appartement and to bring him some clothes, and a jacket that Lady Mary had made him. Then said to bring the books as well as some of his clothes to the camp for him." Now Klink raised a brow.

"Some clothes? Did he tell the Captain why or no?" He asked the young man in front of him. Pool once again nodded his head.

"Yes Sir he did. He told him that he was going to stay the night; that he wanted to ask Lady Mary about going with him to a family party in his home town. And that he wanted to talk to her about the books too, but… the Captain asked the Major; if he had asked Mary about…" Klink stepped closer toward the younger man.

"And what?" Asked Klink.

"Well Sir, the Captain asked the Major if he was going to ask Lady Mary about the dead baby that those in London found in the attic; that she was staying in, and the Major said that he had forgot too, but he really doesn't know if he should or not." Klink's eyes widen at hearing this.

"Dead baby? What dead baby?" He asked again. The Private shook his head and said.

"I don't know Sir, but that's what was said." Klink stepped back from the young man; then nodded his head.

"Alright thank you Private, and you did good work." The young man nodded his head, and left the room. Klink walked over to the coat rack, and grabbed his hat. He then left his office, and made his way to the small family home. Once inside his little family home; the older man walked into his and his loves bedroom, and found the Major sitting in the chair reading a book. His eyes glanced over toward his love; who was now asleep again, and Ranger laying next to him on the bed. Turning his head again; Klink asked the Major.

"What are you reading?" Asked Klink as he walked over to check on his love more closely.

"I really don't know. I think this is the book that Hogan is writing for Mary.. If so this is dark… very dark. It's like there is four different people talking in this book, but all in his own hand." Klink walked over, and looked at the book; that the Major had held up for him.

"That's one of the books that Laszlo had gave to Robert. He was to write down what he heard his father say in his mind… I guess Robert is writing everything down that comes to his mind. I say he would hear his father, Jason, and Lizzie's voices as well." Hochstetter looked at the older man with large eyes.

"This is what Hogan hears his father, and everyone else say?" He asked him. Klink nodded his head.

"Ja it is. Robert's father was very cruel to him; in away like how Lizzie was to Mary…"

"Ja I remember. Hogan told me about some of it. He told me a lot of the things that his father done to him, and what this Jason did.. But not too much about what this Lizzie had done though." Klink leaned back, and looked at the Major with widen eyes.

"Robert told you about his past?... All of it?" He asked. Hochstetter nodded his head; then said.

"Ja he did… Did he not tell you about his past?" Asked the Major to the older man.

"No he didn't… What all did he tell you?" Asked the older Colonel.

"Well he told me a good bit about what his father had done to him, and somewhat of him being with Mary's mutter; as well as his time with Jason." Now Klink couldn't believe that his love would have told the Major his past so quickly. 'Robert must trust Hochstetter more than what I had thought; to tell him about his past.' Thought the older man to himself.

"Has he not told you about any of those things?" Asked the Major; bringing the older man out of his thoughts.

"Robert told me some of the things. I say that he didn't want to tell me everything; so that I would not get upset over it. I know that he had told a few things to Mary, but not much; just enough for her to know that they were somewhat alike." Hochstetter closed the book, and sat it to the side.

"Well some of the things he told me; it was a good idea for him not to tell you. He had been threw a lot, and so has Mary. I know that you and Robert had read the file that was given to me on Mary's home life with her mutter… I didn't leave anything out of the file, but one thing.."

"What did you leave out?" Asked the older Colonel. Hochstetter stood up, and turned toward the older man.

"The only thing that I had left out of the file; was that those in London had found a skeleton of a newborn baby in a chest; that was in the attic." Klink made a shocked face; although he knew about what the Major was talking about. He raised his hand up, and grabbed the slightly younger man by the arm softly, and moved them into the bathroom. Once in the bathroom, and with the door half way opened; did Klink ask.

"What do you mean that they found a skeleton of a new born baby in a chest?"

"I don't know who's baby it belonged to. It just said that they had found the skeleton in a chest, and the book that this Lizzie had wrote in; didn't say who's child it was. I do want to ask Mary about it, but I will not lie to you Klink… I fear that Mary will say that it was her child." Klink's eyes widen even more. He had not thought on the fact; that this dead child could have belonged to his nonblood daughter.

"I hate to say this Hochstetter, but you are going to have to ask Mary about it… or we could ask Kreizler to ask Mary about it. He will be here soon." The Major raised a brow at the older man's words.

"Why is he coming here?" He asked.

"He's bringing medical books to me. I told him that I wanted to go back to medical school… well I'm going to try to go back. So much has changed since I had last been in school. I really don't know if I can keep up with it this time. I am older, and… I don't know if I can do it this time." Klink confessed to the slightly younger man.

"You can do it… And I say that Mary will want to read them as well. You both can read them together, and help each other." Said the Major with a real smile. Klink smiled at this fact, and knew that the Major was right. Just then there was a knock on the bedroom door. Klink walked out of the bathroom, and opened the door. There he saw Schultz standing at the door.

"Yes Schultz?"

"Your doctor friend is here, and Fräulein Hilda told me to tell you that General Burkhalter and his wife, and sister was coming to the camp. They wanted to see Mary, and to find out what to get her for her birthday." He said with a smile. Klink smiled at his friend.

"Thank you Schultz. Could you ask Kreizler to come to the house, and I will wake Hogan up… well try to."

"Jawohl Herr Kommandant." As the fat Sergeant walked out of the house; Klink turned toward Hochstetter; who had walked out of the bathroom.

"Now for the hell." The Major raised a brow at the older man's words. Klink walked over toward his love, and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Robert… time to wake up." He told him. The only one that woke up was Ranger. The dog looked at Klink, and wagged his tail.

"No." Was all Hogan said, and rolled over. Klink sighed heavy; as Hochstetter stopped himself from laughing.

"Damn it Robert." The older said as he walked over to the other side of the bed.

"Robert get up." He told him again; as he shook his young love.

"Go away." Wined out Hogan in a sleepy voice. Klink narrowed his eyes at his love.

"Damn it Robert." He said again, but this time a little louder. Ranger looked at Klink; then back at Hogan, and stood up on the bed. He walked to the other side of his new master. Ranger laid down to where his nose was at Hogan's face. Both German men smiled wide; when Ranger let out a loud bark. Hogan jumped awake, but was still laying on his side. With a sigh; he asked his new dog.

"Who's side are you on?" Ranger then moved closer, and started to lick Hogan in the face; which made him laugh.

"Well he is a German Shepard after all." Said Hochstetter with a chuckle. Hogan sat up, and looked at his new friend.

"Very funny." He said; then looked over toward his love.

"Why did you wake me up?" He wined out. Klink rolled his eyes at his loves child like voice.

"Because Kreizler is here, and I think you should talk to him while he is here." Hogan looked away with a pout.

"Fine I will."

