Sasuke never saw himself as a man with a home. Forever destined to wander lands no other mere mortal could ever hope to imagine, he found a sort of solace in the isolation. That was until a whirlwind of sunshine found its way into his entire being.

Perhaps it was because of the way she smiled, or how she spoke his name, or maybe it was neither of those things at all. Either way, it didn't matter. All Sasuke knew now was that the part of him that died along with his family had been revived. Somehow, there was another reason for him to live and breathe.

The travels that used to bring him further away from the village that gave him nothing but venom now only put distance between him and the one thing he could ever regard as home. And despite his best efforts to extinguish the fear, he couldn't help but wonder if she was nothing more than a waking dream.

Could it be that one day when he returned, she would grow tired of waiting? Would the novelty of his presence wear off? Or worse, could it be that she was never there at all, simply just a figment of his imagination to dull the lingering pain of his turbulent youth?

He allowed the doubts to cloud his mind, just as they always did before when she cried for him. There was no way she could see something in him worth saving and the words she spoke so sincerely were nothing but lies.

But there she was again, standing at the gates with a hand over her heart like she was trying to stop it from bursting past her rib cage. She was waiting for him, just as she did all those times before. Her green, sparkling eyes bore into his with an intensity that took his breath away.

That was when Sasuke knew. None of his doubts mattered when she was there as she quelled them all with a single touch. Every part of him that was broken, she mended, and every part of him that was missing, she became.