"Well I'm glad that you want to talk to me too." Came the doctor's voice from the doorway. Kreizler walked into the room, and saw Ranger looking at him.

"What is the…"

"This is Ranger. Hogan had a seizure earlier, and he had warned us to it." Said Klink to his friend. The older man nodded his head; then replied.

"Well that is good. Now if you two will get out; I would like to talk to Hogan alone.. Oh and Wilhelm; the books are in the living room on the table." Klink thanked his friend, and went to walk out of the room, but stopped when he noticed that Hochstetter was not following him. Kreizler noticed this as well, and raised a brow at the man. Hochstetter walked over toward him, and whispered something to the doctor. Klink watched his friend nod his head, and tell the Major that he will bring it up with Mary; when she was alone. Klink looked over toward his love; who was looking at him with a raised brow.

"You will find out later my witty fox." Hogan said nothing, but trusted his love.

"Uncle's here." Said Mary; as she saw the car that belonged to the man that she called Uncle. As Klink's staff car, and the truck drove farther into camp; Mary smiled wide. She couldn't wait to give everyone their gifts; that she had bought them. Newkirk smiled wide at the smile, and love on his loves face. As the car came to a stop; Klink and Hochstetter walked out of the house, and over to the parked car. Mary got out of the car, and smiled at the two German men that was walking toward her.

"Did you two have fun today?" Asked Klink as he looked at his nonblood daughter.

"We did; although I think the boys are tired though." Mary said with a giggle; as she hugged her Vater. While hugging his nonblood daughter back; Klink glanced up, and saw the three Corporal's that got out of the car. Newkirk smiled a tired smile, but walked over toward his love and the man he called father.

"We had a great time, and you should be proud of Mary; she bought a lot of things for herself this time." Mary ended the hug, and looked at her love with narrowed eyes.

"That's good; you need to get somethings for yourself." Mary looked up at the older man.

"But I did get everyone a gift though; like I said I would." She told him. Klink smiled and nodded his head. Mary went to speak to the Major, but looked behind him, and saw Kreizler's car. Hochstetter watched the young woman's eyes widen.

"Why is Laszlo's car here?" She asked with fear in her voice.

"He came by to give me the medical books, and to check on your…" Klink didn't finish what he was going to say; when Mary took off running toward the house; with Newkirk right behind her.

"PAPA!" Yelled Mary. Mary ran into the house, and to her father's room. She hit the door, and opened it at the same time. Her eyes looked at the bed, and saw her father sitting up in the bed; now with widen eyes, and Kreizler sitting on the side of the bed also with widen eyes.

"Mary what is it?" Hogan asked his daughter. Mary ran over toward the bed, and hugged her father.

"What happened?! Are you alright?! Did you get hurt again?! Are you in pain?!" She asked him quickly. Kreizler's eyes went from Mary toward the door; when he heard someone else hit the door. The doctor's eyes watched as Newkirk quickly walked into the room.

"Robert what happened?" He asked him. Hogan smiled at the both of them; who were worried about him.

"I'm fine. I had a seizure earlier…"

"What?!" Mary asked with worry in her voice; as she pulled away from her father. Hogan slowly pulled his worried daughter to him again; then while hugging her tightly; he spoke.

"Mary, I'm fine. It was not that bad, and I was alerted to it beforehand." Hogan looked up at his best friend when he spoke up now.

"How?" Asked Newkirk. Mary looked at the other side of the bed, and saw a guard dog looking at her.

"Ranger alerted me to it beforehand, and got me to the ground." When Hogan said his name; Ranger moved closer toward his new owner and Mary. Mary sat up, and looked at the dog threw watery eyes. Hogan saw the tears in her eyes, and told her.

"Mary honey, I didn't listen to Will; if I would have stayed in bed, and not had been a hard head; then this wouldn't have happened… I did it to myself." He told her. Mary closed her eyes, and the tears dropped onto her cheeks. Ranger moved closer, and licked her tears away. Hogan watched his daughter smile; as the dog licked the worried tears from his daughter's eyes.

"Everything is alright sweet Snow." Mary opened her eyes, and looked over at the door. Klink walked into the bedroom, and stood beside the young man that he called son. Newkirk sighed as the worry left his body. Klink smiled, and hugged the young man with one arm.

"Now you two go and get the stuff out of the truck; while I talk to Kreizler some more, and then we can all sit in the living room." Mary smiled at her father, and nodded her head.

"Alright. I will go and get everyone. I bought everyone a gift each, and I want to give them their gifts." Mary said as she got up from the bed. Hogan smiled as he watched his daughter and his best friend leave the room; as well as his love. Hogan looked back over; when he heard the German doctor's voice.

"So, have you wrote any in the books that I gave you?" He asked him. Hogan nodded his head, and turned his head over to look at the book on the nightstand. Kreizler reached over, and picked up the book. He opened the book, and glanced over it. He read many lines that stuck out the most. He narrowed his eyes as the writing began to change. Hogan saw this and told him.

"I did what you asked me to do. I wrote in the book; of what my father's voice was telling me to do; as well as Jason's and Lizzie's." The older man glanced up at the younger.

"Yes you did, but I notice that.. This is a lot more darker than what I thought it would be. There are even things in here about Wilhelm. I also notice that it looks like your handwriting has changed; from your own to someone else's." Hogan raised a brow at this, and took the book. His eyes glanced over the page that the slightly older man was looking at. With widen eyes, and a raised brow; Hogan saw what the German man was talking about.

"Huh your right. I don't know why I did that. I guess it could be where I heard them talking.. I really don't know… but it's a good thing that I am doing this right? I mean writing this down; has helped a lot." Kreizler nodded his head.

"Yes as long as this is helping you; I don't see nothing wrong with it. But where is the other book at? I'm sure that you have filled the other book up by now?" He asked. Hogan shook his head.

"No I haven't, and the other book is in my office in Barracks 2. I was going to write a book in that one, but I just don't know how to start it. I want to write about Mary, but I just can't find away to start it. What you read in this book; is all I have wrote. I have to tell you; that I don't hear their voice's like I had been, and that if I do; I do write it down, but I don't let it get to me now. Will has helped me threw out all of this, but I have to say; that Major Hochstetter has helped me out a little more. I can tell him things that I can't tell Will, nor Mary… Hell I told him things that I can't even tell Newkirk, nor my own men. Wolfgang has helped a lot." At first Kreizler was happy to hear that Hogan was getting over what all his father and other's had done to him, but when Hogan started to talk about the Major; Kreizler raised a brow.

"The Major has helped you with more than one thing?" He asked the young Colonel. Hogan nodded his head.

"Yeah he has. It's hard to believe; that he and I once hated each other… Now we are good friends now.. And I know why that is too." Hogan said with a smile.

"Really, and why is that?" Asked the doctor. Hogan smiled wide, and said.

"Mary… Hochstetter wants to help her with so much, and wants to be there for her. Next Sunday… hopefully he can become her Godfather and her guardian…"

"The Major can't be both." Kreizler cut in. Hogan smiled then told the older man.

"Mary said that a Bishop Tobias is going to write the Pope, and see if he can send a dispensation; so that he can be both. I love Will very much, and I know that he can take good care of Mary, but… He and I are in the same boat. If something happens to one of us, or to both of us; I need to know that Mary as well as Newkirk; is going to be looked after. Hochstetter loves Mary like a daughter, and she loves him. I know that he can protect the both of them, and when they have kids; he can protect them as well. I am just trying to be a good father to her, and I guess to make up for the time that I have missed. I was worried before; that when Mary got married; that she wouldn't need me anymore, and that I wouldn't get to see her very much. But Wolfgang told me; that I was worrying over nothing. That Mary will always need me, and that I shouldn't have been thinking like that. He was right. I will have to learn how to share Mary; like one would share a toy in the classroom. I can't hold on too tight, nor too loose; that I have to hold on to her, but to let her do anything she wants to do; to let her go where she wants to go, and to be with who she wants to be with… I know it's hard to believe, but Hochstetter has helped me with that, and with other things as well." As Hogan spoke; Kreizler couldn't believe what he was hearing, but was happy that Hogan was talking to someone; that would be able to help him when needed.

"I hope Papa will be alright." Mary said out of worry for her father. She and Newkirk were on the front porch of the house; Klink had walked back toward the truck; to give them two some alone time. While wrapping his arm around his love; Newkirk spoke.

"Robert will be fine. He had warning, and was able to get help right away…"

"But what if I had been here; I could have kept him in bed and this wouldn't have…"

"Snow honey, it would have happened one way or another. Tad and everyone was here for your dad; it wasn't like he was by himself. And now that he has Ranger to stay with him; Colonel Hogan will be alright…" Mary interrupted her love by saying.

"But what if Papa is alone and he has a seizure then? What if no one can find him and he gets hurt.. Peter I don't think I should go out again. I need to stay here and watch after Papa." When Newkirk heard this; he turned his head down toward his love. Stepping to the side, and looking into his loves worried snowy blue eyes; he spoke again.

"Mary, you can't stop living your life because something happened. Ranger will be with your dad for now on; so that means even if your dad is alone with no other person around him; Ranger will be there with him, and could get help. Mary my diamond heart; you can't baby him, nor stop him from living his life. I know that you want him to be safe and healthy, but if you keep him in bed, or in a bubble; you would be hurting him… not helping him. You have to trust the fact that Ranger, or Klink, or someone is going to be around him. I know you care for him, and you love your father very much, but Snow; you can't stop your own life in fear; that something will happen to someone you love. You have to have faith, and believe that god is looking out for your loved ones, and yourself." After Newkirk finished speaking; Mary looked up into his blue flamed eyes. She knew that her love was right, but she was still scared that her father would get hurt, or get killed without her there. Closing her eyes; Mary lowered her head.

"Your right, and I know that Ranger, or Vater will be with Papa… But I still worry for him… Papa is hard headed at times, and I don't want him to get hurt even more.."

"Your hard headed at times too." Mary slowly moved her head upwards to look at her love. Newkirk smiled down at her with a large smile on his lips.

"Where do you think I got it from." She told him with also a large smile. Newkirk leaned down, and kissed his love on the lips. Mary smiled in the kiss. After the kiss broke; both walked to the truck as some of the guards unloaded what Mary had bought. Mary was smiling wide when she saw Bischof and Habicht get out the dress mannequins.

"You got yourself dress mannequins?" Asked Newkirk with a raised brow. He looked over toward his love when he heard her giggle.

"Well I got them for us. We both can use them to make clothes for the churches, and for each other. I got two men's, women's, and one child mannequins." Newkirk smiled wide at his love.

"Thank you. Now I can make you more dresses." He told her with a large smile. Mary rolled her eyes; then looked over when she saw Kreizler walking toward her.

"Is Papa alright?" She asked him. The older man nodded his head.

"Ja he is.. Mary, I was wondering if you would like to walk with me for a bit. I would like to talk to you alone… nothing is wrong; just a little talk like we had in the sick bay." Mary nodded her head; then looked over toward her love.

"I will make sure that everything finds a place, and that the gifts are taken to the house." Mary smiled wide at her love, and was happy that he knew what she was going to ask of him.

"Thank you gold heart." Newkirk smiled, and looked over when a guard walked up to him; to ask him about the food Mary had bought. Mary turned toward the German doctor.

"Shall we." She said, and took the doctor's arm; that he had held out for her. Both started to walk within the camp, but not too far from the truck, but far enough for no one to hear them.

"What did you want to talk about?" She asked him.

"Well, I wanted to know how you have been. I know that last time we had talked; it had been a good while ago, and I just wanted to know if there was anything you wanted to tell me." Said Kreizler with a smile.

"Well so much has been going on; Peter is feeling better, and he can lift things, and carry me around." Kreizler raised a brow at this.

"What?" He asked. Mary giggled; then told him.

"Peter and I cleaned house a few days ago, and wash the clothes and the bedding. I have to say that I am happy that he had helped me. The bedding was a lot more heavier than what I thought they would be. Then I pretended to fall off a chair, and he caught me." Mary giggled as she remembered. The older man chuckled; then asked.

"What else has been going on?" Mary smiled, and told him about the Major buying her the jewelry last Sunday, and how much fun she had with him, and Bischof, and Habicht.

"Major Hochstetter.. bought you jewelry?" He asked her. Mary nodded her head.

"Ja he did. He said that he had bought them for me, because he knew that I wouldn't buy them for myself. I have to admit; that I do like spending time with him. Papa had asked Uncle if he would like to become my godfather and my guardian.."

"Yes I remember your father telling me that… Do you want the Major to become your…"

"Oh yes I do!" Mary quickly interrupted the older man. The older man watched as Mary's eyes widen some; then she added.

"I'm sorry… I didn't mean to interrupt you.. I am just happy is all. I went from having no one; to having so many in my life." Mary said at first with a sheepish smile; then the smile turned into a happy one.

"It's alright; I can see that you care for the Major very much." He told her.

"I do; Herr Major Hochstetter is a very smart man, and he is very nice to me, and I do like spending time with him. He and my father have become very good friends…"

"Yes your father had told me that. It's odd that they would go from hating each other; to getting along so well. In your father's talk with me; he had called him his new friend. It's odd that the Major is acting so differently now." As Kreizler spoke with a puzzled look on his face; Mary started to worry; that the German doctor would find out; that Hochstetter had switched sides. Her eyes glanced over to see the Major speaking to her love.

"I think that Herr Major is only being nice to Papa, and everyone here for me. I know that he really cares from me, and that I love and care for everyone here…" Kreizler stopped walking, and looked at Mary with a raised brow. Mary turned to look at the older man.

"Mary, if the Major has changed sides, and is working with the allies.. I don't care. I see this war just like how Wilhelm sees it… this is a war that is doing nothing for anyone; just hurting both sides. This is a war for a man; that wants all eyes on him… If Major Hochstetter has switched sides; then that is on him; not me. I really don't care, but I am glad that you have so many around you that care and love you very much." Mary smiled wide as the older doctor spoke.

"I am glad that you see this war the same as Vater does." The older smiled wide at the younger woman, and told her the truth.

"With all honesty; there's nothing for me to gain from this war." Mary raised a brow at this.

"What?" Kreizler smiled wide, and told the young woman.

"I will be a doctor no matter which side wins. I help all that comes to the hospital, or to my office. I don't care who they are; as long as I get to do what I love, and that is to help others. My son wants to be a doctor as well…"

"You have a son? What's his name?" Mary asked with a large smile.

"His name is Levi; he is seventeen years old, and is in medical school now." Mary smiled at the older man.

"I would like to meet him one day."

"I'm sure that I can bring him out here to meet you." Said Kreizler with a smile; then thought on what the Major had asked of him.

"Mary… there is something that I want to ask you; the Major had asked me to do it, because he didn't want to upset you.. or see you have a bad flashback." Mary once again raised a brow.

"What is it?" She asked; not knowing if she wanted to know, or not.

"I am not going to go around in circles to get the answer; I am going to ask you a hard question though… You ready?" The doctor asked the young woman. Mary nodded her head, and prepared herself for the question.

"Yes." She said; still not sure about the question about to be asked.

"Alright, the Major told me that a… .. a skeleton of a baby was found in the attic.. Which was your room… was the child yours, or your mother's?" As the doctor went to ask the question; panic started to flood his body to where he stopped walking. Kreizler feared that Mary was now going to go into a bad flashback, but to his surprise; she didn't.

"The child was Lizzie's." Mary said while looking down at the ground; as she stopped walking as well. With a sadden frown on the young woman's face; the older man asked.

"What happened?" With a sigh; Mary told him.

"Lizzie had become with child; by one of the men she was seeing. This was in the first of the three years that I was not to leave the attic; near the end of my stay there at that house. The day Lizzie pushed me out of the house; was the first day out of the attic… But Lizzie had the child at home, and I could hear her bring the child into the world… I heard the baby cry for a few days… .. then nothing… I heard her come up the stairs, and open the door to the attic. She looked at me and told me that what she was to put in the chest; wasn't for me. I looked at her arms.. and saw something wrapped in a blue blanket… I knew that it was the baby.. Lizzie went to walk out, and I asked her; what was the baby? A girl or a boy.. She stopped at the door, and turned her head somewhat toward me, and told me that it had been a boy. That she killed him; because she was not a good mother.. Then she actually told me that she was sorry; that she hadn't gave me to my father beforehand… She then walked out of the room, and locked the door behind her…" Mary looked at the older man; who was looking at her with widen eyes. Then she confessed something to him.

"That was the second time Lizzie had become with child. The first time was…"

"With you." Said Kreizler. Mary shook her head.

"No… I was her first and only daughter, but she has had two boys after me. The first boy she gave to his father… and the second one… well." Mary told the older with a sadden frown again.

"Oh." Was all the German doctor could say. Mary sighed; then asked them man.

"I told you about it… so can we move on; from this question?" Kreizler nodded his head.

"So what else would you like to tell me?" He asked her; as he started to walk again. Mary started to walk again as well, and took his arm like before.

"Well I have cooked for everyone in camp, and I had cooked food to give to the churches too. The food will go to those that will need it, and Peter and I will be making clothes as well for the churches too. I say that we will start on the clothes in a few days… Oh and I am going to try to cook Japanese food too. Vater said that he was in Japan for a short time, and he could tell me if the food is right, or not… Oh I can't wait to start cooking, and trying the new foods."

"Wilhelm is the right man to try the food. When he came back from Japan; he couldn't stop talking about the food, and the beautiful sights as well. I'm sure that when the war is over; you will go there and see all the sights." He told the young woman with a smile.

"Oh and Peter has made some beautiful dresses. Herr General Burkhalter's sister and wife had came here to look at the dresses; so did Regina and Mama…"

"Mama?" Asked the older man as he turned his head toward Mary. Mary smiled and nodded her head.

"Ja, I call Hilda Mama now. She is more of a mother to me than what mine ever was… I don't know if you want to know this, but I had started to bleed this month, and I did have a bit of a break down, but Mama and Regina… Hilda's mutter; helped me and I am better now. I actually like calling Hilda Mama, and Regina Großmutter." Mary said with a loving smile. With his eyes; Kreizler watched as Mary's smile fell some.

"What is it?" Mary looked down at the ground, and told the older man.

"I have to say that I have been missing someone that means a lot to me." Mary looked up at the older man.

"Who is that?" He asked.

"His name is Captain Sebastian Flint, but I call him Bash. He was… is like an older brother to me. I miss him so much; I know that I will see him again one day, but I just wish that I knew how he was, or if he is alright… or alive." Mary closed her eyes as a tear fell from her eyes. Kreizler felt his heart break at the sight of the young woman's tears.

"You will see him soon." He told her, and patted her hand. Mary looked up at him with a sadden smile.

"I know I will…" Mary stopped walking which caused Kreizler to stop as well. What Mary asked next; took the man by surprise.

"Laszlo… there is something I would like to do, but I don't know if you would think it's a good idea or not."

"What is that?"

"I would like to go to George's grave, and place flowers on it… Do you think that it's a good idea, or no?" Kreizler didn't know what to say at first; then spoke the first thing that came to him.

"Why in the world.. would you want to go to the grave of the man that had done so many things too you?" He asked her. Mary sighed and replied.

"George had done so many things to me yes, but that was because his mind was so corrupted by Lizzie. He did do some good things for me before Lizzie gave him the drugs…"

"Drugs?" Asked Kreizler. "What drugs?" He added.

"Uncle said that there was drugs found in the car, and in his blood. Uncle told me and Papa, Vater, and Peter what was found. He said they found LSD, and mind-altering mushrooms; in George's blood and in the car. I had told Uncle that Lizzie had made George dinner one night, and had put mushrooms that were covered in a white powder on his food. That was when he changed… but before that George was actually a good man, and a good step father to me. He taught me how to read and write. He was the one that wanted me to finish school, and he was very happy that I finished so young. When I look back at George; I do remember all the bad that he had done, but I do know why he had done it now… I do seem to remember good things now here lately; more than the bad. Me sitting on his lap; while he was teaching me to read, and write. He would come home with a new book, and would give it to me… now looking back at it.. George would always bring me books; even when I was in the attic. That was the one thing he would do. There were sometimes that his old self would show threw, but as fast as it showed up; it would leave. George did do some good things for me… he would bring me food; when Lizzie wasn't home. When he took the picture of me; when I was basically a walking skeleton.. George would bring me a lot of food. Him and Lizzie would get in fights over it. She would tell him that I should never eat again. And he would tell her; that she was not the one making love to a skeleton; he was. He did do things for me off and on, but I still want to take flowers to his grave, and forgive him for what all he did to me… That it wasn't his fault; that he was not in his right mind." Kreizler looked at Mary with an open mouth, and widen eyes.

"Dear god you are different than anyone; I have ever known." Mary raised a brow at the older man.

"What do you mean?" She asked.

"I have never heard of anyone wanting to do what you want to. I have talked to so many over the years; about their problems, and how to help them, but none of them would ever forgive the one that had hurt them in the past. If you think that you can do it; then do it, but before hand; call me and I will be here when you get back, or go with you. Just in case you need to talk about it." Mary nodded her head.

"I will do that, but I have to. I have to forgive him, and to tell him that it wasn't all his fault. I have to do this; to be able to move on with my life.. Peter has told me not too long ago; that just because something bad happens; I can't stop my life; that I have to move on, and live my life…"

"You are talking about your father having a seizure; aren't you?" Asked the German doctor. Mary nodded her head.

"Yes I am. I can't stop my life; just because something bad happened to me, or to someone I love. I have to move on, and I know that forgiving George will help me later on in my life. I can forgive George, but I will never forgive my wretch of a mother. That woman got what was coming to her. She had always lived a life doing the seven deadly sins. She was never afraid to show me her wrath; to where I was scared to breathe around her. She was sloth in the way of making me do everything around the house. At times, I would be so weak; to where I had to crawl threw the house.. Her gluttony with eating so many sweets was hard to watch. That woman could eat so many candies, and cakes; all while she drink down the wine that George, or other men would get her. She lusted after every man that she could get her hands on. Then her vanity and envy would show a lot of the times.."

"How's that?" Asked the older man.

"She would look at any woman, and want something that they had; so that she could look better than them. If she had something that was better than someone else's; then she would rub it in their face. With me; she hated my black hair, and whiteish blue eyes. She always wanted to cut my hair, or pop my eyes out.." Kreizler's eyes widen at hearing this; then listened to what the young woman said next.

"But George would never let her do those things. He would do some many things to me, but… he would protect me from her.. But it was avarice was the worst thing ever. That woman wanted money all the time. She did take some of Papa's money, but the other men that she would take advantage of; she would drain them of all of their money. Then when they had none left; she would leave them. She was always like that…. I will forgive George, but I will never forgive that woman." Kreizler's eyes widen again, but he smiled a sheepish smile. They both turned and walked back over to the truck. Mary walked over to her love. Newkirk smiled down at her; then saw the German doctor wave him over. Newkirk told his love that it was his turn to talk to the doctor. Mary nodded her head, and walked over toward Bischof and Habicht.

"My turn?" Asked Newkirk with a smile. Kreizler nodded his head and turned to walk away. Newkirk followed the older man. As the men walked away from everyone; Kreizler told Newkirk some of what Mary had told him. He told the younger man about the dresses, and how he was going to be making more of them. The doctor then started to ask his questions.

"How are you feeling? Mary said that you helped her with the wash and cleaned the house… and caught her when she pretended to fall." Said Kreizler with a chuckle. Newkirk chuckled as well; then spoke.

"I am feeling pretty good. I hurt off and on in my arm. My arm was hurting pretty bad after I got done sewing all the dresses, but it wasn't hurting to where I had to take anything for it." As Newkirk talked; Kreizler stopped walking, and turned to look at the younger man. Newkirk stopped, and saw that the German doctor had to tell him something important.

"There is something that you want to tell me, but you don't know if you should." Kreizler smiled but nodded his head.

"Ja there is. Mary asked me if it would be a good idea for her to go to George's grave, and to place flowers on it." Newkirk narrowed his brows together and looked to his left. His eyes watched his love looking threw the food that was going to go to the house. Without turning his head; Newkirk spoke.

"She wants to go to his grave? Did she tell you why, or no?" He asked the older man.

"She said that she needs to go there, and that she needs to forgive him; for what all he had done to her. She told me that you had told her not to stop her life; just because something bad had happened. That she has to move on, and forgiving George will help her later on in her life… I will not lie to you; that I was shocked that she wanted to do this. She wants to forgive him, and move on… and I think that will be good for her. I will be there with her, or at the camp when she comes back from his grave, but she; I do believe that she needs to do this. I wanted to tell you this; just in case she tries to do it on her own. Someone will have to be there with her. I know that you will want to be with her at that time, and it wouldn't hurt for her father to be there with her as well." As the doctor spoke; Newkirk nodded his head, but kept his eyes on his love.

"I will ask her about this, and I will go with her… But I don't know if Robert should go or not. That might be too hard for him to listen to, or it could bring back bad memories of his own past… If anyone besides myself, or you; should be there with her; it should be Hochstetter. He will be able to help her; just like we could." Kreizler's eyes looked from the young man to the Major that was standing beside the young woman; that they were talking about. He saw the smile on the Major's lips, and watched him move to hug the young woman with one arm.

"Mary told me that Hochstetter is going to be her Godfather and her guardian. What do you think about that?" Asked the doctor.

"I think it's a great idea. In this war; no one ever knows if they are safe or not. I know as well as Robert, and Wilhelm; that he can keep her safe. Hochstetter and Mary are the only ones in this camp that really can't be touched. Besides my diamond heart loves spending time with him, and he likes spending time with her. Hell Hochstetter is paying for the ring that I designed for Mary…"

"You designed a ring for her?" Newkirk looked over into the older man's eyes.

"I did. Next Sunday I'm going to ask Mary to marry me." Kreizler smiled wide when he heard this.

"That's wonderful news." He told the younger man.

"I hope that you can come to the camp next Sunday. I know that it would mean a lot to Mary if you were here for that big moment, and for her birthday."

"I would love to come." Said Kreizler. Both men started to walk back to the trucks, and the sweet young woman that was standing near one of the trucks. Mary looked over toward the doctor, and her love as they walked closer toward her, but glanced over when Bischof walked over to her with the gifts that she had gotten everyone. Both Newkirk and Kreizler heard the German Corporal speak to the young woman.

"Lady Mary, you want me to put these in the house?" He asked her. Mary smiled and nodded her head.

"Yes you can. I will have to call…" Mary didn't finish what she was going to say; when two cars drove threw the gates.

"Oh never mind." She said with a giggle; as she saw General Burkhalter and his wife and sister in one of the cars. Newkirk's eyes looked at the other car, and saw Ritter getting out of the car, and the Major walk over toward him.

"What is Ritter doing here?" He asked out loud. Mary shook her head as she spoke.

"I don't know, but now I can give them all their gifts I got them." She said with a large smile; as she saw the German Captain wearing the jacket that she had made him. As Schultz walked near Mary; she asked him.

"Uncle would you be so kind; to go and tell my brothers to come to the house, and Hilda and Regina too please?" Schultz nodded his head.

"I will for you Lady Mary." Mary giggled at the older man; then turned to walk over toward the General and his family; as well as Ritter and Hochstetter.

"Grandfather Albert, what are you doing here?" She asked the older General. The older man smiled when he heard the young woman call him grandfather.

"I came to see your father, and to make sure that he is alright." He lied to her. The General had actually came to the camp to see how the barn was going along. Mary smiled wide at hearing the older man's words.

"That's so sweet of you. I am glad that all of you are here. I bought all of you something when I was in town." She told them.

"Well shall we all go to the house then?" Said Gertrude. Mary nodded her head, and started to walk toward the house with her love beside her. She looked behind her to see Kreizler looking at the truck with widen eyes. Mary smiled and called out his name.

"Laszlo are you coming?" The German doctor turned his head, and smiled at the young lady. Mary turned her head back; when she saw the man start to walk toward the house. Her eyes glanced over toward the new building that was being built inside the camp.

"What are they building?" She mostly asked herself.

"That is a new storage building that they are building." Lied Burkhalter. Mary shrugged her shoulders and walked toward the house.

-MN-

As they all walked into the house; Mary walked over to her two friends. Bischof and Habicht had sat out all of the gifts on the table; then stood to the side. As everyone walked into the room, and sat down; Hogan walked out of the bedroom with Klink by his side as well as Ranger. Mary smiled as her fathers sat down on the sofa, and Ranger sat beside her father. They all looked over toward the door when they saw it open, and the others walked in. Carter, and LeBeau stood near the wall that led into the kitchen; while Kinch took two chairs from the table, and brought them over for Hilda and Regina. The two women thanked him and sat down; as Kinch joined his two friends beside the wall. Mary watched as the General, and his wife sat down in the chairs. While Gertrude sat beside Klink on the sofa. Klink had smiled at the woman, and moved over some to let the woman; who he did see as a friend sit down. Kreizler, Hochstetter, and Ritter sat down in the three other chairs that were at the table; as Schultz stood behind the General's wife's chair. Mary smiled wide as they all looked at her.

"I have bought all of you a gift, and I want to give them to all of you. I have asked Vater if I could get all of you something, and he did say that I could; so Julian, Hawk could you give all the lovely ladies their gifts?" She asked her two friends. Both men nodded their heads, and picked up the women's gifts. They read the little cards that were on the gifts so that they would know who's was who's. As Bischof handed Berta her gift; she spoke to Mary.

"Mary, you didn't have to get all of us a gift." Mary smiled wide and replied.

"But I wanted too. All of you mean so much to me; that I wanted to get all of you something to show just how much I care for each one of you." As Mary spoke she smiled a loving smile. Three of the four women looked at Gertrude when she spoke next; as Hilda opened her gift.

"Mary you didn't have too…"

"OH!" Said Hilda loudly. They all looked over toward her.

"Hilda what is it?" Asked her mother. Hilda looked up at Mary with widen eyes.

"Mary please tell me that these are not real diamonds?" She asked her. Mary nodded her head and said.

"Of course they are Mama." The youngest woman in the room said with a large smile. Regina looked at the earrings that her daughter had in her hand; then opened the box that was in her hands; as Mary spoke again.

"I bought all of you the real deal." She said with a giggle; which made Newkirk smile at his love.

"Damn." Said Kinch as he looked at the ruby earrings that Regina had in her hand.

"You mean that these are real rubies?" Regina looked at the younger woman. Mary nodded her head again.

"Yes they are." Mary looked over as Gertrude opened her box, and gasped at the sight of the blue sapphire earrings.

"Oh Mary.. These are beautiful, Danke." Said Gertrude as she looked up at the sweet young woman. Klink leaned over, and looked at the earrings that his nonblood daughter had bought the General's sister. Hogan watched his loves eyes widen. 'Mary must have spent a lot on them?' He thought to himself.

"Your welcome." Mary said with a large smile; then looked over when she heard Berta yell out.

"Oh my god Albert!.. These are freshwater pearls!" The General looked inside of the box that is wife was holding up for him to see.

"Mary! You didn't have to get me these." Said the older woman with a grateful smile.

"But I wanted too." Mary looked over when Habicht leaned over, and asked her.

"Do you want to give Herr General his gift next?" Mary nodded her head, and smiled wide; as she took the gift from her friend. Mary walked over, and handed the gift to the man she called Grandfather.

"I hope you like it." She said with a sweet smile. Burkhalter took the box and opened it. His eyes widen at the sight of a three inch gold double sword pin; that could be pinned to his coat.

"Mein Gott. This is beautiful." He told the young woman; while showing his wife.

"Do you like it?" Mary asked him. The older man nodded his head; then said.

"I do. Danke Enkelin." Mary smiled, and turned toward her brothers.

"Now for you three." She said with a large smile. Carter smiled wide, and couldn't wait to open his gift from his little sister. Habicht and Bischof walked over, and handed the three; a box each. All three unwrapped the boxes, and opened them.

"Holy Cow!" Said Carter as he looked at his gift. In each box was a silver ring, but with three different stones. Carter's had a Amber stone within his, and LeBeau had a purple Jasper stone; while Kinch's had a Ruby within his. All three men looked at the young woman and smiled.

"Thank you sissy." Said Carter

"Thank you sis." Said Kinch

"Merci Petite Soeur." Said LeBeau. Mary smiled at the men she called her brothers. She turned toward Habicht, and moved her head toward her father. The young man walked over, and handed the youngest Colonel his gift. Hogan looked at the box that had a bow around it; that was being handed to him. It was a lot larger than the jewelry boxes, and looked to be a lot heavier.

"What did you get me?... A crown?" He joked; as he took the heavy box into his hands. Mary giggled, and shook her head.

"Nope, those are for me." Hogan raised a brow at his daughters words.

"Wait.. did you actually buy yourself crowns?" He asked her; then looked over toward Newkirk when he spoke up.

"She did actually." Klink smiled at his son's words.

"Where did you find crowns at?" Asked her father; while looking back over at her. Mary smiled and told him.

"The woman at the jewelry store; said that there was a store that sold crowns and tiaras.. So we went there, and I bought me a few. I figured might as well get some; just in case I get invited to a party, and Peter makes me one hell of a dress." Mary said with a giggle. Newkirk smiled at his love, and now knew why she had bought the jewelry. At hearing this Hochstetter smiled to himself. Hogan went to ask his daughter a question, but stopped himself; then opened his gift from her. Mary watched her father's face as he opened the box. Hogan opened the box, and saw two blank books; with a fountain pen, a dipping pen, and a bottle of ink, many pencils, and a notebook. A large smile came to her lips; as her father's eyes widen. Hogan looked up into his daughter's snowy blue eyes.

"Snow why did you?..." He asked her. Mary smiled and told her father.

"I got you everything that you would need to write your book with. I thought that it would help you." His daughter told him with a smile. Hogan smiled at his daughter; then looked over at the young German Corporal when he asked her.

"Do you want to put the second box in your room, or leave it here?" Asked Habicht. Mary smiled and told him.

"You can leave it here on the table. I will take it to Papa's office later on." Mary looked over toward her Vater when he spoke next.

"Take what?" Mary smiled and told him.

"I got a box that has everything in it like Papa's. I thought that we both could write a book together." She said with a smile.

"What book are you going to write?" Asked Ritter. The Captain's breath caught in his throat; when snowy blue eyes met his.

"I don't know yet, but I do want to write one. I think it would be a fun thing to do, and later on; I can tell mine and Peter's children that their Mama wrote a book, and they can read it." Newkirk smiled when his love said their children.

"Snow, what did you get for Will?" Asked Hogan. Mary smiled, but looked over toward Bischof. He nodded his head and walked out of the house, and out onto the porch. Habicht moved toward the door to help his friend. Klink's eyes widen at the sight of the books that the two young guards started to carry in. He looked over toward Mary when she spoke; as the two guards sat all of the books on the table.

"The book store owner, Mr. Bruns had many medical books, and where he said that I could take anything I wanted… I just thought this would help you with going back to medical school." Klink stood up, and looked at all the books. Kreizler stood up as well, and looked at all the books. With a smile the German Colonel's old friend told him.

"Now you have no excuse to why you can't pass the tests." Klink looked over at his friend with a dry look; then turned his head toward his love who was laughing softly. Hogan looked up at his love who was looking at him.

"Well Robert, since you have all of the things you will need to write your book.. Then there is no excuse why you can't." Hogan stopped laughing, and narrowed his eyes at his love. Mary giggled softly; as Newkirk, and the others laughed lightly.

"Not funny." Said Hogan. Klink smiled at the younger man; then looked at the young woman that he called daughter. Mary stopped giggling, and smiled at the older man.

"Danke sweet Snow." Mary smiled, and hugged the older man. After the hug ended; Mary looked over toward Schultz and told him.

"Uncle Schultz, I will bake you a large batch of cookies… I didn't know what to get you… and I should have asked you." She told the older Sergeant in the room. Schultz smiled at her and said.

"The cookies will be enough for me." He said with a large smile. Newkirk leaned over toward Hochstetter; who whispered to him.

"Mary may have to go shopping again for food after that." Newkirk smiled, and held in his laugh. They all looked over as Mary walked around the table, and grabbed two leather bags, and handed them to her Vater, and to Kreizler. Both men raised a brow at the bag in front of them.

"I saw your bag last time Laszlo, and it looked like you needed a new one; so I got you a new bag, and Vater I got you one as well; to carry your medical equipment in." Both smiled as they took the bags from the young woman.

"Danke Lady Mary." Said Kreizler as he looked at the bag. He did need a new one, and he was going to save up to get one, but now he didn't need to. Klink smiled at his nonblood daughter, and was glad that she was happy that he was following his dream. Mary then looked over toward Ritter. She walked over, and picked up two boxes. One was in the blue paper, and the other in a red paper. Mary handed the box wrapped in the blue paper to her love. Newkirk narrowed his eyes at her.

"You didn't." He told her. Mary smiled, and tilted her head up at the ceiling.

"Maybe." She told him; as he unwrapped the box, and opened it. With a sigh; Newkirk looked at his love.

"Eira, you didn't have to get the ring." He told her.

"What ring?" Asked Carter.

"The ring has three arrows inside of it… Snow my diamond heart, you didn't have too…"

"But I wanted too." His love told him; then stuck out her tongue at him. Newkirk sighed, and took the ring out of the box, and placed it on his ring finger; on his right hand. Mary then looked over, and handed the box in the red paper to Ritter; who looked at her with shocked eyes. He didn't think that this beautiful young woman before him; would have gotten him something.

"What is this?" He asked her.

"I couldn't forget you." Ritter smiled and took the box. He took off the red paper, and opened the box. His eyes widen at the sight of the ring. Hochstetter glanced over, and widen his eyes at the sight of the ring as well. The Major looked over toward Hogan when he spoke.

"What kind of ring is it?" He asked.

"It's a silver ring with gold trim, and it has a gold eagle holding a silver sword, and there are red rubies in the background of the ring." He described the ring to his new friend. Hogan smiled and said.

"That's a nice ring." Said the youngest Colonel in the room. Ritter looked up at Mary; as he took the ring out of the box.

"You didn't have to get me something so beautiful." He told her. Mary smiled and told him.

"I wanted to get you something, and it's from both of us. Peter helped me choose the right one for you." Ritter looked over to see flaming blue eyes looking into his golden amber ones. Newkirk smiled at the Gestapo Captain.

"Mary and I couldn't forget you." He said with a sweet smile. Ritter smiled and looked down at the ring; then back at the two that was making his heart race.

"Danke." He said calmly.

"Your welcome." Mary said with a smile; then grabbed the last gift from the table.

"Pate, this is for you. Open this bag first." She told the Major as he took the bag. Hochstetter took the bag, and placed his hand inside. His brows narrowed as he pulled out; what looked like to be small candles.

"You got him candles?" Asked her father. Mary shook her head; then said.

"What, no." She laughed, but then added. "It's wax, but it goes with your other gift." Hochstetter sat down the four sticks of wax on the table, and opened the ring box. A large smile came to his lips; as he looked at the ring.

"It's a wax sealing ring… There's a wolf inside of the ring." Said Mary with a large smile. Hochstetter put the ring on his left pointer finger; then looked over when Newkirk handed him some matches.

"You know that you have to test it out." Hochstetter took the matches from the young English Corporal. He picked up the red stick of wax; as Klink got him a piece of paper. The Major lit the wick of the wax, and let the wax drip onto the paper. He blew out the flame; then pressed the ring into the wax. Then held the ring there for a few seconds; then lifted upwards. Both Hochstetter and Mary smiled at the now wolf shaped wax; that was on the paper.

"Danke Meine Porzellanperle." Said the Major. Mary smiled and hugged him.

"You are welcome Pate." Hochstetter hugged the young woman back. Hogan smiled, and knew that he had chosen the right person to look after his little girl. The Major ended the hug then leaned back.

"Mary, I would like to ask you a question, but before I do; I had asked your father, Klink and Newkirk first." Mary raised a brow, and looked over toward her love; who smiled at her. Looking back at the Major; Mary asked.

"What is it?" Hochstetter smiled at her; then asked his question.

"Mary, I have to go to my families party tomorrow, and I was wondering if you would like to come with me?" He asked her. Mary's eyes widen with happiness; then listened to what her Uncle told her next. It was now; that Ritter understood why the Major had asked him to go to his place, and pack him a good bit of clothes for him.

"Now we will be gone for two nights though. We will have to travel by train to Würzburg; it's a five hour train ride. We will leave here at three in the morning, and get on the train at four in the morning. Then, like I said it will be a five hour train ride there. We will get there at nine in the morning; we can go to my house that I have there; then go eat, and shop, or do whatever you like to do, or see. Then go to the party at six tomorrow evening; then go back to the house to sleep there; then leave at eight in the evening Tuesday, and get back here at one in the morning on Wednesday… Now you don't have to go if you don't think that you can spend a night away from your sweetheart." Mary listened to what her Uncle told her. At the end of the older man speaking; Mary looked over toward her love. Newkirk smiled at her; then said the Major's name.

"Major, if Mary goes with you; she will have to sleep in the same bed as you. Mary does have nightmares, and that will be the first night that she will be away from myself, her father, and Klink." Hochstetter turned his head to look at the younger man.

"I understand, and we can do that if you want too… But Meine Porzellanperle… you don't have to come with me." As Mary thought on what she was going to do; her Vater spoke up.

"I thought you lived in Aurich?" Asked Klink.

"I did up until I was ten years old; then my family moved to Würzburg. We still went to Aurich off and on. My grandparents still live there, and a few cousins do as well. But I do have a house there as well as in Würzburg." As the two men spoke; Mary looked at her love again. In her eyes; Newkirk could see that Mary was not sure if she should leave. True she might have nightmares, but if someone slept beside her; she would be alright. What scared Mary the most; was that she was leaving her father alone, and what had happened earlier; still scared her. With a nod of his head, and a smile on his lips; Newkirk quietly told his love that he would look after everyone while she was gone.

"Uncle." Hochstetter looked back at Mary.

"Ja?"

"I would love to go with you to this party." Mary watched the man before her smile wide.

"I am glad to hear that." He told her. Mary smiled then turned her head; when she heard Hilda speak to her.

"Mary if you are going to be leaving at three in the morning; then you should pack a bag now."

"Ja your Mutter is right." Said Gertrude; then she added. "We can help you pack your bags, and help you pick out what you are going to wear to the party. Then we all can cook dinner."

"No, you ladies help Mary, and I will cook all of us a nice French dinner." Said LeBeau with a large smile. Mary smiled at him; then looked over when Berta spoke next.

"That is a good idea… Now what kind of dress should Mary wear Major?" Hochstetter smiled wide and replied.

"Any kind you want; as long as it has a long skirt… And nothing red." The last part the Major said with a sigh. Mary raised a brow at this odd request.

"Why not red?" Asked LeBeau. The Major looked over toward the small Frenchman, and replied.

"My mother doesn't let anyone wear red around her. She says that's her color, and that no one can have it, but her… Which I know that she will not be wearing red tomorrow night." All looked back at Mary when she stepped back from her Uncle, and placed her hands on her hips.

"Now that doesn't make any sense. She can't just own a color; just because she likes it; then she thinks that no one can wear it but her. If I want to wear red; damn it I'm wearing red!" Mary said with a large smile. Hochstetter smiled wide.

"Oh please do. My mother needs to be knocked down a few pegs." Mary smiled at his words; then her smile faded as she stated.

"Now Uncle, if they say anything bad to you, or about you.. I will put them in their place; I hope you know that." Both Hochstetter, and Hogan smiled at this.

"Again… please do." The Major told her with a larger smile. Mary smiled, and turned toward the women in the room.

"Now ladies; let's pick out what I'm wearing to the party." All the women got up, and walked with Mary toward her and her loves room. Once they were all in the room; Hogan looked at his new friend and said.

"Your family will not know what hit them." Hochstetter laughed; then looked over toward Newkirk when he spoke up.

"And you will know if Mary is really pissed off.. Her sweet British accent turns into a loud Scottish one." All the men there raised a brow at this news, but not Klink, Hogan, or Kinch.

"What do you mean?" Asked Ritter. The young Captain looked over toward Klink when he spoke.

"Mary yelled at Hogan this morning, and she started out British; then the angrier she got… her accent turned into a Scottish one." Hogan went to say something, but stopped when he heard General Burkhalter start to laugh. Hogan looked over toward his love; who was smiling a wide smile at him. With a roll of his eyes; Hogan looked at the doorway as he heard his daughter laughing in the other room.

-MN-

Somewhere in Germany. It had been a few days since the four had left England. Leanne had shielded the teen, and the small boy from this crazy man; that had taken them. Leanne had worried that her mother hadn't made it to General Butler; to tell him what all had happened. But when she and the teenaged boy heard over the radio; General Butler's voice, and heard him make a broadcast over the radio himself. She knew that her mother had gotten to the General safely. Closing her eyes; Leanne remembered the broadcast. Butler's voice said that this man was now a wanted man. They had found the two men; that he had killed to be able to take a plane. The whole plane ride; Leanne as well as the teenager, and the small boy in the teenagers arms; had feared for their lives. Now Leanne, and the teenaged boy; as well as the little boy were in Germany. This man had brought them to a barn; a few hours ago. As Leanne opened her eyes; she saw the man looking out the window. He was standing in full view of the window; looking at the sunset.

"You know that someone will see you; if you stand there like that." She told the man. With a spine chilling smile; the man spoke.

"That's the plan my dear." Leanne looked threw a crack in the barn, and saw a farmer. The man looked over at the barn, and ran into his house.

"He saw you." Said Leanne to the RAF Officer.

"Good.. Now get up!" He yelled at them. The teenager stood up with the young boy still in his arms. The RAF man moved to the side, and pointed the gun at them; then moved it toward the doorway. They all walked from the barn to the farm house. The RAF Officer kicked the door open, and pointed the gun at the older couple. The farmer and his wife; looked at the three with widen eyes. The man stepped into the house, and held up the gun higher in the air.

"What are you doing?" Asked the teen.

BANG! … BANG!

The gun went off, and both the farmer and his wife fell to the floor. Leanne's eyes widen at the sight of the look that was on the Officer's face. The look he had; was that of pure evil. Turning her head to the right; she saw the teenager looking down at the two dead bodies on the ground. The teen had the little boy's head in his chest. The boy had not seen the two die. Leanne wrapped her arms around the two boys, and hugged them. She had seen death before, and had killed before herself, but the boy's were too young for this.

"Now… We can eat." Said the man; as he moved to the side, and pointed the gun at them.

"What?" Leanne asked. The RAF Officer smiled again; then said.

"Cook us something woman." He told her. Leanne normally wouldn't let someone talk to her like this. She would put them in their place very quickly; however for the sake of the boys; she nodded her head. As Leanne moved into the house; she softly told the teen; to not let the little boy see the dead bodies. When the teen nodded his head; Leanne walked them into the kitchen; with the boys by her side. She sat the boys down at the table, and started to find something to cook. As Leanne looked for food; the only thought that came to her mind was..

'We're not safe with him.'
